This is a great location with fantastic views; well worth the walk up the steep fire trail.

Looks like a popular spot for geowombats. Took lots of piccies around dusk on Australia Day 2006, and carried out lots of prickles in our socks.

We also discovered that if you're lazy, there's now an even easier way than the fire trail - a walkway from Sawicki Place. There's even a new spot to sit and look over the Southern suburbs at 35d 27.867'S 149d 4.793'E.

What a pity that the cache has disappeared - wonder what happened to the Travel Bug? Hope you can get the cache re-established Derek; say g'day to your folks from an old friend.

Thanks,

E & M

Hi. I'm sorry to say that the cahe "All Quiet On The Southern Front" will have to be disabled for a while, because I was gone when I checked on it at the weekend(28/8/05). I'll try to reactivate this cache, but it'll take some time, as I'll have to replace it and I don't really have alot of spare time at the moment. Sorry for the inconveiniance.

Just zipping this TB thru the cache before it heads back to the USA

A great afternoon after a very foggy morning! A nice find with a great view.

We left the GeoCorp America Pin, purple rubber and dragon clip and took yellow soft toy and quartz cystal (we are budding geologists after all).

Cheers and thanks for the fun!

Also...why are all the Currajong trees growing here with not a limesone in sight????????

wow. I can't believe how much my cache is visited. i placed the cache about a year ago for my compulsory "winter project" at school. it is really amazing from the logs the number of people that have shared different experiences in the beautful location of my cache. I have now moved to the estate which the cache backs, so a short walk, and i can visit it more often.

keep caching!!

Nice easy one to do with the Geokiddies. Didn't see the TB in there someoneelse must have taken it before us or need to open our eyes more.

Kids T Pen, Australian Flag Sticker, Koala
L Neopet, Gorrilla, Pinball game and whistle.

What a top spot. It's a subtly beautiful view of the Brindies and the 'Bidgee - and only a few kms from my home.
Took nothing, left a small quartz crystal, reflective of the peace I felt here.

I amanged to get two quick snaps off before my camera battery went f'tang.

Took a couple of friends on this one to show them what caching is all about. Watch out on the rocks as my wife slipped with daughter in hand.

Second for the day. Drove most of the way which was nice as we had most of the family. No TB in sight though the views were fantastic. Agreee with Kiwijam, location for hiding spot was great.

Had no clues or information, just a waypoint on my GPS. Parked close by, and then spiralled out from GZ to find it. Most impressed with hiding place, if only more such locations could be found! Was hoping to get GG TB (been following for a little while), but no sign of it here.

23-Apr-05
We found the fire trail, but I didn't like my chances of getting my poor GEO-Hyundai up the hill, so we walked it. Looked straight at the location at least twice before it was spotted, nice hide.

T Canadian Defence Keyring
L Bars Keyring

This is the second cache I have visted after Littleamerica has put a TB into it to find that the TB was not there?

23-Apr-05
A bit of a climb up to the GZ and then a bit of a hunt.

I wasn't able to find the road access to the area around this cache, so I ended up climbing up through a vacant lot.

Left the Wavy Daisy M travel bug.

I agree the view was more that I was expecting. On the other hand finding the cache itself proved harder that I expected. After fixing the mistake I made when entering the coords into the GPSr (which put be over 20m away) I finally found the right area. Then I must have looked right where the cache is and didn't see it. It was at least 10 minutes or more before looking again to find it. Took a TB, otherwise no swaps. i

Found this one easy, good views. Took earrings left soft toy. Thanks Bayleyteam. Regards Philma and Geo-Cheese and Kisses.

Nice view (away from the stampeding suburbs...)

Took TB to place tomorrow, left flag sticker & keyring.

05-Feb-05
Enjoyed the search, especially seeing the kangaroos on the way up. For a couple of Canadians it was a very unique experience! Left military key chain and Canada pin.

26-Jan-05
Found it with the help of my junior geocacher daughter. Took star note pad, left travel bug 208192.

24-Jan-05
a nice short climb to get a great view.

24-Jan-05
Found with frogdude at about 7.20pm!

This was our second attempt for this cache. Lovely view, but lots of prickly bushes.

Couldn't resist taking kiwilamb TB! Might take this for a bit of sightseeing, before leaving it for someone to take to New Zealand.

Took: Police car
Left: Shell tortoise from WA.

22-Jan-05
Dispersed a mob and if you know anything about mobs you always know they are angry. Did all the caching stuff then meet Harry the dog who was a happy little chap.
Seems the Mac Mansions have extended to the ACT, which got us thinking about how long before all those hills towards the city will have houses on them instead of caches.

28-Dec-04
Found by Mary & David at 1440. Great views to the horizon but oh those flies! Took surfboard key ring, left coaster from France and a karma card. Our thanks to Bayleyteam.

10-Dec-04
Nice view! You can see all the way to black mountain from here.
Nice use of the locality for the hide. Had me looking for at least 10 mins.

Took the donkey doll and left a key chain.

Just happened to be down this way on the hunt for A-Z. Quietly, between you and me. I think I'll be a few other places in Canberra before the months out Wink

04-Dec-04
Finally found it! Now all the cryptic log comments make sense Wink

Took fish stickers, left police car. Thanks bayleyteam!

Went to pick up some friends to go do "Anagram of CORK" and decided to throw all the nearest ones into the GPS as well. Found the friends house was only 1.2Kms from a cache, so went to find it. Found it was this one. Nice hiding spot. Looks like we aren't the only ones who had given another nearby spot a good searching first. Left a Shrek Donkey, took a rubber ball.
Thanks from Super-T and family, and friends

I spent a good 15 minutes searching an area about 10m by 10m and found no sign of the cache. As this is only the second I've ever looke for, I may have missed it, but unless it was buried underground our in the top of the tree, I couldn't find it.

08-Oct-04
After "International $ Exchange" this was an welcome, easier trip up [^] particularly as we navigated the car to as close as we could get (<200m)...A magnificent 180deg view to be had once there. Took police badge, Left Shrek pen.

Sad Unable to locate cache - hunger pains of my 4 year old partner prevailed and we went in search of lunch instead.

The area looks well travelled and used judging by the amount of empty alcohol bottles, cans, adult magazines and dirt bike ramps. -- Caution if you have young adventurers with you --

Will return for a more thorough search when time/weather permits.

14-Aug-04
Another quick one, no roos though spectacular views, might go on to Tidbinbilla, left stickers and glue

14-Aug-04
The Wiff and I had the day off so after breakfast at TOSOLINI'S, then a film followed by a late lunch, a late afternoon climb to our first cache was just the ticket. Loved the hiding spot D, good choice.

09-Aug-04
Dropped off Tobi (446118).

08-Aug-04
Ahhhh tried for nearly an hour with my 6 year old daughter (she got very dissapointed) but after looking at the Logs Ill try again when I take the Dog for a walk in the morning - only 700m from my house. n

08-Aug-04
A good quick walk from the car about 120 m away! Had to skirt around a mob of roos but discovered they were actually guarding the cache! A great hiding spot and great views.

07-Aug-04
Was intending to do this cache soon, and an email from Chee Seng prompted me to go today. She was given a travel bug in California, and being new to Geocaching, wanted help in relocating it in Canberra.

Of course, finding this cache was not one of my finest hours (actually about 45 minutes). The cache was in an obvious spot, but could I find it? [B)]

Lucky I restored faith in my reputation by locating it, shortly before mtbikeroz appeared (who I called for help).

Great views and amazing houses being built nearby. Great first off cache bayleyteam, and hopefully we'll see Chee Seng wandering around Canberra with a GPSr in the future.

Yes, after a call from Spindoc Bob, rushed up there as I was close by. They had found it by then, so I wandered off while they re-hid it. I came back and found it immediately. GREAT hiding spot. Took the TB, left nothing.
Have ridden my MTB up here many times, including up the fire trail!!!. (no bike this time though).

31-Jul-04
What a great spot. The views were awesome and so was the hiding place. We stayed for a while and soaked up the views and the warm sunshine. I hope you will be putting more caches like this one out. Took the car keyring and left Travel Bug 'Fire Survivor'. Many thanks.

31-Jul-04
Great views from the cache, we could see several other cahes from here.

Looked in the hiding spot as soon as we arrived at GZ, but disregarded it and continued to look elsewhere, however something drew Mrs S back to the spot and after a better look she found it. Great hiding spot.

Took Fire Survivor TB, the grass here looked to inviting for it's reputation also took the little dog and left a green monster that we collected from lonely cache.

Thanks Derek and the Bayley Team.

I tried to find this while it was still virgin, but couldn't locate it after quite a while of looking.

26-Jul-04
Had a day off today, and what a nice way to wake up – two brand new Geocaches in town! I had a few other commitments, but after that there was no wasting of time to get to the caches! As promised the views were great. I couldn’t find the access to the fire trail, but managed to find some stairs leading up the hill instead. Once at ground zero, it didn’t take me long to find the cache. But it did take a while to figure out how to get it out of there! Excellently hidden! Managed to remove it, and swapped TicTacs for a snake. Now for the challenge to get it back in (quite easy once you realise it can only go one way). – I think that this cache may need a ziplock bag for the notebook, and it also needs a “Geocaching Info†sheet…
Thanks Bayleyteam for a great cache.

GRRR - That's in my "backyard" and you had to have a day off. GGGRRRRRRRRRR. Did you see my calling card scratched into the concrete (when it was wet) in the photo "Not far now..."?
