Day 1 of my 2.5 weeks road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. A leisurely morning sleeping in & packing up. Left midday. Stopped here supposedly for a rest break early evening. Wet overnight rains arrived now.Solved this Terminator 2 puzzle, from our geomobile. Came over and it did take me a while to find the camouflaged container. Noted some clues in case I ever try to finish this series. Thanks SteelRat for my 2115 geocache find.
I've had this one solved for quite some time and with a couple of days of work up this way and a car at my disposal, I figured that I'd give it a shot. I'm not sure what was harder, finding my way to GZ or finding the cache once I was there. Nevertheless, a bit of concentrated searching, not to mention a healthy squiz at the hint ?, finally had me with the stash in hand at 14:50 to open our account for July. Now to find my way back to the car. TNLNSL, although our geocaching licence geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks SteelRat.
Solved this a while ago. In the area today. Getting to it was a problem though. Ankle deep water the way we went in but found a better route out
Hello SteelRat thank you for the cacheI solved this one before coming up.A nice easy find while returning from the Grand Daughters birthday partyI found this cache during our Newcastle 2024 trip to see the grandchildren.Found on Saturday, 13 April 2024 at 1635**TFTC**
A day outing chasing a few labs and solved puzzles heading towards Newcastle a destination where we have never cached before. This oldie wax on our to do list after it being in our solved list for such a long time. Today the hide was tricky to find even though we knew what type it was from spoiler pix. We searched and searched and then the male Triton realised he was practically standing on it.Thanks SteelRat for the mystery placement.
En route to Sydney for a few days. We set out bright and early this morning to allow plenty of time to tackle all of the caches we had on our itinerary for today. Our journey down was rather smooth sailing with the worst of the rain staying away and we managed to successfully locate all but one of the caches we attempted.Solved this puzzle years ago, obtained the correct coords after some targeted googling. Have seen the movie a couple of times. Very unusual type of hide, only see it on these older caches (20 years old later this year!)Thanks for the cache
We solved this and had planned to log on the Raymond Terrace junket. But it was after lunch at Newcastle, ruzzelz suggested we swing past here.
After stumbling around, then checking previous logs and a spoiler pic, we realised what the problem was. This cache falls outside the Geocaching Guidelines. That makes it difficult to locate. What seems odd to me, is the NSW Reviewer lives nearby? Oh, well.
Eyes down if you're searching for this cache

Detoured to this cache on the way out of Port Stephens after a family holiday, as I wanted it for my Ausmer/Jasmer.
Left the muggle parents at the car and headed into the bush.
I'd seen a photo of what I was looking for but it still took a while and a bit of kicking around the ground before I uncovered it.

Visited nearly 2 years ago, but was not the day for us. I had solved it a lot earlier than that. Today I came better prepared, and its been a bit drier lately, so the swampy conditions should be better. I parked up the corner, and wandered down the road till opposite, then ducked in and made my way over. Last time i was here, there was a fence, and i could see the remains of said fence, but its now on the ground. 2Pods gave me that tip today, as they visited, but did not venture too far in. So finding GZ, after a very casual walk, i found nothing. Extended the search out to a radius of 15M, and still nothing. Ventured out further to some of the bigger specimens, but nothing. Read some logs, and i dont know about the track they speak of, but none of it was any help, except for the maintenance logs. This cache has been to World War 3 and back by the sounds. Read the hint, and I have not seen one anywhere at all. The ground is just sand, so do not really expect to see any. That maintenance log i mentioned, talks about a time line, that may help, so i found that, and Oh Look at that. Now i sort of know what i am looking at, i head back to GZ. I am standing at a tree 2M from it, and just scoping the area, as it is relatively clear. Then i spot it. You dirty rat! (Gangster speak) I had known that the previous visitors had logged DNF's, but figured they were newbies. Well, done myself proud. TFTC, the series, and i think i still need one more. Fav from me, even if the hide is a little dodgy. The log is quite damp, surprisingly.
No luck today, and to add salt to the wound we accidentally walked into a swamp on the way out thanks anyway!
No luck for us today. Searched for 10 minutes and then searched a little more. Thanks for bringing us here regardless.
TFTC.We are visiting friends in Salt Ash for a few days. A lovely day so we spent some time exploring the area using Adventure Labs and caches as a guide. Missed this the first time but when circling the indicated GZ spotted the hide. Clever.
3 for 3 for the series so far today. Found with APCBB. This one hide was well hidden. GPS jumping all over!
Out with TeamEdwards today on the riddle of the rat series and it’s 3for3 so far probably the hardest one to find so far so well camouflaged in it’s little bunker.
We have had this one solved for sometime. Driving past today so stopped to get this cache. TFTC SteelRat
Was in the area today, but not dressed suitably for this type of cache today. And it being so wet of late, the ground and flora are soaked. Just not up to it. I will be back. OH yeah, the mozzies, i think i was breathing them
Crikey! As I closed in I began to think that I'd stuffed up somewhere. But then at GZ oh gee there it is?! Nice area around here. Never been around here before. TFTC and puzzle, SteelRat. That's my second one of the series and my 1200th find overall. Taken us about 8 months to find the last hundred.

Found it. Coords were spot on.A litte bit of moisture in container but log sheet is in good order. Dried container. No muggles here but plenty of spider webs to navigate. 2nd one down. TFTC SteelRat.
Found this afternoon with Beary_Unicorns, that's the 3rd one done, now for the final, which I will be attempting when I get my next day off work. TFTC
Came and grabbed this one on our way home from a nearby function, enjoyed the cache too, good excuse to watch a movie

Picking up a mate from Newcastle airport as he got stranded in Melbourne yesterday and there were no available flights to Sydney until tomorrow. Saw that I had this solved puzzle in my todo list, I just had enough time for this detour before the flight arrived. Grass along track was nearly knee high before making my way cross country for the last 50m or so. Initially didn't see anything promising and with time quickly running out I went for the hint and the timeline photo. Phone kept spinning me around in circles but then out of nowhere, I stumbled across the bunker. Signed log and took note of the clue. Just made it to the airport as the plane landed. "I'll be back" for the remainder of this series another time.

Parked where suggested & off we trekked, high-stepping through the ferns. Sig found the bunker & the clue was recorded. FP awarded for the series & the effort put in. I don't mind Arnie's movies! TB Walkabout Kangaroo has been rescued from the summer fires & is travelling with Mr Knexpert so is no longer here. SL TNLN TFTC SteelRat

Stopped by here on our way back from Medowie. We eventually got to GZ after a reasonably difficult walk from the car (thick grass and debris made it very hard), and had a look at the picture of the new cache, which gave us a better idea of its location. We had a look around and spotted the nicely concealed cache in its cool bunker. We wrote down the numbers and signed the log, and returned to the car to go home.
Having carefully crafted a more fire resistant bunker, the newly upgraded Terminator 2 cache is back online.
I strongly suggest that you check the timeline image for a location clue.
Here's hoping that this one gets a few more years before the next big catastrophe.

Stopped off for maintenance, hoping to clean out the container and restock it.
While the glass and metal were still sound, if a little scorched, the weather proof seal has gone the way of the contents and is no longer.
I have fully removed this cache for now, and hope to replace it in full very shortly.
I'm beginning to think this spot needs a concrete bunker.

Following a few notes after the recent fires, it would seem this cache needs to be temporarily disabled pending a replacement/restocking.

I had been putting of finding these caches as the movies are not really my kind of movie but I really want to find the final cache in the series so sucked it up and watched the movie last night and today Mr Minion and I came out to find it but unfortunately the cache has been affected by fire. I really hope the cache can be replaced as even though I am not a fan of the movie I really love the theme behind the cache. Thanks for the cache SteelRat
Lucky this cache was metal otherwise it would have been destroyed in the bushfire. In desperate need of maintenance from the fire as the inside is all ash. Had wanted to get this cache for years as i love T2 and solved it years ago. TFTC!!! Please replace it soon. Salvaged a tb. #1221
I tried a couple of different approaches to get to GZ, one which was significantly easier than my first choice...
With the growing grass though, thoughts of Joe Blakes were never far from my mind as I wandered in toward the cache. Off the track, I thought the terrain rating could be bumped a star as the growth adds to the challenge, but I made it and after a brief hunt, secured the container.
As I opened the lid, the mozzies must have heard the noise and swooped on me while I was fixed in the log signing position. That wasn't great... I quickly did what I needed to do and hot footed it out of there.
Cheers SteelRat.

It seemed a while since we just 'went caching' in our local area, so we plotted a course up to Paterson via Fern Bay, to grab some newer caches that have popped up since our last trip through these areas. We managed to squeeze in 6 finds with one DNF before the rain closed in on us....
Well.... to those of you who managed this in thongs, I'll tip my hat, for you are harder men than I! I did have the two lads with me (carrying one, who is too old and heavy to carry now), and in our boots and trousers only just managed the 60m (there was whingeing).... We were all very glad for a quick find at GZ, I think the coords were very good. Cache is in good condition, we took the TB, and added two others. I think I solved this 2 years ago, it's nice to mark it off, and an old one to boot.... TFTC

Love the effort for this, re watching terminator 2 was awesome, but I couldnt stop there had to watch all of them again, cache in great condition, TFTC
Thanks for the puzzle and making me watch an old classic..dropped TB might help to be found again ...thought the TB was fitting
Found with kingfisher_au while out finding caches for international geocaching day, took a bit of effort to hike in with thongs on. Cache is in good condition, thanks for another of the riddle of the rat series.

A little research led to the answers.
Today it was a thick bush bash to GZ for a fairly easy find.

Caching has taken me to some very cool places and I'm looking forward the future finds. SL TNLN and TFTC and Puzzle On to Predator to complete the series Cheers, moto501
We have been wanting to get this cache since it was replaced and with a weekend of rainy weather it was the perfect time to sit down and watch the movie. Having not seen it for quite a while it was quite enjoyable watching it again, a classic really.
After two days of rain and having solved the coordinates the night before we decided we would venture out to find this cache. We parked at the given co-ords and straight away we found ourselves bashing our way through thick scrub. The cache was very well hidden under a pile of sand which had built up over it in the time it hasn't been found. Although we ended up soaking wet from the bush-bashing it was all part of the fun in finding this cache. Thanks for placing (and re-placing) this cache.

Arrived at GZ parking with kids in tow.... Didn't find bashing through the pretty thick ground cover of chest/head high ferns/grasses with a three year old on my hip in this heat attractive today.... will tray again another time.
Finally got off my sorry backside and dragged it out into the bush to replace the terminated Terminator 2.
Seeing as how the first metal/plastic container rusted to bits, the second plastic container was melted in a bushfire and the third plastic container was chewed to bits by wildlife, I thought I would upgrade to a metal/glass capsule. Not quite the adamantium I was hoping for, but hopefully it will do the job.
There isn't a lot of space inside for swaps, so bring something small or bendy. I have left a double barreled pencil to write with, but you may wish to bring a pen just in case.
Barring dropping by clumsy cachers, or asteroid strike, this one may see it out for a few more years.
The clue is inside the notebook, so get cracking on your way to the final ROTR cache, Predator.
Cheers.

I have an ammo tin you can have if that helps. Contact me on my profile if you want one.
I've had similar problems with this type of container. If they once held food (pills, capsules, dietry product etc) the critters can sniff it out. Even after being washed it doesn't take much for critters to find it.
And once again something has taken to the Terminator in a less than friendly way.
So far none of the Terminator caches has survived, all attacked and destroyed in some fashion.
I think I will investigate something more robust, maybe bulletproof or made of titanium, or carbon fibre.
What about some adamantium?
Anyone have Wolverine's number?
Cheers,
SteelRat.

This cache has not been found in more than six months and sadly it seems there's been a cache mishap during that time. I found the cache body about 15 feet from the cache lid and it seems a local animal has given it all a good chew! Teeth marks in everything. Rat? Dog? Ratdog? Either way, I was way more worried about legless predators in here this morning in dappled light and heavy leaf litter! Fortunately no sign of any of them. Cache needs desperate maintenance - full replacement of container and a new log. I have taken the TB and will dry it out and move it on. TFTC now off to get the final... Maybe on the weekend.
Cache container is wrecked. Contents sodden. Needs replacement. See my post for more info.
Tombi allowed me to stop and search for this on the way out to Lemon Tree Passage and the Tilligery peninsula as he had already found it. I forgot to put insect repellant on which meant i was dancing around trying to shake them off as i searched. Thankfully TOMBi gave me a hint to speed up the search. we signed and replaced the cache quickly and returned to the car. TFTC
Pick my good friends up at Airport and drive pass to find few caches.... Geofriend found than me!!!!
Hide well.. Thank
Hide well.. Thank
I actually own this movie and, unlike the other movie questions, I had to watch the movie (rather than research) to find the answer. After another day on the farm, my wife drove me here for a quick find (it was on the way home, mostly). My GPSr was dangerously low on batteries and I did not know if I would get to GZ before it died (I did) and saw it straight away despite its good camouflage/covering.
Thanks for another great cache in this series!

found this with Team Bob (Darzee Di, GrimRaider, KitteyKatch, MrRoo and wombatatcrows). After some of the team watched the movie, coordinates were put in GPS and we enjoyed hunting down this cache tftc SteelRat

After having a movie day with grimraider and Kittykatch fail cause grimraider couldnt work out how to play the movie. We did our own research and worked out the coordinates. Today the whole team pulled up and after a short walk in the bush got to gz where a easy find was made TFTC

Found on tne start of a four day geocaching weekend to Port Stephens with a bunch of mates. GrimRaider and I had organised to watch the movie with Mr Roo but we ended up watching it without him. Travelled to Port Stephens with Team Bob - ACTchil, KittyKatch, Grimraider, Wombatatcrows & Mr Roo; and decided to grab this puzzle cache together after watching the movie a few days before. A little rain but hey we are caching and rain doesn't stop us, well light rain anyway.....tftc SteelRat.
TFTC!! This is our 1st of the series, as it's the only one we can attempt at night. Thanks so much. Can't wait to finish this series =)
Knowing I'd be here sometime soon, a couple of weeks ago I scrounged around for a copy of the movie and watched for the details. Today we arrived in the early evening and found by torchlight. Thanks SteelRat.

I had worked out the coordinates for this cache a long time ago had to get hold of a copy of T2 to get the information as I had lost my VHS copy.
Then the fires happened in Oct so put it off again then went for a look around in December but there was nothing to see just lots of black.
After noticing that SteelRat had done some maintenance and replaced the cache with a new one I jumped and drove back for another look. Upon arrival at gz I followed the gpsr to the calculated coordinates and spied the hiding place nearly straight away.
Thanks SteelRat for this new cache with lots of stuff in it and for the whole series. Retrieved the information needed so now on to the Predator.

Finally had a chance to get out and check on the welfare of Terminator 2.
After 10 minutes wandering around a landscape that bore little resemblance to memory or photos of the cache area, I took a very close look at a tiny little black stump. Sitting within was a rusty spring, and a few rusting staples and other detritus.
Eureka, I had found the torched remnants of the recently upgraded Terminator 2.
A few more minutes poking around in the dirt and ash and some other burnt and rusted bits of metal came to light. Bagged them for removal, and set about digging into the remains of the stump to clear a space for the re-replacement cache.
The new cache is in the same position, so no new clues are required. It is a bit smaller, and doesn't have a fancy camo paintjob, but the black finish seems to blend in just fine anyway.
I've posted a few pics, compare them to the earlier shots to see the difference in the area after the bushfire went through.
Cache is once again open for business.
Cheers,
SteelRat.

I've been waiting for a few weeks to go in and have a look. There is still a risk of falling trees after the fire. It sure did get very hot in there. I was unlucky enough to have been one of the firefighters working in the area on the Thursday when the fire burnt through here.
I'll let you know how I go.
I'll let you know how I go.
I've been watching the bushfire news, like most, and thinking about how many caches may now be a crunchy memory.
This one is quite possibly 'terminated', but I won't get to check on it for a while yet.
If anyone has a crack and can give some direct feedback before then, much appreciated.
Never know, it might be a tough little bugger after all.
Cheers.

Just drove past the area where this cache should be. Has it been, well, terminated by the fires[?]
0020 GAFF1 Had worked on this one a LOOOONG time ago - in another caching lifetime almost! Glad I didn't try to find with the Foretrex 100 tho, as it was NOT the most reliable device under tree cover.
Had last some of my workings out from 5 years ago, so only had part of the coordinates, but I thought I had a fair go at finding it on Friday, but in the end it was after midnight by the time I 'forced' the position. Thank God for LED headlights. And having MVMB along encouraged me to keep on going.
LOVELY NEW CACHE! I wasn't expecting that, especially after 'Commando' last year. Nice to see you back in the game Steel Rat.
Cache DRY and INTACT! Did I say I LOVED it!
Left a Correct Site Marker - surgical marking pen.
Brought through for mileage: 3 Bros, Aust Light Houses, B 2 B ingot, Iconic Bridges, Just Monkeying Around Oz, Little Moo, PAP, Slugging Around the World!, Trackabulldog, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, and trackable shirt.
TFTC Steel Rat, another book mark for the Puzzle Solving thesis. (A Fav.)

As a part of my recent efforts to get off my bum and do some much needed maintenance on my caches, I have taken a bit of time to come and upgrade another of the Riddle of the Rat series.
After so long in the wilds the original container was finally cactus, and nearly all contents turned to trash. The logbook was dry and readable, but falling to pieces.
An all new camo container and fresh logbook, and a new bucket of goodies now awaits the next cacher ready to brave another Arnie movie.
Cheers,
SteelRat.

A trip up the coast that required me watching a movie first.
Found the cache in a poor state and in need of intervention.

Luckily the video store still had this one, I must admit I did not watch it right through (again). The final coords looked a little out of the way, but we went there today and battled through to GZ for the prize and clue. Thanks for a great puzzle and hide, we enjoyed this one as our 1000th find.

We dragged out the T2 DVD the night before we left to figure out this one. I walked right past the obvious hide as I concentrated on the GPS, but Toriaz came behind and saw it straight away. Everything was wet. The container lid is cracked and the clue for the rest of the series is discintegrating. We managed to photograph it but it will need attention. Anyway thanks.
We were looking over our planned route and noticed this puzzle cache. T2 DVD was located and we quickly got the information we needed to get the coordinates.
Once at GZ this was a quick find. Bikerbuddy has already logged a needs maintenance, while the information needed for the end of the series was still readable for us, it won't be for much longer. And the container needs replacing, the lid is split & the container rusting.
Thanks for a fun puzzle.

this cache was a good excuse to watch the first 3 terminator movies one after another. TFTC.
Again work out the coordinates without havng to watch any of Arnies movies.
This was the final one i needed to do before i could track down the predator.
I now have the coordinates and will grab it next time i am in that area.
The cache for this one is in need of maintenance as it's lid is now useless so the contents including the log is very damp.
Grabbed a travel bug to move on.....
SL TFTC Left my calling card.

Found with Bedmaker today.
As we arrived at GZ 4 FA18's flew overhead. It was pretty awesome!
Loved the cache and the location.

Found with TassieGirl while here on holidays.
I absolutly loved this cache, partly because being a visitor I saw something I don't see everyday back home. Four FA18's flying by at a very low level.
LOVED IT!
Back to the cache, another good subject too.
Have the movie so tracking the answer down wasn't a hard task.
Arrived at GZ and found the cache all ok.
TFTC and a reason to watch Arnie again.

Reperio at 1320. Knew I would be passing by the area today, so before leaving, I quickly whacked on the movie and grabbed the info I needed. On to GZ, and once I found my way to the cache, I couldn't believe the amount of mossie's here. It was literally like they were sent back through time to protect the cache and terminate anyone who came near it. Barely managed to get out alive.
Gratias SteelRat.

Thanks for the series SteelRat

#4805 Found this cache as part of the Rats, Steeba & FarmerFrentzen blitz on the Port Stephens area. This was our last find for what was a very long day. we started at 3am and finished here with 124 finds in 17hrs.
Having had our share of ticks and spiders and quiet funny to be finsihing off with one more dose of bush searching, but after a short search the cache was in hand. Thanks

Found on a mammoth day's caching of 124 caches in 17 hours around the Maitland and Port Stephens area with The Rats and FarmerFrentzen.
Last of the day and we needed our toches to make our way through the bush to this one. An older cache and hopefully can finish off the rest of the series. TFTC!

Found during a 17 hour caching spree with The Rats and steeba that yielded 124 finds.
One of many puzzles we had spent some time on in preparation for our trip. A short walk out to GZ under light from our headlamps and a quick and easy find.
TNLN and thanks SteelRat for the cache.

We watched T2 months ago to work out GZ but only just got around to locating it on a sunny afternoon. TFTC
The second cache (or was it the fourth) I ever found was Riddle of the Rat, True Lies.
The riddle under it's lid said: "when 3 makes four, you will find one more", and this had me baffled for a bit until I realized that this was part of a series.
So I have been wanting to work my way through them all since then. But do you think after them playing terminator 2 on TV every 6 weeks for the last 10 years they could put it on for me now, when I am actually WANTING to watch it.
But no. It bacame part of a long hunt on utube.
(do you know how many 'remixes' there are, that do not contain any help?)
when I finally realized that T1000 was not Arnie but the melty guy, I quickly found the details I required.
A visit to the area had me with the mosquitoes quickly under hand and the cache soon after.
Another great cache all around, Steel Rat. and some great time capsule type history when the cache contents are lined up with the log.
