It is with great regret that I now have to archive this cache [:(!]. On the way home from the GF, I thought I'd do a check of the cache but all I could find was the front page of the log book sitting on the ground [B)] and the empty container, sans lid, sitting in its normal position [xx(]. I can only assume that it was "ransacked" today but ultimately, it's finished!!!

The cache has been pretty controversial since day one but I guess now, coincidentally, it goes the way of our chance of ever seeing a team win 4 GFs in a row within our lifetime ie Kaput!!!

found this one on the third attempt. first time it was dark and co-ords had me in the bushes. second time the area was swarming with kids.
TNLN signed log.
Thanks EuDes

Found at 4:10pm. The rain was coming down in bucket loads. We were forced to run short recons from the car on each step of the mission. No problem locating the clues or the final cache.

Thanks for the hunt EuDes from D, S, H & A B-A. Took an echidna, left an elephant.

Thanks EuDes - this was our first Geocache sought and found! It was a lovely winter's day and the location was conducive to dragging 2 young kids along. They even asked when our next treasure hunt will be! We didn't remove the rubber dragonfly, but took the crayon fun kit and replaced it with a bubble mix and an echidna.

After bagging our first one I can now predict that this geocaching business is going to be a most enjoyable activity that holds no frustrations whatsoever.

17-vii-04 1500 hours (#58)

After being hounded by the evil Dr.No and his "instant cliff (tm)*" set on our last attempt at this mission, our spies were going to be prepared for anything on this attempt.

SCUBA gear ... check!
Rapelling kit ... check!
Inflatable cow ... check?
All terrain vehicle (ATV) ... check!

Luckily we checked for data integrity before attempting the mission; the evil Dr.No had been at it again! Egads the evil fiend had used his mind control ray on us, I could not have made such a stupid error unaided!! (or could I?)

Approaching GZ, ninja mode activated ... objective completed Smile

T: Silver Car
L: Pencil Fun Set

Dr No's evil minnions did try to force us off the road enroute to the next mission; luckily the ATV was too much for the Audi and we continued unscathed. Score: Pajero=0-damage Audi=1-bonnet,1-headlight

-----------------------------------------------
"instant cliff (tm)*" You only need to attempt this part of the mission if you do a quick'n dirty lookup in the Melways, and don't actually think about the terrain you are playing in (DOH!)

What a view! I came down the right road and as I drove past, I picked up the clue frm the first waypoint.
Off to the second and the GPSr had me quite a way away, but nevertheless, the landmark is obvious.
I will then admit I got confused with the calculation methods. Not sure whether I can just read them a different way or not, but after ending up looking longingly into someone's backyard, I tried my 'other' approach to the calculations and there I was, on the track again.
My GPSr had me in the middle of an open area, so I was terribly confused and kept checking for any other alternatives to the maths, but I kept on getting the same answer, it must be here somewhere, but where.
After struggling for over 45 minutes in places that were out of the way, but seemed likely I finally caved in. I have to pick up J from school and I was starting to run late. The ever helpful dak provided enough information for me to head the right way and a moment later I came across the cache.
Ummmmm. I didn't even think of looking there. Doh !
I took a ladybird bookmark and left a bouncy ball (I think).
Thanks for the cache EuDes, much appreciated.

Found at 0920 in company with barcoder on a wet, cold, windy (basically miserable) day--first of eleven for the day. Nice easy find. We obviously started in the right place, because we didn't have any cliffs to climb. Smile The maths are OK, as long as you follow the BODMAS rule that you would have learnt in primary school. Like many others we knew the meaning of the cache name once we got to GZ.

IN: Toy car
OUT: Nothing

This was the first of 12 for me to do for the day. Dak had 11 to do. A cold, windy, and sometimes very wet caching day was ahead of us.Sad With Dak navigating and me at the wheel of the GeoBeamer we started at VTAM. The photo of that cliff was a 'worry' but, with Dak 'sussing' out the best approach, we soon got to the 'seat' of it.
Nice one EuDes.Smile

IN: Dragonfly
OUT: Yowie

We expected to find the final cache in a different park but didn't have any trouble with the arithmetic. When we got to GZ, Liz guessed the hiding method and pointed out the most likely location and that's where it was. We found it in about 2 minutes and at 6:05pm there was no one around to worry about. Took a cute plastic magpie goose and left a beetle book-clip. It wasn't till we were replacing the cache that we finally understood the cache name. Thanks EuDes for bringing us to this park.

'Tis still there.

Also, at the risk of advertising, Melways 30 and beyond is in WGS84 Map Datum. Before that edition (I think), the map datum was AGD66. There is about 200 metres difference between the two map datums. The single star rating for terrain is 100% correct!!!

Visited by The ELTHAM Mob.
After parking in the car park off Separation St, and discovering "I now have to climb that!", I was on my way.
Found WP1 and WP2 and was in the correct location at GZ'ish.
No luck today locating the cache; it maybe the Magellan 2K being it's usual helpful self but the clean up due to the new fence has me concerned. Will be back with the E-trex to see if my luck changes.

Found on 21/04/04 at 1700. After miscalculating and ending up in a Medical Centre carpark I did my sums again and located GZ.

I agree with Derringer's comments, I didn't feel too comfortable either Twisted, so didn't hang around nor make a log entry. Too many muggles and children playing on the equipment.

Had a good walk though Smile, mainly due to my miscalculation.

20-Apr-04
Found at 4.15pm after a 5min search.
Didn't feel all that comfortable at GZ.
A lone middle aged male hanging around children's playground equipment is not a good geocaching image.
No exchange as I wanted to leave the area asap.
Thanks EuDes

Found on our third visit - there were just too many people about on the first two occasions and we had to wait for some damp weather Smile Nothing exchanged. Greg and Bev

31-Mar-04
The mathematical formulae gave a couple of options for each clue point - I got the first right and the second wrong but I arrive at the cache without too much trouble.
Took some shampoo that has left its mark on the diary and left a pencil sharpener.
Thanks EuDes for allowing me to discover another park.

It took me three visits to this cache to get the coordinates for the final location correct. I know that I should have worked it out, but everything within the brackets is used to give a number, which is the whole three digits for the points of minutes section of the co-ords. Also if X = 3 and Y = 9 then 4Y times X would equal 49 x 3 (=147). I tried all sorts of things before I worked this out. Once I had the correct spot for GZ (not in a doctor’s surgery car park or through the park to the west just inside someone’s front garden), the cache was an easy find. I made no exchange. Thanks EuDes for the challenge.

It's still there. In fact, after the scare of the first week, I'm ready to downgrade its condition to "serious, but requiring observation".

18-Mar-04
I found the first two waypoints in this one, but at ground zero I felt rather exposed and in an uncomfortable spot to be digging around for something that was not initially obvious. I checked my calculations and I was in the correct spot…

10-Mar-04
Ok from what EuDes is saying I think the problem might have been that I didn't add a zero to one of my calculations, as mentioned in the PLEASE NOTE section. If you don't do this then i think you end up at a golf course.

We did end up about 55 m away from the second waypoint by using the second set of brackets but this is relatively close compared to 1.5kms away!!

Anyway to cut a long story short if your follow the instructions outlined by EuDes then there's no issue.

Regardless it was still a fun cache.

10-Mar-04
I shall recheck the co-ordinates this evening but I don't think that placing the brackets around X plus 2 will get you to the correct place. Watch this space!!!!

*************************************************

Later: OK, I've checked and rechecked the co-ordinates and they seem fine. I put the mathematical expression suggested in the previous log into my GPS and found myself in a group of trees 55-m from the second waypoint.

I even checked the first waypoint to see if it had been vandalised, which might have altered the result of the mathematical expression, but all was OK there.

I will stand by the arithmetic of all expressions given and assert that NO BRACKETS ARE [red]NEEDED[/red] WITHIN ANY OF THE EXPRESSIONS!!!!!. If you remember the arithmetic order of operands and follow the two clarification "Notes" in the posting (the second one is a new one), you will be fine. Good luck.

After approaching from the west we realised that we were on the wrong side of the starting point as we ended up at the bottom of a cliff and could see where we were meant to be. So we treked back to our car and drive back up to the bench. NOTE THERE IS A MINOR BUG IN THIS CACHE "S 37° 46.(16 times X plus 2)’" SHOULD BE "S 37° 46.(16 times (X plus 2))" as we also ended up at the golf course. Anyway eventually got back on track and after much searching found the cache. Took rubber frog left hotel shampoo.

Found after a 10 min search. Looked in all the usual cache hiding places, and then found it in the unlikely spot. No wonder it's getting plundered. Fortunately there were no kids around today. Took & left nothing.

Found by Mary & David at 1135. Loved all the references in the cache name, the views were great and the walk very pleasant. Sorry we didn't get to that first cache in time, but we enjoyed this one, and hope it goes the distance. Took yowie, left magpie goose. Our thanks to EuDes.

Found 14:45, after an initial miscalculation had me preparing to search someones house, based on the sentence "GZ might be well inhabited" until I realized my mistake, and recalculated my final destination. When I arrived at GZ there was the cache sitting there ready for the next passer by to find, luckily it was me and not some geotrashing muggle, otherwise this cache may not have lasted any longer than it's predeceaser. Removed a tea light that had started to melt in the heat and ruin the logbook but left nothing.

Thanks Eudes.

Uh, oh. It may be rampant paranoia but the BB log doesn't sound too good. I'll check it again tonight. If Geomuggles have found it, it sounds like it might be doomed.

***********************************************

Later: Well, I've got good news and bad news. The cache is not dead, however, it's in a critical condition and now on life support!!! BB had put it back in the correct position (well done) but it has been partially plundered (all the coinage had been removed) and obviously left for dead [B)]. It now only contains two Yowies, the rubber frog and the log book and pencil.

I will leave it there and check it frequently but be ready to see it archived. Until it passes away, either swap nothing or maybe only Yowies or Kinder Surprises or the like.

- Do not place anything of value into the cache.

- Do not place Travel Bugs into the cache

I won't leave any more hints as I still think that the final find is pretty easy eg, BB knew where to put it back!!! As such, if you need to spend any significant time finding it, it might well be gone.

Went for a quick cache find with teamkittens in the afternoon. The first spot with the nice view was easy to find. Lunch was from the noodles place up the road was eaten there. However we had some problems with the math and ended up at a golf course 1.5km away. Worked it out a different way and found ourselves on track for the second location. The cache itself was easy after that. Nice hiding spot in a quiet (at the time anyway) location.

Please clarify the math a little more so noone else gets confused like we did. Brackets may help!

This was a nice morning Multicache. The last location was a bit tricky but I managed to find it.
Cache found at 0730 sorry no swap I left them at home.
Thanks EuDes for this great cache I sure this one won't go missing.

Found this one at 1:55 during my lunch-break. I was given a subtle hint by EuDes in an email which led me to imagine how it was to be hidden. When I arrived at GZ, my suspicions were confirmed. The find was almost instantaneous.

I've scrutanised a number of nearby parks but this one had escaped my attention. Its a lovely park and a great place for a cache.

I took a rubber ball and left behind a sticky frog. Thanks, EuDes, for the cache. Let's hope this one lasts a little longer.
