Out and about caching on a warming Saturday morning. Been a few years since out East, signed again caus I can. TNLNSL TFTC
#4426 A short stroll along the fenceline once off the main trail and cache swiftly located at GZ.Thanks countach and mtbikeroz.
I was in the area checking the track for our walking group to do on Sunday (30/08) and decided to grab the caches while I didn't have the group with me. Unfortunately it was almost out in the open, so I added some more of the local camo after signing the log. TFTC, countach
Decided to head out early on my trip to the ACT to visit my kids and grandkids and take to long and easy way by picking up some caches along the way and use the time to clear my head and get some more fresh air. I was able to take my time and do this as normally my muggle missus would be with me, but she’s visiting one of our other kids and grandkids in another state!
On from Brooks Begins, and the uphill continued. Soon had to head off trail once again to travel towards the target. I noticed and read about two other interesting hides kind of nearby, they were calling me and I had a bit of a look at the terrain from this point and the distance, and regrettably decided to leave them for possibly another day.
Discovered the hide but was unfortunately too wet to sign!

I had lost track of where I was whilst driving west, and even the "State limit 100" sign wasn't enough to get the penny to drop. When I drove past the same place later I saw the "Welcome to NSW" sign on the other side of the road . Even the Federal Police signs didn't send me a clue - I mean the AFP look after the whole country not just the ACT right? Right? Eventually the change in road quality made me wonder. As this case was a Jasmer gap cache I drove back the almost 10Km I had overshot the cache... I parked just inside NSW and quickly found an easy way in via the ACT. Cache quickly found at this nice geographical boundary quirk. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC!
This is a pretty cool cache. Just to think we were standing at the most far eastern point of the ACT border between NSW. This was a great walk. Found with Archie_03 TFTC
This was really cool cache to find and to stand at. Great walk to this one.

A short walk up the hill to the most eastern point of the ACT. Quick find at GZ. TFTC
Was absolutely delighted to find this historical marked tree - oh, and the cache as well. The adoption was successful - a fave from me.
Parked the car at the gate and took the easy walk in. Great to find the lovely old marker tree and the cache. So pleased to come here. TFTC
Another trip into the ACT in order to collect some more smiles with TARDIS 0061 and phlphotos. On the way we also collected a number of traditional, mystery and wherigo caches paying particular attention to early caches. With our 5m telescopic TOTT in tow, all containers and logs found along the way are in good condition. Thanks for the cache countach and to mtbikeroz for the ongoing maintenance.
The following TBs came through for the mileage : Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football

Happy Australia Day
While down here we are trying to also collect as many of the caches from the first five years of caching of which this is one of them and to also try to increase the number of regulars so this cache met both criteria so was definitely on the list
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache countach and for mtbikeroz
The following TBs visited for the distance - Hawkesbury Tiger, 2011- 2019 NSW geocoins, Area 51 Tag, Cache In Trash Out Geocoin, Cache In Trash Out Tag, CITO Micro Geocoin, dirty Black Juke, Four Elements Geocoin, Mary Hyde's compass, Optical Illusion Geocoin, Spindoc Bob Memorial Geocoin, Trackable Building Brick, Wales Flag, Wheel of Caching Geocoin

Found on the way back home after looking for caches near Captains Flat. A straightforward find after bushbashing you from a nearby TE cache. Thank you.
North, South, East and West, I have now been to all 4 furthest most directional points in the ACT. TNLNSL TFTC
Not sure taking the shortcut through the bush was better than the track, but saw at least three different species of orchid and a number of birds. Leafhopper nymph guarding the cache.
Also 1 year and 2 days since last find.

I’ve been wanting to check out this area for a while and today I finally did it. I think I had the whole reserve to myself. TFTH
Great spot. Also found the C on the tree, the original boundary marker. Easy find for the kids.
I think someone needs to tell Google Maps what constitutes an accessible road as it wanted to take me nearly all the way to the cache (which of course you can't do thanks to the big gate). But it's an easy walk up the road and then a short crunch through the bush to get to the Far East.
A very easy day walking in the beautiful Autumn sunshine as we are recovering from a few minor sporting injuries. Walked approx 12 km over 4 hours enjoying the picturesque bushland. Loved the walk along the ACT/NSW boundary in particular finding the reference tree engraved with 'CT' for Commonwealth Terrirory. We have been wanting to find this tree for some 8 years and today was the day. The tree is well over 100 years old so we sat down for lunch nearby and admired the much much larger trees around us second guessing their ages.
We also saw a train go by (much to our surprise) and then saw a beautiful ancient train tunnel near a 'modern' aqueduct, an old bee hive and lots of bees wax, wrestled a snake in the higher country with great views over Bungendore. Then dodged flying mountain bikers along some of the trails and saw an old sheep dunking structure - yep - another great day in Canberra's Wild West or should that be East?
This cache was a quick find however we were surprised that it was located so close to an officisl boundary marker. That said, some of us were therefore looking in other places re: our own FTF game so we are sore losers, maybe - lol.
Lovely bushland in this area with beautiful old Scribbly gums Given the age of the boundary reference tree some of the other trees in close proximaty must be well over 200 years old. There was also a fallen tree that was once home to a swarm of bees and the wax was there to inspect.
We came to this cache from the train tunnel to the south so we followed the boundary fence for quite a while enjoying the view over Queenbyan from the ridge. From here, after finding this cache, we continued along the boundary line to the Kings Hwy across the road and up to the Tankengine cache 'Eastern Edge" in Kowen Forest.
Now the we have found the most eastern, most northern and most western caches we need to go find the most southern in the ACT which will be the most difficult of the four. TFTC Mtbikeroz.

We enjoy an old cache, and so does our grid, so it was out to The Far East we went today. After the flurry of excitement at the Queanbeyan showground this was a lovely place to enjoy the quiet of the bush... and now if anyone asks where we went for Easter, we can say The Far East... [^] TFTC mtbikeroz.
I have found this cache during the Clear Water Mega or in the weeks leading up to the Mega that was held I Queanbyean, New South Wales during the Easter Long Weekend of 2019. Due to the very large volume of caches and very long hours this is he first chance that I have had to Log all my finds,
This Mega Event will go down as one of the best mega events ever. I went on several Geocaching Tours, Swapped over 200 Pathtags, Bought Some Geocoins, Made some New Friends, Cached with Old Friends. During the Clear Water Mega I managed to get 8 FTF (as of 2359 on the 20/4/19. I am hoping to get more FTFs in the next few days. I’m sad to see the Mega ending but I’m excited for my next adventure in Hawaii for a few weeks after the mega ends. . Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with over 200 finds in the last few weeks it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache. A very big thank you to all the CO’s for your caches. I also donated 25 pathtags to the Girl Guides to thank them for their hard work. Had fun being the Clear Water Yowie for over 7 hours on the 19th April also.
My name will not appear in the All7 caches as I helped her put out hundreds of her caches. All other logs have been signed DSD or Darksidedan or Darkside depending on the size of the cache.
I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it
Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.
***** I am currently writing very detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author". This Badge challenges geocachers to write logs with an average one hundred words or more in each log. As of the 20th of April 2019 my average is 99 words per log, which seems close to the 100 words per log target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average up. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After more than 5000 aches (which includes all cache finds up and including today I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task very soon. Progress has been better than anticipated.

Following a Bungendore brunch (there's a TE title opportunity), geopartner, geohound and I stopped for a nice stroll through the reserve, collecting three caches.
Nice to finally tick this cache off the list. It was interesting walking along the old road to get here. TFTC MBO

International Geocaching Day today so Joolay and I headed out to grab a bunch of caches. Goulburn parkrun first and then caching. Finished off the Taralga series and grabbed some others on our list.
This cache was on Joolay's list to fill a space in her Jasmer grid. Easy little walk in - cache found in good condition. TFTC

Found today with Kittykatch out Caching around Goulburn. Decided to come back via Bungendore so I could get this to fill my hidden months. Great spot. Thanks for getting me out here
Parked near the gate to this cache which was only about a 200m walk in! Quite easy when you think that this is the most eastern point in the ACT!
Along the fire trail and then up the short incline and we soon found ourselves at a feature that seemed to indicate the border, and we were right as the cache was hidden nicely at our feet!
The green camouflage which seemed to be once glued to the lid has fallen off, so is just sitting with the cache. However the container itself is still holding up well
Signed our names in and we were soon headed off and down the hill towards the last cache "Astonishing Aqueduct"
Thanks mtbikeroz for keeping this old cache alive and well! A great spot

I never would have been able to say we went to the most eastern front of the ACT if it weren't for geocaching! Haha thanks
We're in Canberra for a few days looking after our grandkids, and naturally enough, I'm taking whatever opportunities I can to grab the caches I'd marked as to-do's before we left home.
Yesterday, I did some short courses at the Uni of Geocaching Canberra because I'm a sucker for challenge caches and today, I headed to the far east of the ACT to fill a gap in my Jasmer.
There's a certain irony about finding the ACT's easternmost cache arising from the fact that I had to leave the ACT to reach the cache. A quick find once there and delighted to find that in addition to filling a hole in my Jasmer grid, I'd also chalked up 8 monrhs of unlove.
Thanks to Countach for placing this cache when you did and to mtbikeroz for keeping it alive.

Found with Decrypter. We'd gone to Bungendore and decided to go for this one on our way back. As we were driving we could see the rain ahead. It had stopped by the time we parked so off we headed. Soon at GZ and once we had CIH the heavens opened up again. We tried our best to shelter the container and log but we got wet. The camo had come away from the lid but we placed it back on and increased the camo around the hide. TFTC.

Lunch in Bungendore, and a little time before the afternoon meeting, so I stopped at the spot and decided to grab these caches.
Scanning the geocaching map for someone interesting for an outing, I spotted a back road running beside Lake George with some caches along it. I've long found the area around Lake George fascinating, but had never been along here, so the way forward was suddenly clear! Heading back towards home with some time up my sleeve a little stopover at Brooks Hill made a lot of sense - and made for a lovely little loop walk.
While the eastern border of the ACT is perhaps not one of the world's great landmarks, it is a lovely place and an excellent cache location. Plus, it means I have now found the eastern-most and western-most caches in the ACT, so that's something TFTC

I'd never given any real consideration to the farthest reaches of the ACT - I didn't realise the eastern corner was so close to the Bung. There is a lovely old Scribbly Gum adjacent to gz with awesome buttressing at the base. TFTC, Mtbikeroz
#1094. 105 days in a row.
I was driving out to Bungendore after having had two different people recommend that I visit the Wood Work gallery and the leather shop there. I decided to have a quick stop for this cache before I left the ACT (again), especially since this fills in a gap in my Months Hidden list. I wandered out to GZ and made a quick find, then back to the car and on to Bungendore.

#1603 - Found on our cycle AroundOz adventure. Great geographical location. Worthy of a favourite point due to the location on the most easterly point of the contiguous ACT territory. The climb up from Brooks Rest Area was damn hard work.
We were out visiting friends both at Bungendore and Braidwood and found this cache while we were out and about - what a wonderful area, we loved the history and beautiful area. While heading back to Canberra we managed to find to few caches as well [^][^] Thanks to mtbikeroz for placing this cache.
It was interesting to journey to the Far East of our great territory today . We made a good journey of it to by walking up the old road which was quite pretty at this time of year. Plenty of butterflies around and nature was slowly taking back the road. The borders of the ACT go in some weird directions sometimes that's for sure...wonder what the reason was for this little point was? Cache was easily found and it was back down and out. Thanks for the journey mtbikeroz !
I was in the mood to go for a drive today so I decided to head out to Bywong for some of the Greenways caches. I did a few of them however had some troubles locating the entrances for a couple others. Next time I go out, ill take the map provided in the multi to make things a little easier.
After doing Bywong, I went into Bungendore but had no luck there after a number of DNF's. So I changed plans and started heading back towards Queanbeyan where I picked up some more finds before returning home.
Off to The Far East it was for me . This one was a short stroll from an offroad parking location. Signed log, returned cache and I was on my way again.
Thanks for bringing me here mtbikeroz

A quick stroll on the way back home from Bungendore and a straightforward find at the Far East. On retracing our steps we found another rather obvious little pile hiding a cache less than 10m away from The Far East. This claimed to be one of a series of 300-odd placed around the ACT border, I recall. Unsure what's going on here, doesn't seem to be featured on the geocache site. TFTC mtbikeroz.
Replaced container and log book. After 9 years, the original plastic container was badly sun affected and cracked. The log was also slightly damp and with rain will certainly get soggy. New small container - sun-proof and waterproof log.
Good one, excellent walk forMister JD and I, and a very nice piece of bushland. TFTC!!

After an amble up from the highway, spotting some Roos who bounded off as I approached, I came across the Far East. So now, that's north and east done, some more challenging caches for west and south I suspect! In any case I was stoked to make this find today. Just to let you know that the cache log is a bit damp due to the container lid being cracked.

Well I have now been to the most eastern, western northern and southern points of the Territory. I made the sort stroll from the parking area and a nice quick find, the log was a little damp (although not wet) but the container had some water in it. After draining the water I replaced it and headed for the Geomobile to continue the trip home. TFTC
Checked on cache as I was passing by, removed old wet mouldy old log books. Current log book OK. Original container still OK.
Great place to stretch our legs during our drive to Canberra. Cache easy to find.

The container lid has a crack in it which may allow water in it its not covered properly (and maybe when it is covered as well). It might be worth upgrading the container.
