This one remained elusive only because a storm came over and hampered the satellite signal to the GPS. I reckon that the hint would pinpoint the location, but as thunder clapped above and big drops of rain began to fall, I called 'no joy.' Thanks though for taking us to such a great place.
Well a DNF, but hey it was due to poor satellite reception, and hey some folks don't get up to these areas very often - hence the inactivity on caches such as this one. But a very enjoyable stay anyway, please keep this cache alive! Thanks for the challenge.
National Parks has not replied to my emails with regards to caching so I am going to enable all caches in Coolah Tops until such time as they say caching is not permitted.

Found this one whilst spending a few days in the tops! An amazing stand of trees, took a few photos that give you an idea of their size.
Thanks Bronze & Mix76 for the cache.

I have just heard in Geotalk Podcast #27 that caches are banned in National Parks in NSW. This is currently under discussion with National Parks so I am going to temporary disable this cache until a decision has been reached.
The cache will remain in place until my next visit.

Found this one with Bluedog, well it was his youngest pup that did us first. Good cache bronze. Trees are fantastic.
Found today in the company of the Bronze himself, Jaycazz and family and the full Bluedog Team. Were in the area for "Jazz in the Tops". Didn't get as many caches done as we would have liked. Too much on. Rought start on this as we cant read or do maths. Eventually it was a race between Jaycazz and the junior Bluedogs. Bluedog came out on top. I have never seen eight people log a cache before. Bronze added a few fresh swaps and I fixed up his log book. Ta Bronze. TB. P.S. stacks of swaps - stacks pf kids.
A gentle stroll but without a stroller but with a nana. Second co-ords seemed to be out a bit I could only get 8 metre accuracy but had a search and came up with the goods. Thanks a lot.
All the time spent on the road the sun was out with clear blue skies and as we arrive at the parking area the cloud also arrived. After a short walk we reach the forest and shout “Babae, Bene!†The grey skies did little to subdue the sight of these giants in all their twisted forms. Very nice area.
Found with Postman Pat, Grank, Bronze, Pesky, Mix, Bear and my new friends, Sam Spam and GOTG.
Swapped 50 cent for a whiteboard marker.
GOTG and I found this cache after Grank and Pesky. Again Pats GPSr failed him. I made up a funny joke about Postman Pats GPS being wrong.
I really liked how but the grass trees were. An interesting location and cache to find.
Wallark.

Cache maintained during Post Man Pats "Schools In" weekend Event cache. Attended by Tuena, Pesky, Mix, Grank, Pat and all our kids.
Cache is in good condition with the Grass trees in good condition. It's very dry up here at the moment but the conditions don't seem to be bothering the Grass trees as they are currently flowering.
Cache contents are good however the kids gave then a good change around this weekend.

This was the second last Cache of the weekend but the last for the event Hosted by me in company with the kids from the event Which where all out in front looking at these strange trees I was sorry to think that after this cache we would all be going our separate ways but happy to be friends with such a good group of people.
This was the second last Cache of the weekend but the last for the event Hosted by Dad in company with the other kids from the event we where all out in front looking at these strange trees?

Found this one on the Friday before the Schools In at Coolah Tops weekend. I had walked through this forest last year thinking the trees were interesting but in fact there was something much more interesting lying in wait. The GPSr pointed me to 5 different GZs but in the end I got there. Left a little piggy.
Came to the tops for the festival and to find a few caches along the way. The walk into the Xanthorrhoea australis area is really great.
Took small car and left a wombat.
Thanks.

these are great examples of unique botany left a cow and took hummer car. we are here for the jazz fwstival thanks
Jock stayed behind to change the flat tyre (I love a volunteer!) while Kim and I headed for the cache. He arrived just in time for the cache discovery. Great grass trees (blackboys, kangaroo tails, yaccas, etc, etc). Thanks Bronze & Mix76.
What an impressive area, the grass tree specimens really are superb. Wandered around and had a good look then decided to progress with the cache. Did the changes required and went for a look. And we looked and looked, had the pocket pc with us so resorted to reading previous logs. President and lst lady said something about it being under their nose and looking all around it. Went back again and looked at the obvious, then noticed something lying innocently just waiting to be turned over and discovered by a geocacher. Took nuts travel bug and ball and left whistle. Thanks Mix and Bronze.
The curse of:
1) No mobile coverage for WAP geocaching.com lookups, and
2) No PDA containing all cache info.
We finished the Nav Shield competition (www.bwrs.org.au) held just up the end of this road and all around the cache.
On firing up the GPS I noticed a cache only 700m away! Too good to be true, so we wandered in to the grass trees.
Unfortunately we had no idea that this was a multi, so we thought that WP1 was GZ... hence no luck.
A new and pretty national park - well worth the trip. But being 6 hrs' drive from home, it may be a while before I get a 2nd crack at this cache...

A most impressive cache. I was in the area for the Nav Shield '05 rogaine. I thought this location would have set the scene for the rest of the weekend. We walked widely on the plateau all around this area, however this was our only sighting of these marvellous trees.
Here are some other photos from the Nav Shield. http://www.uow.edu.au/~sah/photos/OutdoorFun/2005-08-NavShield05/index.html

Up here with my mate Dingbat for 'Navshield 05'. First time we'd been out of the car in a few hours was here.... Brrrrr it was bloody freezing and worse was to come. Like Dingbat said we probably walked some 40km around this area and here is the only spot where you'll find these impressive trees. Much like black boys, but not. TN just left a TB
Thanks Guys for showing us this top spot. This what caching is all about.
Sorry EvilDan, I knew of a few cachers who were at Nav, but not you. Wish we could have helped.

found wp 1 ok talked to np ranger to long not enough time to find wp 2 we will be back top spot
Gotcha this time!!! Believe it or not, it was right under our noses last time, we looked all around it. We also found the track in this time rather than wandering through the scrub aimlessly in the general direction.
We had a Fury Presidential Escort (kangaroo) for a little while.
Took green car - left bookmark and Holden sticker.
Great spot!! Thanx

Unfortunately we came up empty-handed. However the remarkable beauty of the area made the day extremely worthwhile. If it wasn't for geocaching we would be oblivious to this natural treasure. Thanks Bronze for a wonderful few hours in the bush.
Wow what a spot - Thats the great thing about caching - It draws you to places that you would never otherwise know about. We travelled 600 Km to explore this park and pick up a couple of caches along the way. As we wandered through this "forest" in absolute amazement we agreed it was worth it.Thanks for sharing this place with us its amazing. Oh yea almost forgot - the cache - took nothing left nothing. A note to others - the only way into the park is from Coolah. The track in from the Merriwa Road is closed. Once again THANKS
What a serene place. These guys have been growing undisturbed (well almost) for hundreds of years.
Thanks Bronze & Mix for recommending we visit this place.

Found it just on dark. Nice little walk in, probably would have appreciated it more if we hadn't been studying all day

After a long day studying, we attempted this one just as the sun was setting.
Accompanied by other Uneven Distribution members (BeccaJ and Evil_Hitman), GeoNads and the mini Bronzes.
Found it.
It was nice to read a bit more about these trees. I used to love trying to spot them in the bush near my parents place (on the edge of the Otways in Victoria.)
Thanks Bronze

This is our third attempt at a multi cache and the first to be successful. The day was perfect though we got to the grass trees quite late, we planned to do 2-3 cache in the hills but unfortunately due to wrong turns, flat batteries in GPS.
I think we deserve another award for witnessing the strangest site (remember we are aliens).A coach load of people(yes a bus, 47 seater) turned up and did the grass tree walk....Formally attired most drinking red wine out of crystal glasses(cab shiraz I think). Some wearing kilts !
I guess it was ANZAC day and things get a little stranger than most.
