Quick park and grab on day 2 of our desert crossing from Birdsville to Mt Dare.Container was broken and the logbook in quite bad shape, so we left a brand new mint tin with a weatherproof scroll.TFTH
Found this cache whilst on our two month adventure throughout central Australia and remote parts of WA.Who would have thought a park n grab was possible in the Simpson. Container is showing its age. Sorry I had nothing to change it.Thanks to all the COs for adding to our adventure. TFTC
On a 2 week family trip going through the simpson desert from south eastern victoria and grabbing some caches on the way . Out plans changed due to the rains so we needed to flip our route and start our desert crossing from dalhousie Springs and finish at birdsville. Now at birdsville we are stuck here due to all roads being closed for now. Anyway back to the cache.Ticked off a grid square on this one! Nice hide. As mentioned previously, containing needs replacing but I was still able to stamp the log.TFTC
We were camped nearby last night, we made the quick trip to the knolls before the rest of the muggle tagalong got going. Tftc
A short detour off the Frenchline soon had this one in hand and another slot filled on our grid! TFTC Ian Mac
Thanks for the amazing views and it was a nice bumpy ride and it took the kids a while to find it TFTC
We are travelling from Adelaide, visiting Parachilna, Coward Springs, Eringa Waterhole, Mt Dare, Dalhousie Springs, across the Simpson desert to Birdsville, Innaminka, down the Old Strezlecki Track to Lyndhurst, a stopover in Mintaro and home again.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Found a suspicious rock pile at GZ with scraps of paper underneath. No container and it seems the log book got destroyed. Placed a new container and piece of paper. Thanks for bringing us out here - the views from atop the Knolls were amazing.
Found container in rough shape but there. Placed a new piece of paper. If someone coming through to log it brings a new container it would help.
To the owner of the cache thank you.

I was expecting to take the high road to claim the cache, but enjoyed the views before venturing down for the cache itself.
It did take require a bit of planning, preparation and equipment to get here, but I am still relishing the 5/5 rating without fearing for my life
I found the cache quite exposed and replaced in what I thought to be a more authentic CO intended manner
Thanks for the cache Ian Mac

I was finally able to cross this one of my dnf nemesis list. It has taken a while as it is a long way to come. Another enjoyable journey across the Simpson. TFTC
Made our way down from the French Line to these interesting gypsum outcrops. Tftc
Stopped here during our annual desert trip - 10 border crossings in 14 days .
It was nice to see this one had been replaced since we stopped here last time [^].

A pretty simple 5/5 if you have the time and right equipment. Did I mention the flies?

Found as part of an extended trip with FeatherWaite, Freddo, Team Waldron and a couple of non-caching friends that saw us travel from Adelaide to Coober Pedy, through the Painted Desert to Oodnadatta, then on to Dalhousie and Mount Dare, before crossing the Simpson Desert to Birdsville and then back down to Adelaide via Marree and the Flinders Ranges.
We had pretty good weather, with moderately warm days and cool nights, but plenty of flies!
It was great to be able to find some remote caches in some really interesting and scenic locations.
Thanks Ian Mac for the cache.

Found in the company of Freddo, e.gregory1, Team Waldron, occasional cacher out of retirement SteadyOn and muggle friend Tony during an awesome trip to the Simpson Desert, staying at Coober Pedy, then camping out at Dalhousie Springs, three nights in the Simpson Desert, Birdsville, Clayton Bore and Aroona Valley. Thanks for the cache Ian Mac!
An impatient convoy made it tricky to be able to stop for this one, but we managed to sneak it in!! TFTC
Traveling on a Central Australia adventure with the awesome K8tybee. On the hunt for as many australian counties as we can get! And so excited to finally make it accross the Simpson this trip! Thanks to everyone who keeps these awesome caches maintained. Such a brilliant trip.

Over the past few weeks a group of us explored the Simpson Desert traversing along the Rig Road, WAA Line, French Line and the Hay River Track. Wow what an adventure we had out in the desert, except for the flies!
Enjoyed the history of this place and great views from the top of the hill. We replaced the container as per description.
Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

Looked all around, starting at the tree and widening our search area, all without success . Searched through the soft soil and leaf litter at the base of the tree and there's a wire attached to a root, but has nothing connected to it at the other end [B)].
Another cache we'll have to stop for, next time we come across the Simpson .
Thanks for getting us to stop here Ian Mac.

Well this cache was no where to be found. Sadly it is a DNF for us. The area is so fragile around this tree and it doesn't seem right to be digging up the last remaining parts of the compacted soil with shovels as previous people have done whilst attempting to find it. Below this tree there are animals living as you can see the entrance to their burrows from around the side. The land is slowly being eroded away from this tree so lets protect nature. We are sure the last replaced cache here has gone. There was no x to mark the spot and we removed all loose sand and foliage carefully from around the tree and there was no cache there to be found. We replaced it all very gently. There has been a substantial amount of water through this area. We have left a new cache and secured it to the tree roots in the hope that it won't go in the next wet season and to stop people destroying this fragile environment in the hunt for claiming a find. Cheers...eatmorchikin from Brisbane.
LAst time we were here was BC but not for our travelling companions who made the find then. It was them that inspired us to take up caching so you can imagine our chagrin when we learned we had passed within feet of this 5/5.
One suspects that we were lucky to find this particular container this time around.

Hi Cachers, if anyone is looking to do this cache to/from the Alice Mega can you please message me. I'm keen to do a Simpson desert crossing but I'm short of a travel buddy. Cheers
Quick find on an epic trip across the Simpson Desert. Many TFTC in a beautiful part of this country and for breaking up the long journey. The perfect 1000th cache find!
Replaced cache looks like someone else has been here looking for it today. We left a new container and logbook. X marks spot at base of tree. Found with BorisB&Natasha on our trip through the desert.
On a wonderful trek with Gonefishen07 heading across the Simpson Desert and beyond. Thanks to all the COs who have provided some fantastic entertainment along the way. TFTC and for bringing us here.
Was searching without luck for this cache , so called to Pa to bring the shovel from the car. He is a friendly but rather impatient muggle, so he obliged also without any luck. Maybe one day we will be back.
Camped nearby last night. Found this on our way out this morning heading for the French Line & Birdsville. Good views from the Knoll. Thanks for placing a cache way out here in middle of no where
Found it with TK2 at the beginning of a new adventure with some great friends, and got to see a camel , tftc
This is my second 5/5 and it truly deserves its rating, by the time I had gotten to this point I had had a stuffed tyre, a shattered canopy window and my power steering had dropped its oil and the oil fillercap had been lost, mind ,wurst was to eventuate. On the up side, the view was great and we'd just seen a Bull camel, tftc

A beautiful location for a cache. Found while crossing the Simpson from Birdsville to Mt Dare.
We spent 11 days and 10 nights in the Simpson Desert. What a wonderful, awesome place.
Found on our boys trip across the desert. replaced the container as it had started to break down.

Found on a run across the French Line in the Simpson Desert. Fascinating geology and amazing location. Had to move it due to new fencing by parks and wild life as it is now deemed a sensitive cultural area by the local people. See note. Thanks for the side trip to a beaut location.
Cache lid was damaged too so we replaced the lid only. Cheers from the Burton's

Central Australia trip Crossing the Simpson and Innaminka, August 2014. After many years away from the Oodnadatta track and Innaminka, it was time for a another tour. This time in Company with seven cars to tackle the obstacles. Caching opportunities were a little thin, but the ones that were out here are all in great places. Before heading up the Atolls I came over here to make sore I was able to find the cache. Now time for a climb. Thanks.

Heading across the Simpson with the Victorian Scout 4x4 Service Unit. And i was surprised that i was able to find a cache on each of the days i was in here. Not that i normally try to have a streak, but at the moment it is working great. Thanks for all the hides.
This was the 25th find of a total of 49 caches found by Boxer and 5 Vietnam veterans club member mates, on a 10 day trip up to Marree, then onto Mt Dare, across the Simpson desert to Birdsville, then back down to Marree, then home to Kadina. A very interesting and at times very challenging trip. Stopping to find caches helped break up the trip and get out and stretch the legs. Thanks for the cache hide.
Our group came through the Simpson Desert on our first ever remote 4WD trip. Fortunately other members of our party were much more experienced. Rig road and then up past The Approdinna Attota Knolls. Which we had to climb up for the views. Memories to last a lifetime!

We were on our trip across The Simpson Desert, in the rain. We tackled the Rig Road from the French line intersection, then Erabena Track, Waa line, and Knolls track. The rain actually made our trip easier, compacting the sand. We hadn't seen anyone since leaving the French Line. Last night, we camped on the Rig Road, with thunderstorms all around us. Rain, lightning, and thunder. The last 2 a little disconcerning when we were the highest bit of metal for hundreds of miles around.
Just before we got to this cache, we heard voices over the UHF, so at least we knew there was someone else out there. Then, we saw fresh tyre tracks in the wet sand.
All is good with the cache. Liberated the resident trackables.
Cheers

The sistema container had been gnawed on by something! I replaced a clip and its all good. TFTC
easy find although there are so many nasty spikes when you walk barefoot. This cache is a little more dingo proof in the tree. Also had a walk up the knolls and read about the dreamtime legends too. Thanks Mac and Missus. TFTC!!!

Love the Simpson Desert. Decided to collect the cache this time. We've been here before but always been in too much of a rush with the muggles in our group, but today we made time. Thanks for placing the cache here!

Found @ 13:15 on the way to the Birdsville Races via the Simpson Desert
Easy find. Seems the parrots may like caching too as it looks like a clip has been chewed off.

A quick detour for a quick find in this magical part of our country. Took nothing. Left a ??.
Just advising that when I sited the cache, there were no fences in area - hopefully will be in area next year, so if necessary will move cache. Ian Mac
A Belated entry found this one on my first trip across the the mighty Simpson desert. We drove the WAA line had it all to ourselves awesome trip. TFTC can wait to get back there one day.
Found while crossing the desrt with geo-Dad and five geo-uncles. We had lunch at the Knolls before attempting this one. GPS had us in the right spot for once and cache was quickly in hand. Took boomerang, left giraffe.
Number 21 on our trip around central Australia. This desert continues to amaze me.
Nazbug.

Cache found easily, although bit surprised crossing the fence line is needed. Attola knolls were nothing to what I have imagined them to be (for some reason) - good views from top though. TFTC.
This one proved difficult. I had a look on sunset before camping up on the intersection at the David Lindsay tree on the French Line.
Texted micaparamedic from the sat phone and confirmed it was missing. He'd done it a while ago and returned earlier this year to find it was no longer as left. The description stated buried which is a no-no anyway.
I doubled back a few km in the morning armed with new intel. Still no cache. Even tried probing the ground avalanche search style but hit nothing suggestive of a cache. I've replaced the cache based on my discussion with Gary in order to preserve these now hard to get approved desert caches.

We found a chewed up container with micaparamedic. No possibility to log it as nothing was left. We didn't have replacement boxes as we had replaced a few caches earlier and we were also running out of time so had to leave the location without replacing the cache. Sorry. Nice location .
We found this one at 4:20pm even though GeoMark is reluctant to go through fences! Took:Purple Blob. Left:Crocodile & pathtag.
The knolls were interesting to see and we would have missed these if not for the cache. It was actually as we were winding our way down to them that we met up with some folk retreating from the Rig road whom we had encountered when searching for Hot Pools 11 cache the day before. Consequently we camped nearby with them that night and travelled on together to Birdsville and really enjoyed their company!

Mac & Missus wish to thank The Barramundi's for replacing the cache container. Ian Mac
I brought along a new container painted black, put some new goodies in it and removed the broken and wet remains. As mentioned this is now on the inside of a fence but close to the road and shouldn't be problem.
Lots of rain around, I collected 18 litres of water last night off the annexe of our tent.
Cheers from Barra 1&2

Found no worries after climbing up the knoll for a look. never seen so much water here. The container was broken but everything was dry. tried to tape it up but it didn't work so it still needs replacing. TFTC
Dropped off Dad and our band of travelling muggle companions at the scenic spot for them to take in the views whilst Queen & GeoPrincess nicked back to pick up the cache. Easy find for the Princess.
Container has a split in it and as much as we had heaps of stuff in the truck there was no duct tape for repairs. Perhaps the next cacher can take a replacement container for this one. In the meantime we turned the split away from the elements to try to protect cache until the next thoughtful cacher comes along to assist this cache for its continuance.

Oh boy! another desert cache. Our plot is going to look very interesting. Thanks for this cache
Just got back from the adventure of a lifetime after travelling through Central Australia via the Simpson Desert with some new Scouting friends and managed to find a few caches along the way.
We had an awesome time in the desert which including sleeping and driving in our very own Desert Storm. This started the night before when we were camped at Poeppel Corner and I couldn't believe the places the sand can get into. I was worried I was going to get buried alive in my swag.
We drove through the sand storm to the Knolls where the winds must have been at least 45 - 50 knots, I quickly grabbed the cache and had a look around and we continued on to find somewhere to have lunch. We managed to get some food (including sand) into us and then the temperature dropped and the rain came.
Couldn't even get out of the cars at the Lone Gum Tree due the rain but I wouldn't change our experience of the desert for anything.
