Logs
Cache has been removed by unknown persons. I’ve decided not to replace it as we plan to move interstate early in the new year.
The cache for this site has been taken by persons unknown. I’ve decide not to replace the cache as I’m contemplating moving house sometime 2019 (NSW to Vic).
This cache was a bit off the beaten track but was not a difficult find. In fact the GPS went straight to it and the log was then signed before the contents were replaced in the container. Thank you mocca for bring us to what seems like a seldom visited picnic area and for placing a cache there to make it more attractive.
Finally found! Actually an easy find but I made it hard lol! Beware of spiders! TFTC
Found by Daniel (Supertiger61) and Ray (Nomads) whilst visiting Baradine. TNLN. TFTC
For Net88’s birthday this year, she, Captain Terror, and I went on a road trip of awesomeness, taking us out west from Brisbane.
A total of six days, our whirlwind adventure took us West through Dalby, Miles, Tara and Surat, and then South through Lightning Ridge (the farthest West I’d been!). Then we’d continue South through Walgett, Pilliga, Baradine, and Coonabarabran to Tamworth. Then it was through Uralla to Armidale, and Maclean to Yamba, and finally back to Brisbane.
We saw kangaroos, emus, baby emus, kookaburras, giant guitars, so many sunsets, and so many snacks, thanks to the help of Snackman.
A nice holiday from work, it was also a great excuse to pick up geocaches along the way.

Each year I like to get out of Brisbane for a week or so around my birthday in September. This year I decided to plan a road trip which would take myself, Captain Terror and catscatcat22 on a 2700km loop of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales. We were gone from the 18-24 September and visited Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Uralla, Armidale, Maclean, Yamba then came home following the coast road.
This was the 31st cache for me for the trip and the last one for the day. We left Lightning Ridge this morning and had quite a relaxed drive to this cache. This cache was an easy addition to our strict list of geocaches to visit because of it's age, location and name. Captain Terror loves finding the older caches, it wasn't a huge detour from where we were going, though it was still a detour and we love looking at the Jewel Box through the Captain's telescope.
I had studied the map and knew which way we should go however the Captain's GPSr was saying a completely different way. No, just follow my directions and we will cut an hour off that ETA. We arrived well before the Oregon predicted and the cache was found quite easily. We went for a lovely drive through the area trying to find some wildlife for the foreign cat in the car but we didn't see much at all. Thanks for bringing us to this area and for the cache mocca.

From 18 to 24 September, Net88, catscatscats22 and I embarked on a road trip to see some different parts of Australia. We drove from home in Brisbane to Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Armidale, Yamba and home again, a drive of over 2700 kilometres, a few nights camping and 122 geocache visits to guide us along the way.
This geocache was highlighted on our run list for the trip due to being so old. 2004 hides are certainly few and far between. We had driven from Coonabmle to baradine and needed to drive to Sculptures in the Scrub for our overnight stop, but this detour beckoned. And it turned out to be very worthwhile!
We headed south and while my GPSr wanted us to take the scenic route, Net found us a far better route. Thankfully it was a quick turnoff from the highway and into the bush. From here the roads were well marked both in signs and on our various maps. The trip had been light for kangaroos, so we drove along very slowly, hoping to see some. And we did - briefly.
Up towards the geocache location we drove and the beauty continued. The bush around Baradine sure is worth seeing! Then, right near GZ there was a fantastic little picnic area. Another car was here, but we didn't let them slow us up. We parked up and the game was on to find a box of jewels. No drama finding it and all in good condition.
Back in the car, more slow driving and a different route out. This time we saw a rabbit which Net liked and we had to cross two gates to get back on the road. We passed here by wheat fields and runaway wheat seeds meant the road was like a crop itself. A magnificent drive and a wonderful geocache.
I actually have two telescopes, my bigger refractor is perfect for seeing the Jewel Box. I always show friends this cluster as one of my favourites. My telescope shows it as either traffic lights in dark skies as you can see the colours or as a christmas tree. Looking through the Twinstar Observatory in Ballandean, QLD it certainly looks like the detailed cluster it is.
And I think the geocache plus drive in was just as attractive. Thanks for this geocache mocca

Visiting coonabarabran for a week. Thought we'd go out to coonamble. So did this cache on the way. Tflc. Pretty spot in the middle of nowhere. Lol
As you said this was dead easy , once I got to the right area. With my skill,at making easy things difficult, I took many a narrow forest track, which entailed stopping to move branches, and luckily being able to drive around those too big to shift. As always, a much easier track to the exit. Enjoyed the drive throught the park TFTC mocca
Another hot day during our camping trip saw us passing Coonabarabran on our way up to Warrumbungle Natio nal Park, with a side track up to the Siding Spring Observatory.
This one was a quick detour and stop on our way.

travelling between the Warumbungles and The Pilliga today and this was along the way or at least only a tad out of the way. nice little spot for a break, bought some African cucumbers from a farm in the nearby little town for a whole 20c each.
should have kept going along the dirt to Barradine but didn't think of it till I hit the tar again. Ah well.
still lots of bling available in the cache, left a few more.

In Coona for a few days to visit our son who works up on the hill (Siding Springs).
Our last day for caching so we had this on our list then a final find, Sandy Track, at Barradine.
Although the coords were just a little off it wasn't a difficult find. Just have to remove all those bloody prickles. Enjoyed the drive to GZ and would have loved to have had the time (and the makings) for a BBQ.
Thanks Mocca.

Great spot for a cache. This one has very infrequent visits it seems. Thanks mocca.

A quiet and pleasant little picnic area off the beaten track. Located the interestingly hidden cache without any problems. Nice little collection of costume jewellery. No swaps today. Thanks mocca
Zipped into the park and grabbed this one on the way through. The old GPS wasn't too confident about finding GZ in the trees though but after going back to the wheels for a clue I soon had the cache bagged. No room for any swaps as this little jewel box is overflowing. Thanks.
Nice easy find. Container is getting very full, some difficulty putting everything back in. Had no jewels to swap. TNLNSL.
Found at 11:40AM by Greg and Bev and Ray and Maya on the 14th of Oct on our way north to Yarrie Lake for a short stay. This was an easy find, rather exposed. We hid it a bit better when we replaced it. Maya and Bev had a wonderful time looking through the contents of the cache. I sat and typed this into the iPAQ through a fog of flies. TNLN. Thanks from The Nomads
2nd for the day , left a container to keep matches dry & took a pearl necklass .thanks mad bulldog.
3rd find for today. No stars here though, maybe at night!!
Found straight away. GPS pointed in the direction and we tagged the hide from about 20m away.
Took phone toy, left hair jewels.
Thanx for another one mocca

Thanks Mocca.
We went for a round trip drive to Baradine and tracked down this cache on the way. Nice selection and position.
My wife bolted with a pair of earrings and we placed a canadian mounted police tile in its place, as wellas a couple of other things. Would like to catch up with you one day to swap yarns.

We were in the area so we thought we would take the time to do this cache. Nice spot for a break
Took nothing but left a dangly thing that could be an earring

Nah - I know what your thinking, " Mabey He left a Nad behind." Well it looks like one but he didn't. Geo-Nads and I called into a couple of Mocca caches on the way from the Winter out West Event cache in the Warrumbungles.
Even though achieving these caches was an hour round trip in the wrong direction they were both beaut spots. I loved the towns we went through and had a good look at the country side returning via Coona and Galar.
Thanks Mocca for the spot. Hope to catch up sometime.
