Went and collected this cache today.
The cache was in good condition but decided to archive it anyway.

Good cache. Like the placement. Having a lazy day geocahcing prior to the one day Coast to Coast tomorrow.
Got the rental car a little way along the track then gave up and walked. After an initial 'oh no' moment at the cache site, found the cleverly made camo. The log is monstered though and needs replacing. TFTC
I cruised up and down golf link rd but couldn't find a vehicular access that didn't look like a private eggress. Lots of building going on round here unfortunately, it's a shame so much of the coast has this random building going on.
What a ride thought we were four wheel driving for minute but it was worth it Good find we will be coming back to catch fish Thank you
Easy find for my caching partner.
Book is soaking, staples have rusted so bad they have let go and turned to reddish stains on the pages.

Well, with the correct co-ordinates this time it was a quick find!!! No more wild goose chasing.
A definate need for a new logbook and some maintenance on the camo job. TNLN TFTC

Found very easily as it was sticking out at an odd angle that you couldn't fail to miss. May need looking at. Put log in a plastic bag with some gel which may give it more protection. TFTC
3 years later I found it. ) It was so damp it was stuck in its container so we left well alone. Nice evening for a stroll along the beach at sunset!
Had a good jog in, took a handful of minutes to find the cache. Quite obvious when you see it. Log was a little damp. Cheers Gav [1892]
Nice bit of track along the beach, took my little 4x4 right to the cache site took a wee while to spot as I was looking on the wrong side, but easy once spotted, a little damp in the log though
This one took us on several wild goose chases, and we never found it in the end. Maybe another time.
Found it after a long walk from where we had to park our 2WD car. Needs to be inside better container, almost couldn't get book out to fill it in. Good walk for a couple of fatties like us.
Tried several dirt roads with my large campervan and at last got stuck after the gate on the road alongside the beach in a dunelike part(sand blown over the dirtroad. Took me >1 hr to dig me out by hand!! Than ran out of time. Next time better.

Had a really nice walk from the gate, as the track looked to rough to take our car down.need a little more ground clearance in the subaru legacy. Cache needs maintenance. Book is damp and had a job to get it out + pencil is broken.
Great cache! Saturday morning bike ride, (tricky on road tyres!). Found eventually after a mistake with the coordinates. Notebook is wet we were unable to get it out of the container to log our find:( Pencil led is broken as well!
Got the 2WD Previa up to the cache OK. Rather difficult to extract the log, looks like nofs had the same problem too. Cache could possibly use another coat of paint at some stage.

Conditions must have been OK because we the old Subaru Legacy right to the cache. Nofs junior took some "bumpy" video during the ride back out - not sure how impressed Mrs Nofs will be. Good fun though, thanks.
FISRT EVER FIND. Was board on a wet day so I thought id see what its all about, never realised there were so many within a couple of ks from home, espically when ive been there countless times. Log book was a little damp, but was a quick easy find.
Very clever cache
We too looked at the tidemark and thought the cache must have been washed away.
Needed to fire up the laptop to get the clue and then found it within seconds.
Bag was a bit tattered so we replaced it.

The sea is cutting toward the road leading to the cache. Driftwood is scattered about. Thought we were too late till the obvious nearly hit the eye!
A great workout for my rental car. I made it all the way and found it quickly. Thanks for the tour of the other side of the river.
Once we got on track we were heading in the right direction. Stopped by no access on track because of cows. Decided to leave them and the cache undisturbed and approach from the sea another day!
Thats a tricky way to hide it, thanks for leading us to a new spot, it is somewhat out of the way.
Very clever Mr Moneydork. We really enjoyed this one. Some of the West Coast roads are hardcase aren't they?
No swaps.
Thanks

Driven by the cache owner at break neck speeds over rough terain threw mud and water in his wifes 4wd .lol I'm not cleaning it
I have decided not to archive this cache now.
I have moved it slightly, so that it shouldn't get flooded as often.

This cache will be archived at the end of February 2005, due to repeated flooding. The container will be re-located to a new location as a new cache.
Wow. Just returned home from a trip to Team Moneydork cacheland and see that this cache is soon to be archived so I had better log it real quick, as I had quite a time finding it and I don't want to waste the experience.
During the previous couple of days I had visited most of the caches south of Hokitika and this was the only "local" one left unfound south of the town bridge. But then I discovered that there was Bitsprayer's Hoki Tales multi. After entering all the multi's waypoints into the gps it became obvious that one of the waypoints was not too far from this cache so I planned my trip according. First the multi's waypoint then Waters Edge. After gathering the required data from the multi's waypoint off I set following a very selective portion of Waters Edge's cache details - "Turn off the SH6 and follow your gps". Well I did just that. Just as well I was in my trusty 4WD for the track that I followed got wetter and wetter and finally petered out at the back of a swamp in a very large gorse patch. "Mmmm, maybe this is not the track to the cache", I mused. A 5 point turn and I retraced my route back to the road. "Maybe it was that track I saw by the old airport", so off I go to investigate that and end up at a cow shed. "Oh well, maybe I should read ALL the instructions now!" The words "seaward side" then loom into view and the penny drops that I haven't crossed any bridge yet in order to get to the seaward side! After that the cache would have been an easy find except for one factor that I hadn't taken into account - IT WAS HIGH TIDE!! Reading the logs revealed that feet could get wet! Uh, oh! Looking amongst the nearby hint objects at GZ there appeared an unusual object but it was about 3 metres out to sea. So off came my brand new boots and out I waded and soon had a very soggy logbook extracted from said object. It was too wet to write in so I decided to return it to it's owner for replacement, as it seemed that the next of my multi's waypoints would be very close to his house. This I did. Members of Team Moneydork gave me permission to log. Thanks Team.

Good one!! Thought the GPS was playing tricks on us, until we looked more carefully! Welll done, Moneydork.

MUCH easier without the water!
Woops - it wasn't the reeds that were poking out of the water- it was the toitoi up behind them. The cache itself would have been 1.5m below the surface. No wonder I couldn't find it!

Well that was an interesting excursion...
The drive in was interesting, but not a problem for the 4WD.
It wasn't until we got to about 200m from GZ that it got really interesting. The creek was in flood, and had decided to take over a bit of the road. Gary had a bit of a wade, and when it got to mid-thigh deep, decided that (a) wading any further would get very unpleasant, and (b) It would be deep enough to get through the doors of the car. Then he had an inspiration- the as-yet unused, home-built kayak that was sitting on the roof-rack. What better use for a maiden voyage, than a bit of geocaching? So off it came, and Gary and Oli got in, and paddled off into deeper water. We eventually got to GZ, and went a little past it, at which point we realised that we had in fact crossed over the creek to the other side. While turning around, we realised that we had another passenger as well - the dog had hitch-hiked on the back! So we went back, dropped off 2 boys, and Gary went back. Based on a previous log, and a previous Event cache, we had a fair idea of what to look for. However, since the tops of the reeds were only just peeking over the surface of the water, it wasn't too easy to hunt. We will return...

What idiot would take a 2wd car along here?.... oh, I see BearLeft's already done it . Very cunning, BearLeft's log was very helpful.
The track in was a little wet and muddy, but well within the capabilities of a 2WD Taurus. We approached GZ and spotted it immediately. Given the timing of this placement, we take this as the sincerest form of flattery!
Papa Bear's feet stayed drier than Mama Bear's, but the logbook was wetter than both of us! We removed it and returned it to Moneydork for drying out (which is why our name's not in it; but we have a witness that we were there!)
With some better waterproofing, this will remain a cunning little cache.

Brilliant. Took a while to find even though it was staring us in the face! The creek was a little bit high so dry ground to stand on was slightly limited, but no great problem.
What a wonderful idea. My GPS took me right to the spot, which confused me to start with. Congrats on another great cache Cheers Iona
Very well done, drove all the way in, GPS took me close to the water, noticed the high tide mark and the GPS was pointing in that area, I throught OH no tide might have got it, then i saw the cache... ..
Many thanks moneydork Bitsprayer
