Found during a road trip around Central NSW. Decided to check out this old school cache. The required values were quickly and easily obtained after a short wander through the abandoned structures. Calculations were made and began the reasonably short stroll out to GZ. At some point, I had left the defined trail and took a direct route down through the bush. There were a few likely spots to search and eventually one of the lower ones proved to be successful. TFTC
This one was solved virtually with irondale and malfromthefarm so today being in town I really wanted to grab it. Came to the ruins and then down to retrieve the cache. The cache is in great condition. The ruins….. well there’s lots of rubbish and graffiti. I really enjoy learning about Lithgow’s defended during the war, I wish I was taught more at school but I think the info just wasn’t readily available then. Not such a sleepy little town. Thanks for the cache!
Bit of bush bashing, then we found it. Caching with malfromthefarm. Cache is in good condition and well protected. Thanks for TC
Did the first waypoint a couple of years ago and when I came back today to go to GZ, I was very skeptical of my coordinates due to where it was located, however I soon came across the cache 9m north of where my GPS was telling me to go. Fascinating structures at the first waypoint.
I though I got the Coordinates wrong. The hint is reassuring. Stick with your guns. TFTC TNLN.
Made a circumnavigation of the Bluies to collect a lot of old target caches., however this was an unexpected and delightful diversion. I have driven past here hundreds of times and never realised what was just off the road. The blackberries are becoming a bit troublesome around WP1 but after performing the required counting the walk to GZ was very enjoyable, even spotting some roos on the way.

As per Baktrak's picture there's not much here. Just as evident was the silence from lack of any wildlife, large or small.
Interesting obtaining the stats and learning the history.
Thanks Riblit

We'd visited other examples of this era of Lithgow's history before and always like pondering these fragments of the past. It's all very visible after the recent fires. Some of the flora is already fighting back but sadly there are no signs of other life.
We collected the numbers and after wondering briefly whether there was any significance in the change of case, arrived at a successful result.
The well themed container is very slightly toasted and the log bag has shrunken away from heat but it's all in good condition.
Thanks Riblit.

Last cache for the day. I'd always wanted to visit these bunkers, maybe not in such dire circumstances. This part of the BLoR took a direct hit and the firestorm that swept up around this area was very very hot...... there is nothing left, blackened charred sticks, that were once trees, not one shred of undergrowth.... yet the little bit of rain has already seen some grasses reshoot...... seed pods have popped open, but it was eerily quiet, no wildlife, none, nothing. Some kind soul has left water and a bit of food for whatever may still be roaming about here but there is just total devastation here, I can't imagine anything surviving this.
The bunkers were clearly visible from the road..... unheard of, so I pulled in and walked to wpt1, spent a bit of time exploring, and what may have once been locked ...... nothing made of wood survived, all the bunkers and secret passages are open, in fact the bunkers would have been the only refuge any living thing would have had. I found the information I needed and headed off to GZ. I didn't hold much hope of finding a cache. The total blackened void got worse, it was a very sombre walk indeed. On approach to GZ, what would have been a beautiful lush oasis, nothing remained except charred rock and ash, yet there before me lie the cache, a little soot covered but totally intact. I opened it and found nothing wrong with the logbook or its contents. Couldn't believe it and once I replaced everything and truly looked around I saw life. Ferns had reshooted, phoenix was rising from the ashes.
I made my way back to the car and reflected on what I had seen. So glad another old school cache had survived.

#2108 up in the Lithgow area with goingplaces2, alnic39 & teamMerlin this cache was on my to do list as it filled a hidden month for me. We had a fail at the Abandoned Train at Clarence but better luck was had here. We parked off the road and goingplaces2 took us as close to GZ as their 4WD would get us the the walk down to GZ was done till the cache was in my hands
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache Riblit

Met up with phlphotos, Team merlin and GoingPlaces2 for some fun on the Newnes Plateau. This was on of our successful finds, whereas our efforts to get to Obscured By Clouds was not so. Everyone likes the older caches. TFTC
This was an older cache that we wanted to find today. The walk to find the end result was undertaken by a group including group leader teamMerlin, alnic39, phlphotos and goingplaces2. The cache container was successfully found at the end of the walk (no geo trail here), names were added to the cache log and all was replaced where it had been found. Thanks to Riblit for placing this cache.
Met up with goingplaces2, phlphotos, alnic39 and JJCC at the Abandoned Train (were we had a DNF) on our way out to the old-school multi Obscured By Clouds. Before we headed out through Lithgow to the Clouds we dropped into see this cache again as the majority of the group had not collected this one. Lots of new bush growth since our last visit when it was nearer to a scorched earth landscape after the fires. proceeding to this multi - but that only made the walk to GZ even more interested as there are a lot of flowers on show at present. Everything is still in good order.

Our first multi cache... thought we were on a wild goose chase.. took us awhile to work out coordinated but with a little perseverance we finally had cache in hand!

Currently on the road for gigs in the Blue Mountains and Hunter areas. Heading from Lithgow to Windsor today in this November rain. Not the best day for caching at all but a great area for it nonetheless! I hadn't had time to prepare for this caching trip as I put all my recce efforts into a trip to New Zealand earlier in the week which I came off and straight into this the following day. But I used Cachly for a quick look around this morning and found this real old multi with an interesting sounding location so off I went.
At the WP are a few interesting old structures indeed. At first I thought I was being sent below into what is currently flooded to what looks to be knee level ..but then I read the instructions properly a second time and realised I was mistaken. Rain coming down very lightly but I had a heavy duty rain jacket with me so once the calcs were made and a GZ plotted I figured I should be ok so off I went. I managed to get the [Green Lantern](https://coord.info/TB79T29) to a parking area within a hundred or so meters from it where by now it was raining pretty heavily. Off on foot and carefully made my way down to an area which felt good but by now it was soaking everywhere! I only had the i4GPS with me today and while it was giving me a pretty good reading, visibility was a problem through the rain and the dark clouds above letting very little light in. A fairly uncomfortable search ensued for not too long thankfully before a container soon revealed itself. I etched my name in the book, dipped a few TBs, and replaced exactly as found. I tried not to get too much rain in it with the signing but it was raining heavily at that point so I hope it is not too damp in there for the next finder. TFTC, Riblit. Container and log all in good condish. Great old classic cache!

Out with JJCC on a caching run to Lithgow and beyond. After completing some early morning chores in Richmond, we headed up the mountain and made our second cache find for the day. As an added bonus we also filled in a missing hidden month on our finds calendar.
After collecting all of the information at the new posted coordinates we calculated the next waypoint and leisurely made our way on foot to GZ. Luckily the bush is still coming back from the fires, so access was rather straight forward. That said, the wildflowers are absolutely spectacular at the moment. After finding the container we both signed the log before replacing everything as found. Both the cache container and log are in excellent condition.

I enjoy this type of cache that shows me something I didn't know about. I remember there was an airstrip here in the 70s but knew nothing of the relics from WW2.
I took a long way round to WP1, figured which wall was the right one, then across to WP2 where fortunately the blackberries didn't impede access to the structure.
Worked out the co-ords, and soon had CIH.

Great cache. Part one had me scratching my head on the numbers, but a look at the equation resolved which one to use. Interesting structures at Wpt2, pity about the rubbish and graffiti. This is one of those spots that would be worth NPWS cleaning up and drawing attention to. Did the numbers and found the 4wd would take me pretty close. Quick find at gz with good coords. Thanks for the adventure.
When 'away from home' I look for opportunities to find a few different Types of caches in the same day, and this ended up being #4, with a couple of Trads, an Earthcache, and an Unknown earlier in the day.
After getting a few more Waymarks, to keep on filling up that Calendar with Visits, I was heading back to Taree, and stopped the other side of the road to gather some information regarding this Multi.
In hindsight I'm not really sure what I was to looking for, as the Maths didn't work at all. Went to WP2 where a lot of the blackberries have been cleared it seems. Got some 'good' numbers there, but still couldn't be sure of how to do the maths with "A". Tried one option, and no success there.
Noted that there was a few cars pulling up off the Great Western Highway (hmmm) [With some of the messages graffitied onto the concrete walls of the ruins this Multi would not be recommended for juniors]
With wanting to get a fourth Type I used a few alternative options of numbers, and headed further 'into the bush'. No sign of any ruins or civilisation, so I was NOT expecting to find what I did when I climbed down to a 'new GZ'. "WOW!" an ammo tin hiding here! And it has the logbook for THIS cache! I would NOT have expected that! Found @ 1720, GAFF2 (270 km SW of home)
Being close to on set of GZ coordinates I was happy to leave a Correct Site Marker - surgical marking pen. Took: a trackable, known as "Raunchy Rhino", tho the message is, "Stop using Rhino Horn! No Rhino Horn!"; I can't take it Vietnam, but will drop it off elsewhere.
Cache dry and intact.
I will add a Bookmark for the Challenging Cache elective #4, with this being #384, of the x 400 required.

A great multi. Interesting location with lots of history. Thanks for bring us here. Dropped a tb off
We are spending a week in the Lithgow area for the September School holidays, staying at the Lithgow Caravan Park. This was our 5th find of the day, 22nd find of the holiday.
Parked off the road about 90 metres from WP1, and then headed off through the scrub to WP1. Gathered the required info from the nice old structure located here, then returned to the geomobile to continue our journey to WP2.
At WP2 we spotted a familiar looking structure, I'm sure we saw something very similar yesterday , and after a quick explore we again gathered some required info. After a few calculations we all headed off down the dirt track toward final GZ.
Left the 4X4 about 250 metres from GZ and continued on foot. At GZ a quick search of the likely hidey holes soon had CIH. A nice big "military" type container, which was most appropriate for this cache. TNLNSL. TFTC.

I made this so much harder than it had to be. got the first count wrong but then carried it through the calculations even after i had a recount. idiot! the blackberries have died back making the 2nd waypoint easier to access although i found a few ripe ones to eat, yum. I'm not so much into the war stuff but the physically visible stuff is hard to ignore. due to my bad co-ordinates i wandered around the wrong area for a while before deciding it was a waste of time then recalculated and off i went to a much more likely spot...
How i came up with the prize is frankly a miracle i didn't really deserve. I really enjoyed my walk in the bush land and my 4WD enjoyed the mud we encountered.
tftc and the challenge Riblit.

Loved this one! Very interesting history & we did a bit of exploring at WP1 finding several artefacts including an old intact ink bottle with lid and several used .303 cartridges. WP2 was a bit trickier to get to being quite overgrown but still perfectly possible & the final was in good condition. Thanks Riblit for an interesting cache & also good information on the cache page. We've driven past this spot so many times now and had no idea of the history here.

I can't remember what we found so puzzling last time we attempted this cache, because today it all seemed clear & straightforward.
The second waypoint gave me a slight problem, as the entry way is getting overgrown with blackberries. I had to walk in very carefully! Once we had the information needed, and before we started walking to the cache, we stopped to sample the blackberries. Very nice .
Once at GZ the cache was a quick find for bikerbuddy. Thanks

Toriaz and I came here a while ago and looked at the ruin, but we weren't sure about our interpretation of the cache notes, so we left it. We were out here today with Canary, having found Roger's new caches in the area, so we decided to take another look. The instructions seemed clearer today - maybe it was my head - but there was no problem collecting the information and working out the coordinates. We found the cache easily after a short walk. Nice to finally get back and have a go at this one properly. Thanks Riblit
Wat an epic saga. really enjoyed the journey thru time and the fitting cache. Thanks heaps
Fun multi. Enjoyed waypoints. Got required info. Long walk to cache. Took time to find final cache. Fav point. Tftc
I had been eyeing this one of for the past 2 years but never had the time to stop and explore as it was always late afternoon. Today however was different so stopped and found wp1 easily and then moved across to wp2, did some calcs, looked at the map and no I don't think so. Redid and thought possible.
Wondering towards gz was pleasant as I pondered how many rounds would have been fired from these locations .
Found cache easily in its hide and made my way back to the car.
I did think that they are very close together and if a serious raid would happen they could be taken out easily. Great cache and fave from me. TFTC

An interesting piece of history.
At first I thought my calculations were off, but the location fit the clue.

TFTC we were in the area on the 4/12 working on setting up traps to catch the endangered Eulamprus leuraensis (Blue Mt Water Skink) at Browns swamp only a short distance from this cache. So after setting the traps off we went in search of the cache. It was really great to learn about the areas WWII history. As is known the area had been burnt but not so intensely as to make finding the cache a dangerous activity. The cache contents were in good condition there was signs of heat in that the bag with the log was slightly melted.
It was not until we came to log the cache that we realised that it was disabled hence the late log entry.

So far this one has survived the fires but I'll take it out of play until I check and the area recovers a bit.
This is only my second cache, but I gather that the thing to say is TFTC! Really interesting place to visit and a fun little romp through the bush to find the cache. Below the cache there is an interesting dirt canyon that's worth checking out. Took nothing, but left some euro coins that have been floating around in my wallet for ages.
Another cache found by rogerw3 and me on our afternoon's tour of the Lithgow area.
Both of us tend to leave the multis alone until all else is found, but it was a shame we didn't try for this one sooner. The historic WWII military 'ruins' scattered around Lithgow are extremely interesting to military history buffs, and of course there are many of old railway and other engineering sites to visit too.
We knew where to park and more or less how to count (had to make one guess, which turned out to be right) and were soon on our way for a shortish stroll and a shortish bush bash to a very likely spot. Lots of fun!
Cache was in very good condition. TNLNSL.
Hope other geocachers will make the effort to check out this cache. It's not too hard and is very enjoyable. Geo-kids would find it interesting and there's no really serious danger nearby.
The high winds on the day didn't encourage us to hang around too long, but those without familiarity with the Lithgow air defences of the early 1940s will be amazed at what's still remaining in these parts. Other locations even have guns (though not originals) still in place.
Many thanks to Riblit. A favourite point for sure!

Another cache that I have had on the to do list for way too long. Today with pjmpjm we got all the info together and made our way to GZ.
We got there even though the GPS reception today was a bit erratic but once close enough the hiding spot was apparent and the cache was soon in hand.
Great history lesson here and well worth doing. I don't do many multi but this one deserves a favorite from me.
Thanks for a great cache, loved it.

As we pulled in I was a little unsure whether we were in the right spot as we couldn't see anything right away. But we soon spied the structure and set off to collect the required information. Thankfully geo teen was on hand to do the complex calculations and before we knew it cache was in hand. Thanks for bringing us to this great spot. TFTC.
sorry about delay in logging these caches as computer time at home has been limited as been caring for sick father . and visiting the caches on day off when i have the kidds. my father has now passed away so now i am catching up on the logs .found with cattrax007 and 4x41411.what a great place i drive pass all the time and had never stopped before so much history left forgotten beside the road.though i was beginning to think we had the wrong coordinates when low and behold cache was found on the exactly the spot said. this is my daughter (cattrax007) Favourite so far because of the history and the bush thank riblit for this cache. and hello from 4x41411(scout from blackheath)
Had viewed this multi a little while ago, and thought it was one we would like to do with the Geosons, but with one away on camp......we did it with the oldest geoson.
It all started with some headscratching at WP1, then a wander over to WP2, then a wander back to the car to calculate the coords (Then a little more head scratching) then a slightly longer wander towards final GZ........which we had some doubt about our maths until 'there it was'!!
Very interesting area to visit, had heard about this 'installation' in the area, but didn't know where!
Thankyou for the Cache Riblit!
Left Nothing .......wasn't until we got back to the car that we realised Geoson had TAKEN golf balls (Will deposit back into another of your most worthwhile caches)....and by that time no one was keen to return immediately.

Gotcha !!! Stopped at the old airfield many times as a kid on our way to visit rellies in Mudgee but never knew these old buildings were here.
Collected the required info, did the calcs then headed of to calculated GZ. After some time I started to doubt my maths but after finally arriving at calculated GZ , a short search revealed the very appropriate cache container. TNLN Thanks for bringing us to this interesting place and TFTC.

This is our 4319th overall find.
Found at about 1:23 PM. I have lost track of how many times I have driven past this site. Shell and I moved to Dubbo about 10 years ago and for the first time on Friday night we discovered the old runway and now today we saw this, what a fantastic spot rotting away! We quickly worked out the information and the in true riblit style a nice wander off to the GZ. The cache was found in good condition.
Thanks to Riblit for the cache and sharing this spot.

Finally did it!!!!
Have driven past here since 05 and kept telling myself that I needed to find the time to stop and do this one.
Enjoyed the strole around, though was starting to doubt my maths when heading for GZ but it prooved correct when "hey there it it is" right where the GPSr said it should be.
Took TB "Mars Rover M04" as he has been languishing here for a while.

This is a fascinating area that I have visited many times before but this is the first as a cacher. The bunkers seem to have been used by many people and for many purposes (i just wish they could resist breaking bottles and leaving rubbish) Lots of small candles and ornaments have been left behind as well. The cache itself was found after making the calculations and venturing down a little. TFTC. indeed a fitting container.
This was a really fascinating adventure.... I found the remant structures really interesting and really enjoyed the walk. An informative and well thought out multi... many thanks! TFTC
Found 14:30 as part of a Lithgow 4x4 weekend caching and camping adventure. We certainly had some problems with this one! After visiting the way points we could not get the math’s to work. Now that I have seen some of the weekend photos, I now see our error. Lucky we were able to sort out our error (with a little assistance) and we were again on the right track to GZ. I have driven passed here so many times and never known these ruins were here. Thanks for sharing the history. TNLN thanks.
Mmmm... maths wrong, basic counting wrong, wrong direction, walked a long way. ... but we got it right in the end thanks to the diligence of jkcourtz and rags4x4.
I've driven past this many times and never knew it was here. I great rest stop which I will take advantage of in the future.

Had a good time on this cache .... might be a matter of 2 many cooks !!!! hey got there in the end
A longish walk to GZ awaits but could have driving a lot closer.

Talk about problems! We had to do several checks of numbers and then some calc checks on this one and some how we still stuffed it up, good thing some help was only as far as the phone, Thankyou we found where our errors lay and soon the correct coords were discovered. Top spot I never knew all that history was down there. Took nothing left nothing but Thanks for bringing us here
Well this one took a little longer then we all were hopeing but we got there in the end.
After a walk of about 240m in the wrong direction by our team we didnt find a cache (well we hope we didn't find the hidding spot) but we did find a possum curled up in the hollow of a tree.
After returning to the group and some lessons in maths we were soon off to GZ.
Thanks for the cache and bringing us to this spot that we would never have known existed if it were not for caching.
Left trackables
Thanks to the organisers, cache owners and those who attended the weekend, we had a top time. Look forward to catching up again at the Geocaching Association of NSW Nurragingy Christmas Party GC1ZCCX December 12 2009 and the Oz Wagga Wagga Mega Event (April 2-5, 2010) GC1Y5R if not before.

Superb multi, WP1 was a bit of a challenge to one's counting abilities but the mathematical possibilites in the puzzle narrow down the choice.

Found reasonably easily after the usual doubts!
A well set out multi in an area not spoken about much in Lithgow. I have never heard of it despite working there for thirteen and a half years and living in town for six and a half.

Found it! 15:15 I had planned a long weekend caching marathon in the lithgow area and this was the first one I tried. This is without doubt the best multi I have done so far. I have driven past here so many time without a clue as to what was here for so long. The first WP was straight forward but the clue for WP2 had me worried. Did I do it right? Sure enough WP2 was found with a little bit of logic and some good luck. WP3 was a leap of faith. Not sure where I was going but went there anyway. Sure enough the cache was there. Joy of joys! SL TFTC A highlight of my weekend.

I knew about this place before and had been here before EXCEPT..... the first waypoint was completely new to me. And a very interesting spot it was too.
With the longish walk at the end I thought I had done the calc wrongly, but my patience was rewarded.
AlternatePup had a great time.

We were aware of the ruins around waypoint 2 but I had not known of the interesting structure at waypoint 1. We were unsure if we had the correct coordinates for GZ but decided to see follow them anyway. How relieved were we when GeoKid3 found the container.

Found WP1, no problems. Got to waypoint 2. However somewhere in the translation the maths must have got a bit too complicated, and spent a fair amount of time searching for the cache without success.
Revisted the first two points to make sure we had the right numbers, but to no avail.
Decided that we'll return another day (maybe with a calculator).

We enjoyed this multi even though we werent too sure that we had the final calculation correct and it seemed to be taking us further off the beaten path.
Relieved to find the big ammo cammo waiting for us.

this was a great hidden location. i really loved exploring the old ruins (and showed how badly unfit i was coming back uphill from the cache!). i really enjoyed this and wish i could have spent more time in the area. wasn't intending to take the bug but it had sat there for a while and i figured i had enough time to drop it off on the way home. tftc!
Both the locations were quite interesting for the first two WPs and drove to nearby the final waypoint before carrying on by foot. Thanks for the Hidde history. Dropped off Loup Loup TB.
Have driven past this many times and didn't even know these ruins were there. WP1 was found easily and had a bit of a scout around to see what we could find. Off to WP2 which was easy to find and spent even more time looking around. Drove down the track to within 80 to 90m of the cache and walked down the hill for another easy find.
Thanks Riblit for showing us these sites.

Late in the afternoon with the westering sun low in the cloudless sky we stopped off to visit this area. Hidden history indeed! As is so very often the case when we go caching, once again we are shown something we had no idea was here. Some serious looking emplacements here, although obviously the worse for temporal wear.
The first waypoint presented an interesting couple of options but in the end mathematically it could only be one. At WP2 we wandered around a little checking out the old structures. Well worth doing. Thence a little ramble along the track to the cache where the requisite duties were carried out.
Thanks Riblit for another historical adventure. We made no swaps here.

What an awseome area!!! We could have spent hours here, but with the rain starting to come down we did only what we had too and were in and out rather quickly. All co-ords spot on (and luckily our maths work too). Took geopuppies with us to GZ and they loved it. Also took TB.
found 18.45. We where quite suprised to find this one, as the recent fires have scorched this area. The box was only slightly blackened and all it's contents are in perfect condition. I was last hear about 15 years ago and loved exploring this area again. This cache is well worth a visit. Even if at the moment, you get a little black.
Found @ 1845 after work with team Mick & Jeanette. I Remembered coming here years ago with dad and playing through the "Structures" as a kid, Great spot for exploring but watch the geokiddies and Puppies, one of our dogs fell down a hole in the "Structures". Also note when considering this cache, that the area has recently suffered bush fire damage so be prepared to get a little blackened. TFTC

Quite a treck to GZ. It was an interesting multi cache. The cache was jam packed with goodies. Took autum bear Travel bug and left Harley Davidson belt buckle.
Another interesting area that would be easily missed. Really takes you back to the times when things were so different. Imagine, gun placements in the Blue Mountains?! You wouldn't dream of it these days. Had no problems finding all WP's although the equation can be a little confusing. TNLN.
Might get up there soon today & drop off Autumn Bear & check out the cache

Checked out cache, and it's in its original location, 100% there and full of goodies, same as it was the last time I went.
Checked co-ordinates and it matched to within 0.001 in both directions
Took nothing & dropped off Autumn Bear

Couldn't find it. Looks like it's been rolled. Can we have a maintenance visit please.
Thanks for that horrorking, I though it strange that it would be muggled. I emailed bodysteppingfreak earlier asking what he got for the first two waypoint numbers. I'll see what reply I get.
GUDude & Crews first Multi-cache, never knew about the first WP structure, knew about WP2 as we can see some of it from the road. We subtracted, divided, subtracted and subtracted again. Then punched in the co-ords and bingo we were spot on !

Certainly was an interesting hidden history find. We were not sure where we were being lead with the second set of coords. The final spot was most pleasant. Took cable ties and left bag of blue glass stones. Thanks Riblit.
Very interesting quest that gives an insight into the defence of the SAF and coal mines.
Unfortunately also shows how we don't properly conserve our history.

Lived in Lithgow all my life and never knew about the army barracks. Nice stone work. found second clue had a good look around the gun emplacements before moving onto the final WP. Took nothing left a bag of green marbles. Good fun. had a little accident with the yo-yo but rebuilt and now OK.
Well where do we start. We found WP1 ok two days earlier but forgot the rest of the clues (but youngest geokiddie found a samll snake). We returned two days later with all the clues did the math and hey presto came up with the WP for the cache. Our visit to the cache was a bit of a rush though as it was starting to get dark and also starting to rain as well. This cache however, was very facinating, interesting and fun.
Took camera case and left skydivers.

Outch, my poor legs! After a nice round 8-10km trip earlier with Burkie, this time the Horrorqueen wanted to see a GeoCache. We found the 2 waypoints & got the right figures, but had to double check them after walking around for 10 mins looking for the cache.
Turns out I should have looked, well, right under where I was standing - sigh! Great cache. Left yoyo, took hat (As mine fell off just above the cache area & I was not going to chase it that far). Very apt case but I guessed before I got there

Made it from Wp1 to Wp2 without being skittled. Easy maths and on my way...now were those calculations correct, and then I realised where riblits live and had the cache in no time. Left a case for a cable. Thanks Riblit for another piece of history..
Driven passsed lots of times and never stopped. I suppose that's why it's hidden history
We'd spotted the ruins at WP2 while driving past previously, but were unaware of the WP1 structure. Was the old dis-used airstrip part of the same development?
We had fun exploring the ruins of the anti-aircraft gun emplacements and bunkers. Couldn't resist a few passing Eddy Murphy quotes from 'The Golden Child'. "Only he who's ass in narrow...."
After the look that only a wife can give, it was time to go in search of the very appropriate cache container at WP3.
Not too sure about the extensive collection of shoes in the trees in the area... Some were even nailed to the trees! I checked and furtunately the shoes had no feet in them...
As I crawled around in the damp undergrowth, flocks of Honeyeaters seemed to be amused by my frustration... "Hey, bird! Did you just see a little Hari Krishna midget, in the tree, floating, or is it me?..." More dirty looks from Mrs Wally...
After a brief session of confused looks, the cache was found right where it should be!

A fascinating spot. WP's 1 & 2 were found and the required information obtained. My son had a great time running around amongst the ruins while the numbers were being crunched. That completed the highly appropriate cache container was quickly located. Thanks Riblit for a very interesting cache.

Found wp1 easy, the door was the challenge,Bill router figured the door out and we were on our way to waypoint2.
Mrs Router and Mini router walked ahead and a call came over the radio here is some old ruins over here, WP2 was a snap.Into geosuzie for the next bit ,did not go to far till things wanted to scratch, So we walked the last 300 odd turned right and Mr Router had the cache in hand.
Great Cache should be more!

WP1 is very confusing! We didnt know where to count from, so we tryed everything. WP2 was ok! Fed in different figures from WP1, but still couldnt get any decent co-ords from the maths equation.
Will come back at some stage, but not till we have worked out how the equation works or someone logs how to use it.
Nice hidden area for a cache, with some great hidden history.
Thanks for the fun, Riblit.

Our last stop on our way back from the scary darkness.
We had already had a long day, I was sleepy, the child bride had only had 2 hours sleep, the girls were already nodding off, what better way to wake up than with a walk in the brisk mountain air.
So, we diverted our return to the bells line, I mean, it was about time I did this one considering cache mail had been waiting for me since it was put out. (Thanks very much for that Riblet)
We visited WP1, had no problems there, though, rather confused why they built it so far away from the other structures etc. Went to WP2 which is in the pics, and disturbed the breeding ground for the new super mosquito. Grabbed the info we needed there, and trotted off, then, decided I had to re look at how I read the maths required, changed it to the other possible way and that made more sense.
Grabbed the cache easily after a bit of a walk. Grabbed my mail, a DVD and left a cap, signed the log and re-joined the rest of the family who were waiting for me.
On the way back, we just can't figure out what the hell is with all the shoes hanging from trees around this place? I'll post a pic soon.
A very good cache with some very interesting history.
Thanks Riblet!

First of six for the day. I too was confused by the WP1 instructions but after plugging all the numbers into the maths it became pretty clear what the first number should be.
Left DVD, took tools.
A strange man was waiting for me at my car. I got the odd impression he was trying to pick me up. I noticed a number of other cars coming and going while I was here. Possible gay meeting place?

Stopped in to do this cache while on a world wind visit to Lithgow.... History was never one of my strong points but I really enjoyed this cache and the history that went with it.
Found the cache easily but didnt swap anything as my bag of goodies was sitting at home on the counter. Thanks Riblit, we really enjoyed this cache.

It’s amazing how much of this type of stuff got blown up or bulldozed after the war.
Used to be a coastal gun thingy where I grew up that was blown up after the war and I don’t think anyone would know its location now apart from some of the kids who once explored it. So Riblet you have taken us yet again to somewhere we would never have known about.

The virgin find... was under a bit of pressure as I had the cache setter with me. I never knew the first waypoint was there, but had been to the second waypoint before. Did our bit for the ecology of the area, the locals use it as a dumping zone. A white ute pulled up full of rubbish while I was working out where I should be, I pulled out my camera and the ute buggered off real quick, but he probably returned after we left. great work Riblit... I will have to look long and hard at my recommended list now...
