As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Is it time this one was archived, looks like the owner has lost interest in the cache.

Our friends from Twizel took us with them to the clay cliffs. We searched for about 30 minutes, nothing found. It's worth a visit!!! Thank you

STaying at Omarama and always come up here sometime in the holiday. Very hot day. Searched hard and agree with conclusion of last person looking, probably washed away. Couldn't see any remnants. Lovely swim in river on way home.

Spent about 40 minutes looking with no GPS coverage. Looked by all examples of clue but to no avail. Seemed to be a lot of material washed down by the recent heavy rain, so maybe cache dislodged or buried or maybe we were just not up to the job. About 20 very serious looking photographers showed up just as we were leaving so would have had to give up any way. Despite not finding cache it was still a great place to visit.

Like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Very little satalite coverage and after about 45 mins of hunting we gave up Sad
Decrypted the clue but still didn't help.
Will have to put this on our second time lucky list, any hints would be appreciated!

Found without too much trouble, GPS gave a small signal up to about 15m away, just carried on heading in the same direction and wallah! Did scottie and Barry Crump make part of a commercial here... seem to remember the landscape from somewhere. Don't know about the five dollar road charge, does this mean we don't have to pay for a tow out if we get stuck?

Great hide. Nearly died trying to find it though. It was raining and the cliffs were shedding rocks down on us! TFTC

Well, my GPS was absolutely no use once I went up the narrow defile - just got no signals at all. So I tried the hint, and spent about 30min looking carefully at every single instance of the hint - with no luck. It seems from various past logs that clay and stones get washed down frequently in here, and maybe the cache has been either washed away or buried under debris. I'll have to come back for another try some day.

Leaving the area as snow no good so stopped to do this one on our travels. Awesome plces for kids to get EXTREMELY muddy!Wink Came away after finding the cache with a million stones of different colours that the kids Had to have. Just what you need when you are traveling! Great place to put a cache and well worth the visit. Cheers

Been meaning to do this cache for a long time. Finally made it and really enjoyed the lovely view and the great cliffs above. Wonder how long they will last before they crumble away. Took pig keyring and left torch keyring. Thanks Tassie & Lizzie

Stopped in late-afternoon on a drive back to Christchurch. Nice wee spot, very quiet except for the burbling of the river below. No exchange made. Cheers Gav [512]

Loved this cache. The kids had a wonderful time scrambling around the cliffs while we waited for the numerous muggles to leave. Searched a few places out of sight of the muggles while we waited for the muggles to leave and we could check the place where we thought it was.
+ doll key ring
- travel bug Let the game begin
We will take it out of the McKenzie Country.
Thanks

A facinating geological site well worth visiting. Current cost is $5 to use the private road, guarded by a number of healthy looking bulls! The road is a little rough when I visited. We were there in late afternoon and took some great photos. Had a paddle in the river...rather 'refreshing'. Thanks for the hide. In; Cards. Out; hair clips

Fairly badly eroded but managed to stumble across it without using clues.
Amazing place, have looked at it from highway but much better up close.

Our third find on our tour through N.Z.
This one was difficult, as we didn't have any descriptions with us, just the coordinates. And our GPS showed only the general area. However, Deniesel was lucky and almost stepped on it! Just pure luck!
In/Out: nothing

We found the TB (Schwarz-Weiss-Baer), and took it but so far the drop hasn't been logged.

Took us a while (busy spot on a long weekend), even with the hint, but the unusual setting made up for it. Great.

17.20: Omarama! One of the places we like the most in New Zealand. It was our third visit in the little village and as before we stayed in the little Sierra Motel near the "airport". We enjoyed the beautiful views to Benmore Peak at sundown. The Clay cliffs we knew already: at the first visit we only passed by and were surprised by the strange shapes of the ground. The second visit led us on Henburn Road to gate where we had to pay for using the road to the cliffs and it thought it would be too expensive. And now we had a really important reason to pay and drove into Wink... With the 4WD we didn't came close than about 400 metres. The washings in the soil were to wide and deep to try to cross with the car. So we left the car behind and tried to get closer on our feet/wheels. It wasn't that easy with Gabi in the wheelchair, because the path has been damaged at many points. We left her behind in the hot sun of the high country and went into the cliffs. There are not so many places to hide a cache - well, without dangerous climbing - we got it after a short search due poor satellite coverage. The large towers of mud, stones and pebbles look a little bit dangerous, as if it would be crash down in the next moment. Then we drove further along the Henburn Road, had a bath in the Ahuriri River (surprisingly warm!) and returned to the Motel.
Thank you for this cache!

Biked to cache site whilst in the area for a hanggliding meet. No pigeons in sight. Several roses to hunt around and only 2 satellites. Thanks for the excuse to visit at ground level, as have occasionally flown over the area. Thanks Tazzie and Lizzie

Our first cache of 2005 and also our first cache for a long time. Good to be back on the hunt! Found with some difficulty as the track has been washed away - remains of wooden steps visible - cache was covered in mud from the outwash from the cliff and very hard to see but the contents were dry. Took nothing, left a Black Bishop.

We had always meant to come in here so the cache was a good excuse. The scenery - cliffs and plant life is amazing.
No exchange - we just took lots of photos!
Thanks for the cache

[Wow - First to Find it.
Nice spot, though the road toll seems a bit steap.
Recent rainfall has washed out the track, meaning that it is 4x4 only about 100M earlier that the 4x4 only sign.
The rain also seems to have undermined the rocks next to the cache.] There is a water race about 1M deep next to it.
[no exchange made.]
