The geocaching goals for TaurusSix and I today was as much about placing new caches out there as it was about finding existing caches. It was a beautiful spring day , perfect to be out there exploring , walking and of course geocaching. We decided to head out the back of Brunswick Junction and Harvey , including the Harvey Dam area. Many of the tracks we took were quite muddy from the winter rains and a few even impassable which required doubling back . All in all a very enjoyable day out in the country.

This was our third cache find for the day. We collected after finding the nearby Grandads Log. We continued the walk from there to this gz. The bush was alive in the best way all we could hear and smell was the bush. Butterflies, birds and wildflowers were everywhere. As we neared the actual gz we could really hear the creek running too , perfect bush location and finding the cache was a bonus. Thanks for the cache TEAM LANDCRUISER and it gets a favourite point from us.

Out today with C10 sorting out some caches from Armadale to Bunbury that have been on the radar.

The main goal was the cache at Nagna Hill Cache 18, a 2002 published cache which is one of the oldest 100 still active in Australia.

Was a great day out with a dozen or so finds, many from the 2004 era.

Thanks for the fun.

We were surprised to find only a couple of campers in the campground compared to how busy it was only a short distance away at Lake Brockman. Enjoyed the walk and easily found the two caches. Also bonus of finding such a aged cache.

Tftc team landcruiser was staying at lake brockman with my wife and daughter and ventured out to hoffman mill for a look and we continued along the road and i jumped out and headed down the side of the hill and found the cache. It was easier getting back as i found a track which i guess then led to the old railway line and then just a short stroll throught the bush back to the car. Beautiful area. Cache 1121 for me in 370 days

We hadn't intended to go bush this weekend but ended up in the back of Brunswick enjoying an overnight campsite with family. From there the natural progression was to head north for a couple of FTF's. This one just happened to be on the way. It was great to find a genuine regular sized cache and it's very well maintained as well. TFTC

A quick find and all signed then backtacked through bush to car Smile.

Then headed to camping area for a bbq late lunch. So love it here and we try and make a point of coming here for a bbq at least 2/3 times a year Big Grin. So beautiful and peaceful and flushing loos go down a treat too Smile

After finding the nearby cache we returned to the track that we had come in by and then walked along the trail to this cache. Found the cache without problems and then walked back to where we had left the car by the trails.

Thanks for the cache.

Out exploring the area with our kids today we decided to head for this cache after finding the other not to far from here... We did head to the cache the way it was intended Razz but still we enjoyed our walk through the bushland... We even found an old log bridge to cross the creek [^]

Once close to GZ, we spotted the obvious place for a cache and sent 4yo DangerMouse09 in for a closer inspection... Excitement soon showed on his face as he loves ammo tins! TFTC TEAM LANDCRUISER. Loved our little adventure to this one Big Grin Cache is in good condition and well stocked too.

31-Mar-13
What a cracker! Came at it from through the bush. Found the trail by crossing a little creek, then still had to go into more bush to find it. So nice to get one that isn't just a few metres off the trail. Good hunt, everybody gave kudos for that one. Pretty sure I left a trackable, could have been another close by.

12-Mar-13
Hoffman's Mill is such a great spot and Gypsy Roaming and I enjoyed learning the history of the area.
The bird life is bountiful, the trees are majestic, the walks are very enjoyable with the bonus of apricots and figs from the old fruit trees. A fav from me.

Nice bushwalk after we set up camp for the night. Beautiful campsite for ourselves! Cache was easily found and in good condition. Only hazard were the pesky March flies but we managed. TFTC Team Landcruiser. Not sure if you have been here recently yourself but I would say the terrain rating is a bit underrated but it was do-able and a nice walk.

Certainly got our exercise finding this cache. Delightful walk, orchids in bloom, brook flowing with crystal clear water. The rain held off whilst we looked for the cache, but it took longer than we anticipated. Went cross country to retrieve it and got drowned in the process. No-one told us to bring our wetsuits! Took pen, left Monsters Inc book. TFTC

Almost looked on the wrong side of the river for this one! Took a few minutes to crash my way through to the cache, only realising after signing the log, that there were less bushes a few metres further up the path. TN LN, TFTC.

20-Apr-09
Seemed to find lots of currugated roads - had our share today. We found the cache without any problem. Thanks TEAM LANDCRUISER

16-Nov-08
Black Swans found it this arvo... we were going to camp at the old mill site, but too many monster bitey flies and we were a bit tired from last night's noisy drunk camp neighbours at Charlie's Flat in Lane Poole...so decided instead to hoof it home to Kardinya, drink a drop or two and rest our heads in our own beds.

Seems this cache has caused some trouble in the past...coordinates off, bridges out, GPSr going wacky, etc.

We did find coordinates about 13-15 m out and marked the cache at:
S33 00.606
E116 05.319

Yes, our GPSr did hunt a bit, but found it no worries in the end.

Yes (if you've gotten the recommended trail from the northern-most point near the picnic ground) cross the bridge first. Bridge is in good order as of today. And yes, cache is out there in the prickles- so go get it! Warm day, no joe blakes about just a few tickety-ticks!

Cheers!

I didn'y realize this cache was unavaible but found it anyway. It was easy to find and we didn't need clue to find it. So it's still where you put it.
Thanks

17-Feb-08
Sounds like something maybe up here, two experienced teams missing what was an easy cache. Should be down here again shortly.

17-Feb-08
It looks to me as the cache area has undergone some ecological change. The bush is super thick, there are fallen trees and the floor appears to be combination of leaves and (maybe)a shifted river bed.

This cache really needs a revisit - I fear it may have been drowned, moved or buried under leaf litter.

It may be worth a temp disable.

I think we must be losing it - we got to within 19 metres of the cache GPS reception was bad thought the old bridge looked obvious but no luck - the cache was somewhere over there in those briars!! LOL... Since it was pretty warm and we had left the old Geoterrier sitting back at the Jeep we decided to retreat. ekkk....

We will return!!! Better hone our skills before attempting Just crusin - which was what we had intended to do on this trip down.

It was a pleasant day for driving and approached on other side of the creek. Couldn’t find a bridge to access to the other side of the creek. Ended up driving around to other side. A nice and easy find. Lots of nice goodies in the cache. After that, went to Hoffman Mill – nice campsites. Unfortunately they are closed for the season. Thanks TLC for the cache.

Really nice spot, with a real sense of the history of the place. Good spot for the cache, but the coords are a little out. Took the 'wild bush' route straight back to the parking area for some variety.

After a DNF sometime ago and constant nagging from the Geogrommets we got back to this one today. We had thought it was in its location but when we were here last time it was the height of summer and the Geomum was a little concerned about Geosnakes attaching themselves to Geogrommets legs.

Hoffmans Mill is certainly different this time of the year. Would like to camp here this time of the year but signs prohibit it.

T: Wombat and Toy Car
L: Dog Tennis Ball and Action Hero Toy type thingo.

Thanks Team Landcruiser for the hunt. Look forward to seeing you guys out and about soon.

My destination for the night. Camped here (second time). After setting up camp, headed off to find the cache, which I did with some trouble at 6:02 PM. I estimate that the coordinates are out by about 10 metres. Have posted the coordinates I got for the cache. As it was getting towards dark and I hadn't done dinner, I didn't finish the walk trail, so will go back to do that. While there is a charge for camping here ($10 for 1-2 people), I didn't see a sole so had a free night. Back to the cache. Took fun stickers and left 3rd arm. Thanks TLC for the hunt.

14-Jan-05
A little tricky to find the start of the trail (The campsite info point has a map, but it is unreadable), but wandered around for a bit and found it. The cache was a good 20m from where the GPS first took me, but then it seemed to give me a better reading. Picked up the Geocoin, dropped of a clip-on kangaroo to look after the Koala.

Somebody mentioned in a log that you can't camp after Nov 1st, which is incorrect - the camping is open from Nov 1st to Easter. The campsite is huge, but when I was there, there was just one person camping.

21-Sep-04
We found it using the new coodinates and they were close enough for us to have no problems at all. What can we say. great Campsite, great bush walk, Great cache. We will add this campsite to our list of future weekends away. We did notice you arnt allowed to camp here after November 1st each year, possibly because of fire risks. We added a clip on Koala bear for your rear view mirror and took the pig magnet. We also dropped the Geocoin in that we had collected earlier from "Private beach" cache.

18-Sep-04
Took the Explorer Team bush for a nice drive and a pleasant walk. Camped here back in the 80's and remember getting rained on heavily and getting a bit damp in the old 2 "man" tent when doing the Enduro thing. Great Spot.

Cheers

[The GPS led me across the creek, but there was no cache to be found. I had left the cache detail sheet in the car (220 mtrs away), and decided to go back for it. After crossing the creek on the way back I decided to check again and found it without to much trouble, though the GPS still read 20 mtrs away. The tree canopy is pretty dense around here, so I will add in a spoiler - ]the cache is on the west side of the creek. Cache coordinates found are S33 0.604, E116 05.319. [We had driven through this area only about a month ago, but we didn't stop. It's very tranquil here (especially at the creek crossing) I may just come back here for a weekend break from Perth. Thanks to TLC for a great cache, in a great spot.]

FTF this at 13.35 hrs, but it took an hour or so of searching! Didn't know there could be that many burnt, hollow trees within such a small area! Our GPS seemed to be15 m or so out, and indicated the other side of the stream. The search was worth it though, and we are glad we didn't give up. Beautiful area to visit, and cache is well set up. Thanks again TLC.
