Have checked the location of this cache after the DNF and unfortunately it is gone. We are not replacing as this now seems to be a toy area and dead tree cache was at seems likely to fall over soon.

07-Oct-19
Searched and searched and searched. Even googled warratah. No luck. We think this one is a gone burger

04-Mar-19
Out having an evening stroll around the area ...we are staying close by so nipped in and quickly found the cache ...all good here signed and replaced as found..thanks Andy.gail for continuing to look after this cache

04-Mar-19
This poor bush reserve, along with everything else is really suffering and tinder dry. It would take nothing for the whole area to erupt in fire. We were very close by so carefully nipped in to find this. Thanks for the placement

17-Feb-19

Coords somehow had us on the other direction from the concrete structure but hint was helpful nad cache was soon at hand. Also discovered a toy right on the tree the cache was by. While I was logging in a biking family stopped by and claimed the toy - apparently there is something similar to the painted rocks thing going on but this time it's hidden toys! Has nothing to do with the cache though, it was probably just a coincidence that it was on the same tree.

out for a walk with the dog this morning and wanted to head somewhere new. This seemed like a good spot and after walking and admiring the Totora I made a quick find and sign. Thanks for the cache. Nice to grab another oldie.

Thanks to the CO this completes our Welcome to Nelson Caching challenge 2X10 in calendar month with a puzzle, MC, EC and greater than 2.5 D&T. It was hard to narrow it down to 10 cachers given how much we have enjoyed caching in the region so far, in the end it was a combination of criteria and proximity and today the final day was in Brightwater.
Cache was a quickfind and all in good order with plenty of log room left for future cachers, TFTC.

13-May-18
TregearP and I are working on a challenge that requires us to target two caches from 10 COs within a single month along with a couple of other criteria. We noted that we could pair this cache with one a couple of km away and a few others in the area to complete the qualifying criteria within the first half of the month.

A quick find at the final with all in good order. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache usakiwi.

08-May-18
Thanks. Right where it should be

Thanks geocache creator. Unfortunately all the paperwork in the geocache is fully wet.

04-Mar-18
a good find but log REALLY WET

27-Dec-17
Had to go past the fence to find. Rather disappointed by that fact.

27-Dec-17
Had to go behind the fence. Easy find Smile

25-Oct-17
After wandering around the adjacent churchyard for a multi, we then had to forego the find due to muggle activity. Never mind we will be back for it. Next on our list was this one and the vehicles were just leaving as we arrived. Left our bikes at the start of the track and wandered down towards GZ. Soon had cache in hand and signed log. tftc

02-Sep-17
Very easy

09-Aug-17
Nice spot for a walk despite the wet day, someone has taken the time to place beautifully painted rocks along the track as added interest. Left TB. TFTC.

15-Jul-17
Have lived in the district for 40 years, and never found a reason to visit this fantastic piece of forest. Sent several minutes wandering the paths admiring th giants before heading to the cache. Easy find from the clues once I remembered to trust my GPS, it knows north and south better than I do!

A weekend in Nelson with The Seagnoid, Toby and Zara. With Twin Rivers walkway behind us, its time to return to Toby, who is waiting by the bridge. This little bit of forest was a must to visit as I love trees. No tracks marked so we bush bashed and found the track. But still approached this from the wrong angle. But success finally, tagged and replaced. Cheers.

09-Jul-17
The map does not show any tracks in this bush, and I did not see any given the direct Taybeedragon and I approached, so we bushbashed in, coming to the track just a few metres from the cache.
Got visciously poked by a branch right where the orbit forms to the nose. Missed my eye by about 4 mm. Thank goodness for glasses!

Why Jo??

28-May-17
Easy find he he it was wrong about not having to go off the path but still tftc

24-May-17
Nice bit of bush, reasonably quick find. TFTC.

09-Mar-17
A straight forward find on a lovely fine day, combined with a walk in native bush.

24-Feb-17
First DNF whilst cycling the Great Taste Trail to Brightwater and back via the Twin Rivers Track. I spent all my 10 minutes search time scratching around all the trees for no smilie result. Sad I see now I shouldn't have crossed the fence![B)]

04-Jan-17
We'd been here many times years ago without ever realising there was a cache - fun to go back for a different purpose! TFTC

03-Dec-16
Out for a walk with 4 legs and snow flake. T4TC

02-Dec-16
Found it on the ground, have put back beside the tree with camo over top. TFTC

It was in a tree

10-Sep-16
Great spot. TFTC.

14-May-16
Easy find but the hint says not to go over the fence. We had to. Met a DOC guy who said it was ok to duck over carefully. On previous occasions he suspected drug dealing and almost called the cops. I would recommend changing the notebook, it is very damp.

07-May-16
Yay we found it Wink

14-Apr-16
Wow one of my favorite spots in my short caching career. Really enjoyed my walk through here.

#10396. Last of nine finds on a lunchtime bike ride to polish off the remaining Brightwater caches. This one took a little bit of finding because of the dodgy GPSr reception. TFTC.

13-Dec-15
Lovely bush area.

08-Dec-15
It was a beautiful day so we headed out for nice drive and to pick up a few caches. This was number four which lead us to a lovely reserve. Took us a while be eventually we got it. We did have to get over the fence. Thanks for the cache.

04-Dec-15
was fun to find because the gps was a little off in the trees, but was right where it is was suppose to be.

Today is the weekend, yay, seems to have been a long week in work this week. The plan was hatched to go over to Nelson and Richmond and at the same time our daughter was travelling down from the North Island as a surprise for mrs capperz so only a quick trip over the hill, and only a limited amount of caches to be found in that time. Oh well, there's always next week, and the one after etc etc. We were in town at about 9 in the morning so actually made the most of the time anyway. First up I dropped off the passengers in Nelson and cached my way back from Wakapuaka to town in 45 minutes. After that we were off to Richmond and I had Brightwater in my sights, or Bright Eyes if you will. Hmmmm, sounds like a song.
Heading back towards Richmond and picking some random caches as I go. Nice bit of bush here and after crossing the fence I made the find

Today was a driving day Smile
I was headed from Nelson, where I had enjoyed a couple of days cache chasing, to Saint Arnaud Razz
The big old campervan does not make highway caching easy, so I am stopping in the towns along the way to find caches Smile

First stop ... Brightwater Smile
Lovely name for a towne.
The cache prospects were bright too Big Grin

With a few finds already under me belt,
I headed into the forest.
Beautiful in here !!
Pity it is just a remnant of what once was Sad

A stroll around the paths eventually delivered me to GZ.
Where a quick cache find awaited Smile

17-May-15
A good walk today but very long arms could be needed. Finally found the cache.many thanks.

16-Apr-15
Today is a "onesy" day, in other words I have only ever found one cache on 16th April in all my years caching. I wanted to turn this sorry state of affairs into a "foursy" day (no prizes for guessing why Razz) and so hopped on my bike and headed for Brightwater. This is one of the few easily accessible nearby areas where there are still several caches for me to find Cool.
Luckily GZ is a short walk as cycling is not permitted in the reserve. My initial search area revealed nothing, but with the hint, headed several metres away where the cache was easily found. Picked up the TB. Always nice to find an older cache. TFTC.

25-Mar-15
good find, read apps

18-Mar-15
hints and previous logs made this a easy find
TFTC

04-Jan-15
Quick find. Thanks for the cache.

31-Dec-14
Fairly quick find with the help o the hints. TFTC

21-Nov-14
Given the D rating and the concerns about GPS coverage in the reserve, we had put off doing this one on previous visits to Brightwater. Concerns were unfounded though as the description and hints gave more than enough detail to track down the cache. I *did* have to put one leg over the fence though to reach the cache.

Thanks

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.

Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!

So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!

Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.

Consec caching day # 703

TFTC!! Smile

For the sake of sanity Wink we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!

Taking it a bit easy after yesterday’s big effort finding 153 caches Razz

We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!

Wet log is soft and hard to write on. We wasted a bit of time here complying too strictly with one instruction. Had almost given up when we found the cache. Pleasant in the bush on this hot afternoon. TFTC

Staying with family in Richmond whilst on Holiday (Mr G grew up here).
Out and about at night with Mrs G. Run over so it was time for a couple random driveby type caches. This one peaked our interest, not sure why. Interesting at night. Took a rather direct route in (being night we didn't spot the easier access) a systematic search soon netted the cache...then we exited and headed back to the car the easy way! Cheers.

Today I Went for the 100 caches in 1 day. With a very early morning and just breaking even at lunch time with 50, it looked like it was going to be 12am to 12pm. But after a move out of the city they started to speed up, and i managed to grab the last at 20:30 with 106!! Thanks everyone for the caches that they have placed, from the ones that have been planed for months to the park and grabs Smile
