As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Hi TgaWookie

It appears that this cache has been inactive for quite some time. Is it going to be replaced or should it be archived to make room for possible future caches? If the cache owner does not contact me within Three Weeks, I'll assume the cache needs to be archived.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,

Regards,

Up From H.B. visiting family. While they worked, I went out finding some caches. Haven't been to The Cut in years. What an upgrade. Nice spot for a picnic. Cache was soon in hand, log signed and placed back in quick time. Cheers.

Hitting the trails with the 1HIK crew (11hpg11, HKCB, iammrwalker and myself) on a mission to help them clear Tauranga caches.

HKCB and iammrwalker jumped out while I decided two was enough and provided moral support for 11hpg11 to turn the car around. The found the cache within seconds. There was a kayaker in the water and a very well-behaved dog following him down the road. It kept left! Amazing!

19-Mar-16
Yet another mission/meander/drive/caching blitz/story telling to Tauranga/Papamoa with some of the Hamilton crew. An early start was on the cards so that we could make it back in time so a couple of the members could make it back in time for the Night Glow Event held at the Waikato Uni. So at 4.30am 11hpg11, Kyb3r, iammrwalker and myself plied into HPG's new caching vechicle and headed out for the day. As usual a fantastic day out and a bonus for the day was that the weather was on our side, even though it didn't look like it. A big thanks to all the CO's for the placements, we signed the logbooks with 1HIK (our caching names put together) to save some room on the logbooks.

Mrwalker and me jumped out while HPG turned the car around. The cache was quickly in hand and no spikes to the butt, and with the logbook signed, returned and the TB grabbed, a bit of leg was shown to get HPG to stop again. Thanks for the hide.

19-Mar-16
Another trip to Tauranga/Papamoa area with a group of Hamilton cachers. Today we planned to clean out a bit more of the area, just one more we keep saying, but new caches keep coming out all the time. Today our team consisted of HKCB, Iammrwalker, Kyb3r and myself. The logs were either signed with our names or HIK1/1HIK to save room. Today I was designated driver and that came along with a new set of challenges but we survived and didn't make too many wrong turns so all is good. A nice early start, left Hamilton at 4.30am so we could be over in time for a night cache plus plenty of other caches before a few of us had to be home for the Hot Air Balloon Night Glow event.

I had read the previous log about getting your passenger spiked in the butt and I was a little excited about this but I didn't hear any complaints from either passenger so either they didn't mind it or perhaps I overshot the spikey bush. Dropped them off while I turned around the car and admired a very well behave Collie type dog who obeyed the road rules better than many drivers I saw today. Decided to slow down to let the guys back in the car for more cache finding. Had the camera ready but didn't see the funny house

13-Mar-16
I found this Geocache along with HKCB, 11hpg11 and Kyb3r, a bunch of overachieving Geocachers from Hamilton. We signed the logs 1HIK to save on log space. This was our fourth sojourn or ‘mission’ as we like to refer to these trips, to the Tauranga area and even though we had limited time due to family commitments in the evening we still managed to find more than fifty caches and be home before dinner. This was due mainly to leaving at 4:30 in the morning. Credit needs to go to HKCB who came up with the plan and 11hpg11 for driving. As always we had a great time. I discovered HKCB has a big one, that the TV show Samurai Pizza Cats was far more than just a teenage mutant ninja turtle rip off, that when it comes to night/ early morning Geocaching ‘it's all about the lumens’, that road kill can make for amusing hood ornaments, that hpg has a big hole and that clapping in a state of the USA may well be the funniest thing anyone can say at 5am. A big thanks to all the cache owners who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found today.

11hpg11 dropped us off and turned the car around while HKCB and I made the find. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the container and we picked up the TB. We were forced to 'show a bit of leg' to ensure we got picked up again. Thankfully HKCB's a little more toned than me which I suspect is the reason we were collected, not that I minded. TFTC

28-Feb-16
Left TB. Nice catch, use to work here. Always wanted to come fishing out here. Thanks for the find on this nice sunny day. Signed Barker & Teq.

27-Feb-16
just a note; if you're doing this with more than one person and you park on the same side of the road as the cache, your passenger will probably have to get out directly on top of a prickle bush. it might spike them on the butt. they might not be stoked about this.

23-Feb-16
Use to come down here fishing quite often yrs ago, must find time to do again.

27-Jan-16
Found this one on the way to do some fishing with Nickkal. Be careful of the thorns, they are quite unpleasant ! TFTC

Great cache find on CHRISTMAS DAY!!!

10.40: Visiting historic Maketu: nice village, never been to before but often very close. Lots of people fishing this morning. The road was crowded with vehicles of all kind already. The quite historic cache itself was an easy find, although very well hidden.

Weather: overcast, some sunny spots, very windy, 20°C;
Wheelchair: no problem in general;
State: all good.

IN & OUT: nothing.

Thank you!

12-Jan-14
Fourth find of the day. The cut was busy with lots of fishers and a few muggles driving down the road. Collected a bit of rubbish on the way back to the car parked in the boat ramp area. Left a swappable SLTN

14-Oct-13
So many whitebaiters nearby.

13-Oct-13
Should have studied the map better... managed to get to Maketu before turning around and finding our way... and then finding the road that would have lead us straight there from the Kaituna Wetlands cache!! Oh well, tiki touring time! TFTC

01-Sep-13
Lots of people at the river mouth but no one nearby. Easy find when you looked harder. TFTC

27-Jul-13
Nice easy find, not too much traffic.

27-Jul-13
Yay found it this time. And it was easy! I have no idea why it was so hard last time. There are four reasons why it was good to find this cache. It was a Find after a DNF and they always feel good. I found a TB and moved it on. We need this particular 'minute' for the 176 degree challenge, AND ITS OUR 600th CACHE!!! Another milestone. Having to travel further and further to pick up caches, though. All good stuff. TFTC

13-Jul-13
Maybe we didn't press in far enough, or maybe we were looking in the wrong hidey hole. Either way we didn't find it. Getting cold and almost dark so decided to come back another day. Thanks for bringing us here. Might come back with the fishing rod next time to catch a kahawai. We had a Maketu Pie for dinner. Yum! Best pie in the world.

01-May-13
Used to come down here to go fishing but it was always too crowded. Sad

Found the cache no problem, retrieved the TB and dropped one off for further travelling. The funny house sank some time ago, only the Keep Off sign still remains above the water. [xx(]

Very big crowd down at the river mouth, hope they were catching something.

Thanks TgaWookie

#123 - Going on an Easter hunt for caches, always nice coming down here, lots of people out fishing today. This was was fairly obvious but tricky to get to, so much cutty grass, i couldn't reach, luckily my partner was brave and reached in for me!!
Tip: wear long sleeves for this one.
Left Shelby TB to move for the next person.

27-Jan-13
Quick cache on a amazing day!! Lots of fisherman around. Tnln TFTC

08-Jan-13
Found after a failed attempt at fish n chips in Maketu. We were also slowed by a cattle crossing on our way to the cache. We waited for the crossing to complete but a less patient truck went through the cattle. Didn't know that worked. We didn't mind the wait. TFTC

06-Jan-13
The cache itself was straight forward. This is the first time I have been to Maketu Sand Spit -an awesome landscape, and interesting ecological area. Thanks for bringing me here.

On a mission with Novalightning today and after a quick stop on the way over we were working on clearing an area of the countryside neither of us had ever investigated much, so on the mission continues,

Thought that we had hit auckland rush hour with the amount of 4x4's and boats trying to get down the nearby ramp

TFTC

19-Aug-12
Second time lucky. Came this way over a year ago when we were newbies and was unable to locate the cache. What a difference a little bit of experience makes. Found immediately. Helped a little by the clearance of the roadside and the cutty grass was a shadow of its former self. TFTC

19-Jun-12
Needed to get away this evening, so decided to do a bit of night caching. An easy find despite the mass of cutty grass surrounding the cache. TFTC.

Easy 'team' find in this interesting area - one chatted with a nearby fisherman while the other ducked behind his car & found the cache. So the fishing was good today, all round. Bit bemused about the funny house, but did find an interesting All Black supporter...TNLN TFTC
