My Campground for tonight is just 10 metres next to this cache . So funny. Thanks a lot for this quick find.
GAP YEAR BIG LAP - PART 2: THE ROAD TRIP Day 32 We are camped at Island Bend for a few days to explore Kosciuszko NP - great spot with the Snowy River babbling just below. Heaps of birdlife too & flies!! After a relaxing morning at the campsite, we came over to this section for a look before heading out for the day. The GPS sent me all over the place - lucky there was no-one camped here. J found the wall & had remembered the mention of it in the description which I had already forgotten.... Not so hard once you pay attention to the description. Nicely tucked away.#3930 @ 1310hTFTC meeplesonthehunt
Easy find, GPS had us pointing towards a tent location, but fortunately we didn't need to search under that
Decided a while back now that I wanted to summit Kosciuszko for the first time for our 3000th find. Convinced the in-laws to watch the kidlets for a couple nights and off we went.Camped last night at Thredbo Diggings campground, up early and started our hike from Charlottes Pass. Wind was crazy all day.. however it was a nice 20 oppose to 36 back home. Still quite a lot of snow around and we had a couple small crossings, didn't do the full loop this time will attempt that another time.Ducked into this camp ground to suss out for future visits, grabbed this one while here, a nice camp ground.TFTC!
LibertinaA Goddess of the sea, certain types of ice-cream, and apple pie, apparently. Oh, and of small pieces of string.
CaptainVimes and I are on a driving holiday from Melbourne to Canberra this week. We found this one pretty quickly. Thanks for the fun meeplesonthehunt
After a long walk, which started early this morning at Charlotte Pass, and finished there again after some 20km, we drove our way back to Jindabyne to the campsite for the night.
On the way back, we took a detour to come and find this one.
Although it is placed near a campground, all was quiet today, and we were able to search peacefully.
We note in a previous log that someone had lost a Garmin here, so we spent a little time wandering around to look for it.
Sadly, no luck, and we sympathise with those who lose things on the trails while out Geocaching. Over the years, we have lost 3 walking poles (one found again) on the caching trails.
Thanks for this hide meeplesonthehunt

I think I may have left my Garmin 66s hand held GPS at GZ. If you find it can you get in touch? Thanks. aries44duo. 0410 312 178.

Found with Tankengine and Youban. So many march flies. Luckily though there was a tent next to GZ and the wall gave some cover to find and sign. Tftc!!!
After a big day adventuring around the top of some big mountains and finding some cool caches it was time to head back to camp, but first just 1 more cache! And this one was it, on the way out we made a turn down this road to the campgrounds and parked up and started searching, But my GPS was a good 15 meters off initially but expanded the search and the cache was in hand and the log was signed. So now it was time to say goodbye to the mountains for this adventure.. No doubt ill be back!
Thanks for the cache Cached and Meeplesonthehunt!

I had flown down to Canberra to meet up with Dez (JezNDez) for an extended weekend expedition in the Jagungal wilderness with the sole aim of hunting a FTF on a new virtual cache at Valentine Hut. After hiking around 26km yesterday and successfully claiming the FTF we had stayed overnight at Schlink's Hilton hut before hiking out the remaining 11km back to the car which we had left parked at Guthega Power Station. After a welcome change of clothes we decided to drive up to Charlotte Pass to admire the view and rue our missed opportunity at hiking the top 10 peaks in the Main Range area, which had to be cancelled at the last moment due to the bushfires which ravaged the area back in 2020.
On the way out from the Power Station we ducked off the main road to visit this cache. We initially tried an approach from the camp area but a tent occupied the site nearby so instead we resorted to an approach from the road. As I got out of the car and walked along the road towards GZ, a yellow bellied black snake slithered through the roadside grass beside me, before eventually ducking into a hole in the rocky ground nearby. Dez kept an eye on our friend while I headed in to find the cache.
My phone initially led me astray and I ended back near the campsite before a quick reread of the cache page clarified where I need to be looking. No GPS directions needed from here and a short search later and the cache was spotted safely tucked away. Dropped off a trackable. TFTC

Shared the find here with goingplaces2 and Geologic2. Cache found, log signed, all replaced. Job done! TFTC.
With our usual caching buddies doing an extreme walk today, fitzy_1965 & I took it easy.
We even enjoyed a sleep in which is usual on a caching trip. Once we got going, we headed out to Perisher and picked up this oldie along the way.

29,925. Found with minniek during our Kosciuszko Expedition Weekend caching around the Snowy Mountains.
After a sleep-in (a what??) we headed out from our campground to grab a few caches - not many during a fairly relaxing couple of days touring around Perisher, Thredbo and Jindabyne itself. This was the first on our list, and we came prepared with a replacement cache as it was reported to be needing some TLC. It was a quick find at GZ and indeed the cache was broken and very wet. I have left a brand new 200ml Sistema container with two new logs in separate bags so it should be good for a few more years. Signed of course
Thanks to Cached and Meeplesonthehunt for this golden oldie !!

Had a nice slow day of geocaching along with ilook4geo and Geologic2. It was quite a relaxing day and we enjoyed the caches we found. Some previous logs gave us a helpful clue on this one and a new replacement log was soon signed with more names. Thank you to Meeplesonthehunt for adopting this cache/
One of those roads that you would never turn down unless there was a geocache to find. A quite little camping spot and a reasonably quick find.

Made a special trip out to collect this one after an event in town. I’ve had many a trip to the park and think one day I’ll detour to collect this so today I decided to put it right!
Campers nearby but a relatively quick find. Container and log(s) in good condition.
Thanks so much meeplesonthehunt for maintaining this cache

Glad the campers were out for the day. Gz was at top, but we found it in middle. Container is cracked, so log is wet. TFTC.
Wandered around GZ then noticed something odd in the wall. Cache container is broken and log is wet. Able to sign log. TFTC
This is day four of this trip - exploring Canberra, then heading south to the Snowy Mountains and back. Today is exciting as Pprime, T4mmmy, oz_bean_counter and I are playing in the Snowies. This morning OBC and I embarked on a cold and wet 21 kilometres from Charlotte Pass to Mount Twynam, Illawong Swing Bridge and getting picked up again by the other two in Guthega. We're both pretty tired but OBC is certainly done for the way. I am mostly capable of walking. Prime and T4mmmy are looking fresh after an easy day. And so on the way out, there are two quick stops for roadside geocaches. When in Rome, right!?Of course, I am not navigating and Prime is driving and just stopping the car where we need to be. This is up first. I can only imagine the history of the area and would reckon poking around here for a day with some old maps would be excellent. But today it's a case of the shortest route from the car to the co-ordinates on weary legs. Prime and I wander off and it's pretty cool to see some old wall ruins here. Naturally, it was up a bit, and while I made old man noises clambering, Prime made the find. I was there as he signed the logbook at 15:15. Nice this geocache is here to show off this forgotten place. Thanks for the geocache, Cached and meeplesonthehunt
Found this one after an epic hike from Charlotte's Pass to Mt Twynam and on to Guthega. TFTC

Stopped by on the way back from a morning skiing at Perisher. Cache soon in hand. TFTC.
We saw this cache as we drove to Charlotte Pass this morning and thought it may be too difficult. Goodness knows what we were thinking as it was easy as to get there on a tar road after we had completed our return hike from Charlottes Pass to Guthega today on the Illawong Walk …. More or less following the Snowy River to the weir at Guthega, via the historic Illawong Lodge
Believe it or not there was an older couple parked almost on top of GZ camping. We explained what we were doing and they we kept them happy and curious about geocaching.
TFTC and some Aussie history.

We're out for a Sunday drive today since the rain is absolutely bucketing down and neither of us are keen on hiking today. This cache has been on our radar since we decided to head to Jindabyne as it fills a spot for our Ausmer challenge.

Found on work trip. Eft the track there for someone else Pity the grubby campers that left the used pad in the Bush near it. Thanks awesome
The comment of the flies was noted, but we had no idea just how many or how bad they were! Not to take away from this great old cache, and the location is pretty good too. We had just walked to Kozi via Charlotte's pass and this was a detour and stretch the 'OMG my legs hurt' legs. Search abandoned to hobble back to the car for the repellent. These giant mutant biting flies were tougher and persistent. GH ventured to the right place, an interesting location, then we escaped the flies!!!
Trip log:
We had a plan, and it was to go to Kosciusko for an oldie and some high altitude caches, it was also to be my first visit, so I was keen. When GreyHams noticed an event was published up there this weekend the decision was made and after a lot of discussion over previous years the time had finally come to tick this one off...
Or so it should have been but my sprained ankle several days before we were to go, it was touch and go and I wasn't sure I could make the distance, but only one way to find out, with some contingency plans should they be needed.
With GreyHams it was an early start, and of course there were other Canberra cachers heading south for the weekend also, so we teamed up for a number in the morning with the newly formed 'Jindy Crew'. After a spot of Cooma caching it was out to 'The Gates' on Lake Eucumbene, a trek but a great way to pass the hot day in the cars aircon, and then the 'track' out to the cache, challenging and equally as amusing, it was a great drive in! A little caching around Buckenderra was nice scenery before meeting up with dty73 and Tankengine in Jindabyne for some more caching an event and a relaxed yummy dinner with our Canberra caching friends for the evening.
Arriving at Charlottes Pass early in the morning is the thing to do, and with so many others already there it was a busy carpark, needing to park about 1km down the road! After our warm up walk and lashings of sunscreen we started off, slow and steady and hoping the foot would make the distance. And it did! The prep was sound, the poles were my lifeline step after step and finally I got to attempt the summit.
Such a great walk, so much to see, yes, it looks all bare and rocky but its beautiful and the slow pace we set we saw all of it! So great with many other cachers up there to spend time with them too, and we spent much time walking along with them over the distance, so much conversation had the time pass quickly and enjoyably. Many thanks to GreyHams, it wasn't the main range loop walk we had planned but he got me to the summit and back! As broken as I was with that last limp to the car we still had the enthusiasm to plan the next trip.
Many thanks to the CO's for your caches, we only stopped at a few for various qualities but your cache led to a very enjoyable trip.

Years ago I did a Senior Geography Project on this place. I will never forget standing at the wet canteen and hearing voices of men chatting and laughing and smelling alcohol. It was so weird. I also found a key under a doorstep where a house once stood. I couldn't find that step for the life of me today... and I may have wandered through areas I shouldn't have.
At GZ was the staff lounge kitchen and dining hall. Just up from here was the radio station. I have a photo of me in my project standing up there taking notes. Haha.
Near GZ I found a few scraps of stuff from days gone by and made a silly little hanging sculpture that I hung in a tree. I'll pop the dodgy pic of it here.

Fairly remote location but worth the visit and exploration. Good day for geocaching with meals.
Beautiful day to go find this geocache, awesome sneaky spot in an area that I go to frequently for work. Thanks so much!

Found after a nice hike to Mt. Kosciuszko with my friends Lada a Jirka. Many thanks! I gave tried to enter aTB - "half pig" however it was too big...
Found while visiting Island Bend. Went for a drive around the area and actually went past here, and there was someone camped nearby. Further along our drive we got a signal telling us of this cache. So on our way back to our camp we came back via here. The people had left and we were able to get to GZ easily. A short search and soon had cache in hand. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
For some reason my interest in this area has heightened in recent weeks so after watching a few U tube video's we've come in search of history. Fasinating to think what was here and imagine what life might have been like.
Found the cache easily enough. Thanks indeed.

After spending the morning mountain biking in the cache desert around the resort, the afternoon was for caching, so a trip over to Perisher was planned, only 7km from the resort but at least 50km by road. 7 caches and a pair of trigs made for an enjoyable outing in this beautiful part of the world.
This is one spot I'm quite sure I would never had ever visited if it weren't for a cache - the cache was found pretty quickly, thanks for the descriptive description.... We picked up the trackable recently added.... TFTC

With the weather hotting up, it was time to escape the heat and head for the hills for the weekend. OZREG and I, enjoyed grabbing a few up around the mountains, where I hadn't explored previously. We made some good discoveries, clever hides and had some real adventures, over the weekend and shared some fun and laughs along the way.
Stopped off here to make this find, which was located after a short search. Loved the area so much, decided to come back here tonight to camp.
Thanks for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

This year, for the second time of my life, I travelled on holiday to Australia. The last tour has been in 1995, but this time something was a little different. For the first time I didn’t travel in a group, this was my first tour, were I was totally alone. I had booked the flights to Brisbane and from Adelaide and for the three weeks in between I rented a very small campervan, in which I could sleep and was able to do a little cooking. For me, this was enough.
In three weeks I was able to drive more than 5000 kilometres and could find around 90 caches, including all of the Australian caches from 2000. To finish the Jasmer Challenge was the other thing I wanted to do. There was only one month open and this was October 2000. With two different caches from this month in the country I could finish the challenge and in the end I visited them both. The best thing is: I didn’t need a cache of the USA to complete my Jasmer.
----------
I stayed the night at this campsite only accompanied by kangaroos and had a mostly quiet time. There was no connection, so I didn’t know that there was a cache only around 50 metres away from my car.

What a wonderful campground. Here for the weekend with 3 crazy boys. Great hide
Picked this up the morning after camping at Island bend. What a magical spot that is down there. Passed a heap of big bucks and nearly smashed into a few big wombats - glad have the high beams! Took a while to find the cache but eventually got there by checking the right rock! Thanks for maintaining this old cache.
Day 3 of an epic 5-day roadtrip hiking and 4WDing between the Alpine and Kosciuszko National Parks with Jacko had us travelling from Island Bend to Omeo via some 4WD backroads.
After camping overnight nearby we started making our way to Charlotte Pass. Of course we had to stop here first, and fortunately a caravan parked nearby didn't hinder access to GZ.
Thanks Cached/meeplesonthehunt for keeping this old GC6 going.

We've planed a trip to Jindabyne this year.
To get there, we took the inland route via Canberra where we've stayed for one night. We've then continued on to Jindabyne and have stopped at many interesting locations on the way there.
We've walkes up to the summit of
Mt Kosciusko on Easter Saturday. We've taken the main range walk up to the summit of 26km total distance. Great challenging hike past the blue lake and many other little mountain lakes.
The view up there was magnificent.
Back in Jindabyne, we've walked around the lake and have visited the sculptures near the lake.
We took the coastal route for the way home back to Sydney staying in Batemans Bay for the night.
We've stopped at many interesting locations and have visited some caches along the way as well
Thank you to all the owners for showing us the places
