"Ernie was only fifty-two, he didn't want to die
Now he's gone to make deliveries
In that milkround in the sky
Where the customers are angels
And ferocious dogs are banned
And a milkman's life is full of fun
In that fairy dairy land"
Like Ernie, this cache has gone to that big Plastic Box in the sky...
Thankyou to all the finders and apologies to the DNFs!

We had no luck finding this one either. Having enjoyed many Bear hunts I'm still not sure that it isn't there. May have to take a tape measure next time. I remember the song well, the horse was Triger.
Found both photo clues alright, but GPS was not being very helpful. Bit muddy in that area today, so will come back and try again. Sounds like it shouldn't be hard to find. Just not my day today.
UPDATE - Oct 01/05: Went back with Blimey Limey to have a really good look again, but found no trace of this cache anywhere. A couple of trees have recently been removed, however. Perhaps it was in one of those.

The path was closed off due to a huge tree having fallen and demolished someones fence. Looks like all these trees may get felled because of their age. May need to keep an eye on this cache in case it gets the chainsaw![B)]

A lovely spot, even in the dark! Not too much trouble finding it, thanks for the photo clues. TNLN
We just fell in love with this reserve as did our Christchurch friend who did not know of its existence. In fact later that day, he took his very elderly mother there for a gentle stroll.
While we were there, we discovered hundreds of monarch butterflies lining the nearby bushes - it felt like something out of a fairy tale. Thank you so much for this cache.
We took a tiki and left teddy bear magnet. We wondered if the horse's name was Trigger.

Nice easy find without photos or hints. Paced out distance along track from last good GPS reading and what do you but there it was a good spot with a little cache waiting for us. + toy car - hippo keyring. Thanks Bears. Ridders76
Thanks for the cache, a nice stroll in a hidden area. Papa smurf new of the fastest milkcart, and tried to sing it to me, with no success!

GPS played up,was checking it when I heard a couple say "Are you one of those geocaching people" They were very interested and if there is a Dennis out there, it was your friend Murray.Took nothing,it is a very busy path.
Found it just on dark, the gps had a bit of difficulty under the trees. Nice hiding place. Nil traded.
I know its April Fools Day, but I really did find your cache. All I had to do was to stroll along the trail in the cool shade, and bear left!! And my GPS was doing OK, even under trees. Didn't even need the hint pictures. No swaps. Cheers, Grandalf
Nice day for a walk, found the cache after walking up and down the path a couple of times. TNLN Cheers
Found it with katcha and sundry cousins' assistance, always pleased to start another keen geocaching habit.
cousin visiting from auzzie introduced me to geo-caching, am now addicted. nice reserve well known as am local. great first find
Nice little spot. Had to walk up and down the path a couple of times to get bearings (bear_Leftings) due to sketchy coverage.
TNLN. Thx.

What a great place for a summer evenings wander - and a good cache to introduce my brother to caching.
Kept singing "Ernie" to help find the cache.
Thanks for another great hunt Bear_left

A bunch of young girls were having a wonderful time kayaking down the river - it looked like it was their first time. Quite a few people out and about enjoying this cute little park. Thanks. TNLN
8:50pm What a busy wee park, lots of people out walking with their dogs! Found it quite easily after guestimating the distance from the track.. Thanks for another one Bear Left!

This cache will be archived between Christmas and New Year's Eve, 2004, so you'd better get on with it if you're planning to find it!
So excited to see a TB was in this cache, we went out in the pouring rain with boys in tow, to hunt for the cache. Found easily as was slightly uncovered.

13:36 Long walk from the city but worth it. Walked past a guy who kept grinning at me - fellow geocacher who had seen my GPSr? Cache easily found - sat by the water to write log. TFTC

Just loving daylight savings ... dropped in by bike - this was my closest geocache on my list. So many people walking at 7pm, and here I was, standing with a white printout looking for a certain tree (Which I didn't actually locate!) I was just thinking, "Oh well, I guess I'll have to come back when there's less people" when I saw a likely spot (Thanks to the hint). Quickly checked if anyone could see me then ran in, grabbed the cache, threw it in my bag and biked on out of there. Filled in the log down the track at a nice hidden picnic table. Was going to put in TravelTigger TB that I'd just bought back from Scotland, but the box wasn't quite big enough - but he went along for the ride anyway.
Thanks BearLeft - although I'm still not sure what this cache has to do with milkcarts!

A lovely evening stroll with the neighbours kids who found it quite easily after a clue. Dropped a special travel bug and novelty gift and took a car and keyring.
[Having been tempted by tales of the brave new world of paperless caching, I set out with brand spanking new Premium membership and Pocket Query loaded in the trusty iPaq. Now, if I could have seen more than one screen-full at a time I might have remembered the "one pace away from the path", but eventually found the cache without too much difficulty. A few passers-by passed by, but luckily none during the search and discovery.

+ Green butterfly to go with Dalmore's pink one. (If the next person to open the cache finds a whole flock of butterflies you'll know they've been up to no good. )
P.S. If my early childhood memories serve me correctly, I think the horse's name was] something to do with a gun. []

Madnut, Tokala and Georgia went Gator hunting.
We found the cache very quickly (just before a muggle came along).
Baby Gator decided to come with us for a ride. We are off to the West Coast in a couple of weeks, so we thought Baby Gator would like to ride along and hide in a cache over there.

Found on a balmy midwinter morning. Peaceful and quiet, no walkers as mid week. Left TB Baby 'gator who has been far too long out off the road. You can see from the photo that she is keen to move on, although doesn't mind be in this spot - its a change from being in the dark!
Also left butterfly, took halloween statue.
Thanks, Bear_Left. Rod M

Nice little reserve next to the river. Had to be very careful with lots of people wandering by. Took us a while to find, the reception wasn't very good under the trees.
What a nice park! The big trees are very impressive. We struggled a bit at first (reception isn't great under those trees), but when we deciphered the clue it was much easier. Cheers for a great afternoon's walk.

What a nice wee park! Easy walk in to the cache, but sat reception wasn't the best. After no joy in the first fifteen minutes, tried the GPS again and that proved more fruitful. Good hidy hole. 0X. Cheers Gav [199]
What a neat wee park. Daniel (4yrs) and I are on a mission around ChCh to get as many as we can before heading back to Southland. Our 1st off the morning and what a busy wee place. Had to hang around for a while too be able to put it back . No exchange.
Thanks for the diversion. Off up the hill now!!

Wow, a new cache with a travel bug in it, how could I resist making this my first cache for the day.

Thanks Bear_Left for keeping us active and alert! We would never have known about this area but for your cache. We walked the entire track then made excursions into all the side parts and out on to the streets to see where it all fitted into the landscape. It must have been fabulous when it was all one big homestead.
Thanks for showing us yet another new Christchurch walkway.

Dammit, I knew exactly were this cache was due to having scoped out the area a couple of days ago. A really nice walk along the bottom of the hills all the way to 'The Stone House' if you want a longer walk (about an hour). Like BaldEd we found the cache without the GPS. -Laser Pointer +Katie Bug +Halloween Statue +1Mb Memory Keyring

Cycled past on the way to check the repair of my GPS. Thought I'd see if I could find the cache sans GPS. Missed the Sallies by 30 minutes. The Leapfrog Greenie Meanie TB hopped aboard my bike and is off to explore the world and hopefully get back to Texas one day. No exchange. Thanks Bears.
