17-Jan-21
Now living in Blenheim and unable to get down to this cache for 2 months

02-Jan-21
DNF
Sadly, after getting my pants and shoes wet on the wet grass and catching some thorns in my fingers, the cache still eluded me.

18-Nov-20
Very inaccessible couldn’t find container nor bottle.

09-Oct-20
Chance to change to a smiley face, log very wet, easy this time no sign of a beer bottle! I miss read the hint first time.

28-Sep-20
No sign of the container or beer bottle

05-Sep-20
Kim 5-9-20

09-Aug-20
Hint was not that specific and was really overgrown

11-Jul-20
Afraid the brambles won the smiley in the end ️

29-May-20
Bouncy drive to find this one. TFTC

28-Dec-19
Wearing jandals was a stupid move. Terrain is more like at least a 3 when you take into account all the holes, long grass and blackberry. No way a wheelchair is getting in there. Was considering retreating after being attacked by thorns when I spotted it. Cache is very damp inside. The d/t ratings are way out on this cache. CO could consider changing them to reflect the conditions. Thanks for the hide. Have been meaning to stop here for years and finally had no time commitment so did so.

14-Nov-19
A special stop for this one as it’s old and filled one of my missing months. Did a bit of planning before driving this way. Thanks for maintaining so long. I’ve only just started placing cache this year so hard to comprehend they could be round for years.

14-Nov-19
A little out of the way, easy find, very nice place.

31-Oct-19
Yep we finally found it! TFTC ! Log book water logged

23-Oct-19
Looked everywhere could not find walked away with a few wounds but will be back to try again .

18-Aug-19
Lovely walk. A few muggles around on dirt bikes. Tftc - pretty damp though

22-Apr-19
After spending Easter in Geraldine and a bit of tiki touring around it was time to head home. Of course with a few more stops along the way. Arrived at GZ and GPS was a bit jumpy. Wasn't fussed on the direction I was heading as there were big holes in the grass and thankfully on my retreat it showed I was in the wrong place. Not long after cache was in hand without anymore holes TFTC

04-Apr-19
Thanks for the cache! Is a bit wet. I have tipped the water out bit is still very damp

17-Feb-19
Took a bit to locate and got the odd thorn. But good search

17-Jan-19
I had a quick look in here a couple of years ago but the GPS was jumping all over the place. Today it was a quick find. Nice to find this old cache.

06-Jan-19
Nice oldie. About 300m from GZ, a tree was lying on the gravel road, but walking through was no problem. The grass at the final was a problem, however. Search took a while.

04-Jun-18
#15750. GZ wasn't an appealing prospect; long, wet grass, big hollows, blackberry. We searched for quite a while, and all we ended up with was some war wounds (partly because I expected the "undergrowth" to be a bit more substantial). In the end, I searched in some long grass, and located the cache where Troodles had already searched! Whew (we weren't keen on having to make a return visit). TFTC.

04-Jun-18
Our last day in Waimate, so we thought we'd better find some Waimate caches before heading back home to Christchurch . We set out at 8am on a grey dismal morning, eager to find as many caches as possible before the forecast rain started (luckily it remained dry until late morning).
Another cache that we have driven past many times so were keen to turn into a smiley. I couldn't believe GZ when we got there - no way could a wheelchair get anywhere near! And the search took ages as well as we had different interpretations of what the hint meant (hint was essential as satellite coverage was not good here). Finally StreetWalker found the cache right where I had been searching. Phew, pleased to turn this into a smile, it was hard work. TFTC.

21-Feb-18
Found it

19-Feb-18
Thanks for the find #Team Awesome

17-Sep-17
Great wee cache. Mr 4 loved this one as the grass was quite over grown and we had to do a bit of exploring. Thanks so much. Log book was a bit damp but still ok

20-Jun-17
I have been to this one twice before and hadn't found it but after getting info that it was there and not that hard I thought I better try again.
This time 2 minutes and there it was. Don't know how I missed it previously. Tftc

22-May-17
Found all safe and secure on my way home after a bit of a geo adventure with team_macdonald TFTC

15-Sep-16
Our for a run after a morning in Temuka. All is fine with the cache, log book is now just damp so easy to write on now. Cheers

10-Sep-16
Spent too long looking for this cache. Will come back in the future to try again

24-Jul-16
Found it, but the contents were very wet after last night's heavy rain. We picked up the soft-toy trackable which fortunately was in a ziplock bag, and therefore dry. Managed to sign the wet log and re-hide the cache. As others have said, def not a T1 with such rough ground and lots of thorny branches.

24-Jun-16
It's been many years since we placed this cache. Nice to find that some kind cache has maintained the cache for us replacing the wet logbook. Dropped off a traveller

13-May-16
Found with 2wombles on our way to Dunedin for a gathering. Thanks for the cache.

13-May-16
Was heading south with Popmac for a family gathering and this was a cache we decided to get on the way down. This cache filled a gap in my "Month Placed" grid, so it was on my list to find. Managed to drive to within 50 metres of the cache, and the cache was soon found. Thanks for the cache, and for maintaining it for so long. Cheers.

25-Mar-16
This had been in my machine far too long!. I had to come up to the Timaru Airport for a pick up and as the plane was delayed today was the day!
Relying on autorouting got me close but no cigar!
I had noticed an area on my way through so backtracked and saw the track, it all started to make sense!.
Drove along in my 2 wd ute and the numbers were coming down!
Parked up and after a brief walk and several encounters with brambles as I cast around, made the find of a dampish logbook ( could still write in it no problem ).
Left very happy!
Thanks

Yes I have to agree with past logs the d/t rating is completely incorrect. ..it would be true if u drove up to the edge of rhe grass in a car...but the moment u leave the road the terrian is going to whip right up to a 4-4.5 on account of heavy under growth deguising large holes in the ground between ridges of earth... not to mention 2m high grass that is a mortal enemy for us hayfever sufferers. .or the plentiful and merciless black berry arms stretching back and forth at the indicated gz....

I cant comment on the difficulty. .because a number of trees seem to have grown up at gz in two lines..meaning there are already more than the two trees indicated by clue.....and I didnt go any further onve I foybd the holes and the grass...it simple was jot worth the itching and sneezing!
Next time iam coming back with a flame thrower and a d8 bulldozer with air conditioning. ..so at least I can clear the site to the advertised d/t and have some hope of finding it;)

But did find this interesting spot along the way with tape on the tree at right saying something a kin to "police line dont cross"....what was that white stuff on thr ground...I thought it was from popular trees.. but oerhaps some one in a down sleeping bag had been ripped to shreds?

04-Oct-15
Not sure if I picked a good day for a walk under the trees... Gale force winds all around, but at least absolutely completely no muggle in sight! Upon inspecting the road over the dip, I decided to proceed for the last 800m on foot... Although some parts were ok, I do not think this is 2wd territory... Great spot for a cache, but I do think the rating is misleading. As the previous cachers noted, it takes a bit to find, so D1 is out. As far as the T1 is concerned, a cacher in a wheelchair does not stand a chance! Even if they had a mountain wheelchair or a 4wd to get as close as possible, the ground of the last 3m or so would be out of bounds. I remember the frustration when I was caching on crutches after ankle surgery, carefully selecting T1 caches, then getting there just to find that the last few metres pose an insurmountable obstacle, and I will not be able to get to the cache. Really nice spot for caching though, and it would be good to have more realistic ratings. TFTC!!

28-Dec-14
Lol. A bit of small scale bush bashing before we looked in the right place. Needs maintenance as the log books are saturated.

27-Jul-14
Tricky one because of long grass but the GPS took us straight there. Tftc

10-May-14
See this hadn't been found for some months. We walked the track and shared it with several Can Am buggies. At least we could hear them coming!!! Cache all warm but damp. Needs some attention, but still usable. Thank you.

14-Jun-13
I was supposed to be heading out the long slow way to Mt Somers to do a overnight tramp and had a few objectives to met on my trip. I was meeting some friends at the Pinnacle Hut on the Mt Somers Walkway, grab a few solved puzzles around Ashburton, Peel Forest and Geraldine, and grab a few 'date placed' caches to fill the old grid. Not much really Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin. My plans were foiled by a dicky knee!!! I made the decision to pull the pin a km into the Mt Somers walk as I was getting a pain in my left knee and it was too cold and too late in the day to press on. So I headed back home via an even bigger loop home. This one tickled my fancy as a 'date placed' cache. I took the wrong turn and couldn't find and access road via the way I chose and backtracked to the bridge. I did drive all the way to GZ. I was looking at the wrong spot and failed to correctly read the hint so it took way too long to find. I was visited by another friendly piwakawaka. Glad to get the Smile on this one.

Number 8 of 11 for a wee 500+ km loop.
Thanks for the cache.

02-Jun-12
Took a little while and needed the hint

10-Apr-12
We nearly gave up on this one, not where co-ords led us tho it looked a likely spot. And it had started to rain and the grass was long and wet, but just spotted in time. Cool

08-Apr-12
Oh yay, a DNF to start the day Wink

17-Mar-12
Glad we had our trusty 4WD & found with the help of hint. TFTC

10-Mar-12
Had a look for this roughly a month ago. Couldn't find it, and wasn't going to take my townie car down that track again. A nice evening tonight, so Mr Bairdy (always up for a challenge) put the quad bike on the back of his car, and off we went. The kids loved the bumpy ride on the quad, and the log was signed. TFTC SL

Found it after a bumpy ride Smile

TFTC. Still around in this fairly harsh environment after 7 years. Route was a bit challenging to the old car. This area will get tricky as the warmer months arrive.

21-Jul-08
Not enough time for the walk, so I bounced along the road to give my car an excuse to be cleaned!! Easy find. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1209)

08-Mar-08
Drove to it in dry conditions, lots of pot holes. Our GPS had us well away from the cache which I eventually found interpreting the clue correctly. No sign of the ... must have been removed some time ago. Took TB and left a swop

23-Feb-08
A very quick find, no cover on the cache at all. Swapped TBs and left it in a bit more of a protected state. Thanks.

04-Jan-08
We stopped here for a nice quiet lunch, away from the traffic.
Found after reading nofs log about reinterpreting the hint.
