Well, how about that - turns out that this cache has been here all of this time - while DNFing a cache that is supposed to be there now, we found this one. As it is archived, we removed the container as CITO which we have brought home - the sistema container is in amazingly good condition for a cache so old and the logbook wasn't even that damp.
We have this - if the CO would like any of it back for curiousity sake, please let us know - quite nice to see the original logbook and the little stories that cachers used to write in logs. Otherwise we might give it a lick of paint and reuse it in honour of this old cache! Thanks for the cache!

Drove up here specially for the cache and did not find it. I see now that the cache has obviously been missing for some time. Please disable so more caters do not waste their time looking for it. Nice spot though. Thanks, CBE
Searched area around palm and like other cachers i was unable to locate this one. Time for archive ?
Took a slight detour to find this cache and check out the view. However, while the views were fantastic it is pretty clear this cache is gone. GPSr lined up with the hint item. Nothing to find after several long minutes of searching. Cache should be disabled as there isn't a cache to find atm.
Please check on this before even more visitors arrive, as the views from the top could be very nice - not this morning tho. Had what I would consider a 'good look' for D1 cache at 0 m GZ, and out to 8m for any likely looking type of the Hint. No luck. As previous finder couldn't find it the cache may need to be replaced.
I often check on this one while in the area, but couldnt find it in the usual location today... Has it gone?
Truly outstanding view from the top, views of Auckland City, through to the Waitakere Dam. Lots of Muggles so watch out!
Found this while on a wee tramp in the area ! Good one ! Nice and easy thanks ! Was able to show to some fellow trampers who didn't know about GCing !
Quick find, no need for GPS. On Loop from Cascades to Dam and Back.
Not too much mud today. TFTC.

Final cache for the day with mike-miss. I'd never been here before and the 360° view was amazing! Could see both the Tasman and the Pacific from here.
Found the cache after a brief search and it seemed rather exposed so covered it up and hid it a bit better after logging.
Couldn't leave here without a star jump, and managed to get a keeper after a dozen or so "calibration" shots
Thanks!

A quick find and a final cache for the morning's efforts. Found with slieschke and a memorable one to bring up my 1800th find. A few photos of the scenery and 360º views were had before parting ways. TFTC!
Visiting relatives in the area and introducing them to Geocaching. Great spot for a cache TNLNSL dipped trackable replaced where found T4TC
Driving back from an Easter BBQ at Karekare, picked this up. Stopped for a photo too of course!

AWESOME view!! Found this one pretty quickly (though did have a scramble in the wrong area first!) TFTC.
A lovely quick and straightforward cache. Spent most of my time admiring the views. I just wish I'd packed my camera today. Oh well. TFTC
Awesome!! Coming up here certainly brought back a few memories of my younger days as a wayward teen Westie!! Although the day was a bit cloudy and drizzly, the views were still awesome. Wow, wonder when they changed the road?? I'm pretty sure that "bridge to nowhere" used to be the road back down from the top?? Anyway, parked car and wandered over to GZ. Found the cache after a short search. Thanks for keeping this historic cache active and TFTC, Biggles.
While stopping on the road at the foot of the hill to enjoy a nice view, I saw this cache on my GPS and it led me to even nicer views!
TFTC and some nice photos from up there!

My first find in Auckland with my grandchildren and what an exciting find for them. It took a bit of hunting but soon in hand. TFTC
Visited this cache for the third time, this time to drop off my very first owed trackable. It wants to get to Trentham and visit as many tracks and trails on the way.
Stretching my legs after a lazy day. A good walk up the hill with some amazing views. TFTC
had to return to re log this one, found previously under old user name... thought there was a reason it wasn't showing up on total lol... at least didnt need the gps to find it
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
After picking up a few new caches in Huia and Whatipu we drove home along Scenic Drive and picked up a few caches along the way. Have never been up here before – stunning views! Walked around in circles a wee bit at GZ, but soon located the good sized cache. Thanks for the cache!

Once having found the palm, cache was a quick find. Took a few minutes to find tree.
Fantastic views [or they would be on a good summers day] . Freezing cold here and must have been 120 kmh plus gales. BTW Gate closure is 7pm, opening no earlier than 6pm

One of my favourite lookouts in Auckland. Dropped something off, took TB. Thanks!
A fun little find on lovely day. Bit of a squeeze with the 5 of us in the hiding spot but that just added to the fun! TFTC
Went to enjoy a nice picnic at the summit on a rare sunny day. Pity a flash crowd of day trampers turned up and swamped us. Found the cache easily enough and swaped a trackable for good measure. No sign of 'Wandering Weta' TB however.

What an awesome location. I’ve cycled past here a thousand times, but never noticed gates to this place. The visibility was incredible, with almost infinite views in all directions. Made me feel small. Not enough people visit here (six months since the last online log), and it’s an easy grab. But sites like this are what caching is about…bringing people to new, good places.
Cache was a bit exposed, so covered it up again on departure. TFTC!

Very easy find... once I had the right GZ! [B)]
My GPSr was being annoying... and I thought I was in the right place and spent a few minutes looking in the hinted location(s)...
Did a quick double check of positioning and realised I was on the wrong side of the road! haha...
Found the true GZ and spotted the cache instantly, as it was completely unhidden. I left it with some v. basic cover.

Dropped off "the wondering weta". Due to the shocking weather so far this summer(and a slight case of laziness) this was the only summit I could manage! Great view from the top, cheers...
We found this cache after giving the kids a lesson in what a palm looks like. Great find in a really neat spot which we never would have seen if not for GC. TFTC!
This is one of those "why hadnt I found it long ago" caches that Im catching up with. Thanks.
Gate closed so had to walk to GZ. No problem, glad for extra exercise. No views at the top and took a while to find the cache. Got there in the end. TFTC.
Great views! Glad we came this way after a days canyoning nearby at cascade kauri. Tftc
Couldn't find this one. Did unearth 16 old beer bottles though, so although we didn't "Cache In", we did "Trash Out" to our recycling bin. Will have to try this one again when the weather is better.
found it only after we switched over to UTM - that lat and log showed it 180m over the bank? is there something wrong with my settings?
Found together with KiwiLeon and Little Redhood.
A few muggles around but a good place to evade view. T4TC

Glorious day to visit this place. What a view! Took scent sachets, Left a dolphin charm. Cache is a little damp, and writing in a damp log is difficult! TFTC
Nice place for a cache, great views, easy parking and nice to stretch the legs. TFTC
Cache was a bit wet. Drained as much water as I could and tried to seal everything up. Great Cache.
This really is a very nice and quiet place for a short rest, beautiful view. The cache was easily found

Amazing views today - well worth the drive up. Hazy but could still see the Auckland landmarks. Cache found by one of the DIMwits. There was a photo taken but NZ Skyliner is the only one of us who looked half way decent!! TFTC.
Beautiful day to enjoy the view. Took blue puff ball, left basketball eraser.

Great to be in NZ and caching with budokan again. Certainly a highlight of all trips to NZ.
First cache of the day and whilst hanjac and budokan were trying to get points for first find together in a while my geodaughter goes here it is. She drags it out and passes the log to us to sign. Photos taken from a top spot, thank you for showing us this place.
SL TFTC TNLN Hanjac from aussie

been a while since hanjac and I have been caching together. Was stoked we started with a great view. We both like those types of hides. TFTC
Quick easy drive by. Picked this one up on the way to another cache in the area. TFTC
Out with Gadget-tron for a walk in the Waitakeres.
Nice views from the top.
Quick find.

Making the best of a Sunday call out on the scenic drive. Nice clear day with great 360 degree views. Brought back many pleasant memories of my younger days as a Westie. Thanks for bringing me back to this briliant spot. TFTC.
Very nice site
Must have just missed Stu4 today like Stu4 I too had some good memories of this spot, as kids we used to push bike from Henderson to here all the time.
Used to go to the haunted house and stay there at nights which had been just down the road from here.
Those where the days!

#465 A Sunday drive to do a few caches along Scenic Drive. Gates open. Unfortunately a bit of a misty bleak day, so difficult to see the view. Found the cache, swapped TB's. SL. TFTC.
went there but the gates on both sides were closed. hmm what to do, well easy enough park down there and walk up the remaining distance, nice views over Auckland from up there. I left a couple of Tbs here that came via Australia from the USA. Show them around a bit.
cheers!
cheers!
Beautiful spot...visited for the first time. Quick find with DIONZ and MARJARAM...awesome views so bring a camera.
Hmmm... Couldn't find anything but rubbers and beer bottles. Too bad for me!
Happy new year! Fantastic views. Din't know this existed, so thanks for bringing us here. - TB Mt St Helens. TFTC
awesome view. tftc. removed a pie wrapper with included crumbs (?!) dropped off ring of fire.
Found easily. (this time I had a GPS) When we were last looking for this cache we were on the other side of the 'Bridge to Nowhere'. This cache sets a record for plastic zip-lock bags. TFTC
Imagine this would be a great spot with a camera on a nice day but that was not today due to the heavy rain. Quick find and back to the car T4TC.
I Found the Cache at a sunny Day.
