Third easy find along here today. As the previous finder said, spotted from the track.
Getting back on Tr Araroa after Xmas and it was not long before I was hunting for another stash. Or two or three... as is the way.A local legend that I know from another city a decade or so back had got us back on track and walked as far as the swingbridge with us, he had round this one previously and as we walked and talked I spotted a suspicious looking spot and yeah he confirmed my intuition was spot on. Not sure why this one was wrapped in a torn up shopping bag as the cache was dry and serviceable without it, I packed out the trash for the rest of my walk and of course got my name smeared on the log, heck yeh!.My thanks go to badger-ferret for this hide, great to nab a smiley to mark my path southward, cheers.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
Heading home to Nelson today after an extended Canterbury caching weekend.
A pleasant walk and nothing but an instant find. I ended up completing a couple of circuits before I stumbled upon the hide.
Nice to collect such an old hide. TFTC

Found this cache while tramping with five friends up to Hope shelter. Spent three days here, the middle one taking an excursion to three mile hut. Weather was still ok here today. Managed to find while my remaining friends were tackling the swing bridge. Find # 792
#11,152. We were heading back to Nelson after a weekend in Christchurch. I had stopped here a couple of times previously but had not had the time to walk to this old cache from 2004. Today we headed along the track to the swingbridge. It was higher up than I expected. Need a good head for heights to cross that one. Headed back to GZ and soon spotted the hidey hole. Signed the logbook and rehid the cache where found. Thanks Badger-Ferret for the cache. Some stage I will introduce you to my caching buddy Infoferret.
Heading west from Hanmer Springs today we stopped at the carpark for a quick walk and then lunch. A bit of wind when we first arrived. Liked the suspension bridge.

I’m on my TA journey and caching has taken a bit of a back step…. But today as it was an easy ish track from Hope Kiwi lodge I decided to open the app and see if there were any nearby. Lucky I had saved to an offline list ages ago…
After crossing the bridge safely without tangling myself up with my poles I made the find before heading out to the road for a hopeful hitching into Hanmer.

After 5 days in the hills we mite get out to day but its going to be a wet one as it started yo rain last night and still falling now .
So a quick stop
On the way we stopped by and grabbed this one quickly as not to get eaten alive by the local residents.
Gad to riad walk to the alternative crossing as after rain last night the river was two high.
No time to sit we need to keep going to our bed for the night
Finally I am back on the main land , feels good to back in the south island.
Living life one foot steep at a time as i walk from cape reinga to bluff and caching my way home as I walk the
Te Araroa and discover the hidden treasures new Zealand has to offer.
From the beachs of the north to the forest and lakes and the odd bump of the south

So glad I decided to walk further to go get this cache so I could see the fantastic trail down to the river and the absolutely fantastic swing bridge! So much fun! Noone was around. It was an overcast day, but it was still beautiful. TFTC.
Took over 10 min for the GPS to settle and it ended up being close to the main track before the swimming hole turnoff and not the swimming hole track as originally thought.
Hint really not much use for us but the swimming hole is awesome.

Up fresh this morning and with some time in hand before I needed to leave Hamner to get to the St James trailhead, I had ample opportunity to take in some more caching.
This golden-oldie cache was my main reason for stopping in these parts.
Having chatted to a tired and sweaty hunter with two deer legs over his shoulders I got down to the search.
I spent a good 15 minutes getting intimate with lots of rocks but then scrolled back through previous logs and found some salvation in [@Sidewaze](http://coord.info/PR2DERX)'s coords. I plugged those into my GPS and hey presto, everything fell into place.
For the record, the coords I used were S42 35.118 E172 22.495

A quick find with Campmotherandken today after a pleasant wander along here today. Certainly windy!! TFTC
Nice walk in, what a great place for the kids to come to, Camper had parked up for the night as we parked up to walk in - TFTC
Out with coconuts3, lytteltonwitch and Busy paws on a fantastic trip up in this area, we had a ball, much laughter, fun and photos. Log signed as Hawkes Harem. TFTC.
Returning home from Reefton with Busypaws, coconut3 and geomum and signing as Hawkes Harem. Interesting geological features here. Took a few moments to find and we hadn’t noticed a tramper coming up the track when we yelled out our delight at finding the cache. Gave him a slight fright as he hadn’t seen us .
What a great area! Found on the way home from Reefton. Log signed as Hawkes Harem, this took a little while but there it was! TFTC
Really enjoyed the walk here and got distracted by the awesome views and nature here. Then started looking for the cache. I was so happy to eventually find this I yelled out in glee and startled a tramper. He laughed at our joy. Thanks for bringing us here to this awesome spot the cache Badger-Ferret. A fav from us.
Visiting the South Island as the grown up kids are on Uni holidays. Heading up to Nelson today collecting some caches on the way. Wonderful sunny day although cold and frosty to start with. This looks like the start of some great tramping although we only made it to the river and back. About 1km. Would love to return when it’s warmer and head up to a hut. Cache all fine. Thanks for bringing us here.
Took short cut up the hill quickly found. Then back down road. The education centre is well hidden from main road. Tftc
On a long drive to Kaikoura we needed another stop to strech our legs. So we decided to stop here and did a fine and lonely hike to visit the little river.
This cache was difficult to find, we had a good time searching all over the place. In the end it was found some meters off (and closer to the path than we thought it would be).
Afer finding the cache we explored the river access for some minutes - nice river!
Thank you for the cache!

Just as well we read the logs. Compass was out. Met the owner of the land and introduced the family to geocaching. Found on the way out from Hurunui hut. No wind here today.

Another oldie on the way back home - worth to make another leg-stretcher stop!
It was getting dark though so I was very thankful to find the correct coordinates in the previous find logs for the cache. It would have been very difficult otherwise in the late twilight hours.
So, passing them on: S42 35.118 E172 22.495. Also, no need to go off track, that's what we initially did.

I originally drove in off the road for one cache, decided to go for the second one then thought if I'm going to do that I should grab my day-pack and go for the third. I'm very pleased I did as there was awesome scenery and it was cool to spot the education centre here.
I struggled to find the cache but finally resorted to reading previous logs. Using abl973's coordinates I made an instant find (S42 35.118 E172 22.495). For anyone reading my log looking for help, the cache is before the sign and you don't need to go down the hill.
Thanks for the cache, a definite favourite, that's why I HAD to find it .

Together with my wife I was on the way to Hanmer Springs. Here and there I stopped for a photo. So it was on the highway just at this point.
While I was taking the photo my wife looked at the GPS and shouted "Hey there is a cache not far away from here and it seems that a road is leading to it". Without any discussion I drove the campervan to the parking lot and had a quick find on the cache there. The surrounding looked really nice so we analyzed the way and found this cache.
It was the best cache of this day and maybe the best cache for the whole last week. The cache itself was not easy but in the end we were succesful.
The bridge and the walk there was just stunning. I leave a favorite point and suggest that more people come here. Thanks!

This year, for Easter, we decided to be hard core. (As usual). We decided that we were going to do an almost 80KM, 5 day, 4 night, section of the Te Araroa... with our 18 month old daughter!
It was a tough, but so worth the effort 5 days. The weather mainly played nice, except for day 2!
This cache we found on day 5. The final day!!! We were pretty stoked to be on the home stretch now - and I was soooooo craving a pizza!
And far out I felt broken & knackered... And man was I shocked to see the terrain rating!! I thought to myself... I haven't even seen civilisation in 5 days, and I get a T2.5 cache?!!!!! Lol.
Luckily the cache was a quick find. Beautiful view over the very brown river. But we didn't stick around, as baby was sleeping, so decided to make the most of walking time.

I often don't pre-read cache descriptions, logs or checkout photos before I go looking for a cache. I mostly do this after I've found it so imagine my surprise when I got closer to GZ. Loved it here which was extra special as this was me randomly stopping to get a few caches nearby.
It was hosing down with rain and my GPS was insistent on one particular location on several approaches but I ended up finding the cache 9m north after standing back. It was raining a lot so maybe the coords were right but I'll throw mine here to see if others agree as I'm curious S 42 35.118 E 172 22.495 to know how my Garmin 750T performs - I've been really happy with this device since I accidently dropped my 650T into a filthy swamp and lost it forever.
I explored the other side of the river taking full advantage of the bridge so probably spent an hour here. This is what I like about caching. Thanks Badger-Ferret, have a favourite point.

Probably cache of the day which had it all. A pleasant walk, a nice nearby watercourse, an interesting swing bridge which both mrs capperz and I partly ventured onto, and an adventure to find the cache. We soon found ourselves in the rough vicinity of the cache, and I headed 'bush' in order to lower the 'metres to' aspect of the cache. I could do no better than 5 metres, and that didn't match the hint so headed back up to the path to have another angle. mrs capperz spotted a gecko on some rocks and we watched as it darted in and out of it's hole, sat atop a funny coloured background. Upon closer inspection the background extended both sides of the hole and looked like a New World carrier bag (it was).
Reaching in carefully the rock was removed to reveal the cache, along with accompanying gecko! All good and replaced as found. Cache was (and still is) visible from the path, no need for bush bashing 9apart from the excitement of doing it!)
This was nearly as far as we were going to come away from Hanmer after leaving Livi and her friend in the village to go horse trekking, etc. Pulled in the car park with three caches on the radar to be found.

Heading out for a few look-see caches away from Hanmer and a dirty (and dry) half dozen was a good haul. All found easily and replaced the same.
Our first full day in Hanmer for this weekends visit and a day of mixed weather. The forecast initially had been indicating rain all day, each day of the visit so alternative (indoors) things were planned. The reality though was somewhat different. The weather, upon waking., was an awesome cool and slightly misty start with a chill in the air and no breeze. The morning was sunny and awesome, the afternoon brought a few spots of rain and the later afternoon welcomed the rain in, and it never left! At the time of logging it has been raining really heavily for a few hours now! Yuck.

Found on a very hot day as we set off on our tramp. TFTC (And first cache for the new year)
Found with StreetWalker on our week long post Christmas trip to Reefton and the West Coast. Great to travel in some cooler temperatures after the heat of this past month. Not too busy on the roads either, thanks to the newly re-opened SH1 north of Kaikoura.
We have driven past this cache many times, but with 2 more caches in the area to lure us, we finally made the walk to this cache. An instant find, then we carried on to look at the swing bridge. SW had a walk on it, but I was very keen to stay on terra firma so I just admired the view from this end. Great spot, thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

#14964. Good idea to place a cache near the swingbridge; it's well worth a visit. TFTC.
What a nice spot and yes certainly needs a cache. Doggies were not so fond on the bridge...maybe next time take the bridge to the other side...would be a could place to hide a cache haha. We left a TB, which is unfortunately already been taken before we could log this cache
Oh so sneaky. Was about to give up, one more read of the logs sharpened my focus, and found it soon after. Side note - the river under the bridge is impressive, worth the walk on its own, thanks for bringing me here

No problem finding the cache or answering the question. This was a nice little leg stretch and dog walk while heading down to Christchurch. 17 February 2017 20:29 GH6710 T F T C Badger-Ferret
Had a short search. No luck but did meet a guy who used to stay at the school buildings when it was a dock hut.
A year ago when passing I had this on my to do list but not the time so today was the day. Nice little walk and peaceful once away from the traffic noise. The search took longer than expected especially as we didn't spot the feature in the hint. We were about to give up when I spotted something and there it was.
Heading to Nelson for a couple days to surprise Dad on his 70th B'day. Wee Dude feeling a bit off so we pulled in here, parked up, and walked in....bit of fresh air. Lovely spot. Quickly cornered the cache. Walking back we stopped beside the river and threw a few rocks. Nice!
Nice walk into a place I have never been.
Love caches on bushwalks.
This one took ages but weren't leaving without conquering.
Far out. We could have kicked ourselves.
Clever.

Staying at Amuri Area School Lodge for a week of day tramps. GPS first put us well over the bridge but finally found its bearings and directed us to the right place. Found with the help of my Geraldine Tramping Club friends.
Cache and old and recently new log very wet. Container dried, another new log put in new plastic bag, then cache placed in plastic bag before returned to hide.

P.S. I added more dry paper and removed the swaps which were rusty. I replaced the swaps with ones I had on me. Dried out the container too.

A long time between caches. They are getting slim on the road between Christchurch and Nelson.
Started raining, which the area certainly needs, so I got wet. Took ages to find, but I could see it from the track when I finally made the find.

11.15am. Spent at least 30 minutes leaving no rocks unturned (not a mean feat!!) and were just giving up - consoling ourselves that it had been a nice walk anyway - when, from the track, MrsJF spotted the quarry - and of course it was very obvious when you knew where it was!! This cache was first bypassed on trips because time or weather didn't suit. Then, when we did the walk a few years ago, lack of full information with us meant we looked in all the wrong places. After the recent storm we had a sunny walk to the same area again - and a quick find once the 2 muggles went past. This time Mrs Sobad stood at the feature and looked. If we had done that last time we would have found it - but missed a nice stroll in the sun today.
Thanks.

Enjoyed the walk out to this cache. A group of trampers passed by just as we were examining the sign before the dash to the cache. Found it then moved on to the bridge. What a view! Thanks from this Canadian!
Came here in November 2011 and hunted for ages for this cache without any luck. Decided to give it another go today and with the benefit of more experience I spotted it within a few minutes. Signed log, TFTC and it's good to get this one onto the "found" list.
Found with Planetace on the way home from a 4wd weekend. Spotted a couple trout from the bridge!
Found with MofNJojo. We saw one rabbit hoping around. A good walk to the cache TFTC
How frustrating, we searched every rock in the area before looking through past logs and seeing the co-ordinates that had worked for others then we soon found it. Our GPS had put us about 10meters away from where it actually was.
We went down to the river and found the most beautiful clear and inviting water, so a swim made this cache worthwhile on a hot summers day.

We had only the coordinates, so it took us some time to find the cache. Our GPS said: 10 metres off at 42°35.117'S 172°22.494'E. But end good, all good. Interesting bridge. TFTC!

Interesting trip to spend new years eve with Little g on our way to Kiateriteri great little walk Thanks LGM
Walked in here in patchy drizzle but no wind and not cold. A bit of a challenge to find the cache before reading previous logs. Managed to flush out a very fat woodpigeon during the search which flew across the river and landed on a branch above the bridge. It didn’t seem too afraid of me and let me walk across the bridge directly underneath it then get a couple of pics. Even then it didn’t fly away. Very cool.

After a failed trip in for this last time we wanted to change this so another attempt was made on our trip heading south for the Mega Event. Got to GZ and started floundering about again so took ourselves back to basics again and turned up the cache. Second of the day. I arrived at the parking spot and there were a few walker readying themselves for departure. I got going quickly and made it to the Gz before they did, only passing a walker on his way out.
Cache was a quick find and then off to the Bridge!
Thanks for the cache, Badget-Ferret

I ended up giving the walker a lift back to his car, at the Western end of the St James Walkway. He was quite appreciative!
A quick easy find using the hint as our coordinates wanted to take us further from the path. TFTC
Couldn't find this one a couple of years ago either, still no luck, oh well had an awesome backcountry trip.
My Map62s reckons it's 10 meters North of the listed Coordinate.
This was our second visit, first was in 2008, thought we'd be back sooner but finally we have had another go while remembering what we learned from logs read after our first attempt.
I like swing bridges.
TFTC.

Quick find for Mrs Buzz. Lovely stroll after celebrating a 60th in Hanmer. Needed the walk.
