Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC.Started the day by doing everything at Mogo and the caching around Durras, north of Batemans Bay.One objective was to get the oldest Eathcache on this planet. Amazingly I didn't know it was so close. Grabbed the other nearby EC as well.Next was to get all the solved puzzles of the rally cars as well as an interesting multi. One more Earthcache to end the day.A great old Eathcache to do. Been around her before the cache.

After a lovely two nights in Batemans Bay with my muggles family, I tried to do as many caches as I could without disturbing their enjoyment. On the last night my one teenager expressed his frustration that we didn't visit a unique beach while on the coast. (we did visit some but not good enough for him). So I looked up where to go as I know Geocaches in this area will take you to beautiful beaches. And having the opportunity to visit an area with two Earthcaches, I hoped it would be good.It was more that good!!!It was perfect.Thank you for tour of Wasp Head which I could do with the family knowing what I was doing. My favourite honeycomb weathering found around the corner.

Woohoo, the first ever Earthcache created and we completed it today. We have found many ECs all over the world, but its good to find the first created and it is in our own country too.The cache is in a wonderful location. Beautiful beaches, surfers to watch today and just an all round lovely place.Thank you for bringing us here and creating a new cache format that has taught us lots from all different parts of the world.Answer sent.Today we headed out of town north of the Clyde to see what we could find. Our main aims were to complete the R.O.B.T series and also the World's first Earthcache which just happens to be located here.Solving the R.O.B.T's presented some challenges as we tried heaps of things. Finding the actual caches was generally much more straightforward. The roads were good and surface dry and the caches themselves in excellent condition. We did 2 Earthcaches and picked up a range of other caches on the way. Couldn't look for 2 others as the road in the National Park was closed.A beautiful day with some stunning scenery and plenty of wildlife.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache geoaware.**SKI Pair****

Today's weather feels fantastic, but its not cold. I enjoyed around B.B. for some caches. It was a nice walk on a long way and a smooth track to view the sea.Answer sent to CO for few days ago as nothing replies back yet.. Thank you for bring me here, TFTE Smile

Hi, we visited Wasp Head this afternoon as part of our 3 day Murramarang South Coast Walk. Amazing geology. Answer sent. Thanks for the cache.

Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Our first visit to ACT in that time.Moving today from Bega to Batemans Bay. Once the caravan was set up we headed off to tackle these 2 earthcaches ahead of the predicted rainstorm of the next week! Mrs F already has a cold, so it was Mr F who headed off to GZ to collect the info.Funny enough we booked our campsite here in Batemans Bay over a month ago, before the Geocaching HQ newsletter highlighting this cache. But once we read that newsletter we knew to make sure we didn't miss it whilst in the area. ??Pretty grey this afternoon so not the best pictures or view.??Answer sent.TFTC geoaware

Day 6 of mogni and sir_spectre visit the ACT. Today we left the ACT for a time and visited Batesman's Bay as there was an earthcache we both wanted to find. Of course before heading off we visited the Canberra Airport, and grabbed a few smilies. A long day, but great weather for being out and about. As per normal if a cache needed a bit of love, it got it. Many wet and smelly containers were replaced and lots of logsheets added today.Answer sent by sir_spectre on my behalfThanks to geoaware from mogni RazzRed FaceBig Grin

This was the target cache for the day. We left canberra and drove down here for the day. We went to the lookout ( near last WP ) and took the stairs down to the rocks. There we took the tour of wasp head. Nice location for a earth cache and a interesting tour. Good to see Australia's ( and the world's ) first earth cache and also see how earthcaches have evolved since the first one was placed. Answers sent and now off to do the other nearby earth cache. Fav point of course. Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.

Well wow! This is a career geocache for us to find!!Our plans were derailed a little yesterday as we managed to get a flat tire just two hours after leaving Sydney. It was difficult to deal with as our rental company didnt offer any help whatsoever, so after I swapped our wheel we ended our drive earlier, and settled in for the night. This morning we had to figure out what to do with the car but still keep moving south; after a long morning we managed to get our car swapped for a new one (boy does that sound strange) and we continued our drive. We made a quick stop to visit the Guinness world book of records whitest beach, and after Laura had a short swim, we got back on the road. We had made it to the target destination of the day, being this stash. We parked near the wallabies and walked around the rocky and unique cost towards this eighth stash of the day, visiting the waypoints until we made it to the required question for this find. We gathered all the intel including a few screenshots, documented our visit, and at 4:08 pm I drafted this FI log for the worlds first ever earthcache, making this our 7151st overall find. Its always memorable to find such memorable and unique natural formations, and it is an absolute milestone of our geocaching career to find, visit, and enjoy the first ever EarthCache, which started this partnership with the geodetic society! **Thank you Gary Lewis** for placing and maintaining your Earthcache I - a simple geology tour of Wasp Head stash; we were glad to visit it and spice up our Monday while down under in Australia for our spring break, visiting from slightly-distant Myanmar! This is the first earthcache ever, and it had sparked our newfound interest in geology and plastery sciences, which had allowed us to date to visit (and log) 294 earth caches, making this our 295th. Again, a big big thank you for such a memorable and special find..!For my own personal statistics; this is the seventieth of 112 geocaches we visited down under while on spring break, excluding the 56 adventure lab caches we visited and 28 Waymarks visited. It was quite a long and exciting day for us, as we walked 21.17km throughout the city while visiting twenty-five stashes just this one day. Lastly, I cant believe that only 437 people visited this cache in the 20 years it's been around. Its literally the cradle of all PCs!

We are visiting from Canada and heading north along the coast toward Sydney today, exploring SE Australia after attending the Canberra GeoBash. This cache was not on our original list, but after getting the HQ newsletter while in Canberra it was quickly put on our "must do" list. So fortunate to visit the first Earthcache on our travels. Loved the explanation of what we were seeing at each stage! TFT

05-Apr-24
Wow! Now this is what an earthcache is about. So pleased to have not only made it to the first earthcache is Australia but the first earthcache in the world is rather special. We were extremely unlucky that the weather was seriously not beach weather but we decided that we would just change when we got back to the car. Even though there was no sun, the colours and formations along this bit of coast were stunning. Even found a friendly kangaroo that just wanted to be patted. This is somewhere that we would not have ventured without caching and we will be back in the better weather.Thank you for showing us this location, a favourite for sure.

05-Apr-24
There was a lot of talk at the Canberra Easter Mega about this cache within our group. Quite a few people had done it but others were hoping to do it on the way back if time permitted. We were lucky to not be to constricted by time and GT37 really wanted to complete this. We had heard that the location is stunning. We certainly weren't disappointed but the rain made things difficult. This is a location that we will come back to and explore better. Thanks for introducing us to this area, a favourite for us.

04-Apr-24
11:08the weather forecast for this day was mostly rainy, so we decided to move a bit towards melbourne. but there was one cache we couldn't miss, despite the rain - first earthcache ever!after short walk we reached the view and was able to identify the answer. we spent there a couple of minutes watching surfer.thanks for this significant cache! nice place for a walk.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Wasps head. Thanks so much for pin pointing all the very interesting rock formations and fossils! Happy to have grabbed the oldest earthcache in Australia! Favorite point awarded!

03-Apr-24
From one old fossil to another, this was a great walk around the coastline, spotting the incredible variety of geological features in this area. Thanks for a very informative Earth Cache with a little history in the making, especially being the 20th Year Anniversary of Earth Caches. Also, bringing us to Australias and the Worlds oldest Earth Cache - another bucket list adventure A favourite point for this one TFTC

An opportunity arose today to head from Canberra down to South Durras to find [Earthcache I - a simple geology tour of Wasp Head](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCHFT2_earthcache-i-a-simple-geology-tour-of-wasp-head) with Wollaston, HansandLinda and Honeysucker. Of course I couldn't pass up such an offer. We headed off, only stopping occasionally ?? and had a very enjoyable day in the sunshine while back in Canberra the weather was less than friendly. It was wonderful to finally tick this cache off my bucket list! I've been learning so much by finding earthcaches around Australia and the world and some of the geological details I saw today were awesome. Answers sent.A favorite point obviously. Thanks for find #6058TNLN

A great earth cache had us checking the spots on a lovely walk around the wasp. We made our way down but did not get wet. The tide was low which helped. Amazed to see this is the worlds first earth cache. Wow. Found on the Mega Capital Geobash coastal loop via Adelaide - Barrington - coast to Mexico City loop. A lot of caches and white line fever was sweated out. Thanks geoaware and clear skies from TeamAstro. ?? Cache the planet! ?? Caching around on the road trip that encompasses Barrington Tops, Sydney, the Easter Geobash Mega in Canberra then the return via who knows where to homeHow great to have the first Earthcache in Australia and actually getting here. Lovely spot, had lunch before going for a beautiful wander. Would never have visited this lovely spot if not for the cacheThanks geoaware for contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy.

TFTC geoaware your cache Earthcache I - a simple geology tour of Wasp Head that we found today. The Canberra Mega is over but we are staying in town for a few more days. We went out with Honeysucker, Wollaston and MeAndDe to Batemans Bay. The main aim was Earthcache 1 and Honeysuckers 19,000th find. We found this a fascinating area. The various areas we examined were a good lesson.Answers sent to COFind Count: 19534

This earthcache hadn't come onto my radar until the past few years.Pprime, T4mmmy and I pulled up in a very full carpark (thankfully a full carpark with enough parks for us) and made our way to the various points. We collected our clue - and I have submitted it to the cache owner.A fantastic little earthcache - with both geology and geocaching history about it. TFTEC geoaware Smile

We debated whether a trip down here would be too far off course but so glad we decided to go for it. We love ECs and are Platinum hiders. If we had detoured we would have missed the amazing Kings Highway and it's wonderful woodlands, twists and turns. And of course the beautiful, tranquil bay, the kangaroos and of course the wonderful rock formations. The tides today prevented us seeing them all at their best but happily we found a route to view the dyke. Answer on its way shortly and a photo with WiFi later.

Part of our Canberra Mega experience, T4mmmy, Fangsoki and I are returning to Brisbane the long way - and first stop today is here for the twentieth year celebration of Earthcaches. My first ever earthcache (and my 5th ever find) was number II in Canberra ... so long long overdue to come out here. And such a pretty area too. Not enough time today to stop for a swim (and a bit cool for this Queenslander), but walking around the headland was just lovely. Sorted out the logging requirement (please see message and photo from Fangsoki) and checked out south, east and north. Thanks geoaware for bringing me to this location.Cool*{Overall find #12424}*Cool

Day 18 of our roadtrip in Australia. We're leaving Canberra today to drive to Sydney. Not the direct route though, as we want to visit the two oldest Earthcaches on the way, so we'll head east to the coast and then drive up the coast towards Sydney, stopping along the way for some caches or a National Park. Today's main objective was this Earthcache and it was time well spent. So many geologic things to discover within less than 300m of beach. We loved the stroll. Also saw some animals up in the forest. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo

I found the parking spot I needed and then the trail. It was early so no one else was around. I was part way down the trail when I spotted a kangaroo in the middle of it! This was my first sighting of a kangaroo in the wild. I literally did not know how to do. I mean, I'm from North Georgia in the U.S. We know what to do if we see a bear, but a KANGAROO?!? I said, "Good morning" and took a photo but it wasn't moving. I stepped forward and eventually it hopped off looking for breakfast, I suppose. I have to admit that that experience was just as wonderful as logging this earthcache! As I got closer to GZ I saw another kangaroo, much larger, hop away. I'm glad it didn't visit with me but I was happy to see it!I have sent my answer to the CO. Thank you for the smiley, the kangaroo experience, and the fun!The day:Today I continued my month long journey from the U.S. along the east coast of Australia!! I was on my way to Canberra for the GeoBash mega and reuniting with the Aussie friends I left behind when I left Adelaide almost a month ago. I thought I'd make it yesterday, but I did not because I decided to head down to the oldest earthcache in the country. I had a grand day beginning with that one and ending in Canberra. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.

Ever since I visited Earthcace II some years ago, I have wanted to visit this earthcache. I was staying with a muggle friend in Wollongong and we decided to make a day trip of it. Good thing we did as there is so much to see at this location. We spent more than two hours here, absolutely fascinated. We took sooooo many photos. I have posted some that are not of the things to see at the various waypoints. I don't want to spoil this for others. My muggle friend was impressed as I read the provided information at each waypoint. As we walked from waypoint to waypoint, she began to recognise things as we passed them. Such an educational experience for us both. Thank you for bringing us to this amazing place and TFTC

Well this is a pretty awesome 4,000th find! We drove down from Sydney this morning, checking into our accommodation along the way then back in the car and straight for this one. We wound up driving up instead of down, so had a scramble down some very steep steps to access the waypoints. It was there we met Brisbane geocacher Selva Girls, and muggle friend, and continued with them to peruse the remaining waypoints. A really fascinating location, its great to have the cache information as you wander around to educate you, once you know what youre looking for there is really so much to see! Thanks so much, heres a favourite point.

Down the coast for the day, with one of our main goals being to visit this earthcache. What a fascinating place! I'm so glad we came and I'd like to thank the cache owner for giving us the opportunity to see these amazing treasures which we otherwise wouldn't have known about.Message sent to CO, and a favourite point coming.

Greetings from Seattle! I'm down under for the first time with jtcoffee to attend the Great Leap Forward in Adelaide. While here, we're naturally trying to pack in as much "bonus" adventure as possible, including (but not limited to) the following: Log our find finds in the southern hemisphere Find Lane Cove, Australia's Oldest Experience Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Sydney Drive the Great Ocean Road Visit the Lord of the Rings filming locations in New Zealand Tackle a challenge cache requiring 31 Earthcaches, and 31 Virtuals in 31 days (GC32TBZ and GC32TC2). I think this is number nine of 31! To be perfectly honest, Earthcaches aren't usually my favorite type of cache but it's hard to argue against stopping for one as iconic as this one. Plus, I have my own personal roadside naturalist to handle "the homework" so passing this up was completely out of the question. This one earns a favorite point from me for the great location - and also because it was fun to see Jessie completely in her element. Answers have been (or will be) sent for the both of us by jtcoffee. Thanks for keeping this in play and contributing to our wonderful trip to Oz!

Greetings from Seattle! I am lucky enough to attend the Great Leap Forward Mega-Event in Adelaide with my fellow Lackey and best geo-buddy giacaches, and we hit the road today down the Sapphire Coast after arriving yesterday in Sydney. Let this amazing road trip begin! We had a ton on our list today, per usual, so after grabbing some breakfast we started in. We are keen on getting a bunch of EarthCaches and Virtual caches on this trip and this marquis cache was top of my list - I had been talking about it for weeks! I loved exploring this area and seeing the lesson unfold. Thanks so much for keeping this one going and I am grateful to have been here! Also special - we saw our first 'roos here - such fun! Answers have been sent for both of us. Thanks so much for adding to this amazing trip!!

Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeMe and MrV sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway

It is wonderful to visit this place after traveling from Norway and be tutored by the first earthcache about the surrounding geology..EnglishWe are six Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. We travel by car and Geocaching helps us discover many nice places and often helps to decide where we choose the route between our goals which are: Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dunedeen, and Adelaide. This is one of the caches we found on the trip and we thank you for showing us this place. We who are on tour have the nicknames: MrVonsr, ingsve, EllenSch and TeamEika. And signs the logs with N4.Great thanks for showing us and doing our tour wonderful NorwegianVi er seks nordmenn p tur i Australia og New Zealand. As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4.Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.

#17.622This EC was the reason why we traveled from Sydney to Batemans Bay with a rental car and an additional overnight stay. On site, we could absolutely understand why the first Earthcache was published here at the time. It is fantastically beautiful and very interesting on site. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to log our 3,000 EC here, a few are still missing. We are honored to have come here today. Thank you for showing us around and for the information.TFTC

#10212 (17 of 20 today - including 5 Adventure Labs)Headed down to Bateman's Bay, and environs, in the Geowife's Mugglemobile for today's event at Wasp Head. It was a long day, starting the drive down before 8am and not getting home until 11pm - utilising a long stop at the Gong on the way home to make sure I stayed awake.Having a few hours "to spare" before the event, I took the opportunity to grab a number of caches around Bateman's Bay. By the end of the day I had 20, including five ALs by the water. That included, of course *Earthcache 1* at Wasp Head, which was the focus of the day - Happy 20th Anniversary.###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###And here is the jewel in the crown, the first Earthcache. Happy to be one of many celebrating its 20th anniversary. With a goodly number of attendees I headed off to this one. So much amazing geology packed into a small area. Those of us looking at the question for this cache were pretty unanimous on the answer - which can be unusual for Earthcaches. An amazing spot and an amazing cache. Have a favourite.TFTEarthcache

I arrived at today's event just in time to be able to log it as "Attended" and to meet up with Mighty Minions. I hadn't met her before and consider myself lucky in many ways to know her. Having left my muggle friend in the car, I was heading towards this incredible Earth cache and joined up with Mighty Minions who very kindly helped me up and down some of what for me were trickier rocks. Once at GZ we spent quite some time admiring the views. Then we turned our attention to the question, the answer to which I shall send to the CO. I am awarding an FP for the simplicity of this cache. I love that we can learn from the description of the cache and not be overpowered by being given too much information. I understand that some people are passionate about their Earth caches, but many Earth caches have become like Science degree exams. So huge thanks to the CO for the introduction of Earth caches and for publishing one that teaches us and awakens our interest in Earth caches.

Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.And how great it was. It feels a little bit as a pilgrimage to visti the oldest earthcache in the world. Thanks very much for keeping it alive. All the CO's, and in this case geoaware, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.

I just had to log the very first Earth Cache for International EarthCache Day 2023.On a recent visit to the Sapphire Coast, we detoured to South Durras and Wasp Head. From the little carpark, we wandered to the viewing platform, then followed the steps to the rock platform. What spectacular views from each WP! Fortunately, I had put them into my phone app, so getting to them was easily located. We were so glad we stopped by, as it was well worth the visit. Thanks for the geology lesson. I must tell my geologist son to come here one day. We found the features at each WP, and enjoyed the sights and description in the cache notes. Have a FP. TFTEC

On the drive down the coast we stopped out lovely South Durras for a visit to the world's first Earth Cache. We were not disappointed. The headlands showcased a lot of geological features and Geoaware guided us along the highlights.Well worth a favourite!. TFTEC.

Such a great earth cache, and I'm so glad to have finally got here. I love an old cache but this one was quite special.

This cache has long been on my to-do list probably since it was first published, and I finally managed to get myself on the NSW south coast to visit it.
All stages were interesting to visit especially the fossils.

I have been to this area of the world many times and never thought to check if there was an Earthcache nearby. While staying in Batemans Bay for a much needed holiday I decided to grab this Earthcache. I also went to Mogo Zoo and had fish and chips at the harbour. Thanks for the cache and the Adventure.

We have looked at this earth cache for many years.
Now that we are back in Canberra, there was no excuse to not come and visit for a day.
This one was definitely the focus for a trip to the coast.
With winter sunshine, but brutally cruel wind, particularly while we were camping under the canvas, we still could not resist the opportunity to come to visit the first ever placed earth cache.
Over the years, we have enjoyed so much geology in many countries as a result of earth caches. It all began here!
Answers sent to the CO, and we are happy to finally log
GCHFT2, Earthcache 1.
Awesome!
Thanks geoaware

Find number 30,000
Wanted to do something special for this milestone, had a few different trips that I considered. In the end I opted for fairly close to home and an Earthcache as I like Earthcaches. Paying my tribute to the mother of all Earthcaches felt like a good celebration.
Arrived in Batemans Bay yesterday, still with a few finds to spare.
Stayed overnight and after a couple of finds it was time for the big 30k.
Enjoyed my walk here, plenty of geology to take in.
Like the dropstones, my favourite location.

Thank you for this special cache

CaptainVimes and I are on a driving holiday from Melbourne to Canberra this week. This was one of my main targets for the trip. The geology here is just fascinating and we spent some time wandering around the waypoints and reading the information. I couldn't spot any fossils though. Thanks for the earthcache geoaware

The Disc is about 10,000 miles across and about 30 miles thick at the Rim, but a lot thicker at the Hub. At the center of the disc a large mountain (Cori Celesti) reaches into the sky, whereas at the Rim a large amount of water continuously flows over it (Rimfall). How this status can be maintained without running out of water is unknown, but probably is also caused by the Narrativium. The Rim is partially surrounded by a fence called the Circumfence, keeping people and ships from dropping off the world. Major oceans are the Rim Ocean and the Turnwise Ocean.

2023

️never been down this way

I've been wanting/trying to come here for quite a few years...
Intended to come through after my AUSmer qualifying trip in July 2019 but ran out of time to get to a Mega and took a different route.️

Then I planned to visit over the 2019/2020 Christmas break. Cancelled those plans because of the horrific bushfires.

Rescheduled it for later in 2020 but covid reared it's ugly head and no-one was going anywhere.

Last year my beloved geomobile got to it's use by date️ and had to be replaced amidst a shortage of suitable vehicles which took a looong time, so it's only taken me 5 years to get here!!

A few days ago something went ping! in an old injury so it was get a moon boot or go home.
I was very fortunate to find one in Wollongong so now I'm able to get going again.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE EARTH CACHE!!

Ducked away to South Durras for the weekend with Baristayan for a bit of time away, and decided to fire up the cache machine to see what was on offer in this delightful corner of the world.

Turns out the oldest Earth Cache on the planet just happens to be here!

We headed down to the beach for a swim, then jumped onto the Wasp Headland and started following these coordinates…what an awesome geological time tour explaining how this headland formed the way it did. Mother Nature remains the greatest artist of all time, with daylight second.

Thanks for such an amazing experience! Proper buzzin after that one

Wow, THE OLDEST EarthCache in not just Australia but the world! How awesome is that?! Trying to write a log worthy of the honour. ??
I’ve always been a ‘rock hound’ or bowerbird as my husband calls it, picking up, marvelling and bringing home ‘rocks’ from all over the place. My husband has always though this habit is a bit ‘nuts’ and that I must have rocks in my head.
We started Geocaching back on 28/5/2014, we found our first EarthCache on 21/9/14 GC2D875 - OREBODY Broken Hill (NSW) AUSTRALIA, we bumbled our way through the answers and decided we liked being ‘taught’ something.
As our journey through central Australia continued we found a couple more, we soon got ‘the hang’ of EC’s, then we got to South Australia and stumbled across some of Freddo’s EC’s, I can remember GCZM4J - Did the earth move for you too? As being my first ‘favourite’ EarthCache and from then on Prof Freddo was my geology teacher. He’s taught me a lot over the past 9 years, mainly great geological knowledge sometimes just dad jokes. Since then along with @Freddo, @Micaparamedic, @TeamCrackers and @Moneybox they have become our favourite EarthCache hiders and we are proud to have formed friendships with them too. <3
I’ll never forget running into Micaparamedic at his Lake Eppalock EC where glacial scratching was the lesson - Kellams Rock (Glacial Pavement) GC51QNF, just as we were in the car park saying goodbye, he excitedly pulled out a lump of Granite to show us, he was taking it home to identify. That was about the point my husband realised there were a whole heap of nutty EC groupies out there! It just validated me and made me feel more ‘normal’ to know other people drove around with lumps of rocks on their cars to ‘identify later’.
We are at 3200+ finds now 540 of those finds have been Earthcaches, we have hidden 252 caches with 116 of those being Earhtcaches.
Our caching style has changed in recent years, we have been travelling Australia for the past few years and finding ‘all’ the geocaches doesn’t interest us anymore. We target Earth and Virtual caches mostly, we love being taught about earth science and have learnt a great deal through EC’s. Orbicular Granite, Glacial Scratching and multi coloured sediment being some of our favourite geological features to learn about and see. If it wasn’t for EC’s, I doubt we would catch much at all anymore. Thank you so much for placing the first one.
A fav from us TFTC

As hatzofff wrote, we extended our journey to Canberra from Sydney South via Batemans Bay especially to pick up this notable earthcache. It was an interesting journey to the top of the cliff then, well, Mrs RoddyC made it down with any incidents. What a beautiful part of our country.

hatzofff has performed the penmanship duties for this cache.

We extended our journey to Canberra from Sydney South via Batemans Bay to pick up this precious earthcache. It was an interesting journey to the top of the cliff then, well, will I make it down or not? Sitting down on the job, I made it down with any incidents. What a beautiful part of our country. The waves were breaking against the rocks but I was able to enjoy the view at the waters edge.

Interesting as I child I would try to make out what clouds looked like. To day I was looking at that rock and I could see a tortoise standing on all fours (about 1.5 mtrs high), ready for take off.

TFTEarthcache geoaware and for bring me here.

Thanks geoaware for placing this awesome Earthcache, took eight years to visit here but it was certainly worth the time and travelling to see this beautiful Wasp Head. Enjoyed all WP's, each different but very interesting on their own.
Highly recommended for anyone to visit and a favourite point coming your way.

Teamnanbombana, Membsec, Nyssaflutterby were on the coast for EC weekend.
This EC was our reason for our whole weekend's plans.
What an amazing place to visit. We all enjoyed visiting all the waypoints and finding the fossils in this location which is not a tourist destination.
We were the only people out here today and the weather held off for us too.

Spending a couple of days in and around ACT with 3 Queenslanders and 1 Tasmanian, then down to the coast for a few days! Weather not great so we have been trying to get caches that are not long walks so we can keep reasonable dry.

Due to this weekend being “Earthcache Day” we were aiming at doing as many Earthcaches as possible and anything else that we thought was worth a stop. Found with Nyssaflutterby, teamnanabombane and wombles&co.

It rained so much last night and first thing this morning that we were a bit weary of what we may achieve today. We enjoyed looking around here and this cache was the reason for our trip and it was probably the highlight of our trip. We felt that we learnt so much at each WP which encouraged us to explore and think and the great scenery just made the day a wonderful day.
