Logs
Lovely. It's hard to find, but I looked at old logs for a hint. Found on r/h side o/side of cave.Coordinates were off as said around the back of the cave.Went on to the Gorge lookout. Lots of steps, but lovely view.
Found some further info after checking comments when we got back to phone signal but didn't find the cache this trip. Ah well, a good excuse to check back another time. ??
GPS was jumping from one spot to another so the find was quite difficult. Very small box and wet logbook, but still fine. TFTC
Found fairly quickly thanks to hints in previous logs. Downloaded GPS a bit jumpy but used my geosenses to make the find. Container is now a micro of the common variety . Thanks for bringing us to this amazing place
Great hike to get to this cave. Followed the GPS - which took us up. We got to a point where it was easier to keep going up than come back down the same way. So up we went and once at the top, we hiked sideways to the Gorge lookout. Being at the top we had excellent phone coverage where we took the time to read through some previous comments. Back down we headed - with a detour to Bloodwood Cave, then back over to slay the dragon. Geohubby came up with the goods as promised in previous logs. A rather irregular regular but finally found. TFTC (and the mountains goat experience!)
All I can say is thank goodness I came with a previous finder. But thats not always a guarantee of a smiley. I have to admit Id never have found it. Sneaky hide & my phone was saying 21m towards the top or into the rock at the back of the cave.A find is the best medicine for a dopey GPs
We're on our way back home to Brisbane, but there's always time to stop off for a cache. We stayed at the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat overnight to break up the journey. The cabins were basic but quite comfortable. The local birds took a bit of shine to Holly (and the apple she was trying to eat). The walk up to the Dragon Cave was lovely. We didn't see a soul and just soaked up the nature. The cache was quickly found before we walked to the Bloodwood Cave. I climbed up the million steps to the Gorge lookout whilst Sandy and the geomonsters walked back to the retreat (Holly wanted to play in the pool before it got dark).A smashing place.---Over a week ago we made a trip up to Yeppoon to visit family and some of the big things dotted around the state. On the way we stopped off at Noosa Heads (big pelican) and Maryborough before staying in Hervey Bay (big whales) for a couple of days to break up the journey. Whilst in Hervey Bay we went out on a glass bottomed boat and explored Big Woody Island and Round Island. Onwards again and we visited Childers, Gin Gin and got stuck in a crazy tailback a few kilometers from Miriam Vale (big crab, big donut and big Magpie). It would have been rude not to pick up a cache or two on our journey North. We visited Great Keppel and did some snorkeling (and Jack spotted a large sting ray), Emu Park to view the Singing Ship, Rockhampton (big bulls) to visit the zoo (which I wasn't too keen on) and just about every restaurant and coffee shop in Yeppoon. It's a lovely part of the world. On the way back home (boo) we visited the caves at Cania Gorge and stayed overnight at the retreat and then on to the Three Moons Silo Mural, Gayndah (big orange) and then onto the Bruce and straight back home.Thanks!!#3549
First look was unsuccessful as possible location was over thought. Also there is no telstra coverage at the cave.
Second visit was a success at finding and signing the log.
Thanks llourd

With our GPS signal bouncing everywhere and no phone signal, we were glad we had pre-read previous logs so knew we had to go about 3m up to the right outside and that we were now looking for a mint tin.
Found quickly and then took time to admire the cabe/overhang
TFTC and greetings from Tassie

AAAARRRGGGHHHH. What an experience! Even though I had downloaded offline data so I could navigate to this one, only the last two or three logs were accessible while on site. To cut a long story short .... I scrambled on top of the cave in search of this oldie, and precariously got myself back down once I realised there was nothing to be found up there. Nor should there be as that was just plain dangerous (and stupid of me!). I lost our team stamp on the bum slide return journey so if anyone finds it please contact me, I'd love to have it back. Just as well the cave was stunning otherwise I might be a bit cranky that I'd chosen to do this one over another awesome nature adventure not far up the road from here. Just fantastic views! Cant be sad about that at all - and we also visited the other cave site a very short walk away while in the area. Highly recommend this, even though its a DNF from us.
These tracks are getting busier. I thought the dragon was going to be much larger. Not sure why.. after reading a few logs I was on the right track.

Another day enjoying the walks in Cania with no one else around. The cave was very interesting, and the trees were "dripping blood". Cache found. TFTC
Finally catching up with my logging!*
An epic 3 week roadtrip up to Longreach/Winton and back to Brissy. ️️
We finally made it to Winton and now were on the homerun back to Brisbane! How magnificent is this place!!!?? We stayed at the Cania resort for a few days. I loved the big Cania Dam too. We saved these walks for our final day at Cania. Absoloutely loved this magical place.
This was a quick find for us. Replaced as found and away we went to explore more of Cania

Yesterday Dez(JezNDez) and I successfully completed a FTF walk out to the Castle Mountain Lookout covering some 25km on our journey there and back (including a few detours). On the way out we noted this cache was close by but decided to do the hard yards first and pick it up on the way back. At the time I had a sneaking suspicion that we would be in no fit state to bother visiting on the way back and so it proved. Terribly aching feet, that felt like only amputation would resolve the situation, put paid to any thoughts of visiting this, or any other cache in the area, today. Instead a well deserved swim and nanna nap were on the agenda for the rest of the afternoon with a promise to return today for the remaining caches.
We arrived in the carpark around 6.30am, but surprisingly not the first ones out here today (yesterday we had the place to ourselves when we arrived around 5am). Off we toddled, recovering some of the ground we had traipsed the day before, and soon arrived at GZ.
In preparation of our trip I had read some previous logs for this cache and despite the information garnered from this reading, we still spent a while hunting in places where the cache was not. After reading these logs again we eventually we zeroed in on the hiding spot and were able to add our name to the logbook. TFTC

We headed up here today because we like to hike, love caves and because this rather old geocache fills a spot on our Hidden Month calendar. Yet another find in a beautiful location.

Found two days ago, by fluke because the batteries died! But instructions made it easy.
A nice walk up to the cave. Enjoyed the view and sitting out of the heat getting my breath back. As I entered into the cave I saw another trail on the right going up. I knew that must be where GZ is. Tftc beautiful day
Sorry DNF. We had to keep on keeping on to get our treks done in a day.. looked for couple minutes and moved on.. next time MAYBE as been here and done.. very dry. Might come back after some rain in the area to see the difference it would make.
Found and logged. Geopartner found it with other loggers prior doing the 22km trail which ended up being 24km in the end.
Love the location and would have come here anyway but I need to ask what is with all the mint tins? Mint tins arghh!
Thanks llourd for the cache.

Fangsoki, Pprime, Crew153 and I were on a log weekend of adventure in and around Gladstone, concentrating mainly on the older caches.
We were quite keen to head here for this one. A nice walk to this one. As we neared, we did debate just where we needed to be to get to where the coords were pointing us. Well the title of the cache suggested the Dragon Cave, and on Crew153’s suggestion, we headed there. Still paying a little too much attention to where our phones/GPSs were putting us, Pprime and so turned this one into a little more that the T2.5 it should’ve been. With us searching higher than required, the other two started calling out asking us how far we were and having a bit of a giggle.
The cheeky ratbags!! They’d found it and thought it was a good laugh to let us suffer more.
Don’t go far up from cave. Head only a couple metres to the right along outside of cave wall.
With cache signed, we did wish we had brought a slightly better replacement with us, but this one will at least hold for the time being.
Then we began our return journey, where we were surprised to have met a dragon slayer in the form of a roughly 8 year old girl, heading up to the cave prepared for whatever she would come across. Safe hunting sweet girl.
Thanks for the cache llourd.

After an awesome long weekend adventure in Gladstone Region, along with Crew 153, 1MinnieMoo and Fangsoki, we are now heading homeward - via some more side trips. Mostly targeting older caches, and whatever else popped up on our radar. I have been curious about this one for a while, and felt it needed a visit. Well, I will have to come back as the area looks amazing and we did not have the time to see anything other than this spot. Which was fantastic in itself. Cache is an eclipse tin now, and is next to the cave - no need to scramble (or walk) up to the lookout (like I did).
Thanks llourd for entertaining me at this location.

Crew 153, Pprime, 1MinnieMoo and I rolled into the Cania area to grab a few caches. This was a "must" for me due to its age.
We enjoyed the walk into this one. Nothing too terrible. The stream near the carpark is amazing. It reminded me of streams in New Zealand. We wound our way toward GZ and soon arrived at the cave.
I am perplexed why not more people have favourite this cache. We took some time exploring the area before starting the hunt. Some "hunted" way too far away. I decided to look in more amicable spots matching the D/T and soon came up with the prize. Please note the cache is now a micro (mint tin).
After taunting my caching buddies, they soon realised I had the container in hand and signed it. I believe this is my last llourd cache to be found.
A great little hike and a great little area. TFTC llourd

A long weekend caching trip to Gladstone had been planned with 1MinnieMoo, Pprime and Fangsoki and a list of target caches had been prepared.
This was a cache which we had on the "must do" list for the weekend and we were not disappointed by the location. It is the first time I have been to the gorge and I found it breathtaking.
The walk to the cave was quite pleasant even with my tired body after a serious weekend of caching. We walked past the"shortcut" and we were contemplating taking the longer walk to the top but we came across another branch heading back to the cave and decided to check that out. We arrived at the cave and Pprime and 1MinnieMoo decided to check an area remote from the actual cave while Fangsoki and I remained below. On a whim, Fangsoki checked a couple of closer spots and came up with the cache and then taunted the others by tapping the mint tin on a rock.

We found the cave, but no cache for us. We had a decent explore around the scrub, but some areas are closed for regeneration. Fantastic view. We will be back
Pretty popular place here judging by the number of people we encountered on the trails. Only had time to do this one today but I’d love to come back and explore more. Thanks for the cache
One of the things I’ve had to get used to being married to Sybil is dragons. The pervasive chemical smell and occasional need to replace the roof of the sheds is something I’ve learned to live with. They can be soppy little things when they get older, like our house pet Dribble. Teeth worn down to burnt stumps and flame all but gone, he’s still useful to have around, like for when I need to light my cigars.
Bit of a scramble in the vines, couldn’t decide if they were a help or hindrance. Good result in the end. TFTC
Found with Dora the Explorer! As per previous comments, the cache is not a regular size.
After reading previous logs, we looked a little bit further afield and found it.
Thanks for showing us this place.

Had a good hunt around and after going a bit right of field, I found the goods.

Cache size is not regular, more like small (and minty!).
If you need another clue, the cache is not inside the cave.

Some caches elude me this is one of them had a few goes at it rain called it off this time
After I climbed to the top off the cliff... thinking this can’t be right... a quick find when I got back down
Eventually found after a little bit of scrambling around! Continued on the look out to catch the sunset as well
Nice little hide this one, took a scrabble to get in no muggles in sight tftc
Late afternoon we drove from the campground to the picnic area. Headed off but scared a Red-beloved black snake just near the bridge over the creek. Being g Ophidiophobic I was more scared that it!! Luckily that was the only wrighly thing seen on the way up and back. A reminder that the weather is warming up. Up to GZ. Thankfully we read Mick&Kaz's log so Mr T was able to find it without too much trouble. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
Quite an ominous name which was fitting because I got caught in some vines and had a real tough time. All in good fun though. Nice walk.
Muggles everywhere. Unable to get this one logged. Great walk and an awesome spot. Will have to come again out of school holidays.
We come to Cania Gorge every year around this time and alway find time for a couple of walks.
This caches has eluded us in the past. I am happy to finally log a found.

A wonderful place to be, this Cania Gorge. The walking tracks are fine and there are even caches hidden. This was one of them that was carefully hidden from the main stream. On this Sunday there were quite some walking about but we managed to log our visit unnoticed. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.
Staying a few days in the area so caching was on our list of things to do
That is of course as well as admiring the scenery
Located after a short climb
cache tucked away from prying eyes

I have noticed this cache has gone missing so while up here doing some caching I decided to replace this cache with a new one for the owner.
The cache now is a eclipse container with a small pencil and log.
The hint would be. In crack ledge along right side rock face .
The co ods are the same as the ordinal so should be easy to find.

Went there twice today, am and pm. The first time was to the listed coord and the second at the coords from 20 logs or so ago. Spent over an hour scratching around with no luck. Thanks anyway
Couldn't find this one today
After reading the previous logs (lots of DNF's) and even more searching, we decided to give up and let some other randoms have some time to themselves in the cave.
---
Probably needs to be looked at by the owner and maybe replaced with a new cache container.

Another DNF today, if the gps was correct the gx was out of reach, the track was heavily overgrown and unsafe. Pity the TB may be lost to this one
Having seen all the DNFs on this cache we contacted a previous finder who gave us the heads up where he found it. Armed with this inside information we were quite hopeful at finding this cache. However, once at GZ it became clear that there's been a lot of water pouring down here recently, washing away many rocks. We had a good hunt around but came up empty handed. Wondering whether the cache is a victim of the deluge? Perhaps the CO could check up on this one as it would be sad to lose a cache in the National Park .

DNF of us – gave it a good go but I think the terrain has change around here since the cache was laid – I hope to return & give it another go.
Read the previous logs and thought I'd give it a go. Unfortunately there are many, many rocks and possible hidey spots along the track and today was not our day for success!
This one took a fair bit of scrambling to find but GeoAJ made it in the end. There were lots of prickly bits to pick off his clothes after he got back down to the track. TFTC
This one eluded us unfortunately. We spent about an hour looking, then moved on to the lookout up the track a bit, then came back for a second go, but alas no cigar this time. Having read through some of the older logs once we got home, it now seems like we were looking on the wrong side of the track (20/20 hindsight !!!). We loved the area so much that I'm sure we'll visit again, and hopefully have better success next time. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and The Princess.
Find this morning with lieberandi. We have loved all these walks in the Cania Area, we look forward to coming back again another time and finding those we haven't had the time to seek this trip. TFTC!
Another find for the Crosby Crew and us this morning. 'Captain Terror' has it well described, start looking about 20m before the cave
This was my third for the day and the weather was starting to warm up. Thanks to others for their hints in their logs I was able to find this one quickly and easily. However I was nearly sprung when some muggles came up the track just as I was stepping back onto it. Loved the cave. However could not find a Tb so I left a really appropriate one. Hope it gets found again soon so it doesn't sit there too long. TFTC TNLTB SL
Found on trip Sydney to Bundaberg via western Queensland. Found quickly by geofriend. She might be a natural. TFTC
This was possibly the hardest cache for me to find in all of Cania Gorge. I certainly made it far more than a Difficulty 1.5 as listed. Having done a walk already, I refilled my camelback and set off down the track towards this cache and another. It was now the middle of the day and probably 40 degrees or so with a fair hike ahead of me.
The start of the walk from the carpark was pretty gross. No cover from the sun, I could almost feel exposed skin burning. Although I did still stop at the creek for a look at the broken bridge and to watch a few small fish. I pressed on and was a happy chappy when the track disappeared into the trees. Oh shade, how good you feel!
I got to the junction and decided to turn right towards this cache. Again across a small bridge over a dry creek and following the bendy trail. I am glad it was relatively flat and despite sweating and drinking profusely, found myself at the cache site pretty quickly. I thought there might be a bush bash segment here, but the track does double back and leads right to the cave.
I imagine that sandstone offers many caves and I question why this one is such a viewpoint of the park. It took me much squinting and head tilting to see the 'dragon' - I guess someone has a better imagination than I do. I guess it is a pretty and magnificent cave and now I know the colour of Dragon Blood.
Onto the cache, seeing as nobody was around. My GPSr was of minimal use here. With so many towering rocks around, the best I could get was about 40m accuracy and some galactic bounce. The age and Terrain rating of the cache were the best clues I had as none of the past 5 logs had much of a hint and the description wasn't clicking with me.
I started in the cave. No cache. Down the old track. Not there. Up the side of the rocks. Wasn't sure, but didn't want to risk life and limb. I started climbing another section near the front of the cave towards a hole. It was fun and a stretch but no cache. As I sat there, muggles appeared. So I waited as they took photos. I looked along another narrow ledge. Can't see it. I headed to the right up a worn patch, can't see anything likely there. I was getting towards giving up which was a heartbreaker on a cache after a decent walk in the heat and so far from home. I started just looking around and vaguely headed back.
Then I spotted it!
Oh, bless my sweaty socks! I headed over and sure enough, the cache was hidden there, under a pile of rocks where the GPSr reception was a bit better (but still pretty useless). Not to mention, much easier to access than the caves I had been climbing up to. Inside all was in good condition and I made sure it was rehidden well. In light of GPS reception being terrible, I noted the cache is along the track, about 30m before you get to the cave entrance.
I was a very happy laddy once more to have it found and dusted and so headed back towards the junction again at a jog, ready to find the next cache. A great spot in this glorious part of the world to visit. TFTC llourd

Thanks to previous logs, found no worries. Reminds me rather of geocaching before I owned a GPS! TFTC
This was the last attempted cache during our stay, went late in the day to avoid people and heat, but GPS and phone left behind due to some idiot deleting a pocket query, continued on anyway and trusted to memory of description and logs. Found it hiding away and off to the bloodwood cave we go.
Arrived early in the morning with only one muggle wagon around. We were expecting it to be packed for the last day of the school hols but soon remembered that was back in WA time. Headed off, saw lots of King Parrots. Gee, they are so beautiful and such showoffs. Thanx to the logs of others (read them ALL for good hints) the cache was easy to find but would have been difficult otherwise. Enjoyed the cave and the dragon and the walk a lot. Very cool that time of day. As we got back to the carpark a kookaburra was sitting in the old gum tree...sorry, couldn't resist... but true. Got 2 photos and as he looked straight at the camera in his best pose the camera went dead flat. Off I went to get more batteries, got back and he was gone. But I could hear him laughing all the way home. Laughing Jackass. Had a great time here, must come back to do more. Took towelette and left pathtag. TFTC
Still having a wonderful holiday at Cania Gorge Big 4 caravan park. Enjoying the bush walks of an afternoon. Spreading them out over the week that we are here so as not to wear out the geokids (well, my excuse anyway..........). So, today was the day to go dragon hunting! A quick walk up to the dragons lair and as everyone else had found the GPSr was all over the shop. Thanks to the many clues geoson was hot on the trail of an elusive dragon and soon came up with the goods. Not before we had to take some evasive 'oh look, there's the dragon there, can you see him kids' muggle action. Patience pays off, muggles depart and it's back to the cache. Quick sign of the log, left angel pin, took pearl and returned to GZ before next round of muggles arrived. TFTC llourd.

This was a difficult one to find as GZ was definitely the cave but I could not see how a geocache could be located here as it was muggle territory. After looking around the cave and going back on the track it was then that the cache was spotted. The more accurate coodinates are given by 1957chev his log below.
