I gazed upon this logbook a very long time ago. It didn't occur to me to sign it as a noob, but I now know that the most important thing is increase one's smiley count wherever possible. Thanks geofreak for placing the original cache and initiating the curious course of events that led to me signing the log!
After working this out yesterday (thanks for steering me in a direction CO) I decided to take Campbell to grab this after we had a hit of cricket in the nets of the local cricket club. The sun was shining and there was plenty of fauna and flora to see as we made our way to GZ, only to realise after a 10 minute search some clown (I wont name myself) put in the wrong co ords, dyslexia struck me down today!!
A good walk of another 400 meters soon had us at the GZ proper and we located the cache. Woohoo a bonus inside which we signed!! Campbell wanted to take the TB so we grabbed that and will take it for an adventure too.
Thanks for the cache geofreak!!!

Find #1170. Found the log book @ 17:30 with eldest geocachelette.
We found a different cache and on opening the container we found an unexpected bonus, the log for this cache (which I decided to sign and claim the find). The log was found about 48.66 kms from GZ.
Signed log(s) and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the bonus cache geofreak (and hide day1976).

Find # 3297
Streak: 64 days
A day off work today sick, but I still needed to find a cache to continue the streak of madness. I had solved this one back in December but was too far away for ftf, so left it for my cache a day plans. From where I parked, it was about a 2.5km walk to gz, a pleasant afternoon, nice to get some sunshine. Once at gz, the cache was quickly located. Is this a 2 for 1 cache? Technically I have found it as well
Thanks to day1976 for the first cache.
Thanks to geofreak for the old cache. TNLN

Found the old logbook whilst visiting another geocache, so recorded my visit in it too.
Cache owner has been on line a number of times since I have contacted him with options on what to do with this cache. I have had no reply. I can't see any point in putting a throw down container in a place that is extremely unaccessible and has no views any more.
No response from owner. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness. If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require.
Can a reviewer please disable this cache. The container is not in place with the last finder removing the damaged cache.
I really enjoy doing these caches! Whilst finding a lot of caches in one day is great, and trying to get FTF and the more difficult caches are enjoyable aswell I really get a kick out of trying for the long time unfound caches. The ones that other have left for dead. This is my fourth attempt at a long time unfound cache (The other Three are Rachel's Rest (DNF), Prime Real Estate (FOUND!) and The Killing Fields (DNF). Obviously when I set out for one of these I do not hold out too much hope of getting it, but I go anyway.
When I set myself this one as a goal about a month ago, I wassure that what I would be up against would be very thick Australian bush, and I was right. It didn't help that it was pouring rain, 6 degrees and I had the beginnings of a cold starting either. I packed my geocachig bag with everything I usually take, plus some extra items which I figured might be handy on this quest. I took the Subaru because it is AWD, rather than the old ute which tends to slip around alot in muddy hilly tracks, which I knew was going to be involved. Also, at the last minute I packed the chainsaw, just in case any trees had come down over the track in the last few days as there had been some wild weather in the hills of late. Also took the dry-az-a-bone and the akubra as well as full length clothing and gloves to try an keep the leeches at bay and salt for the times they still found their way in. I wasn't worried about snakes at this time of the year as they should be all hibernating deep under ground.
It turns out the chainsaw was useful as there was one point were a branch was blocking my way in. I could possibly have got around it at a pinch without using the chainsaw, but as I had one, I figured, why not? I finally arrived at the part of the road closest to the cache and my position was reading 100 meters away from the actual cache. I took a look up the hill to where the GPS is pointing and took a deep breath. The bush is very thick up the hill and I wondered 50 meters up and down the road, trying to find a likely entrance where I could start some bush bashing. I finally settled on a spot and in I went, pushing a path through the undergrowth and sapplings I worked my way very slowly up the hill. The idea of going back to the car to get the chainsaw did cross my mind a number of times because it would have made progress a lot easier, however I really figured it wasn't within the geocaching code of conduct. A few times I stopped to try and get my bearings with the GPS but it could not locate any satelites. The sky was very cloudy, it was pouring with rain and above me the top of the sapplings were blocking any reception that I might have been able to get. After about an hour I got to a ridge and I was able to get a weak signal, that at the right time turned into a strong signal and pointed me in the right direction.
Finally I figured I was at or pretty close to GZ. I tried to imagine the area and what it would have been liked when Geofreak hid the cache and I began systematically searching likely hiding spots in about a 15 meter radius. The rain was belting down again and the GPS was back to bouncing around so I put it away and just kept searching until...BINGO!
Unfortunately the cache was utterly destroyed. The lid was cracked, it was leaking and was full of water. The zip bag was disintergrating and the log book was completely saturated. There was mould growing on the lid of the cache too. Inside, most of the swaps were still good but there was no way I could leave this cache in this condition.
I have taken the cache for repair and I will contact the CO and see if he would like me to re-hide it where it was (which will definitly require a change in the D/T rating) or if he would like me to re-hide it elsewhere. In the mean time, don't bother looking for this one, it's not there.

Went to get this one today but the bush is so dense so couldn't do it I had the kids with me will try again another day maybe
Got within 10m of GZ when there was a cry of "SNAKE", will come back and try this one another day.
Mission aborted after a "SNAKE" was spot in the company of Sevillegroup, will come back and try this one another day.
It.s been 2 months to the day since I found my last cache, with work and painting, I have not had a chance to get out.
Found at 1405 hours, parked within 90 metres of GZ, bush bashed for about 30 metres, then found a track, then bush bashed for another 20 metres to GZ. No views at GZ but when your on the track the views are great.

god knows how but i found it 100m of thick bush no track to be seen or view at that but its still there always like a a walk in the bush TNLN SL T4TH (log was a bit damp)
I have to agree with Facitman and Rhino, the regeneration here makes the cache quite difficult to access, but the views are rewarding. There is a simpler track that gets you close to the cache, I hope one of the other lads took coordinates for it!
Thanks Geofreak,

Isn't regeneration grand!
The logging is a few years ago now and the bush is fighting back. The three of us parked at a suitably close point on the road and then headed up hill to GZ, we needed to be mindful of the way in to this cache as the bush was quite thick in parts. Finally arrived at GZ and Rhinogeo spotted the cache quickly.
TNLN
Thanks geofreak, I fear the view will not last much longer!

Found 200711251328 . Facitman, Team Rubik and I were expecting something different (mainly because we hadn't read the previous logs [:p]) but bush-bashed our way to GZ for a straightforward find
I reckon the terrain rating could be raised a bit due to the thick vegetation
TNLN
Cheers Geofreak

Parked close to gz and then hoofed it. The vegetation was easy enough and then thickened about 20m from gz. It was still not hard though and once at gz the cache was in the first place I looked thanks to very good coordinates. Another few years may make access interesting though! Thanks geofreak for the cache, and the view wasn't too mad this morning either.
Realy enjoyed this cache, in some ways it is great to have an impenetrable thicket of acacia throughout the logging coupe. I have never realy walked through one and had a close look so was pleasantly supprised about the extent of revege. Sure is nothing as good as it was, but i suppose we all need wood. ANyways specky cache! Thanks for bringing me here! TNLN
Well, I think acts2youthgroup's prediction has come to fruition. I have no idea how I drove up the road with all the fallen trees, how I found my way to GZ without a machete, how I survived the slip and fall on the big rock (ouch), how I found the cache, or how I made it back to the car (even though I had waypointed it) but I did all that and logged the cache at 14:10. A mighty tough one!!
TNLNSL. Thanks geofreak and Happy New Year to Loggers Lookout!

Our last cache for the day and we were really fortunate as we pulled up at this one just on sunset, climbed up to GZ and watched the sunset slowly settle behind the distant mountains, having smoke rolling through the valleys turned it into a vivid red & purple spectacle. The cache was found easily and in good condition. We agree with ActsTwo comments about the regrowth it's regenerating very quickly

Easy find with good view. Lid had popped open so water was drained and contets dried before being replaced.

A nice easy cache with a great view. I think this cache will be quite hard to get to in another year as the under growth is starting to grow back very rapidly. Thanks Geo freak.
Found by Mary & David at 1340. Amazing to see how the bush can regenerate to cover the scars - the slopes further down the road are covered with very densely packed young trees. The area around the cache will probably be like that in a couple more years. Meanwhile, the views are great. Took koala badge, left sparkling nail polish. Our thanks once more to geofreak.
Found at 2:30pm by myself ahead of Muzza and Kiwideb. When we drove up to this location we were able to park the car about 100m away from the cache, nice! The rain that we had experience at other caches in the day had let up as well, but I thought I would put on the waterproof jacket and pants just to be sure. Muzza and Deb thought the jacket was all they needed. So anyway we walked up, noticing the smell of burnt bush still in the air, and began our search. Due to bad satellite coverage and cloud cover the GPS accuracy wasn't anything we could rely on for a quick find. Then came the rain, it didn't ease its way in, it just came down - glad I've got the waterproof gear on, what about you Muzza and Deb . It took about 5 minutes for me to spot the obvious location and due to the heavy rain the log was marked with minimal markings: my name and the date in orange pen, Muzza's stamp and Kiwideb's stamp. Sorry we had to get out of there quick! TNLN. Thanks for the cache adventure geofreak.
Muzza, Alansan and dashed up the hill while the rain kept coming down. Well actually I lagged behind as usual.
Searched in the lovely rain rain rain and Alansan came up with the cache at 230pm. Because it was raining hard Alansan left his mark with his orange pen and Muzza and I just stamped the book but left no comment.
Did the dash back to the car. TNLN

Found this one in the rain with Alan-san and Kiwideb, Alan being the actual finder. Due to the rain coming down and a distinct lack of shelter, I TNLN and restricted my logging (of the Geocaching variety) to merely leaving my stamp in the book.
My thanks to Geofreak for the cache.

Found while travelling on our way through the area. Quite easy to find as it was a bit exposed. Great view, no swap, thanks Geofreak.
Found in the company of Nutcache. An easy find thank you very much! Took small pink super ball and left a small walking stick lapel pin - (remnants of a charity I spent over 30 years working for to benefit aged and disabled shut-ins). Thanks Geofreak.
First cache of the day a week after Winches and Waterfalls which I didn't get to, but though I might follow in footsteps on my recently aquired bike. This place although looking devastated, also looks pretty cool. TNLN. Thanks for the cache!
As I walked to the cache I thought "is that a name or a statement", not sure. Found a little after sunset after following the "new trail".

On the way out had to brake hard so as not to hit a deer. It didn't seem in any hurry to get off the road.

The second last one for the day and I almost couldn't be bothered walking up to the cache. I was running out of energy. Did take the time though and was glad to see the start of the regrowth. TNLNSL Thanks
Found in company with all the others on the winches and waterfalls event. Would have to be one of the best views I've ever encountered. What a place!!

Found by the ELTHAM Mob as part of the Winches & Waterfalls 4WD Event cache.
I thought this one could almost be one of the LR series, it would make a good Odoruin with the 'scortched earth theme';
"...they saw Mount Doom, its feet founded in ashen ruin, its huge cone rising to a great height, where its reeking head was swathed in cloud. Its fires were now dimmed, and it stood in smouldering slumber, as threatening and dangerous as a sleeping beast."
It was quite funny to watch Tracy and Ian tracking down the cache, stopping to confer over their GPS readings to have Tracy look down and say "here it is" ...
T: Action Man
L: 2 x Australian Pin badges, Plate holder "Gun!"
R.I.P -- we regret to announce the sad passing of 'Action Man' who dissapeared whilst on a rescue mission in the road side drain in this area. He will be missed by those who knew him ... especially Liam who had only just collected him from the cache. Thanks to "Da Bugs" who allowed Liam to select a replacement from their swap bag.

This will be one cache to go looking for ASAP. As soon as the regroath appears it may well be impossible. TNLN thanks Navigator
Well, the coords were spot on for this one, mine was showing 2 metres and tracy's was showing 1 metre. I looked left she looked right, and right was the right way to look.
Great views, great fun, great day.
One thing with these events, it's a really good way to empty your cache box. It's great just to keep putting stuff in and watch it disappear just as quickly, the kids had a ball.
Regards Andrew, "da big bug"
ps: Action man will be remembered fondly.

Found in the company of the Winches & Waterfalls event cachers. Wow, what a fantastic view. Someone has had a great barbie up here, all that charcoal lying around.
Read with interest how some GPS seemed to misbehave up here. I have had this problem before in another bushfire area. It seems (to me anyway) that all the charcoal left after the fire tends to distort (& maybe even multipath) satellite signals.

Found at 3:25pm. Our only FTF and our sixth cache on the wonderful Winches & Waterfalls 4WD Event. We needed to leave the event soon after lunch due to our driver for the day (Engels) having a prior dinner engagement. As it turned out, we were passing right by this spot on the way back to the main road, so we decided to give it a run (literally). We chased "xfking" up the obstacle course hill but when his new etrex hadn't had time to settle and pulled him up 20m short of GZ, the find was ours .
Always sad to see a logged hill, but we have to agree that it did give the opportunity for some terrific views.
No exchanges. Thanks Geofreak from D,S,H & H B-A.

I was being chased by a old guy up the hill for the first find of the cache lol. But like Rabbitto said my Gps co ords went out by 20 metres, but oh well. All fun.. A lovely view too. Thanks from MB found at 3:30pm
