I've looked at this cache sooo many times over the years, but have never quite made then find.
This time last year I was in the area and had brought my kayak, but it was bitterly, bitterly cold and raining - it ended up dumping quite heavy snow in the Blue Mountains. I got some other caches on that day but wussed out.
Today the weather was beautiful and I had a very enjoyable paddle. Gradually the metres counted down until they were in single figures. Drifted up to a likely spot, but it was empty. Bit the bullet and got out in calf deep water and checked all around. Nothing. Hmmm. Start looking through the logs, and spotted the CO's recent entry & photo. Identified the log they took their photo on (which was right next to a good spot), but just couldn't find the cache. Expanded out further and further until my feet were numb, and had to concede.

Alas
Was I. Work clothes and although I'd got the yak out and boar dies on, still paddled out in black shoes and striped shirt.
Turned the corner and saw a whole lot of mud so will come back at high tide I think!

What an awesome cache! This has involved an 'early' Sunday morning SUP. More exciting than usual as if I fell off, I risk loss of iPhone out of pocket. Challenge of ferry wash and current through channel but entirely worth it. Cache in great nic (newly renovated), some great stuff but brought nothing so took nothing. Couldn't sign log as no pen . Saw a massive ray on the way here. Thanks so much for placing and maintaining!
cache check completed, container replaced. new log book and a few items to get this one restarted again.
will do a cache check today, i had totally forgotten this one needed checking.
will replace with a new container if this one cant be found. suspect that the recent Island cleanup, may have removed it without realizing what it was.
Pesky!. - any excuse to get out on my kayak!

Oh man this was frustrating! I do wonder if the reason it hasn't been found in almost a year is because it isn't there? I have had a good look in every hollow tree within 25m of GZ and nothing! There are several likely spots, and I recognise areas from photos so I think I'm close but damned if I can find it! There's been several major storm events since the last find - and a heap of low lying caches were lost in the April storms of 2015, so I wonder if this was a victim? Please check.
I did enjoy the paddle out here though.

With the morning free to do a few caches, I decided to return to this one today as I had passed by it last week, but there were simply too many muggles about on the water to be bothered trying to get to GZ. Got up nice and early, and while the tide was a little on the low side, it was still just manageable to get to GZ without having to get the feet wet. Enjoyed the short paddle to the cache, but boy oh boy that mud sure did smell. Once signed, it was back to the car to go and find another kayak cache. Nice to have finally got around to doing this one.

Like Jeff, I have been looking to do this one since I started, but unlike Jeff, I have had the means for getting to GZ well before day one! Not really sure why I hadn't done it earlier, but with the kayak on the roof for a West Tigers Fan cache up the road, it was finally time to get around to this one. Somehow the day had flown by and it was 4pm! Raced in to get a couple of scollops from the shop. Too hot to eat so a quick unloading and paddle to GZ. Ate my now adequately hot food and oranges with CIOH (cache in other hand!) Good read of the log and a swift paddle back to the car. TFTC!!!
I've been looking at this one ever since I started caching, but have only just acquired the means to access it. Launching the geoyak from the Lions Park boat ramp just before high water, I had calm conditions and a favourable current heading down towards the gap between islands, with the only other watercraft being a couple of fishermuggles in a tinny. Paddling into the inlet, I was glad I chose high water to visit as I would have been walking a fair bit of the way otherwise! A likely hiding place was spotted where my GPSr was saying zero metres, and once the guardian huntsman made his inspection and retreated, the cache was easily retrieved without having to leave the yak.
Log signed, I paddled around the inlet for a bit before heading back through the passage, only to have to stop and wait for the Lady Kendell, Davistown ferry and another smaller vessel to pass by. I didn't quite time my journey to perfection as the current was still flowing in, but hugged close to the shore and wasn't too impeded. All in all a great morning's paddling and good to see this long-standing cache still in excellent condition. Many thanks.

Santa is coming. Santa came. Santa gave me a kayak. Yeah I can finally get that little geo sitting there in the water. Being our first ride we went with the end of the incoming tide from st Hubert's. Cache found and log signed. Home again with the out going. Thanks for the cache.
The same as dlturner, Santa brought me a kayak!!! As we got onto the water at st Huberts I suggested we go right, then mother said nar we should go left woy woy isn't a far. Then it clicked, I saw her put a pen in her jacket, she wanted to get a geo.
Glad to have finally ticked found it on this one. TFTC.

I'd been eyeing this one off for a long time. I've driven past this little island for years and have always wanted to explore it. Knowing that there was a cache here allowed me a good enough reason to do so!
I'd planned to do this a little earlier today but due to the heat I left it until the evening. I parked near the Spike Milligan Bridge and loaded up my kayak there. There were a number of people fishing, they must be biting at the moment. I paddled down past the oyster leases with the wind at my back. Even though it was later in the day and the sun was setting, the breeze was still quite warm for this time of year.
As I neared the GZ I spotted the likely hiding place. So simple, and seems to have lasted the test of time! I have a few of these containers which I stole from a friend to use in some of my upcoming cache's (when I find spots for them). I quickly signed the log and placed the cache back into position.
The paddle back into the wind wasn't as enjoyable and was much more work. I had planned to paddle across to the Horsefield Bay cache from the Spike Milligan Bridge also but after having to paddle into the breeze and the choppy water I decided to attempt it another way.
It was nice to finally tick this one off the list!
TFTC cheers

Wow, the SECOND of targeted canoeing caches while heading South from Taree this trip. It was a lovely 'evening'/morning paddle out with Cookie to grab this one. As we swapped the log book between us we just drifted a little bit away from the cache, but the tide was kind to us.
Think I may have left a ziploc bag here.

0320 GAFF1 After an aborted solo attempt ~ 10 months ago - when the inflatable 'craft' wouldn't inflate it was great to have company this time, with proper canoes, to make the first May "Found it" at this cache for almost 8 years!
If the local residents were up they would have wondered what on earth we were doing.
Think we got the tide right, as the retrieval wasn't too bad at all, and just drifted around a bit while sitting in the canoes writing in the log book.
Think I left a Correct Site Marker - surgical marking pen.
Brought through for mileage: 3 Bros, Aust Light Houses, B 2 B ingot, I Bashed at MidWest 2007, Iconic Bridges, Just Monkeying Around Oz, Little Moo, Trackabulldog, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, and trackable shirt.

Have had this one on our list for some time, nice spot great day thanks to the Geomonkeys for the cache. Fav awarded.
Leaving the Horse Field Bay cache behind, I was now tac-ing into a 9mph head wind and not getting anywhere fast. My new sail was taking some getting used to but I highly recommend kayak-sailing to everyone. I found over all on my afternoon's outing that a higher average speed is the new norm with more rest times
Looking back I think I could of just paddled a straight line up to Spike Milligans Bridge easier than all the tac-ing, but it was peaceful and slow. I was longing for a bit more wind but it never happened. With the speedboats, skiers, and now fishermen at the bridge past, I had about 800m still to go.
Guess what, the batteries are now beeping at me.....I sped to the cache at full steam, quite a obvious spot and accurate GZ I'm glad! SL and I was off this time downwind albeit at only 5mph Grrr took slow....lol
Almost back at the launch ramp and I'm hearing thunder....o-oh....faster.....I hit the beach and it starts to rain, arghh my back, my bum, and now I'm all wet packing up too, isn't caching great

Well another great GeoMonkey cache, Great day for a paddle never got my feet wet TFTC
Aborted 2100 before I started. Was 'blowing up' a killer whale (reminiscent of Mangrove Mania, GC1D5GP) when I noticed a considerable hole in the orca. Another day (or night)
Located 3:05 PM with Skypirate~ and AuroraEve on kayak wasn't too hard I felt around in bottom hole and thought about the top part, Skypirate who was on the other side confirmed the container. The contents was in remarkably good shape given the location. We took nothing but left a golf ball. TFTC Part of our ANZAC day rafter noon activity.
Man! Did we have a kerfuffle finding this one! As we didn't use Google maps to give us a little bit of an idea. And with the help of super low tide, we tried every possible way in as the main entrance was too low for our kayaks. We thought it was on the island closest to the fisherman's wharf so we landed there and searched around until our GPS said about 60m in complete mangrove. No way through. So we went around the island and parked our kayaks were we thought it was too shallow (actually about 10cm deep). We got out and tried walking along the oyster ridden (in crocs), northern side of the previously mentioned island and found that the GPS was telling us it wasn't even on this island! So we trudged back to our kayaks. I got back in and thought I'd actually try paddling in the 10cm deep water. After much struggling, I shipped my kayak on the right shore with GZ only metres away. Thanx for a good workout GeoMonkeys!
Awesome fun this one. The kids got new little kayaks for Xmas so we decided to put them to use and paddle across to find this one. There were a lot of families enjoying their New Years Day picnics and I hoped they weren't watching my antics too much. The kayak was way too small for me and it kept filling with water. I was praying I wouldn't fall out or sink into all that yucky weed. Thankfully I stayed afloat and we were able to locate the cache immediately. I rarely get to do any water activities so this paddling around was most enjoyable. Thanks for a great cache Geomonkeys.
Got up early and decided that with the holiday drawing to a close it was now or never for this one. The tide was not perfect and there was a little breeze. Jumped into the kayak at Wagstaffe and set off on the a paddle. Looked at the GPS and it said 5km as the crow flys.
Navigated against the tide at the RIP bridge ok and pushed on. It was near low tide as I approached GZ the kayak dragged on the reeds so a kayak is definately the craft of choice. Paddled up with in a few meters of GZ and found the ground not too muddy or soft to make a quick grab. Cache was high and dry. SL. Now for the big paddle back just to ensure I earnt all the stars!
Arrived back at Wagstaffe (Pretty Beach Jetty) and had a look at the GPS stats. The paddle and cache grab and sign was done in just under 2 hrs and the distance covered was a little over 12.6km so a good bit of exercise.

I really liked the Kayak getting to this place. We were in a blow up boat so we couldn't get in shallow water. We were very close to the cache when we had to walk to the cache. I didn't like the walk though the water because I couldn't see where my feet was. I tripped a bit but caught my balance. The geodog was on the other Kayak. TFTC
Got the kayak out today which we haven't done for a while so it was enjoyable to get out on the water and find a cache at the same time. Good cache well worth the paddle. Contents safe and dry. Even the GeoDog got on the kayak even though she really doesn't like water.
Thanks for taking us here

Found this with Puddleboys from S.A. Had lots of fun in our kayaks on a perfect day. Needed Garmin GPS. Also good solid water footwear. Thanks for the tips. Great Cache.
(:D) Found this with the Team Banzos.
To all the teams who found this prior to us THANK YOU for the advice. Shoes, High tide, Kyak and a good GPS made this cache achievable first visit.
This made for such a great adventure with Goegrandies, Geo M @ D and Geokids. Thanks GeoMonkeys we loved this one!

Third time lucky! Yay! Found it finally. First time we came in a motor boat......too big....second time the boat pulled some kayaks and we had a go, but were using Bruwstera's iphone's gps and didn't get close. This time we were up at Woy Woy and had a break in the weather, so pulled out the kayaks and had a wonderful morning paddling along. Unfortunately the tide was going out and I didn't take shoes, but I was determined to find it....and was successful! Thanks GeoMonkeys for the brilliant cache.
Found by Bruwstera & Stampy. It took us 2 attempts but we eventually found it. My First Kayaking Cache and wont be my last. We had a wonderful time paddling around this beautiful area. TFTC. TNLN. Many Thanks
I disembarked dad's boat directly opposite the boat ramp, and walked an extra 200m through swamp in thongs, not a good idea. eventually got back on track and made the find[^] TNLNSL
Oh dear this was a eventful cache... I paddled there at low tide of all things, and without any shoes but I was able to climb a log haha so thanks for a wonderful cache geomonkeys!
I'm updating Caches from GPS so not sure of exact date. Love Merimbula though.
Visiting for the weekend, lucky I brought my kayak. My timing wasn't good it was low tide on a rainy day, had to push, pull, slide and carry thtough knee deep mud. But got there eventually. Took TB, TFTF.
We've paddled around the island many times but never been to the area near GZ. It's an excellent cache for our 80th find. Took TB and left TB, although room was a bit tight. Many thanks GeoMonkeys for placing this one in such a great position.
Altaire and I set off on a glorious sunny day. The pelicans were plentiful and a delight to watch. We paddled in amongst the mangroves and discovered this hidden oasis. It was very peaceful.
Only one other kayaker was around and very soon we were at GZ. This was a great little hide. The cache is very dry considering its location. Good one Geomonkeys. Extracting the geocaching bag and signing the log seemed to be the trickiest bit of all as i balanced everything delicately on the kayak. The slight breeze insisted on pushing me away but I clung on to some support. Soon the caching business was complete and we paddled further amongst dappled light through this unique wetland area.
Left the Smiley World TB.

Today was sunny and warm and thus a perfect occasion to undertake some maritime caching. Together with Tronador we travelled up to Woy Woy and proceeded to launch our little armada of kayaks. Though they were whitewater craft they were nevertheless suitable vessels for the short voyages we envisioned this lovely day. So with appropriate nautical cries, waving of cutlasses and eye patches askew (at least one of our number being a renowned pirate) we set course for some naval glory.
It was an enjoyable paddle across the channel through the mangrove labyrinth to WZ (water zero – it’s a nautical term) and very soon our kayaks were nuzzling the obvious hiding tree whilst we carried out the caching duties, endeavouring at the same time not to drop everything in the water. Excellent cache. It’s great to do ones like these which are that little bit “different”.

Ended up doing a lap of the island and getting as muddy as a shag! Was fun. Found all sorts of old bottles and Oyster farming trays. Took bottle left puzzle. Thanks! Woyboys
This was my first kayaking cache. It was soooo much fun. I (Mummy 'C')headed out for my usual weekend training paddle but had decided to try and do a waterbased cache as well. I started out from Davistown and it was a beautiful (if chilly) paddle to GZ. A few kayaking muggles around, but they soon passed by and I found the cache quickly. As it was high tide I paddled right up to it and retrieved it easily without even having to leave my kayak (which is named 'C' - can you guess why?). Signed log, exchanged items, took photos, had a quick drink and was on my way again. This was sooo much fun - thankyou for taking me on this little adventure. I wish there were more like these around (easily accesable, waterbased caches).

Nice easy find. Was able to paddle allthe way up to it. It ended up about 8 metres away from where I was looking for it last weekend. Was a nice morning so went for a bit more of a paddle. Thanks GeoMonkeys
Put the boat in the water, turned on the GPS and it died. A found some batteries in the car but they were just a useless. Got to near where I knew the cache was and tried looking anyway but too many places it could be hidden. Will Be back
Was going for a paddle anyway so I though I would have a look at this one. The tide was down which did not help. Paddled over to the island and had a walk around but that did not get me close enough. There was a lot of mud between me and the cache. So decided to paddle around the island to see if I could get any closer. At low tide because of the Oyster leases you have to paddle all the way down to the boatshed restraunt at Koolewong. So ended up being a fair distance. My GPS stoped working after this and had to go back in for warrenty repairs. Also bad eye problems ment I could not do any caching ( or much else) for a few months.
Met up with Shifters and Liz & Bruce again for another mission. Jumped into the vessel and proceeded to the cache at blinding speed (1.8 knots) Cache was an easy find and in good condition. Co-ords are also spot on. Great cache Pesky, I've been wanting to grab this one for a while. Also a big thanks to Shifters for providing the transport.
After yesterdays success with Smugglers Cave we decided to tackle another water accessable cache. Knowing that the cache was surrounded by mangroves we decided to leave the inflatable at home and take our fibreglass dinghy instead. Setting out with COD and Bruce again, we paddled across the Woy Woy Channel and up the creek directly to the cache location. The coordinates were spot on and we retrieved this one quickly.

Thanks for an interesting journey.
After finding our sea legs yesterday, we were full of enthusiasm to progress on to another couple of caches where a sea voyage was required. So after getting suitably organized with regards to craft, tactics etc we headed off with Shifter Brains and COD. So three men in a tub were off to seek treasure (see photos below with Shifter Brains log). After a few rude comments from onlookers "like watch out for crocs" and "couldn't you afford a bigger boat" they headed off. About 40 minutes later they returned to land - with a thumbs up sign to show they had been victorious. TNLN. Thanks Geomonkeys.
Its been months since I've had time to complete a cache. This was a good one to renew my enthusiasm however - and a chance to test my new kayak out.
I've attempted once before - but my boat can't get within koowee of the location, even on a high tide so I've not been back since.
Cache is still inplace and undamaged. I'm glad I came in a shallow draft vessel this time - didn't like the look of the mud and weed bottom at all, esp with all the oyster shells around.
A few decent size crabs have taken up residence in the hide location though - so watch those fingers! scared the buggery out of me when I reached in for the container and a crab got me instead!

At first I thought Riptide must only be 5’ tall as the mud was only shin deep … later I realised that they are actually 8’6†when I was groin deep in the mire.
Lessons;
1. Land above water not too bad but many oysters so enclosed sturdy shoes were a good recommendation from the GeoMonkeys .
2. Wet areas with no weed next best option.
3. And contrary to my expectation the weeded areas can be as deep as!
4. I should have been more confident in my canoeing adventure and taken that oyster knife !!!!
Great spot Pesky! A great day out. Left crazy bone, took crazy bone. Used the decision maker key ring but apparently “Can’t Say†was the uncertain advice.
Now if I can just figure out how to remove that mud smell …..
Lessons;

I was passing by this morning and as it was high tide thought I might check cache is OK as no one else has been here. This time I was able to get to the cache without leaving the tinny
My first cache for the year.Left home at 6am for a 19km tinny ride up to Woy Woy from Pittwater but found low tide was not a good idea. Got within 140metre from gz with the boat then the last 70metre through knee deep mud but found the cache easily at 7:10am.
