I did all the groundwork and got to the right spot, but only had about 5 minutes to look before it started pouring with rain. At least I know roughly where it is for my next Sydney visit and will take the advice of others about approaching it from above now that I've read previous logs! Why does it always rain like it's never rained before when I'm in this part of Sydney? It was quite a long walk back to town in the rain for me and my poor wife.

This one was fun! Thanks for the cache. The cache container is wet and need maintenance.

This was the best Multi Cache we did in Australia till now as it had an interesting story combined with a beautiful location. Thanks for hiding it.

During our stay in this wonderful city we did this nice multi together with VP244. We really had a nice walk through the city, some places we surely wouldn’t have seen without the cache. Thanks for showing! The log book was quite wet and full, we left a new sheet of paper.

What a great walk, enjoyed looking at the sights. Should of read the logs before I went, the log is still wet.

16-May-09
... The bad news is that the cache is well and truly soaking

We didn't sign the log as we didn't think the paper would stand up to it.
We did drain the excess water (??? I hope it was water!) out and put it back in its possie.

A new log and a more water proof container would be a really good idea.
We didn't have anything of a suitable size, so the owner or next finder should see to this.

We did the leg work a couple of weeks ago. We came back late Saturday to avoid the workmen.
The good news is that the work is finished and the cache is readily accessible again...

Barley found cache, one of the first multi caches I have done, so I was determined to find it. got all the way to the last location, tried to use this hint to find it, but didn't understand how to decode it. So i used my instinct and was able to be successful. The log book is wet and not able to write on, please replace. TFTC

WOW!! FIRST MULTI. This was very cool thank you much for the time invested in making this a great find.

Absolutely awesome cache - loved it - Thank you

[:X][:X][:X]Lizzie[:X][:X][:X] and I were visiting WP2 for other reasons, so we worked through this one, and really enjoyed it, though it made a nonsense of the idea of "paperless" caching [8] We also loved some of the other sculptures we discovered en route.

Workmen are still in place though. It looks like they'll be there for some months yet. We will be back in the area next week, but out of hours next time, so we will emulate Blossom* and try for GZ then.

29-Apr-09
Did not find it, Had lots of fun trying though.I might have to have a nother go at the end bit.

24-Apr-09
Workmen were about around GZ so I gave it a miss this time.

The rest of the walk was interesting and very pleasent.

Thanks.

30-Mar-09
I had so much fun with this one. It's really well thought out and anyone visiting Sydney would really enjoy it. I took along a muggle friend who is now very keen to do a few more caches.

All the waypoints were very clear and we did find GZ fenced off becasue they are rebuilding the road and footpath in this area. However, being 6:30 pm, there were no workmen still there and, as GZ was nowhere near their actual work, I figured it was safe enought to get the cache. Which we did!

However, can The Reigate Squires please give the cache a bit of maintenance becasue we found it with water in and the log is totally wet and a bit slimy now.

TFTC, it's a heap of fun.

13-Mar-09
Dropped by for a visit today. Couldn't access the cache because it's cordoned off by temporary fencing erected by workmen. Might be worth waiting a while to search for this one.

26-Feb-09
A very enjoyable walk through the park collecting all the clues. When we got to the final there were loads of muggles around but they were too busy looking at the big boat (QM2)to notice what were were doing so we found the cache after a brief search. There was some water inside that we tipped out and the log is very damp. Thanks for a great cache

14-Feb-09
A great hunt for this one, and I found more monuments that I ever knew of, well done. Cache had been muggled by some ho-bo, contents was thrown all over the ground, and container was full of water. I have dryed it out the best I could, and have placed the swaps back into the cache. I have restowed the cache were I thought it should be. TFTC TNLN SL

Wow, what a wunderful walk around Sydney. Due to the stress about Australia day, I had a few long walks once in a while, but it was a very nice day, so it was no problem a all. A very nice place for a cashe indeed. And also a very educating and exiting trip. Thanks for this cashe!

We very much enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the lane finding the features in this cache. Visited the Monet exhibition at the NSW Art Gallery while we were there.

We found the Cache lying exposed on the ground. We replaced it in what we think is a safer hiding spot for it. Not too hard to find.

The first number of waypoints were already done, but on our way to Carols in the Domain, we did the two last ones and found the cache.
Took TB Great Barrier Reef Fish Story, left eraser and crown.

I enjoyed this but have to log as a DNF. No troubles with any of the stages but could not find the cache at GZ. Found plenty of trash, syringes and sleeping bag but no cache. This would be a good site for CITO

Have been working on this one for some time. Gathered everything a while ago and have visited GZ before only to be denied. After a more careful reading of all the logs I had my suspicions which were confirmed with a quick find this morning. Cache was waterlogged- I tipped out the water and grabbed one of the coins. At last we have had chance to inspect this cache and replace the over-full logsheet. All is well, but the area will be very very crowded over the next few weeks of Papal festivities. There is still evidence of nocturnal habitation at the cache site, but if you approach from above you will avoid the debris. By day this is still one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of Sydney.
Lead on, Watson!

I started this one with Toonarmy one a lunchtime a few months ago but didn't have time to search GZ. Got off my backside today and finished it off. Having just averted the tradegy and made the world a safer place, Mr Ozjeeper was having a chat with Holmes when his host was feeling a bit peckish. "How about sharing a Hot Dog?" said Mr Ozjeeeper. "Precisely what I need" replied Mr Holmes. And that's how the geocoin got to be left in the cache.

Thanks Regate Squires for the adventure and for showing us some statues we hadn't previously seen. The "local man" looked magnificent at around 4.00 p.m. with the sun in just the right spot - pity there was no camera available to record the moment.

The right way to do this is to approach from the top. You'll soon find that you're on the right track and you don't even have to descend to the "living area" below the cache's hiding spot.

It took me three attemts to get to the cache. I first tried to combine it with "Tolkien Tree", but could not find the date on WP3 in the dark. Came back today in the noon, found my way to GZ, but there were way too much muggles taking their lunch break around. But again in the dark (10 pm) I finally got the cache. Thanks for this great multi-cache.

BTW: The logbook is full.

21-Apr-08
followed the clues all the way to the GZ with a few sightseeing detours along the way, however didn't find the cache. didn't feel comfortable wondering about someone's home.

04-Apr-08
Found on the Sydney caching tour with Cherryblue. Worked our way happily to GZ, then spent a frustrating 55 minutes digging around with no luck, once again. As we were packing up, I decided to wander for a bit as the GPSr always had us very near, but not on, GZ - due to the trees and topography, I had assumed (we all had assumed!) Within thirty seconds I was cursing and running back: "there's another bloody set of ... !"

Sure enough, the cache was in hand mere seconds after arriving at the *right* location. Just as we were on our way out the resident muggle returned home and exchanged an amicable greeting. He assures us the beer bottles are the previous tenant's work.

Thankyou for such a fun cache.

27-Mar-08
I actually followed the clues all the way to GZ and have a lovely walk and some wonderful views, but had a bit of trouble pinpointing the cache in the end. It's actually getting a bit hazardous here - this space is clearly used by someone experiencing homelessness, so I felt a bit uncomfortable entering and hovering around their space, plus a number of syringes were lurking in the grass... Please be careful!

Had ace fun following the clues for this one. My sidekick for the day, Chris is a very keen Sherlock fan and retold the story of the book as we went through our clues. Thankfully he is also quite good at maths and corrected one of my wrongs. Left car and took the geocoin. Thanks loads - so good to find a geo in the city that isn't a micro Smile

The logbook does need replacing badly. I can do it for you if you like?

15-Jan-08
Followed the trail and after a second attempt with crrected maths ( thanks HiQ feral !) located cache. It is worth noting that you do not have to leave the steps and trample in the rubbish dump left by drunk muggles - marring an otherwise excellent cache - did not bring either my swimmers or A large CITO bag both of which would have enhanced the trip. Thanks for the adventure!

Arrggghhh!!
My only DNF today...
After finding 4 other caches today I thought myself and my geopartner (her first day on the hunt!) were on a lucky stroll...
Found WP1 to WP4 without trouble but the final location remained not found.
I am almost certainly sure that the last coordinates I entered were correct but a 45minute thorough search of the muggle-free area returned nothing...
The additional hint was useless as I couldn't decipher it!
Maybe next time.
TFTH anyway, it was good fun walking through this park and calculating the next waypoints... I felt a bit like Indiana Jones for a while...
Monthy.

12-Dec-07
A fabulous lunchtime cache chase. I just had to dodge the thousands of corporate jogging muggles that were swarming everywhere, except GZ Big Grin
A great selection of interesting waypoints along the way. Solving the maths at each one was quite elementary Smile
I found the treaty safely tucked away with out being attacked by possums or setting off booby traps or being attacked by knights of the realm. It was ratified by me and rehidden for the next geocachologist to find Big Grin
My final duty was to inspect the facilities of this fine navy and attend the officers mess down the hill for high tea Smile

04-Dec-07
searched with cherryred, iribarren and spoked. got all the waypoints easy enough, but once at GZ, even with a cracked clue couldnt find the cache at all... found a possum under a nearby ledge though.

04-Dec-07
Well, after an hour of disappointment we kind of obliterated bits of GZ in a last-ditch attempt to find the cache. We weren't quite sure how to ... put everything back. I'm hoping we were just blind, rather than the cache is gone. Although our search was restricted by a little furry friend.

Quick lunch time outing for team bloopy and a cache for our efforts. Had to hide from the stream of passing joggers but other than that not too many problems. Cheers!

Looks like the blighters have returned our missing waypoint. The game is afoot once again!

28-Oct-07
We found all of the clues back in March but came up empty handed at ground zero. Finally made our way back to have another look and with fresh eyes found the cache so quickly we couldn't believe we'd missed it last time. Removed an expired movie rental ticket. Otherwise, TNLNSL. TFTC!

29-May-07
Oh No! Just saw the news! One of the waypoints is now on loan to the Australian National Gallery for a while - this could make this cache a bit of a challenge until the sculpture in question returns in September.

29-May-07
Sadly one vital stage of this multi was swapped with a different piece of artwork today - so this will need a slight rework.

By thunder, Watson, they've purloined a waypoint!

Great part of town I never visit.

11-Mar-07
Needed to go outside for a while so headed out with geekHaus to try my first multi-cache. We enjoyed the clues and had a very nice walk. Spent a while sitting on GZ looking around but unwilling to poke about much in the urban debris. We weren't very good at decrypting the 2nd cipher for a clue so decided to go for dinner and come back another day. Well fed, the cipher was much easier to crack so we're ready to have a look with fresh eyes.

20-Feb-07
Well we found all the waypoints and really enjoyed the walk, sydney is really a great place. Got to GZ, were positive it was right as there was the clear signs of rubbish, longnecks and the hermit camp/sleeping area. Mrs Nilbog sent Mr Nilbog down to look but no luck among the longnecks. But hey, perhaps it was the muggles and the excitement of the Queen Mary 2 that stymied our attempt (see photos).

17-Feb-07
Our first cache down under! Had a very pleasant walk in the park.
After having logged we were spotted by the security but just as they were approaching us we found lost fishing gear in the grass, with which we could distract their attention to the stash area. After all, when we told them we came all the way from holland it was all ok!

Thanks for the cache!

Found 15:30. 1st of 2 FFTD. Last day back in Sydney before heading back to Adelaide tonight. Took the opportunity of an early finish with study to complete this great cache. Well set up cache, the only disappointing thing is the rubbish at GZ (and maybe the size of the cache, what is it with micro's in Inner Sydney?). TNLNSL. TFTC.

WOW! The Pres has been wanting to do this one for some time, so after checking into our accomodation we headed out for a cache. We really enjoyed the walk through the interesting locations, it's been a while since we've found a multi of this calibre. When we arrived at GZ though we hit problems..... apparently there are two staircases, both very forgotten, and of course we went to the wrong one, not trusting our GPS as it has been very dissagreable of late. After searching for almost 20 minutes and exhausting all possibilities twice, we phoned a friend. Still no luck! We were leaving with our heads low when the 1st lady raised her head and spotted another staircase. Hooray! We headed to it to find a hermit's camp there, long necks and all. After climbing over the junk the 1st lady had the cache in hand in no time flat. Great cache guys, pity about the hermit though. TNLNSL

Had great fun with Gazma doing this one.

We started just after doing "Tolkien Tree" and managed WP1 with no troubles. Same as wp2, no troubles. However, when we arrived at Wp3, we had a little stumble. As both of us have bad eyesight we were looking everywhere for the date. Just as we were about to give up, a security guard came to check out what we were up to and make sure we weren't doing anything illegal. AFter a brief explanation, he was happy to help search and had found the date we needed in no time at all. We were stoked because neither of us could see them even when he pointed them out! Once at Wp4, the same security guard rocked up again and asked if we needed any help finding clues again ( I think we have him converted! )
When we arrived at GZ Gazma made the find in a matter of minutes and we then sat in the shade and had lunch Smile

Thanks for such a great multi!

Found all the way points easily and then arrived at cache area.
Had a good look around but like a few others I found a heap of used syringes. Apparently the cache is nowhere near any syringes but it seems people have been shooting up seriously since the last person found the cache because they were all over the place.
I'd hate to give this one up after all the effort but may have to. Pity after the pleasant walk from WP to WP.

[Wow - this was fun. I managed to complete it in my lunch hour, but it was tough to get out there and back in the time (don't tell the boss, but I might have been 10 minutes late getting back).

Some pretty extensive pre-work had gone into this, I was able to find most of the waypoints by google searching and checking the websites for certain Sydney parks and gardens. I had an approximate for another based on some knowledge of Australian Army Battalion numbers ](in fact one of the 3 digits only had one real possibility). [So it was really just a case of rushing to each waypoint and confirming/fine tuning my GPS waypoints.

Thanks for a fun lunchtime outing.

Last of five finds for the night in and around the CBD. Well, anyway, it started near the CBD. Wink I had just logged "Tolkien Tree" nearby, so I thought I'd have a crack at this one, in spite of the time of night. I started the epic journey at 2145. This is an atypical Sydney multi-cache! It is enjoyable; it actually tells you where to go and what to look for; the locations are interesting, and the views along the way are great (even at night); the maths are simple; and the coordinates are all accurate. In other words, a typically enjoyable Reigate Squires cache! [^] I was even treated to a fireworks display between WP3 and WP4.

Each successive waypoint took me further and further away from the CBD (and my car). I kept thinking that the next waypoint would send me back, but it didn't. I thought I was going to end up at Kings X! Anyhow, I eventually arrived at GZ and started searching. I reckoned I knew where it would be hidden, and I was right, however, I didn't find it until I had spent about 30 minutes looking. When my first guess failed to turn up the cache I extended my search area. At one point I found a flat, black, plastic box laying out in the open. I thought I had found it! I opened it and found two used syringes inside! Surprised There was also a McDonalds bag (of all things) nearby that was also infested with sryinges. It made me thing twice about sticking my hand into places I couldn't see into. (By the way, the cache was located a long way from the syringes.) I was on the verge of giving up, but I thought I would have one last look at where I reckoned it was, and I found it (thankfully) at 2255. (If only I had looked properly the first time . . . [|)]) I would have been mighty disappointed if I had to go home empty handed after the effort I had put in. Thanks to The Reigate Squires for a quality cache.

This cache seemed to easy going through all the waypoints. Found them no problem. But after an hour of searching, I didn't find the actual cache. I was 6 of 13 for the day, but this one was the most depressing after finding the other stages. Maybe I'll try again on the 1st.

As DS8300 said in the logbook - "So nice to do a multi after all those micros". And nice to be all within an easy walk too. The clue was pretty frustrating - but after all that work, I wasn't going to give up, and finally got it.

A well thought out and interesting multi in a pleasant area. Liked the cache hiding place. I wonder what the history behind them is? TNLN

6/9 for today and the first of 4 multis. I'd laid out the ground work for this cache and "The Matrix Has You" before setting out from home, so we could quickly work though the waypoints. Which was all well and good but with the intense heat of today frying my brain I forgot to carry The One a few times so we travelled further than we should have. The water looked soooooo inviting I was tempted to strip and dive in, but modesty (and Swampy's protests) prevented me from doing so.

A very interesting cache with some good waypoints.

Thanks to The Reigate Squires for the hunt from The Ginger Loon.
