Found during a hike along the pipe track. Solo hike so I could take my time. Loved this one or has all the classic cache factors: pick your approach, the CO says approach from pipe track untested, yep I'll go for that. The struggle is real. The cliffs aren't really ... Just the usual broken bush boulders. For my meagre skill level they were super easy, barely an inconvenience. It's pushing through the bush that's the killer here. Was happy to get to the top, poked around then saw what had to be cachesign, site enough the cache is right below. Thanks for placing and bringing me up here.Would recommend, if you're coming from the pipe track, go a bit further and take the path to Waterfall you can get a lot closer from the other side. But hey, you enjoy suffering, go ahead and climb from the pipe.

Walking from Waterfall to Heathcote after attending wazza9's community celebration event with b@w and PPE. Seems we went bush at the perfect spot and enjoyed a few short scrambles on our way to the top. Got a great surprise to see a 5000 finds GeoCoin in the container that a few grumpy colleagues chipped in for. Thanks guys! We enjoyed the spot so much that we took the opportunity to have lunch there. Awesome spot and the company wasn't too bad either Smile

Third cache of the day with more than 12 months of unloved AND this one fills one of the last 3 holes for my 10th fizzy loop. Gets a FP from me!

Out on a GOMs expedition to collect a bunch of caches in the Heathcoat area. This was a pleasant walk out along a the Bullawarra track except for the last 160m.
Crash made a good call on heading up and although a bit of bush bash the going was not too difficult. After finding the cairn the cache was soon in hand. Now to find our way down!!

A last moment confirmation that I would attend Wazza9's community celebration event thanks to a lift and plan to walk from Waterfall to Heathcote. So after spending some time at the event we headed along the track to this one. Some nice sections of bush and then a discussion on which approach to take. Crash had a possible tracked marked but when the GPS sai 160m from the track to the cache we decided to straight line approach. A good bash and scramble up. The cache was soon spotted and Crash picked up his 5000 find achievement coin. Signing duties done, a spot of lunch and then we continued on. We picked a new route down and soon found the main track again. TFTC

A good walk out on the pipe line trail with the geo gang. After finding cairn your find it, we continued on down the pipeline trail till the gps was directing us to go left. We bush bashed all the way to the top and took in the good view while signing the log. I picked up the geocoin, tftc

It was a perfect day for a bush walk, I had planned to pick up a few caches along the pipeline trail, this was number 2 of 3, having just picked up serinety, trekked it back up to the pipeline trail from lake ekersly, I followed the gps right down to about 150m to were it was telling me to take a hard left. Up the hill I went, it was a light bush bash the whole way until the last 20m were it was a rocky outcrop. I reached gz and found the stacked rocks, the cache was in hand soon after, signed the log tftc

True funny story follows. Arrived at Eckersley Road and walk down Mirang road trail. Took a quick look at the nearby Mirang campground and sat down at the picnic table on Pipeline trail for a quick break. Followed pipeline trail towards Gz. Realised where Gz was and took a photo just before the creek. Made my way up the track before deciding to bush bash the 150 m up the hill. Completely struggled through the bush and somewhere in between down the bottom to 30m to gz I lost my phone cable that charges my phone. Got 14m out from GZ where my phone went off. Finally close. I scouted around the left side of gz and chose a easy rock climb path where a burnt out tree was and made for the final ascent. My Shoes started making a flip flop noise .. oh no! So on the trepid journey I blew a damn tyre... my shoe almost lost its sole. Or I lost my soul to caching. Noooo!
Finally 3m out from gz. After a quick look and remembering other cachers photos I peered under 1 rock, no not there .. then another and there it was.
Waaaaahooo. Yes! I shouted out loud.. so glad to have found it. I don't know the caches name but I still shouted out loud.
I signed the log and made 2 swaps ... I put in a Peter Rabbit toy and a dinosaur for the lanyard and used that to tie my shoe together. I also took the camel... something to keep. I've moved the spor to gz for future finders. This will make it a tiny bit easier for future finders.
My story doesn't end there folks...I then made my way down from gz choosing a rather direct route down which could have been fatal. On the way out from the gz I completely lost my sole to my left shoe. Like .. are you kidding me. I managed to find the pipe line trail and exit the hill of terror. If some one finds my sole n cable keep it as an souvenir.
Log is dry. Log is half full. Which I'd be concerned about normally but only mad people or fizzy griders would go for this one. Container dry. Took plenty of pics from gz. Fave point for the view and brilliant location.
A single up yours gesture for taking my shoes n cable once I got off the mountain.
I realised that I was close to serenity and grab that cache too.

Out caching with DQ on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. How mean to have a path on OSM which doesn't exist anymore. At the end I approached it via the eastern side of the hill, 75 meters up in 150 meters distance. What a joy.... LOVE IT!

Please note that this cache got mentioned in Episode 3 of the Geocaching in Sydney podcast! [http://geocaching.sydney/podcast/index.php?episode=3](http://geocaching.sydney/podcast/index.php?episode=3)

I caught up with Brewmaker to get some caches near the Woronora River. We chose a very hot day, so were prepared to have a swim in one of the pools. There were a few options, but we headed towards KC from the Mirang Road Trail. On the way Brew mentioned that this cache was nearby. I saw a tall hill across the valley and stated that I bet the cache was at the top of it - way too hot and out of our league to tackle today.
As we got closer to KC, Brew said that this cache (being careful not to mention its name) was just a few hundred metres away, right on the edge of a level track. So off we trekked for a few hundred metres, only to find that we were on the wrong track. Back we turned and then we realized that my prediction was correct about the location of this cache. So up we headed.
It was a very tough bush bash - rocks, thick scrub etc. We were hot and sweaty and tired, and had to stop and take a few breaks. Then we hit a rock face, just below the top. Luckily I walked around and saw an easy way up. Once there we read the clue and headed towards a pile a rocks - but no cache. Nooooooo.
We were hoping that this wouldn't take a long search after the journey up. I walked just a few metres and saw another possible hiding place - and there was the cache. Praise the Lord. It hadn't been found in over a year, so what a great relief to find it. Signed out names and replaced it. Now - how do we get down?
We picked a straight line towards KC and the trip down was a lot easier - less thick bush and far more open. Just a few rocks. Finally we made it back to the Pipeline Track and continued our journey. TFTC, which I think should have a higher difficulty rating. Cool

On the hottest day this year (34 degrees!), Mikev1 and I decided to tackle a few of these caches around the area. Having parked at the entrance to Mirand Rd Trail, we made easy pace to the pipeline then along the Pipeline Trail until we reached the weir at Heathcote Creek. We saw it was only 300 odd metres away so took the Bullawarring Track option, as my GPS showed there was a track directly to GZ. [^]

And that's where things went wrong! I missed the trail entrance, so we back-tracked but couldn't see any obvious trail. So what's a serious geocacher do - bush bash of course! Uphill, through dense scrub, getting scratched all the way, until we reached the top, then rock-hopped across the ridge. [B)]

With the GPS showing only 10m to the cache, I spied a SPOR out in the open at the top. That's got to be it? Uncovered the pile - nope!! Then MV1 looked a little futher afield and immediately let out a yell of "I Found It!" that would have been heard across the valley. Woo hoo! After all the hard work to get there in searing heat it was such a relief. And it's still in good condition given it is 12 years old! I will never ever speak this cache name again! Big Grin

And over 15 months of unloved days as an added bonus! Great views from up here. Difficulty 1? Well there is nothing to solve I guess! But the terrain rating is deserved. There's no way I would want to do this on my own. TFTC, and thanks MV1 for persisting with our attempt to get here. Another one to tick off in this area. But we never saw that trail that was meant to lead us here, so we bush bashed again down to the pipeline. Now off to KC.... I think by the end of the day we had walked about 15km in over 5 hours. Boy, we were beat by the time we got back to the car. [xx(]

I think we approached this wrong because we just went through about 300 meters of dense bush. Thanks for this, left a holo eggsecutor Pokemon card

We went to Helensburgh today... wow! Here are some very awesome caches! Thank you for this cache, really enjoyed finding this! (:

11-May-15
After completing "Cairn You Find It", we headed across the pipeline to have a crack at this one. have been wanting to do it for ages, both for the name and the good memories of another of the CO's catches.

Having read other logs elected to just head up perpendicular to the cache from the pipeline. Though a lot shorter it made our previous bush bash look like child's play! Dense scrub that scratched like blazes the whole way up. All worth it though when we got to the spectacular view at the top. Found the cache easily, then admired the view once again before heading back down a slightly different but still very very tough way.

All in all a great morning's wander in the bush

Been out since 11 am now on this sunny/hot day. After finding 3300 and Engatrek, came across to this side o the highway to have a go at some of the caches along The Pipeline. Completed H2O and Cairn U Find It with still a few hours of daylight left and this one was on offer.
Being such a hot day, I was considering bailing as my last (of four, not including the litre or so I dumped at H2O) bottle of water is now residing about 60 metres below GZ at Cairn U Find It. It rolled off the ledge when I was signing the log. But figured having come this far, might as well have a go.
Rolled down to about S34° 5.842' E150° 58.617' where there's a 'drop' in the ground level. At this point you can take your bike under the pipes to the East side to hide it out of sight.
Then began the serious uphill. At times, the altimeter on the GPS was changing quicker than the distance-over-ground! But after much scrambling and shrub-wading (what ARE those prickly Australian native bushes??!), arrived at GZ just before sunset (top view!). And a well-stocked cache it is, too.
In: maze puzzle
Out: nothing
TFTC GEK - an FP for sure.

#994 (5 of 7 today)

Geowife was spending the day in the Shire and I took the opportunity to drive her there, and then do a little caching.

So I'm mounting the final assault on the Sutherland Shire Cachers’ Challenge. Four suburbs and one National Park left to grab. So, with the target caches picked out I had my day mapped out.

* * * END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION * * *

I'd picked up the four suburbs I needed, so now it was time for...

I'd been tossing up which Heathcote National Park cache to grab. None of them looked easy... Finally decided on this one as it had a D/T combo that I hadn't found yet - kill two birds with one stone.

Walked in the same way I'd attacked H20 and then kept going along the Pipeline trail. Easy so far.
Decided to attack GZ from the north, from the so-called Bullawarring Track. My, that track was rough and somewhat overgrown on spots - and only 7km to Waterfall apparently.

I'd noted that previous finders had stated they couldn't find the trail to GZ that appears on OpenStreetMap. I couldn't find it either. So bush bashed my way up the hill. Occasionally found clear paths, but was being shredded by the plants - maybe long sleeves would have been better.

Finally made GZ. The cache was a quick find - coordinates were good. And the view from the top was spectacular.

Looked for a different way down. Decided on the Western side - the immediate descent was easier and it was a shorter route back to the Pipeline trail.
In the end, the bush bash was similar, but much shorter. I checked the GPS at one point to see how far from the track I still was, and it had me on top of it. All I could see was bushed. But another 10 paces and I could see the pipeline itself.
Made the trail at pipe segment 761. Phew - nice easy drop to trail level there.

All easy from there back to the car even though I was scratched and weary, but happy to have succeeded.

And that completes the Sutherland Shire Challenge!

A favourite point for the location - despite the scratches required to get there and back.

After bush bashing down from "Cairn U find it" it was a walk along the fire trail to the shortest perpendicular distance to this cache. Over the pipe line, up the hill through the bush and soon the cache was in hand. On top of the hill we had lunch. It was about 11:30 so we had a decision to make. Would we go for "KC" or leave it for another day? After ringing home we got permission to stay out a bit longer so on it was. As we returned to the fire trail (commando style) we got some curious looks from some passers by. We explained geocaching to them. They remarked "that sounds nice". I can never tell if people are just being polite but secretly think I'm a weirdo.

I needed this one to fill in a d/t square. Set off via the eastern path described. Clouds are white and fluffy, except that little bit over there. Is that the sound of an aeroplane in the distance?
I followed the firetrail all the way down to the pipeline, and over a bridge spanning the creek.
Then I hit the bush! It was a tough scramble to the peak, but soon had the cache in hand. Just before receiving a call from home to buy milk on the way home. Some people just dont know the priorities!
Then thunder broke over the mountain and a downpour of rain to make my journey back more enjoyable!
Thats what geocaching is all about!

We added to our adventure by coming in via the ridge top some great views along the way and plenty of scrub TN LN

What a bush bash to GZ. Don't be fooled by topi map showing track from North to GZ. We crisscrossed over what should have been the track and found nothing.

This was another cache I have wanted to do for some time and achieved today with the help of CATONY.

An interesting track that I have not attempted before and nice to do instead of an out and return walk/cache run. A good little loop track after KC and a serious bush bash from the track to find a cairn pointing up the last rock climb and to see the cache in view straight away.

A great outlook from here as well.
Thanks GEK from bringing us here on a sunny winters day.

Teamed up with "pipes down under" today, we may have only found 2 caches today but cover about 14.5km`s in the process, a great day but sore legs & ankles later on!!!
We took the "through the bush" option to get this one, enjoyed the climb & views at the top.......but boy did we earn those stars of both the caches we found today, there`s still another traditional & 2 multis in the area we`d like to find so we`ll be back another day..........after a rest!

Second bushbash for the day! Although not as far (I think about 250 m) , the hardest bash because of the height of the bushes. Finaly up the views made up for all the effort!

I had the day off and after dropping the kids at school thought I'd go for a nice bush walk. This turned out to be a fantastic walk with a great view from the top but on a day like this is crazy! Didn't think it was going to get anywhere near this hot (34.5° at Heathcote according to weather.com.au), otherwise I would have left this one for another day. It wasn't that bad when I set off but once at GZ I even contemplated resting in a nearby cave until later but decided against it as I was pretty well prepared and so headed back to the car, which was parked at the Heathcote end of the Mirang fire trail about 4.5km away on the Princes Highway. The original plan was to do this cache and then head off to "Cairn You Find Me?" but that has now been postponed until winter!
A great cache but it's also great to be back home with the fans blowing!
Took TB, left TB.
Thanks,

After a bit of bush bashing and navagating around near the top, we eventually found a safe way to the lookout and cache. Thanks for placing the cache. Took nothing, but left a camel which we originally took from a cache at Mirima National Park - Kununurra (Western Australia). The Kombikids.

The best part about walking straight up a mountain, bush bashing through thick scrub and climbing the cliff at the end to reach the summit.
Is getting to the top. The view is awesome, especially good there ain't no one around. Cheers

Well after finding two other caches in the area this was to be the last for the day came in along the bullawarring track but walked to far and climbed up the side to GZ and had the goods soon after then had some lunch with the great views to look at on a nice winters day then bashed back down to the causeway and on to Heathcote thanks for the great day out......

Nice short walk to the top from the pipeline road. Had a swim at eckersley afterwards. Great day for it. 2/2 for the day.

18-Aug-07
What a great day for a walk and a couple of caches thrown in. We approached via the Pipleline road and then up the northern approach which in the end didn't look too much harder than other directions. We almost sat on the cache to fire up the GPSr and boil the billy for a hot coffee and lunch while enjoying the view and consider the nearby caches that we had decided could wait for another day. Left a mini carabiner and departed to the south which was easier mainly due to more traffic of some sort making the ground cover less of an obstacle - then on to Kookaburra. Heaps of wildflowers out already which made it a very pleasant day all round.

Returned with some bushwalking buddies for the superb views over the park. Let them find the cache.

17-Apr-07
The views from the top are superb! I walked in from the Bullawaring Track,( only about a few hundred meters of it from the Pipeline Track) then bushbashed up the slight hill. The scrub was not really thick, in fact it was fairly easy going, the last fires really cleared the undergrowth. Lots of black wood. Soon I was sitting on top of the boulders admiring the view. I had the cache in hand not long after.
Read through the log book, added my own, no swaps, replaced the cache then headed back down the same way I came. This was a nice diversion on my way back from KC.
Thanks for showing me another great spot!

06-Apr-07
After descending from the heights of a nearby cache it was a short stroll up the hill to another excellent spot. After leaving the track it was a couple of hundred metres through light scrub up to GZ. Quite straightforward and though we approached from the north the cliff lines barely warranted the name. There were excellent views from the top at the cache site. We’d intended to enjoy lunch here but with showers looming we headed down and back to the car.

It’s quite a nice area here with a couple of good caches that can be easily done in a few hours. We took a paperback book and left a CD. We also picked up the travel bug.

16-Sep-06
This is one spot to bring the family back to, provided I left them at the picnic spot at the bottom of the hill! The climb to the cache was worthwhile just for the views.
Left the Rovers TB. It seems an appropriate place to do so given that its about halfway between Heathcote Scout Camp and Camp Coutts at Waterfall.

Thanks for the cache!
best wishes,
Wal

I rode my MTB from the highway and stashed it in the bushes. I then made a quick dash up to the top of the feature and located the Cache, I took the TB.

It was then back down again to Cairn U Find It to.

The ride out was rough, the road needs grading!

No: 2 in my Waterfall trifecta. I took the wrong entrance track into this cache which wasnt really a problem it just meant a bit longer walk. Found the cache as the rain came down. Eyed off my next location, did my swaps and then was on my way. Thanks DG

Found By Pi and a bunch of semi-muggles.

Fantastic spot for a cache, yet another spot I would never had gone to if it wasn't for a cache.

A group of us did the Bullawarring Track walk. We parked the cars at Heathcote Station and caught the train to Waterfall. After enjoying a really lovely walk we made the diversion up to the top of Battery Knob via the saddle on the southern side. Luckily the track comes reasonably close to one of the lower parts of the saddle.

The views from up on the knob are exceptional, and it is well worth the effort. Found a survey marker not far from the battered trig. Did the cache stuff, had a bit of an explore, off-trailed back down to the track and we were down at the Causeway in pretty quick time. From here we went around to Lake Eckersley for lunch. A bunch of noisy scouts were there and we made our way further down the river finding a nice quiet spot to rest.

The walk out was pretty easy. We headed back to Heathcote along the Pipeline Road (boring) and then up Scout gully (nice track), which brings you out not that far from Heathcote station. I highly recommend doing the Bullawarring Track this way around. As is our tradition we headed to the cake shop before heading home.

TNLNSL.

Thanks for showing us this great location,
Pi (Mike).

Followed Swag agg's route over 7.5kms to this one....walked it, took about 2 hours return. Took a CD, left a keyring and tri-bandage. Now I know what's at the top of this peak. Thanks DG for the exercise.

An early morning one for me. I came in from Heathcote via the Mirang Rd fire trail. It's an easy ride in but an uphill grind on the way back. Started on the Bullawarring Track then an assault directly up the cliffs. No great dramas except for getting blackened from the burnt out trees. Co-ords were spot on. Took torch. Left CD. Thanks Gunmen. Just what I needed - a bit of forced exercise.

After a hard day at the beach I need to do something a bit more active than watching naked women. It’s strange when you get first timers to the beach they are always a bit shy at first then they get into it. Take this group of girls who turned up today, all in their twenties and rather good looking. They where all a bit shy at first but once one took their gear off they all soon followed. Then they seemed to spend the rest of the day rubbing oil or something onto each other making them nice and shinny.
Quick blatt to the base of the knob on the MTB then onto the summit once again without oxygen and the excellent cache was soon in my sweaty and black hands. So after the cache stuff made the summit and took in the panoramic views before spotting a couple of blokes swaggering along the track below. So after donning the Yowie suit I made my way stealthily done the mountain to lay in wait. Got bored waiting and I had an ice cream promised if I could get back within an hour so I was off. Then spotted them again on the track as they appeared to be looking for the way up the knob but I was off as I had to grab my bike and get my ice cream.
Caching is becoming fun again with being able to paddle to caches yesterday and ride to one today keep up the great work everyone.
Took DVD.
Left DVD.
P.S. Did not get the icecream, the other half ate it (and it was a hazelnut magnum!)
