Logs
Looking at the photographs posted by Davinells it appears that the found cache may not have been the long lost geocache placed by Rogainer but actually a cache listed on the (now defunct) alternate cache listing site Navicache.com.
Today the goal was to get to the Gap in the wall. wayn0 and I set off on the path to Sylvesters Lookout. As we approached we saw a container sitting on the platform and on the lid was the words official geocache. We didnt think there was a cache up here?! Not to miss an opportunity we signed a piece of paper and added it to the container as the original logbook was soaked. When we got back into reception wayn0 did some searching and discovered it was this cache. After reading the most recent logs its interesting that this replacement has lasted so long. We tucked the cache under the edge of the platform. Great lookout and a great spot for a cache. Tftc RogainerFind #4650
We weren't expecting this today! That's why neither of us had a pen haha! The one inside the container eventually started to work again so our names were added to this great cache. After this very pleasant surprise we continued on to visit the Gap in the Wall Earthcache which exceeded both of our expectations. A great weekend of geocaching goodness! Thanks for placing. Cheers
Hello,
It is Rana Pirica, the geocache maintenance frog, once again hopping through your area to check on geocache maintenance.
Since there has been no owner activity on this cache page and it has been over 30 days since the request to perform maintenance, this cache has been archived. Please remove any remaining cache components if you have not already done so. If there are questions about the archival or if you would like it to be re-considered for listing please e-mail me or your local reviewer in response to this archival, and we will help to unarchive your cache if possible. I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and look forward to seeing your further participation in the future.
Sincerely,

I actually find this personally upsetting. As the owner, I obviously feel like it is my property which has been actively seeked out and stolen.
I can see no logical reason why a cache such as this would upset anybody - it gets one visit about every 2 or 3 months!
The impact of such would not be noticeable and would be far less than any other activity.
This cache is out of the way and impossible to find unless you have an account with Geocaching.com
The whole thing is really hypocritical - here we have people actively geocaching, but removing the caches so nobody else can enjoy them.
Geocaching is meant as a fun activity to encourage families to explore their own backyards - yet for some reason we are actively discouraging it - why?
At least they could contact the owner - disgraceful conduct if you ask me.

I have sad news, this cache has also been hit [:(!] by the QPWS. (Cunninhams Gap caches gone recently)
Lucky for the Pirate, his "Castle Keep" cache nearby, is outside the Natioal Park boundry, so it remains in place.
What are we going to do?
As you can see the QPWS have replaced an inert container with a coat hanger wire twisted around a tree.
The geocache has had no environmental impact for years, but that wire will have an impact on that tree within months!
Is there something we can do (as an organised group?)

Again we came here two years ago but did not know about geocaching, What fun it brings to come visit the same areas again with a challenge. We walked for the camp ground last time! This time we drove
It was a great day after lunch down the dottom of the mountain. Found it at 3:30 in thge arvo. Not wrong about being cautious around the GZ. Top views from the lookout.
In: Grey finger Puppet. Out: Fishing Bells.

Found with Anne Maree, It was a cloudless windless winters day, a nice short walk, an easy find and a magnificent outlook thanks for bringing us here Rogainer, we made no swaps
Found it on VERY rainy day. Lookout was completely white, we couldn't see a thing! I think this helped ease the nerves when getting to cache, we couldn't see the drop off!
TNLN, Thanks!
TNLN, Thanks!
We wouldnt have come to this national park if we hadnt noticed the caches in the area. A good camping spot at the nearby campground as well. Definitely caravan friendly. A beautiful location. We loved the walk and the views near gz. Cache well hidden and in good condition. TNLN. Thanks Rogainer
Another find for the day, and another one that I thought was too far off the mapped roads, so hadn't considered doing it until we got here. Spectacular view, and had the late afternoon sun on the cliffs.

Great spot for a cache.
Excellent views and a lovely walk through the forest. Brought two of the boys for a days walk throught the northern region on this world heritage listed national park. We were not disappointed. Lucky we held onto our hats when on the viewing platform

Spent a while looking in the wrong place for this one, but eventually found it. A great location, thanks.
I have tried to find this cache in the past without success but today at 1.30 it became my lucky day. A great walk to find it and even better views when you get there. Rain has made the search a little more difficult and dangerous and you need to be careful with children around. I took a toy and left a golf ball. I have also taken the YinYang and will assist it on it's jurney soon. Thanks Rogainer for the experience.
excellent view from up here visited this one and other one down the road while camping at gordon country took bookmark left lay and TB thanks for cache
Up here with a few freinds showing them the lookout, so popped in here to check up on the cache - all is fine.
Dropped in a couple of signature pens while I was here.

I really found this cache interesting. It was about to rain and I didn't have a raincoat. But thanks to a miricle the cache had one in it. Many thanks for the cache
Took raincoat Left two egg toys.

Up here with the September Geotreck - so an ideal opportunity to check on this cache. Old cache had definitely vanished & Hawmorfords have chosen a good spot for the new one. Attached are the coordinates I got at the new spot.
11:10hrs The replacement cache was a little elusive until an arggghhhhh was heard from a pirate. GPS reception was scratchy at best. I believe Rogainer will update the co-ords to make life easier on everybody. TFTC.
Nice walk to this one with the Sept Geotrek group. Took a bit of looking for but it eventually surfaced. TNLN and TFTC.
Found this with in the company of the Sept Geotrek group. Thanks to Rogainer for the cache and to Russell for getting us up here. Cheers TNLNSL
Nice spot for a cache...reception was hard to get so I was glad to be with people with better GPS units than mine.. Great view from the lookout. Will have to come back with the whole bounder family TFTC
Nice easy walk once we were near the spot. Glad I was with a group as it may have went unfound. New cordinates should resolve this.

Co ords were out? and I thought it was just me! A great lookout over the valley!
What a fantastic view! We especially went to this one on a very busy day but had no difficulty in maintaining privacy. The GPS was a little erratic because of tree cover but moving around we soon found the cache. The road was underwater at the start of the track but we had no difficulty in travelling here with a normal 2wd vehicle.

We decided a couple of weeks ago that we would make our way back down to this area on the next occasion we had a day free.
It is truly lovely at this time of year as the mountains are a beautiful blue and the air is really cool and clear.
We hadn't been to this particular spot and have always wanted to check it out for camping. The camp grounds are great and we will be back soon for the odd overnighter though it would be wonderful to see the creeks flowing - plenty of rain needed here too !!!
The drive in and the walk to cache is very pretty but the views from the cache are spectacular !!!
On arriving, we set about seeing if we could track down this elusive cache. We had a good description of where it should be from Rogainer though after scratching around for almost an hour, we decided it must have gone missing.
We placed a new cache supplied by Rogainer and will send on some piccies as getting a good signal was difficult.
We also dropped in a few goodies to boost the stocks a little. Cheers and thanks for bringing us out here.

I am very grateful to the HawMorFords who offered to check this cache for me. The cache has been replaced and is now an ammo box - coords updated also.
Oh dear,
Looks like this one is MIA
might be a little while before I can get out there to replace it.

Auscan44 with a group of friends spent much time in this area but was unable to locate cache even though no rock was left unturned.
Oh dear. Try as we might with a mighty team effort, we still couldn't find this one. With team weroamin using a Garmin and team mikey moo using a Magellan, we both sort of went to the same co-ords for most of the time, although the signal was difficult. We have probably made it hard for the next seeker, after we left it looked like a bunch of ferrel pigs had turned over the ground. Maybe a good old magnetic compass, and stepping out the distance might get to the cache.
While camping at the nearby Goomburra camp grounds, this was the first cache in the area that we searched for. After two attempts at the cache we decided to give up.
The first time we searched, we had six of us clambering through the bushes and all over the rocks without any luck. Towards the end we were pretty sure we had turned over every rock that could be lifted without a crowbar.
On the second attempt the next day, with an extra GPS unit and a boost of confidence after finding the nearby 'Ridge Walk', only the three most determined cache hunters could be bothered. Unfortunately, even using the clue, we had to finally give up.

Found the cache where you said, great views.
Left my own cache on one of the nearby hikes..its called 'Ridge Trail'

Spent about 5 minutes poking around in the area but couldn't locate it. There were a lot of muggles around, my mini-cacher decided it was time to go, and the GPS just couldn't get a good clean fix - one minute it would say I was 1m from the cache then I'd be 40m from it. Will be back again soon for another crack.
Views from here, and the other nearby lookout are breathtaking. From the other lookout we were able to see the skyscrapers of brissy.

Had some of the same problems as Garner family ie gate at bottom was locked. Near mutiny from younger members on long walk up the road. Found cache after 20min. search. Clue was useful as co-ords a bit out I think. Some confusion after reading other people's entries on the web. Only signing in notebook in cache before us was by "Manta". Been here many times before. Lovely weekend camping nearby at Goomburra Valley camping ground (private) Excellent facilities and a great spot.
Took dominoes and stamp. Left toy truck packet of Tarzos and a golf ball.

Only a 450m walk eh?
I arrived at the bottom of the hill to find a creek over the road... that's ok, I could probably get the Tarago through it but just up ahead it says "Road closed due to wet conditions". Well I'd come this far... so I wasn't going to be deterred so off I headed on foot.
The 12km round trip walk, ascending 400m up the hill and then back down, would have been all the more satisfying if I'd actually found the thing though!! I searched for a good 45 minutes... my GPS was pointing me in the same place as the hint but I just couldn't get it.
Oh well, if anyone is planning on driving up there in dry weather one day, let me know & I might just come along.
(Saw some nice wildlife too... see pictures).

Found this one after waiting for the Muggles to clear. It seems most of the muggles in QLD were in the area this weekend!!
Manta seems to have forgotten to sign the log book! It is a shame that the other lookout north of here is closed. (why cant the Aussie government get some balls like the KIWIs and make it so no-one can sue!!?)
Great place. We will be starting our next walk from this place.

Found by Team Manta at 2.00pm this arvo after a slow start to the caching day. Didn't go for 'Animal Instincts' as, being the owner of the cache, I wasn't sure about the ethics of claiming it as a find (even though I would have to look for it like everyone else).
Thanks for the cache Rogainer; nice to get back to this area and will return to check out the new 4WD park on the way in.
