Took a long way back to town but couldn't find cache although in the right place. Now see we needed to update our info
Have moved out of the area and cache is well outside the easy maintenance run distance. Picked it up today.
A lady stopped as I was getting out of the car to check I was ok, indicated yes, and she moved on, found the cache ok, clue helped as it was raining, tanks!

very very cool! Tanks for bringing us here! Tanks very much for the cache!
#731
Caused a minor traffic jam once we pulled over near the tank blocks, a car suddenly appeared right in front, and simultaneously another car turned up right behind – all three vehicles performed a delicate manoeuvre so that every one could get pass without incident[^]. Who said deserted gravel country roads didn’t have peak hour traffic! After that, finding the cache was a bit of an anti-climax.
Nice hide, but contents and logbook damp.
Out Kiwi of the last cache TB (starting to catch a chill)

Quite a slog up and over by mountain bike but well worth the effort. Left the "Kiwi of the last cache" to take a turn guarding the post.
Interesting history here.Luckily met no other vehicles on this road! Took Porshe TB. Thanks
This was really worth the visit. Great bit of history, never seen one of these before. Thanks for bringing us here. The road seems to have improved as its only the last 3 kms or so now that are narrow. Managed to turn around near the cache site!! TFTC
Mr. K found it quickly after I somehow managed to look right in its spot yet still miss it. Thought the tank trap was very interesting, and the drive (came in from the east, left via the west) was really nice, some very beautiful views, though the road had some long narrow bits - fortunately the only vehicle we passed happened to be at a wider bit in the road, otherwise it could have been interesting!
Nothing in, nothing out. Log signed.
Loved it!

nice easy find, great bumpy gravel road, bringing back memories from my childhood of old country roads... nice clear insructions, nothing in or out.
Visited this cache on way back from Raglan this holiday Friday. No sign of "Travelling World of Geocaching 2006 Geocoin" in cache though. Left My Porsche geocoin.
Visited with Callum&Brenda, Tobiasnz and Taniwha. Road was in excellent condition with signs of recent widening near Eastern end. Always love these older gravel roads.

Thank for the memory for my 500th cache in just over the year.
Came in from the east . road had large slip which the car just got passed. Road had been closed. Worst road I have every been on. Glad no one came the other way.
21st cache of 29 for the weekend

Man is this off the beaten track. Found it and out Magnifying glass and in McDonalds toy. Thanks for an interesting cache
Started to come in from the Hamilton and noticed a Road Closed sign, ignored it until I came up against a barrier across the road when still 2.5km away. I then decided to try coming in from the Raglan end. Even though there was a Road Closed sign I decided to chance my arm and kept driving. I was able to get to the cache with no bother but found another barrier across the road at the top of the hill.
TNLNSL.
Cheers for the cache.

Found today easily with Geo-Goober, cache was a little wet inside due to crack in the lid, had some tape aboard the tartus so we repaired it the best we could, and put the logbook into another plastic bag

Tank you very much, Squeekybobo! I had the whole countryside to myself and parked up inside the trap with the flashers going. Not a soul for miles. It was worth the trip off the beaten path. TNLNSL Cheers
A great place to step back in history, and realise how serious our predecessors took the possibility of an invasion!
Thanks for the tour off the beaten track. We continued right through the road, and found an old guard's wagon sitting in a paddock.

Yay! We actually found it this time. Very interesting place. Love the remoteness! We took a small rugby ball and left a pack of balloons. We were going to put a travel bug/mobile cache here but it wouldn't fit so we put it in the one at Raglan.
Quie interesting (although is hard to imagine tank-led
invasion force descending on Whatawhata!). Thanks for
this, did on day trip to Raglan (which was very busy).
TNLN, cheers.

Not that it's not there, rather, we couldn't find the road to turn off to find it. There was a research station and a sign that mentioned [something or other] Trap (I think it was Barretts Trap). But the gate was locked. We felt a bit uneasy driving up to the research station in case it was someone's home.
A bit of a clarification of the turn-off point would be nice Will go and GoogleEarth this and see if I can work it out for next time we're around there.

5.00pm. Easy find. Fascinated by the tank trap and the need for such a thing on the road in question.

Thanks to Squeekybobo for picking up sending me Scout Rats number so that I could log his move to here
Nice easy find. Weather was dismal today so made the road trip interesting.
Took nothing but left TB Scout Rat which I picked up earlier in the day from Yardley's Bush. Forgot to write down his TB Ref Number so can't log his trip to this cache.
I wonder how effective that tank trap would have been.
Thanks

Went back with the kids. Took marbles and left 3 pencils.
Thanks for the history and the cach!

That's a nice drive. Got lost twice and travelled up another rough road to find locked gate at the end. Finally found it.
Easy, scenic find when using a 4x4, some difficult cambers for cars (particularly if low slung).
TB Millee came for the ride and posed on the tank trap with the cache. Surf's Up definitely not at home.
- kiwi keyring
+ miniature magnifying glass in cover

Contents were a little damp from a split in the lid, which I taped up. Thanks for the alternate route and the history lesson.

Glad I did not wait until I was down driving the Auckland Tramping Club Bus. Road had just been graded so was like marbles so left some in the cache. TB Surfs up was not at home , gone walk about.

Very interesting. It doesn't seem like that would be much of a barrier to a tank if all that goes in the slot is a couple of logs. Why wouldn't the enemy force just remove the logs? Good thing it was never tested! This is a very special cache for us, because it was our dog who actually found this one. We have a keen pointer with a super sniffer who is able to find all kinds of things by scent. We've been having a discussion lately about how great it would be if he could find caches. It might have been blind luck that he uncovered this one, but it gives us inspiration to train him for real! Is that cheating? Dropped off surf's up TB. No ocean waves here, but he can surf the waterfalls next to the cache all the way back to Raglan.
Never had a "first to find" and thought that this was going to be it. Visited at lunchtime from Hamilton only to find that someone had been there the day before! Never knew there were tank traps in the Waikato so was an interesting visit. Coordinates seemed to be spot on. Thanks. In: Pack of cards, Out: Screwdriver set
Ya Found it!
First time being the first to a cache! Interesting place. Came up the gravel road in a Mini Moke, really exciting!
Had slight problem with waypoint it was about 50m out, it may have just been GPS gone wrong but these waypoints may help.

Had a great day out!
