I was going to rework this cache but as it seems any cache I place in Newcastle is going to be judged solely on the basis of its swaps (which I only ever include for the kids, not seeing the point for adults) I don’t think I’ll bother at all. Also don’t expect many new cache hides in Newcastle from me any time soon.
There is currently work going on at the GZ of WP1 so I couldn't get to the marker without climbing a fence.
found on the 3rd go. Didn't log the first 2 attempts as they were interupted by the presence of several Muggles. No such problems this time though.

Teamed up with Shonkylogic for a bit before they headed back to Adelaide. We enjoyed the views at the first destination. Took magnifier and left golfball. Thanks Mix.
Bruce wanted to make this one a drive-by, but I wasn't sure about the clearance in the hire-car, especially with 4 people inside. Bruce and shonky made the walk while the girls stayed in the car in the shade. TNLN.
Decided to go for a walk after working out the coords.Great 360 views. Took keyring left keyring.
Thanks Mix.
PS Cache needs pen. Would have left mine but it was the only one I had in the car.

Found this one with Roanish. Great view frmo starting point, bitch of a walk to the cache though.
Tailander and myself decided to do a few caches today.
Got to the waypoint listed and solved the puzzle quick enough. Only 800 metres? we decided to walk it.... which was a pain. Wish we had driven instead.
Got to GZ only to find that our GPS was putting us 20 metres off the cache hiding spot.... luckily, Tailander remebered the clue, and with no muggles around, it didnt take long to find the cache.
Cache needs major overhaul.
Signs of slight water damage, Torn ziplock bag, pretty dodgy looking contents and a non working pen.
Forgot to bring own Pen so couldn't finish signing the log on site (only got time and date down).
Took: broken pen (no point leaving it there).
Left: LED keyring torch.
I will revisit this cache in a few days to replace the pen and the ziplock bag.

Found at 3.05pm GAFF1. Great views from the lookout to get the clues. There were a few gentlemen in their cars looking on which made us glad that the cache was not in this vicinity. Got to GZ and found that we could just about make this into a drive-by. Thanks Mix for taking us around to see some of the local sights. Took: Scissors, Left: Kaleidascope.
Our first ever attempt at a cache. Even though it was pouring down we found it without too much trouble and had a lot of fun.
Signed log and left contents intact.

This was our 4th cache of the day,
Sign log, which is in great need of a new plastic bag.
Took whoppee cushion. and left scissors.
Thank for the cache

No find for this one. Made it to the park and was 99% sure of having the right location with no luck. Plenty of muggles kept appearing with their dogs so it was hard to do a thorough search. It looks like the council has been doing a lot of scrub clearing with piles of trees around the base of the cliff, so hopely they haven't disturbed its hiding place.
Our first multi. Drive past this lookout alot and never knew it was even there. Thanks Mix
Took Newby Thegoc on his first afternoon geocaching. This was the second of three. Cache is slightly soggy, and needs a new ziplock bag... next searcher please take one?
Interesting lookout, and loved your fissure!

This is my second GeoCache find today and was a good lesson in multi caching with the help of High Places.

A nice pleasant walk to find this cache.
Took two marbles and left a polished gemstone.

It's still there. Whether Mix meant it or not, the waypoints for this cache BOTH were used extensively for practical work whilst doing surveying at Newcastle Tech. The view from WP1 is outstanding. Todays there was some sort of dog obedience thing going on. One big ugly thing broke ranks and went for a very full garbage bin. Very funny watching a prim lady trying to get the dog out of the bin and then suffer the further humiliation of fixing up the mess.
Found the first part without trouble but could not find the second part - think we may have calculated the co-ordinates incorrectly. Might try again tomorrow.
Did the first leg on Wednesday and went for the second leg the next day however, after a quick scout around I legged it back to the car. I will have to save this one up for my next visit to Newcastle at Christmas.
Found it! Did the first leg on Sunday but ran out of time to do the second leg, so put the co-ordinates in the etrex and made a run this morning on the way to work.
Cache was chock full. Left a couple of dice, took a plastic dinosaur that now has pride of place on the monitor at work.
Thanks Mix.
I was noticed by someone while searching for the cache, but she was young, and we chatted for a while, so tough.
Hi All,
Found this one on third visit, mostly because doppy here didnt read the instructions properly, liked the little trip to the first point to get the distances.
Well thought out lots of fun.

Despite still not being able to walk after running training (got roped into joining my workplace's City 2 Surf corporate team, argh!), I decided to grin and bear the pain, and take two of the usual crew geocaching once more.
This one's the first for the day. Pretty easy find... And a very nice view. Thanks!

And now I'm happy.
My third attempt, and finally, success! I picked a freezing and windy day for it, but this search went off without a hitch.
After deciding to employ the miracles of modern technology (ie: computer mapping) I solved the first stage of the clue. Then we set off to check if my calculations and interpretations were correct, or if another trip to the metal circle thingy was in order.
Searched all the likely spots and some not so likely, and then the cache appeared. The whole time I felt like I was being watched. I've never cached somewher so open, and so secluded at the same time. Wierd.
For some reason, Mrs Rat decided to spend her caching time in the car with Baby Rat, but she did give me a warning on the UHF when some foolhardy souls turned up to let their dog go for a run (Damn it, didn't they know it was too bloody cold to be outside!).
After a quick rummage through the loot, I swapped a glo in the dark roo for a whoopee cushion, and secreted the cache away for the next adventurous soul.
Thanks for the fun Mix.[^]

"Cache is at:
32 54.(the distance to Nelsons Bay)(half the distance to Shepherds Hill)
151 42.(the distance to Newcastle)(the distance to Barrington Tops+ the distance to Speers Point)"
Damn! I knew I should have taken a better photo of that metal circle thingy! Looks like another trip to the hill.

I have moved the cache to a whole new location so don’t go looking under, near, around, or by those trees. This is the original location I had in mind when I first put the cache out but some amorous teen muggles were in the way. I think this is a better spot muggle wise and will hopefully last. Co-ords were averaged 3 times over 20 min. I also took a photo of the exact spot the cache is and will put it up as soon as I find the USB cable for my camera .
The cache was found, Empty! Man I hate that! I will be moving the final location to a more muggle free location next weekend.
Aaaaarrrggghhh!
Went to the hill. Found the numbers and plugged them in. Went to the park armed with a new set of co-ords. Stood out in the open about 4 metres from anything resembling a tree. Grumbled and bitched about moving so far from GZ to look under 'trees' that barely deserved the name, and would be pushing it to hide a micro. Decided that discretion is the better part of valour, and patience is the better part of caching. Will sit at home fuming until a photo of the right damned tree appears on the page, then go looking again.

With some edited mathematics this cache is now right (I hope), the plaque that has been vandalized is not the one you need to use look carefully at the lookout guide.
I will get to it this weekend and have a look I think its still o.k. myself but will make sure.
The memorial to the park's namesake (and presumably the vital last clue) had been completely vandalized.
The clues checked out.
The maths was right.
So where's the bloody cache?
Hmmmmmmm...
