We had been walking in this area earlier today and then we noticed this one which we could drive to and also have a short walk along the beach. The beach was empty, except for two people fishing from the shore. The sky today was quite moody and there were plenty of wind gusts as we walked.Just one ship in the water ahead of us which made quite an impact. Then it was time to head off the beach and up the short walk to GZ. After a short search we found this lovely old hide and as always, it is great to find an ammo tin out there in the bush or the wilderness. Its a lovely location and a great place to have hidden this one. All safe and well here. Thanks Lyn Pat and Nathan Domsky

28-Apr-23
Yaaay found it

20-Mar-23
Wow. That great to hear it's still there. We had been working on how to get there soon to check on it. We may still call past in a couple if months and move it closer to the access track.
Thanks for the cache logs

19-Mar-23
Nice hide

19-Mar-23
Found it

17-Mar-23
Please don’t archive it. One of the older caches left in WA gotta keep it going.

17-Mar-23
We plan to head down that way in June so will try to have a good look at the location. Maybe we can move it towards the carpark and then it would be out of the drifting sand.
We will do it best to keep it active.

19-Feb-23
Had a good look.
No sand overblow.
Reckon it's definitly gone.

Nice walk and lovely beach. Thanks for bringing us here.

19-Feb-23
We are trying to decide if this cache should be archived. There are much better placed caches in the area and perhaps its run it time.
We will give it a thought and see how we feel in a couple of weeks.
We know we are heading that way in June/July, or sooner if we can find a bit of free time or if we come back via that wa from Kalgoorlie in April.
If someone is interested in placing a replacement container it would be appreciated but we would like them to decide if it's worth keeping the cache location.
We may place a new cache closer to the carpark area as we know people love a drive by cache.

31-Jan-23
Its possible that this cache may be a but covered by sand. Its ok If a team wants the replace it with another container but make sure you place something weighty in it (like a brick/rock).The wind up here is strong during storms.
We are heading down there during may so wont be able to replace the cache until then but as we say is OK if for another team to replace it in the mean time. We will still check it out when we are back down there. Thanks

29-Jan-23
Had a hunt through the bush but DNF.

We went for a beautiful birthday walk along Ledge Beach this morning with 2 adult dogs and 3 pups. First time at the beach for the little ones and they were knackered at the end of it!
As we have been to this cache before, we can't claim it as a find, though it was like a new find, with the last find 13 years and 2 days ago! Must have been one of our fist caches, as we started caching in 2008 Smile

25-Jul-21
Prickly

Caching with Kapelula, Meme28 and Burn345 during WAGB event. What a great weekend of caching. Our aim for this weekend was to collect our solved puzzles , caches that worked towards one of the many challenges we are after and anything else that took our interest. Caches were found in great condition. Logged as MIKB

This one was alway on the cards for today a quality old cache for our Jasmer. Made our way in and our GPS were all over the place. We went high and finally found it by looking from the right angle. TFTH!
A fun morning tackling the Whale Tail during WAGB 2021 with I C Nothing, Meme28, Burns345, Cirrus_WA, SirFancy and LauraTheExplorer84. Logs signed as MIKBCSL.

A big day today with an early start. Machman and picked up McFonz at 6:30am, returning at 5:30pm after a fun days caching. Started with the Whale Trail and finish back in town.
Took a few minutes to get to GZ, and a few more to eventually find it. TFTC

05-Jun-21
Another one ticked off our must do list while out on the whale tail expedition. I will remember this one as I helped Kapelula up the sand bank with an almighty shove in the derriere. Quite funny really... Thank you LPN!!!

05-Jun-21
Certainly a big day today with an early start. Out with Spatial Riq @ McFonz from 6:30am, returning at 5:30pm after a fun days caching. Started with the Whale Trail and finish back in town.

Cruising around with a large team grabbing caches during WAGB21.
• • • • •

It was numbers day for me today teaming up with SirFancy, LauraTheExplorer84, Meme28, I C Nothing, Kapelula and Burns345 to tackle as much as possible before official duties called.
Started the morning chasing a couple of new caches before heading out to complete the Whale Tail geo-art.
Managed to snag find 3000 throughout the day and filled a D/T grid at the same time.
Slowed down in the afternoon chilling with the kids at the caravan park before checking some sights out before the FOTT event.
Spent the night with the team again for a good meal before retiring for the night.
Looking forward to tomorrow and the adventures it brings.

Thanks for the cache log and the direct message. We are heading off on holidays in a couple of weeks and will try to get there after we return.
If our caches cant be found they are usually missing. We make them easy to find.
If someone is nearby feel free to drop a replacement for us...just make it something that a muggle wont want to take like a plastic fruit container (it may need weighing down with a rock so it does not blow away). Dont use an AMMO box....that way to tempting for a muggle.
Thanks for the info and sorry to missed out on the find this time.

26-Jul-16
Had a good search, went above high tide mark, to the point of scrambling, which clue said you didn't have to. Not sure if we found the horizontal track that was supposed to intersect vertical track. Got down on hands and knees to look under prickle bushes.

We had a nice stroll down the beach with the geo pooch loving the chance for a run!
Cache location was quickly found and cache in hand! TFTC

01-Sep-15
The Albany Young Naturalists found it last Sunday. We didn't like the idea of climbing an already eroding sand dune, but we did, as we had been looking for a while and the kids were all super keen. My kids and I are keen to do more. Our weekends will never be the same again.

07-Jun-15
Found it just before the rain set in!

Thanks "Mistraluna" we will see you at the Busselton event next month and thank you in person. We owe a few favours to teams now for helping us out but we plan to head off for a trip next month through the SW and Central west wheat belt and will make sure we fix as many other teams caches as we can while we are out there.

15-Apr-15
Back here today to replace the cache and drop off a couple of trackables.

13-Apr-15
Oh dear, have fallen behind on my logging, again. Found this one on my last Albany trip. Headed eastwards to clean up some unfound caches over this way. Awesome scenery around this part of the world.

Unfortunately, the cache had finally succumbed to the elements, with the side of the ammo can rusting out in places. We cleaned out the sodden mess that was inside (the logbooks were salvageable fortunately), and replaced the cache where we found it.

Being such an old cache, my companion thought it was worth the effort of returning a few days later with a new ammo can prepped and ready to go into service. All good again now. I dropped in a couple of trackables to continue their journeys.

Thanks for placing this cache soooo long ago, Lyn Pat and Nathan

20-Jul-14
Found on a lovely winters afternoon had the beach to ourselves. 1 of our favourite places Smile TFTC

14-Jul-14
Very wet / sunny day so thought we would show friend new to caching some. When we found this realised must have forgotten to log on original vist 12/4/14.
So we left a TB dexter. TB 54XTF to enjoy the spot for awhile. Then Big Bang from approaching storm before we made it back to car the hail started. Most interesting day. TFTC 2nd time around:)

14-Jul-14
First cache of my career!

11-Jul-14
TFTC! Have had this cache eyed off for quite some time and made my way out to Ledge today to make the find. Great spot that I wouldn't have known about without caching. Thanks LPN, well worth the scratches all over the arms and legs. Dropped a TB. Listed TB is not in cache.

11-Jul-14
The cache will need some help in the ear future the ammo tin is severely rusted and has holes in it, consequently it is damp inside.

10-May-14
This one took a bit longer than it should have. But not one to give up quickly it was soon found. Cache was quite wet inside. We drained the water as best as we could and stood it up straight. It has some holes in the side, so laying it on its side will allow more water to get in. Thanks for a lovely walk along an almost deserted beach. Can't beat the Albany beaches!!

10-May-14
Found after a short search. Nice day to be out and about on this quiet stretch of white sand and blue water. TFTC

26-Apr-14
A greet spot we visit often when warmer. The pickles and hill definitely keep it interesting in the dark!

A pleasant afternoon at the beach with a geocashe and a picnic thrown in.

14-Apr-13
Found today with our new geocaching friends! Beautiful beach!! TFTC

31-Dec-12
We took the very corrugated road down to this beach and from the description I thought it was going to be an easy find. No such luck. There were many paths in this location. Mmmm what are horizontal and what are vertical. After examining most of the bushes around GZ I eventually found it. It is starting to look a bit rusty but then it has been there for a while.

17-Nov-12
Shoes are a necessity for this one. Dead prickle bush leaves don't mix with soft feet!! But the cache is a biggy though you'd do we'll to bring a pen and sharpener. I had a bit of a go at the pencil but it was so dry it kind of crumbled. Tftc and bringing us to this lovely beach. Hint. Veer left then right!!

02-Aug-12
dropped off travel bug

21-Jul-12
A beautiful beach but another lesson.....READ THE DESCRIPTION! We hadn't in our haste to "get a few in" this afternoon and ended up trying to approach GZ from the bush track. Once we realised our mistake, the walk along the beach was very pleasant and we watched some muggler swimmers braving the southern ocean cold as we passed. Our co-ords were about 7 mts out and on such a clear day this was surprising. As another finder mentioned, we found the cache only after searching and searching where our GPS was saying 1 mt, then trying another track and seeing the cache on our decline. Thanks Lyn Pat and Nathan for bringing us out here.

13-Jul-12
After a morning of Albany history, we wanted to have a stroll on the beach and let the kids run. The weather held off and we loved this spot. Didn't take too long to find the cache. TFTC TNLFSL

08-Jul-12
A lovely wintery day in Albany. By the time we found this cache we were windswept and cold. It is amazing how bad moods disappear when you find the cache! We also saw whale, which really made our day. TFTC

26-May-12
Almost gave up. Decided to change tracks and saw it coming back down. Great hide. Thankyou Big Grin

11-Apr-12
After a spot of fishing on the other end of the beach, we went in search of this cache. Couldn't believe that the beach was deserted on such a warm day and we located the track in with ease. However the next part was not that easy for us as the GPS pointed us to a 'horizontal' track quiet near the beginning of the dunes. We spent a good 20 min searching this area to no avail. With the lack of success the 2 junior boomers went to play on the beach. About to give up I decided to broaden my search area and found another horizontal track a little further up. Bingo there it was quite exposed but in good condition.
Thanks Lyn, Pat and Nathan. One of the many great beaches in the Albany region.

28-Dec-11
Found the spot ok and a few tracks. And lots and lots of prickle bushes! But alas no cache. Will try again another day.

A nice empty beach and low tide. Great views thankfully to admire after the bit of climb!

04-Oct-11
Well our visit to Albany was drawing to a close today, so a lazy start to the morning was the order of the day! Finally making our exit from the apartment we realised the weather had set in. We were off for a rainy caching day.

Dodging the showers today, but we were lucky here!

We enjoyed the stroll along the beach on this overcast day. No muggles about today that was for sure, although plenty of footprints!

TFTC Lyn Pat and Nathan

Honestly not a fan of this cache, sorry... I know this cache has been here for years, and its obvious with the amount of distruction in the area. Personaly im not a huge greeny but i was under the impression that geocaching is an earth friendly past time... Dont get me wrong, great beach and coastline but think we should be looking after it.Twisted

14-Aug-11
found under a very prickly bush!! ouch, good cache hide

20-Apr-11
Tried fishing here today but nothing today, so decided to find this cache. TFTC

09-Apr-11
This is one of my favourite beaches and finally finding the time to get back here and grab a cache was most welcome. I hope people follow the instructions carefully as sand dunes are a very fragile environment. I found going higher on the main track and then coming back down made it easy to spot the cache. TNLN Dropped TB TFTC

WanderingAus wandered by, meandering around Albany ahead of GC2KA92 WA Caching 10th Birthday Bash - Albany 2011 by tangowithcupcake, and chose this cacxhe specially to be my 3,400th find. My selection was based on studying the "Geocaching.com Google Map" around Albany for a nice looking but possibly challenging location, then eliminating anything below Regular size and below Difficulty 2 Terrain 2. As usual Lyn Pat and Nathan didn't let me down, a really great spot worthy of a milestone cache.

The steep sand dune had the gpsr jumping all over the place - most of the time it could only see 6 or 7 satellites, so having projected an approximate line from the open beach I decided to head up the dune, then course to and fro, slowly descending and hoping for a find.

It only took just over 10 minutes of to and froing to achieve what ended up being a fairly easy GAFF 0 find. To my surprise I had passed within a metre of the cache on the way up the dune, but had been too busy choosing a route up to actually search for the cache.

My find No 3400, L Special 3,400th Find Calling Card (a collectors item, see attached photo), TNLNSL, dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC and my WanderingAus GeoMobile TB in for a visit before grabbing them back again.

*Recommended* *Overall Experience: 4*

T4TH Lyn Pat and Nathan, this one was well worth the scratched legs.

31-Oct-10
nice easy find.....but the word prickles prickles prickles comes to mind! Great childhood memories from this beach.....so i loved taking my 3 kids for a walk/play there this afternoon....the sand was soooo squeky today.....it sent shivers up my spine. Thank you

16-Oct-10
The Canucks enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach, before finding this cache and heading home. Nice walk down the beach, and a lovely beach it is too. Not sure how safe it would be to swim here though? If you follow the instructions carefully, the find is very straightforward, and the biggest issue we had to deal with was some muggles strolling in our direction as we were putting away the cache. Took the Mr Light Pig trackable, to help him find new adventures. Thanks for the cache.

11-Jul-10
tftf great spot always went there growing up lots of memories droped off mr light pig Smile

30-May-10
this is a nice beach however i believe the cache should find a better place to live. this is not a very eco/earth friendly cache. coastal ecosystems are very fragile ecosystems and this cache had us tramping over the sand dunes and as hard as we tried not too, the fragile vegetation too. i hate to think what damage could occur to this area when there is a group of people searching for the cache. perhaps relocating it to the carpark area would be better. cachers can still check out the beach without causing any unintentional damage.

28-Feb-10
One of my favorite spots here in Albany . A very windy day with streams of sand blowing down the beach in the 50kmh plus winds. Went up the first track I saw 5 or 6 times as that was where the gps was showing fell over coming back down 4 times [xx(] . About to give up walked back a bit and accessed the area sure enough there was another track nearby and bingo. Thanks for the cache a wonderful beach to wander down . Had some very photographic places .
Left a shell painted by my 4 y/o daughter Abbey .

Beautifull beach.
We had a great swim here before finding the cache.
Thanks for bringing us to such a great place.

08-Jan-10
Went out for a walk this morning (after a drive) and decided on this cache. This, along with every other beach in and around Albany, have got to be the best beaches in the world, clear water, squeaky sand and not a thousand people fighting over a square of free sand.

On getting to GZ had a bit of a search but finally came up with the goods.

TNLNSL

Thanks
