All good things must come to an end, so it's time to archive this cache event, and get the next one ready to go.

Anyone still wanting to try the puzzles is welcome to e:mail the answers to me for checking.

And thus, it is over.

Well you will be happy to note I have sold off my wild horses so there is nothing (but the wife) to keep me from coming to the next one, and if she tries I can set up a "how to divorce" multi cache.

This was such an excellent cache and I only hope there are others at the next. The time and effort put into 'Mission Improbable' was truly legendary stuff.

I went to sanity, they said they were all out so I got a Jack Johnson CD. Mix didn't get lost and I haven't recieved word back from A6 about how the Bra and panties fit, so I guess there comfy.

Cheers Rat.

Well, I've been waiting three months for A6 to log his find, and even after numerous verbal proddings, he still hasn't managed it. Maybe the memory of his safecracking is still too much for him...Red Face

I'd like to thank all those who attended, they certainly seemed to enjoy themselves. I apologise for any brain damage caused by the puzzles. For those that didn't get to come along, I'll post the clues here as JPEG images, and leave this cache open for one more month before archiving. Anyone who wants to test their abilities can e:mail me for an official scoring.

As for the rankings of those that did attend:

Big GrinThe Red Ochre team of Bronze and Mix76 came first in all areas, solving the puzzles and burning rubber, and got first pick of the vouchers, scoring a Sanity (Bronze can definitely use this) and an Australian Geographic between them. They did incur a 10 minute penalty on the first clue, but after that Mix's brain seemed to think in ciphers. Very Scary.

Big GrinA6 and Stormin'Norman managed to make it the finale in second place, and had incurred a total of 20 minutes of penalties along the way. After waiting 20 minutes to get a crack at the final lock, sweating that Crimson8 didn't blow through the door, they took another 20 minutes to solve the last puzzle eight different ways before coming across the right one. Well done. Eventually. Stormin' took the Toys R Us voucher, and A6 got the Bras N Things for his missus (at least he says it's for her...).

Big GrinAnd the Crimson8 team. Maybe they came last by an hour or more, but they had only incurred one 5 minute penalty to check an answer, and were the most persistent couple I have ever seen. They did manage to score the last voucher for Paddy Pallin, and a well earned rest.

I was planning on re-jigging the waypoints slightly to make it a tricky multi cache, but after only a week, most of the waypoint containers had disappeared in what have turned out to be high traffic areas. So, Mission:IMPROBABLE is definitely no more.[xx(]

As everyone seemed so impressed by the whole thing, I plan on another with a different theme altogether. But I don't want to disappoint, so I'm taking my time to make it just as tricky and fun as the firstWink. At the rate I'm going it'll probably be sometime in 2005, so keep an eye out.

Absolutely Awesome-

This was the most fantastic cache I have ever done and the best event I have ever been too, including my own Beni Challenge. The Rat has out done himself and I doubt there is anything left in his bag of tricks for the next event. Just incase there is I'm definatly returning. Not only was it worth the drive (4hrs to and from) but it was worth the effort on his part too.

I was disappointed for the Rat that there wasn't a few more teams there but hey - it was great catching up with A-6 and meeting for the first time Stormin Norman and Crimson8.

Each waypoint was improbable, we were whiping all over Maitland much to the disgust of the teams hot on our tail. Code breaking and "outside the square" thinking on the move - Three cheers to Mix76, the lateral thinking king who I think was a rally driver akin to Possum in a past life!

Cheers Rat - Hanging out for the next one.

Well what a day, I am sure it would have tested the best intelligence covert training organisations in the world.

The secret package was amazing, and after engaging the brain
(not the easiest thing to do on a Sunday) we were soon on our way to the first waypoint.

Mud & Graveyard
Yay

The next two we picked soon after but we made a tactical error on the fourth I think it was by second guessing the clue for the fifth, which led us back to the starting point but just not in the right spot for the final cache.
A re-examination of the fith clue, made us realise we had made a big mistake and a run into the mall was needed.
By this time we had secret communications to indicate that the rest were starting to eat back at main base.

So arriving a good half hour or so late and 3rd first place.
We finnaly made it to the Steel HQ.

A great afternoon Steelrat, it would hard to imagine anyone coming up with a better concept, the bar has been raised.

I forgot to log BugMe#3 into this event which is fairly absent minded of me since FRED (The can opening pisshead) got him plastered at the BBQ and he spewed prawn all through Scaryfluffs Liberty for the first two hours of the trip home. Lucky the car was a loaner eh!

Wow…. Wow…. Wow!

What else can be said, it was an amazing cache event Steelrat did an absolute great job. I had a fantastic time. This was so good because it was an achievable but very challenging at the same time. Each waypoint was as entertaining as it was hard. You set a new benchmark Steelrat, bring on the next ratsplat cache.

I hooked up with a6 at maitland park. We got our kits & we could not work out the riddle we hade to take a 10 minute penalty.

Then we were off to the cemetary for the first waypoint. Found it easily because we saw Mix and Bronze hiding it away again. I decoded it and we headed for Stockade Hill.

We had trouble with this one, and took another penalty before getting to the gaol.

Finally made it through all the waypoints and got to the end, just to be stumped by the combination lock. 20 minutes later we got to open it.

We got a gift voucher each and had a BBQ to swap lies about how good we all were.

Top day! Can't wait for the next one.

MISSION UPDATE:

Twas the night before cache event and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, except for the rat.
SteelRat that is.

OK, if anyone is bothering to check this late (or early on 14/3) there will be 6 info packets at the primary site.

If the weather holds, the primary site will remain the command centre, for BBQ, Mission Debrief, etc.

Should Hewy look unkindly upon us, all participants should still meet there, and will then be given maps etc for secondary site.

All participants will be sent scurrying on their way at 10am. Ring 0411 236906 if you expect your arrival to be delayed.

Anyone wanting to pick up an extra couple of caches while in the area (and possibly a FTF or two) can check out 'Swarm' and 'Pitch Black', newly listed as at 13/3/04.

Look for a table on your arrival, or failing that, someone standing under a tree trying not to get too wet.

UPDATE ENDS.

Mix76 and I are looking at a green light from the powers that be!

All going well we will see you there Sunday. Might call in Saturday afternoon if were heading past. My mobile number will be 0411444334. I won't be able to ring out or text. In coming only. Just like a GPSr!

I won't be attending this now. I only have this weekend free from work, for sometime, so other important activities that have been put off for the last few weeks or brought forward to allow for the break in my work pattern have been scheduled.

MISSION UPDATE:
At this time there will be a total of 6 information packets created for distribution at the primary site.

If weather proves a little damp, all participants are asked to meet at the primary site, and will be given full instructions/directions for the alternate wet weather site nearby. A BBQ will be available at both sites for those who choose to bring along things they would like made black and crispy.

To allow Mission Command to assist in the event of difficulty with problem solving, participants are requested to supply their own mobiles and/or UHF radios if possible (UHF channel 15).

Passports and secret decoder rings will not be required for this mission. However, as the maximum straight line distance between caching points is approx 6km, reasonable transportation is advised. Your own local street directory is not necessary, but wouldn't hurt.
