Time to put this one to bed - As the flood waters recede this is sure to be gone sadly so it’s time to say goodbye - one of my oldest caches and the first in the Mildura area
Another cache find on our 2022 South Australian Adventure, yes I know we have wandered over the border. Never mind, It is a wonderful day, perfect for geocaching so we are off to see what we can find. Thanks to all the COs for taking us on this geo-guided tour.
fity_1965 and I decided to head away for an extra long weekend so that we could attend the Tri-State Community Celebration Events along with the other events that have popped up.
A fantastic time was had and a nice number of caches found. Thanks to all the CO's for holding the events and/or placing the caches.
We spent the night at the Euston Club Hotel: an amazing room for only $90 and thanks to Service NSW for pitching in the other $50. Up early to make the trek back to Mildura for breakfast at a local cafe. A tad noisy but not complaining about the company! Whilst at breakfast we made plans to Yushaun & Laighside Legends to do the Lock Island wherigo and a couple more along the way then the new virtual before heading back to NSW for the morning CITO.
It was wonderful to see cachers we hadn't seen for a while and to meet several new ones. There ended up being cachers from SA, Vic, NSW, Tas & QLD! Amazing!

28,485. Found with minniek and a couple of other Cachers while visiting the region for the Tri-State Community Events/International Geocaching Day weekend.
When minniek and I heard about the huge 8 event weekend (4 Community Celebration Events, 3 'normal' events and 1 CITO) to be held in Berri/Wentworth/Mildura/Euston celebrating International Geocaching Day, we knew that we wanted to be there. After two very busy days, we enjoyed the hour sitting enjoying a coffee and a nice breakfast to get the energy for the day ahead. We then headed out for more caches. This was the next one. Four of us made the tour around this wonderful area and after finishing the Wherigo we went on to this one for a quick find. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then continued on to the next one.
Thanks reverb !! A nice oldie ticked off.

After a big day day yesterday for international geocaching day we explored of the area with Mattycat and Perfect Di, with the water running quite well we decided to collect this cache and another nearby so we could explore the island, a few flowers and a photogenic kookaburra and the weir waterfall, cache was a quick find and in great condition

Wandered off with Purrfect Di [:X] , and met up with the Froghoppin duo [^] [^] and a whole bunch of other crazy cachers around the place too. Saw some sights, cached three states, and ate a whole lot of pub and cafe meals! Found far fewer mint tins than usual - gold star to Vic and NSW for that one!!!
Happy Geocaching Day weekend!
A nice little walk around the island with a cache or two! This one was quite the oldie too at 18 years!
Much thanks to reverb for locating and maintaining this cache on our VIC geo-map

Wandering the countryside - searching, spotting strange items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guyess or plain old dumb luck
Heaps of that luck stuff actually !!!
*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*
---
Caution! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for germs and bugs !!! . [xx(]
Make Travel Bugs the Only bugs you share and pass on
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside
Truly fantastic of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
Appreciate you reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!

Picked this one up after the breakfast event in Mildura and before the Cito in Buronga with some new geocaching friends.
Nice easy find after completing the loch island wherigo. Perfect weather for a walk.

Found it almost straight away, such a good little spot. The book was a little wet though with some mould starting and the clip on the container wasn't solid so maybe a new container is needed

A lovely island. It rained, we got wet feet. We enjoyed exploring. We followed the track to a logical location. Thanks for bringing us here.
Found during our stay at Mildura. Left the clan behind for these 2 caches. Walked down what I thought was a path (maybe it was at one point cos there was wooden borders either side at times), until I can across the actual path near the fence line of the industrial shed. Workers had knocked off for the day so enjoyed the peace and quiet at gz before heading off. Tftc
GPS was way off here but a bit of a search and I ROOTed out the cache. Nice little trip off the beaten track.

Thank you. We probably wouldn’t have walked around here without the lure of this cache.
I’m having this week off as others at work had the Easter break off so it was my turn and another trip up North to Mildura was planned.
I was able to leave Melbourne nice and early to get a few caches in on the way up to Culgoa.
So after a great feed and a couple of beers and of course great accomodation at the Kaneira Hotel I headed up towards Mildura to see how many I could find in the Paddle Steamer series.
I have managed to find 115 and 165 in the last couple days but the uni joint in my right knee has finally said enough is enough with all of the getting in and out of the Geocruiser so it is time to spend a casual day around Mildura.
I got up nice and early to attend the Dawn Service at the park and it was great to see so many people there paying their respects.
So now to have a walk around the town and along the river bank.
I made it to the lock and had a good look around crossed over and checked out the weir, soon located the cache and on the way back I was lucky enough for a house boat to turn up at the lock and see it in action.
Boy does the water get churned up when filling.
Thanks reverb TFTC.

Spending a few days in Mildura, joined by the rest of the Goldy clan for a family getaway.
We've been coming here since our first visit in 2008, it's a Goldy family favourite so I'm excited for the opportunity to find a few geocaches here and in some of the surrounding towns.
I'm also looking forward to experiencing some different hides in another state, as all my finds so far have been in South Australia.
I won't be able to get to all the caches due to having other plans with family, family always comes first.
So a high majority of caches on the "to be found" list are ones where I can learn local history and ones that are relatively quick and easy.
I've been primarily eyeing off the turtle series geoart and adventure labs.
After getting distracted watching a boat go through nearby lock 11, I made the walk over to GZ and made the find within a minute of searching.
All in good condition here.
Put my signature in the log book and returned the cache to its hiding spot.
Thanks to reverb for this cache.

Grabbing my hat and stamp and about to leave the carpark when a woman fell into step beside me. Seems someone had told her there was a little beach on far side of the island. Said I shoulda packed my togs. She said her MO was to swim in black underwear and nobody noticed Driving in wet underwear sounds not like fun We chatted and walked then I pointed her left, while I kept to the other side.
Nice walk over here. A quick find

Went for an evening out caching in Mildura today. A quick find once I found the correct way around to GZ. TFTC!
Dad said you realise that's where snakes would be yes dad but there's a cache eight there
In Mildura for work, so took the opportunity to see the area. Little detour just for this. TFTC!
Quick easy find with the geokids. Took some friends on an adventure today to show them what geocaching is. Lots of men doing maintenance so stealth was high! TFTC!
Enjoyed our walk through the park... made sure no workers were watching. TFTC. With Monks 55.
Found this one back at Easter when my uncle and Aunty were visiting us and reignited the fun back in us to go back to caching!
Last day in Mildura this trip and a chance to collect a few extras. Beautiful day to be out and about. Tftc
Enjoyed the walk throught this lovely Island. Saw the weir in operation and such wonderful bird life to be seen and heard. TFTC
Great walk along the river this afternoon and caching as well as we spent the day in Mildura before travelling home tomorrow. Lots of dogs and walkers about. Interesting read and watch of the movement of the lock. TFTC
Glad no one was working today. Firstly went down the wrong side, following the trail, as we could not see a path down that side. But it is there. Got to the weir, had a look, then turned around to circumnavigate the maintenance depot. Easy find, once at gz. Saw some birds near the lock, that may have been budgies, that I have never before seen in the wild. Saw the lock in operation as well. Tftc
Weather decided to rain on us as soon as we got over here but stopped as soon as we found the cache coincidence?? Tftc
Last day in Mildura then back to Sydney. Not sure how many more I’m going to able to find but happy I managed to squeeze one into today. Nice little island with a quick find

Here in Mildura for a few days with Snap Happy, omegaman1971, Happy Feet and Happy Pants.
It's my first time in Mildura, and a coffee and a wander around was the best way to get to know this cool place. Being here with cachers who have been here a few times meant some caches were much easier than others too! We saw a houseboat come through so this cache was even better today. Thanks for the cache reverb.

Took a needlessly hard path in (but saw a pelican and kangaroos en route), otherwise, a straightforward find. Thank you for the excuse to visit this island!
We didn't want to chase off the kangaroos and ended up bush walking, came up with the cache and an easier return route.
Stopped for one more cache before the long drive back to Melbourne. We narrowly missed a houseboat coming up the lock but found this little guy pretty easily - what a lovely little spot.

Found on a trip from Adelaide to the Mildura area for a few days of caching with Team Waldron, Brisal5 and FeatherWaite. Our main targets were the Paddle Steamer and Turtle geoart series' but we also took the opportunity to seek out a few other caches along the way.
We were fortunate with the weather. After a burst of very hot days, we timed our trip nicely to coincide with the milder conditions before the next hot spell. That helped to make both the caching and the camping along the Murray River and in the Murray-Sunset National Park very pleasant.
We ended up finding all the caches that we had targeted. Most were in good order. Some of the puzzles were quite challenging and there were some very novel and entertaining multi's. Some certainly took a bit of finding and there were many very clever and/or tricky caches and containers that were a credit to the cache owners’ ingenuity.
It would have been good to have had another day or two to complete the remaining caches in the area, but I’m sure we’ll be back.
Thanks to all the cache owners for the hides.

Found during a trip from Adelaide to the Mildura area for a few days of caching with Brisal5, e.gregory1 and Team Waldron with the main aim to complete the Paddle Steamer and Turtle GeoArt series but also to find other caches along the way. We camped out on the banks of the Murray River near Mildura on the first night, at Rocket Lake campground in the Murray-Sunset National Park on the second night, then back to the banks of the Murray River near Merbein on the last night. We signed the logs as B.E.F.W. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the cache!

This is a bonus and a different view of the mighty Murray. Lovely cool arvo after the rains petered out. On another trip to Mildura with a buddy who doesn’t mind exploring the old haunts of a long ago childhood! Plenty of birds, kids and Fisher folk. TFTC
Having just spent a fabulous couple of days with The Tritonz and micaparamedic doing the new PS geoart series, we made our way back to Mildura and spent a lovely afternoon in the glorious sunshine exploring Lock Island.
