Nice hide . Out doing some work at beach front so tide was low and programmedben took me to the island. Cheers
My kids are wussy, to clod and squishy for them to wade across so ended up carrying them.... Jojo said I had to carry them back as well.
We were walking our geomutts and it was low tide, so I thought why not go on over and find the cache? I took off my shoes and socks and left them off. It wasn't that bad getting up to GZ. Luckily the muggle family that were almost following me, headed off a different direction. Maybe they saw me head on over to the island and thought they'd copy me? It took a bit to get the sludge out from between my toes. No, I did not take the geomutts over. They stayed in the shade on Ruff Island. TFTC.
13 film crew?Did I see right?I was able to retrieve sign and return cache without compromising the cache**TFTC**
Found it! Bring some shoes (there's a little bit of gorse and blackberry on the island!)
Checked out the cache when visiting with Agazo today. All good here. Long grass hides the hint object.
We went sure the tide was just right, but it was low enough to get to the island without getting our feet wet. Being along with the CO made the find even easier. TFTC.
After finding the nearby challenge it was time to find other caches out this way. Back on with the shoes that are used for walking over mud for our second mid walk of the day. I certainly made some lovely bird-like squelching noises. A lovely walk in the sun. I looked up at one stage to see the other three, all the the same time, taking a photo of me all at the time. I laughed so much I forgot to take a photo of them. Apologies for the late logging. In Nelson with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-Mcgoo for a few days of caching and meeting up with other cachers from Nelson. All logs signed as NMTY.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache andy.gail.
Welcome to day 2 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.
We came to Rough Island this morning to get a particular Challenge Cache, and to do any other caches that took our interest including this one.
Having already walked over to a cache in our Wellies, the route to this one would cause us no issues at all. Nothing untoward to report with the cache or log, so everything was replaced exactly as found and we were back on our way again.
Thanks for setting this one up.

(# 7837) A caching trip to Nelson with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Day 2 of a 4 day trip interspersed with exploring and humour. Had appropriate footwear and the tide was kind. A quick find.
The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ. Thanks for bringing me here.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.
As we were in the area for the nearby Challenge cache, we naturally grabbed a few of the other caches around here too. And since we already had the appropriate footwear and tide conditions, the short walk out here was not a problem.

Thanks to usakiwi and andy.gail for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

A prickly puzzle. With the dead goarse. But in the end it was the dog that sniffed it out.
I have had bad experiences with this terrain in the past: having to wash shoes and socks and legs in rhe ladies before I could buy lunch for the other mudlark. Today the tide was waaay out altho that was by luck rather than planning. An easy walk over and our find was soon rock solid. Tftc
A nice quick find thanks. We drove passed after doing the Ad Lab hide and the way to the island looked doable, so off we went. Muddy feet, though only on the soles, so cool to get this one done. Fav point for the fun.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee road trip to Nelson. Today we had another great day, cruising from Kaiteriteri, Motueka, Rabbit Island and on back to Nelson.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

No problem getting to the island this morning although I am sure the tide was not at its lowest. Great to find such an oldie, thank you for maintaining! TFTC!!
Found it on a brautiful sunny day. Bit of a prick to access it but worth the effort. TFTC
Great spot. Short swim across but water wasn't too cold once you got moving. Many thanks
Will we won't we?? Gate shuts soon .. of course we can shellsadventure and I arè always up for 'just one more cache'. Thanks
When the husbands away the wives will play haha - Straight out the door for a Saturdays geocaching adventure with Missnboyz. Ooooh the excitement.... the mud... the running... got it! TFTC

A nice simple find here. We were a couple of hours from low tide but still a comfortable crossing. Only other activity here was a couple of fishery officers training their binoculars on some fisher-people across the way. No probs, TFTC Andy.gail
Today, Jo and I are in Nelson targeting anything that will allow us to go for a bike ride. We planned it a while ago as, because Jo works Saturdays, lately we haven’t had the chance to go caching together much.
But there was an elephant in the room - the weather. There was something like 19mm of rain scheduled for just a few hours in the afternoon today and not a lot else in the forecast to write home about either. Still, this didn’t put us off, and if it turned really bad we can just do some park and grabs, right?
So we got away early, got into Nelson and the weather had held off. It was much worse on the way over actually.
So, a few caches on Rough Island first, and still no rain. Optimistic, into Rabbit island we went and this is where it all turned a little bit King Lear Act III
Everything got soaked in the next few hours, and I remembered just how frustrating it can be using a phone (in a waterproof pouch) to go geocaching when the outside is so wet you simply cannot navigate the map on it and any raindrop is likely to send the map somewhere else. Add to this a couple of spills - the best one right over the handlebars when the front tire dug into some deep sand. The next best, a branch through the spokes.
Still, Jo could not be fazed and we soldiered on through it. Eventually we got a decent haul of 30 odd, had some fun and some character building as well. Hey, at least it wasn’t cold. Thanks all COs.

On a roll! Checking out Rabbit Island and it's many delights with Lustylass. This was our sixth find of the day. Have taken sad face travelbug K103YV off this tidal island and will move it along.
We looked at this from Rabbit Island today but the tide was too far in to attempt from there and I suspect this will always be the case. Looking at it on the satellite view, it looks like it should be attempted from Rough Island, so we'll save it for a future mission.
Lovely spot.Easy find.We both enjoyed thoroughly.
Dropped off a trackable we bought over from Australia.Go get it now!

Found it, was a bit exposed so I fixed that. Contents are wet and couldn't use the notebook.
With shopping commitments out of the way and heaps of spare time, The Seagnoid and I are off to check out burrows around Rabbit Island, on our trusty steeds Jack and Jill. So Lets GO!
With Rabbit Island mostly sorted we load up Jack and Jill and drive to the end of Rough Island. Yes this island is still high and dry or nearly. Looks a bit muddy so with a change to some old mud shoes we are on our way. Quick snag and tag here. Cheers.
Nice little island with some restoration work in evidence. Then notice the access way just up there. Toby would have enjoyed getting here. But not today.

The location did well to survive the storm last week but cache was full of water. Emptied out but log needs replacing was unable to sign

Today was a rest day - a picnic and cruisy bike ride at Rabbit Island, yes please. And thank you usakiwi - this cache placement took us to the perfect quiet scenic picnic spot. Low tide, a short walk over and there it was. Nice to find this old-timer!
SJT_NZ had checked out the tides so we were sorted, dry feet and a smilies what more do you need. TFTC
Good coordinates led to an instant find whilst out on a Sunday morning caching walk with TregearP. All in good condition and no water in the cache or bag, but the log book was damp although no difficulty signing.
It was an easy access for us at almost dead low tide, and nice to come to this small tidal island.
Thanks for the cache.

Found this after looking at the hint. Emptied the water out if the container. Log still dry but everything else soaked. Kids loved the crossing to the little island. Tftc
Was wondering if it was still here as the last find was 4 months ago, but it is
TFTC. I was delighted to be able to wander across the water to make the find on this cache.
Thanks usakiwi for placing this fun cache.
Thanks usakiwi for placing this fun cache.
The tide was ideal today to pop over and find this one = the island is going to look great in years to come if all of the trees grow tftc
Another tide related cache and the tide was just right for us to stroll on over to this island. A quick find and then a natter to a muggle replanting the island as a retirement project. Good on him!
Awesome love ❤ this one. Will get a favourite from me. Not sure what the orange arrows are about. Will have to come back and check it out in a while. TFTC
Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on a winter holiday with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, setting our tent up at a different campsite each night. We didn't have any real plan, just went where the caches took us we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day as 3 weeks isn't really that long!
Finally made it to Sunny Nelson, definitely one of my favourite places.
Quick find, loved the island, TFTC

Thanks for taking us to this place , wouldn`t usually walk out here nice spot. TFTC.
We took the kayaks out to find a few caches. We landed a bit further on and had to walk back to get it.

Tide was out. Bikes were hidden, and a quick walk across the dry sands saw us putting our mark on the log. TFTC!!!
Love this one - timed it for low tide & was a great side track to a walk thankyou.
We have been here many times but never at the right time. Today we were here to Fetch and suddenly realised it was low tide and a crossing was possible. We followed the compass but soon had to make a retreat out of the thick mud. suddenly saw the little causeway - duh from there is was easy to the nice hide on the island. Nobody around these parts today.
Thank you for the cache.
Thank you for the cache.
Out for an afternoon walk. Thought a good time to catch up on some local caches. Had to doge a muggle or two walking their dogs. Even ran into a cacher from Chch. Thanks for all the caches
Luckily the tide was low today, we hadn't checked beforehand. Added a few trade items to replenish the stock. Thanks!

Nice little Island looks like there has been an old house here at some stage, although can never remember hearing anything about it. tftc
Making the most of a low tide, we made this the first of what turned out to be a fun day geocaching in this very pleasant area..
After a visiting the area before the Valentines Day event last Sunday, we were back today with the purpose of getting my finds count to 8999 before tackling Cross Words for my 9,000th find this evening. And there were a couple of recently published caches as an added incentive.
Had noticed that this cache was inaccessible at high tide, so this was the first stop as the tide was coming in. We drove close by, and spotted the "path" to the island. StreetWalker changed into sandals but I found that shoes were fine, as the puddles could be easily negotiated.
Quick find then back across to the car, where we discovered that someone had forgotten to lock it - luckily it was still there with nothing missing.
That's day #298 of my streak sorted! TFTC.

#9160. Troodles was so keen to get here before the tide got to high that we put off our morning coffee. As it happened we would have had plenty of time for a coffee. The walk to the island was straightforward. Troodles then took a better route and got to GZ first, and made a quick find. TFTC.
A caching trip to Nelson for the Seagnoid and I, G H 6 7 1 0 has a splitting........wood job to do for a friend so had to call off late yesterday. tS and I decided that caching Rabbit Island by bicycle, culminating in the event later in the day would be just the job. Due to a few big days this week I didn't get round to sorting out 2 M T Bs for us so I had to borrow one from work and t S had to use his road bike, skinny tyres and all.
A nice day weather wise with the sun shining proudly and nary a wisp of wind, almost perfect caching weather and after 6 hours cycling we'd found quite a few of Rabbit Island's caches, yay
Tide level was perfect as we headed to G Z so across the flats on our bikes. Easy in and out today and a nice place for a cache. Saw it later from another area of the island and it was an island again. All in all it's just another..................................cache, a good one too.

[green] There is an event on at Rabbit Island, so Capperz and I thought this is a good opportunity to cache out the island. Couldn't quite do it, but got pretty close. Our start time got delayed as there was a hiccup with bicycles. I ended up having to use my road bike, skinny tyres and all. Wasn't a problem most of the way, but it sure was for some parts!
Well, this one was a stroke of luck. We walked the bikes to the island, not even getting the soles of our shoes wet, and then rode back - bit of a risk, but it worked. Gets a favourite and a path tag just for being on a little island - and for being so cool!

Quick find and sign, got wet feet coming back as the tide was coming in fast today,,,, Thanx4tc
