Having done a cache check this cache is being archived.

Should take this offline as coord plate at WP4 is missing, after confirming with previous cacher. Might also pay to have a quick check on container at GZ too.

04-Jan-14
Cache check required. Will do ASAP.

03-Jan-14
Spent an hour at WP4, searching for the plate to GZ.
Being very well prepared with plumbers mirror, was able to view underneath the bottom rail while standing. Thus searched railings, seats and sandstone without luck. Wilbert67 found the tag recently. I wonder if the plate still exists? Sent an email to Wilbert67 in hope. TFTH

30-Dec-13
Raced through the first 3 waypoints until grief was struck.
Is there another waypoint plate at WP 4 as confusion set in?
Walked back to WP3 to recheck if I punched in the right coords, no mistakes made, now what am I missing? Maybe the plot!
Added to watch list. TFTH

12-Dec-13
Another miss today. Was able to track down WP4 through PAF and went straight for GZ. At GZ nothing around for about 25 meters, so I went for the most logical spot (according to the clue) and had a extensive search to no luck, then I also tried a few more spots even further away, again no luck? On the way back I checked WP4 again and I am concinced now it is missing?

As I read before, wp 1 till 3 easy and "philma" like wp's, so I was surprised at wp4?? Unless this is something totally different and tricky? Hope to find out soon, I am still here for a couple of days

26-Oct-13
Sad face got to wp2 then stuck love a hint or help

12-Oct-13
12/10/13. 9:00 AM. I wanted to be the first to find this in over a year, but I too came unstuck.

WP1 was easily spotted.
WP2 needed a little bit of effort both in getting to and deciphering, but I got the numbers right.
WP3 I thought I was going to be muggled out but when I read the likely location based on Bells earlier log, I saw the new replacement fixture. So far so good...
...but then no joy at WP4. Despite my efforts in contorting and feeling and using the iPhone camera as a mirror, I just couldn't find WP4.
Adding to my growing watch list of DNFs to see if this one turns up. Sigh.

01-Oct-13
Have had a bunch of looks with no
luck. Have tried 2 x PAF to 2 people and I am assured that I am looking in the right spot but with no luck. Was hoping for a cache check on wp4 and gz if possible. Thanks

24-Aug-13
A beautiful morning in Sydney and a rare trip to Randwick this morning had me planning a side trip here first. This was my first venture into Centennial Park and I didn't realise just how big this place is. Awesome. Anyway, made the first 3 WP's but then got to WP4 and just couldn't find what I was looking for. It didn't help that there were a lot of muggles out and about and I didn't get to thoroughly search, but I gave it a good look but there was no obvious signs compared to the other WP's.
Maybe those co-ords are missing? Maybe I'd need to come back another day. Would love to try and finish this one now... Nice walk. Thanks.

15-Jul-13
So much grief this cache is causing me! Seeing it relisted tried to make the find today. Last three visits I had only made it as far as WP2, but this time with misspalot's sharp eye I was quickly at GZ. Read the previous logs, found the nearest fig tree... But nudda! Argh!!! I'll get you duck pond... One day! Thanks for adventure Philma - I will return!

15-Jul-13
After relatively straight forward finds for WP3&4, could not find the cache at GZ. Poked at many crevices and destroyed many webs. Alas could not find it Sad

06-Dec-12
Waypoint missing off TFN.

20-Nov-12
I was here about two weeks ago. The crossbar with wp3 is missing.

13-Nov-12
Getting closer. Geobrother in Christ helped me find WP2 on my second visit but this time got stuck on WP3. Even managed to climb into the tunnel but couldn't find it!

07-Nov-12
Thought I'd try this rare old one before leaving Australia yesterday. WP1 found, no problem at all. WP2 was where it all stopped. Even sent my mates muggledog in for a look, but nothing. Part of the structure at GZ is missing, not sure if this is recent. Hope it's still there in 3 years when we get back!

31-Oct-12
Big thanks to jason.hill for giving me a tip on what to look for. I'm on my way! One waypoint down, several more to go . . .

15-Oct-12
Found WP1 and WP2 but struggled with WP3. The coords are right over a white fence with a missing cross beam so am wondering if WP3 was on that missing beam. Other than that, there is a tunnel/waterway running right underneath which I stuck my head in but couldn't see anything from the entrance. It's a little tricky to actually climb into that tunnel so was unsure if it was really in there. Would appreciate a hint on that!

IS FIRST HINT ON ROOF??? PLEASE ANSWER!!!

21-Sep-12
Found WP1 on the way home from uni. Going to finish this cache in the next couple of days hopefully, once I get a chance to come back to centennial park. Thought I'd post quickly to mention that the man made feature at the original co-ordinates is possibly in the process of being removed (it was no longer standing ...just lying nearby) ...so the co-ords info might need to be re-situated in the near future.

18-Sep-12
Two attempts at WP1 and have failed both times. Poked around in the obvious places and can't think of where else to look. Help!

13-Jul-12
Got stuck on wp3 last time. Success this time on a lovely day for a ride it the park. TFTC

02-Jul-12
Returned from our second attempt unsuccessful. Felt we got much closer to it this time. Still working out way points. Pretty new to it. Definitely going back to tackle it. Beautiful opportunity to see the park though. Have lived only a few minutes away from it for 3 years and never been, how sad!

29-Jun-12
I'm not sure if either the co-ordinates are wrong or the description, because neither match anything on the ground...

18-Jun-12
I think we spent the longest amount of time on WP2.

WP4 would've been harder had there been more people around.

05-Jun-12
It's been a while since I first found this, one of my favorite caches.
Just revisiting so I can drop off Tilly as Centennial Park has plenty of gum-trees for her to climb.
Good luck, Tilly!

Yay! We finished this off today at the same time as starting (and failing) Busby's Bridges. We whizzed through the waypoints (well at least it was quick ƒinding them), and then headed off to the final (Okay I admit that was 2 hours later!). On the way we saw fabulous ducks, geese and swans and will attach photos of them later.

After a long trek up to the final, we came to a very unlikely area. The usual "did you write down the coordinates right?" was asked but after reading some logs we realised that we were within 50m of the right place, the coordinates were just quite a bit out.

we searched and searched at the place we thought obvious, but there were no clear spots even for the most camoed cache. we got to farther and farther away from our coordinates, probably ending up some 100m away, and after about 30 mins I was ready to give up.

we were returning to our original spot when the geodad told us he had come up with the goods, just 30m away from the coordinates we got. This was the closest area referring to the hint, but we just hadn't noticed it before.

The camoflage on the cache is starting to break down, and it's looking a bit obvious even from a little far away.

TFTC. You brought us to some beautiful locations throughout Centennial Park and gave us some great photo opportunities.

06-Apr-12
Found WP1 and WP2 (which BTW isn't underwater) but as we didn't have a torch and we couldn't see the coordinates for WP3 without the app on the phone which has a torch (plus we were hungry for dinner) so we decided to go home. So far a fun adventure and hopefully when we return it will continue to be so. TFTWPs

Found WP1
We got very close to WP2, however we suspect it might be underwater? Google maps show an area of dry land near WP2 that is not currently there.

EDIT (17/6/12): Found WP2! It is NOT underwater.

25-Mar-12
Found WP1 easily nough but WP2 was proving vey difficult when some muggles decided it was a good area to sit for a while so my hunt was over for now.

24-Mar-12
It took us about two hours to walk around the park and find the four waypoints and the cache. I am not sure if the walking or finding the cache took the longest.

A really picturesque walk, we saw duck, geese, swans, sea gulls and pigeons, at least.

WP1 is inaccessible due to pond rehabilitation works.

Found it at last!

It's taken at least three visit's to complete this multi - not that I'm complaining, we love Centennial Park.

Today it was WP3, WP4, & GZ. The last time we attempted this cache we were prevented from looking around WP3 by muggles having a picnic, but mid-morning this morning, the area was clear and we quickly found what we were looking for.

When we arrived at WP4 (which was fortuitously where we had parked the car) there were too many people around, and so we detoured to the playgroup for a bit. Returning an hour later, the coast was clear and we quickly had the coords.

However, when we first went to GZ, the coords left us high and dry. I looked in some likely spots (though a fair way away from where the GPS was pointing) and didn't find anything. Being a bit confused, we returned to WP4, checked the numbers (which were right) and then went back to GZ. I checked the hint this time, and went back to search. After looking in the only obvious place (and even less obvious contenders), I was ready to give up. But with the family still complying I went back and gave it a third shot - looking even harder this time.

Well at last I found it. Simple, but superb camo. You've really got to be searching to see this thing. Oh, and according to my GPS, the final coords are about 20m off - but the hint sends you straight to the right place (you've just got to look, and look, and then look some more).

Left a yellow paper clip stand thing, and took the Frog TB. Hopefully he might find his true love yet.

TFTC, I think it deserves a Fav Point!

DNF Due to rehabilitation of Kensington Ponds. Fencing around ponds including pump station and creek inlet to pond. Needs to be checked

02-Oct-11
We started this multi back in August with the entire geofam (incl. to be converted grandparents). As it is a bit of a walk we ran out of steam and favorable weather after the 4th WP. Today we finally made it back to Sydney and stopped by the GZ.
This was a VERY enjoyable experience. A clear Favorite!
Thank you Philma. I dropped TB Fred the Frog who is new to Sydney and sure happy to be shown around or go north maybe?

Wow, can't believe it's a year since we went on a lovely hunt around Centennial Park but didn't come up with the goods at the end. As it turns out they weren't there. So on a lovely Friday evening sunset walk around the park we thought we'd head up to GZ and there it was. Classic Philma camouflage and classic container in excellent shape. Found it.. Spent a good leisurely 2hrs on this cache. An enjoyable find with many muggles around! Tftc

07-Aug-11
This is a revisit to Duck Pond as it is one of the nearest to me that can hold a largish TB (Swappo). Plus I was showing a 7 yo how multicaches work.

17-Jul-11
What a greatish day out chasing this cache. The rainy day kept the muggles away, but meant we were soaked by the time we reached GZ. Must have walked what felt like 10 km. Recommend cachers bringing mountain bikes.
In: TB/Roadrunner (finally a cache large enough to accommodate him); 'cigarette' pipe cleaner.
Out: TB/W2-Grill Mate.
Brilliant multicache, thanks!

Fun day out completed with this multi. Got a bit lucky on WP1 but we found the info for WP2. WP2 had a bit of growth over the area but all went well and we ended up taking the Blaze TB

Kellysgang and I tried to find the first waypoint with no success after a good look round the obvious. The was some evidence of work on the pond side, maybe it has been muggled?

Huzzah! After finding WP1 more than year ago with quarterpipe I Finally returned to get the rest. Thanks Philma for a great way to spend an afternoon. Left cache TB, whale watching tb and blaze TB. It deserves a few TB's. Tftc.

It certainly isn't where I left it a few months ago. The bricks are there but no hessian bag that was covering the cache. There is a ton of leaf litter though, maybe someone thought they would bury it? Need a tool to poke about. What a shame, our TB Jeans 4 Genes was last seen here. Hope it turns up Philma.

This cache has been unfound for a while...Philma can you maintain it and have a look if it's still at GZ

04-Sep-10
Will do a cache check soon

29-Aug-10
Went looking for this cache with Buddha Belly and Monocle (of the Squints) and we found the first coordinates easily enough but looked and looked but couldn't find the second set. Will try again another time, hope it's not gone missing.

29-Aug-10
Found the first way point with no problem but just couldn't find anything at the second way point. Crawled around for quite a while to no avail.

Hopefully we were just a little short-sighted and the second set of co-ords are still there.

Will try again another time.

29-Aug-10
Double-checked that last waypoint and we had it right. Poked around a lot at GZ but just did not come up with the goods. After seeing the camouflage at Pub Crawl, it is entirely possible that we are simply not seeing the cache container but didn't want to poke, scratch and scrape too much in Centennial Park. Coordinates for the obvious hiding place are a little out which is unusual because we're usually right on the money with Philma. We'll have a think before we head back for another go. TFT puzzler. Cheers............Gaztek

08-Aug-10
On the trail of another classic Philma multi-cache. We tracked this down over two visits at the same time as hunting for Busby's Bridges. But the final location let us down today. We poked and prodded where we thought the right place was but it was nearing kick-off time at the league game at the SCG and we abandoned our search. We think we'll head back to WP4 to check that we wrote the coordinates down correctly but for now its DNFY (yet!). Cheers...........Gaztek

11-Jul-10
Far too many muggles at final WP, only to be expected on w/end of school holidays. Will have to return soon to try again. First 3 WP's are great.

I'm sure I looked for WP3 but didn't see it the first time. Doh!
As someone else said, you spend a lot of time in awkward positions looking for these WPs Smile

All clear a few hours later for a fast find.
Loved this multi, very well set up.

Argh, WP3 is driving me bonkers. Looked once, went back to check the coords at WP2 as one of the digits was hard to read. The location makes sense given the cache title but I'm stumped as to where else to search for the coords for WP4. I know I'll kick myself when I finally find it!

09-Apr-10
Good muggle free day, school holidays notwithstanding! Only event of note was a run in with an angry and hungry eel, and the challenge of keeping small geokids from climbing down drains! We do love the muli caches in the park and this is the pick of them....much fun exploring on a beautiful day.

Took TB left sheep TB (a pretty even swap me thinks!)

04-Apr-10
On a sunny autumn afternoon the park was aswarm with millions of muggles leading us to wonder as to how successful we would be. Nevertheless we thought we'd at least make a start on this fine multi. We didn't know what sort of method would be employed for the way points so at WP1 we searched for the usual range of suspects. As it happened Lady Altaire spotted it after a few minutes. Great - at least we could make a start on this one. Thankfully WP2 was muggle free because that one we thought would be the most problematic if there were people too close. Actually saw a couple of turtles here. From afar at WP3 we espied a suspicious couple paying a little too much attention to something most people wouldn't even spare a glance upon. Turned out to be a pair of USA cachers over here on a working holiday. Had a chat for a little while and they were off to the next WP whilst we finished off number 3. WP4 was muggle central but we knew what we were looking for and soon had the info required without any of the passers by sparing us a first glance let alone a second. On the way to GZ a rain shower began which did a nice job of thinning the crowds. Not that it mattered for the final find as we had that spot to ourselves. We stayed a while under the sheltering tree doing the cache duties and waiting for the rain to pass on by. This is an excellent multi cache and a pleasant way to spend an hour or two wandering around the park. Left a TB and picked up a TB and coin.

28-Mar-10
Found this after spending a wonderful morning in the Park with 3 other muggle friends. Chasing after the clues proved to be highly entertaining and brought us to very interesting spots! The waypoints were very well planned, prepared and hidden! TFTWC! TNLNSL.

PHILMA!!!

On my very first day of caching i tried a Philma cache at Sydney Park called Brick Wall... Couldnt even find WP1. Log said something about ppl found it after searching for 4 years. so Philma can be frustrating.

Mu33a and i found WP1 - took a while but found it. Got the coordinates off of waypoint 1 and started to head to WP2... Beautiful spot but couldnt for the life of me find WP2... GPS sent us to the waterline but going by the hint we searched long and hard on under and inside everything.

PHILMA!!! more frustrations. well we will have to try this again some other time.

An enjoyable Multi Cache ( my first successful one), Of note, there appeared to be no trackable item in this cache, although one is listed on the Home page. I also parted way with my trusty Geo pen here. Absent-mindedly left it at the scene ( I won it as a consolation prize on Wheel of Fortune!). Anyone who finds it, please enjoy. TFTC

After a DNF last time, we found WP1 & 2 this time. Can't believe we didn't see the coords @ WP1 the first time we were here, but I don't think I was looking for that kind of thing.

Got to WP3 and had a bit of poke around for it, but didn't have time for a thorough search - we'll be back.

Was an amazing day to be in Centennial Park. Nice lunch at the Cafe, brilliant walk to the WPs, ice-cream and then back home. Looking forward to our next visit.

We started this one a few weeks ago but only found WP1 before friends turned up and the hunt was abandoned. Beautiful day for wandering around the park, found the remaining waypoints fairly easily with the exception of WP2. Muggles on a nearby bench put us off a proper search and only after they left did we find the WP exactly where we first looked. Co-ords for final cache a bit out but easily found by Mrs B. Took nothing, left Australia Geocoin. TFTC.

Hi,

It took me two days to lift this cache. The first day I got at ground zero but it was too crowded to get it out safely . Today there was nobody and it cache was spotted very fast. I've done the whole route on the bicycle and didn't have too much problems getting off the tracks.

Cheers.

It's weird - I was the last person to write in the log way back in February. I felt bad becasue I thought maybe it was me who caused the loss of the cache onto the road. But since that happened 5 months later, I expect it was the recent gardeners activites and not me.

It's great to see it back in action as I really enjoyed this cache so I went to visit it today and swapped a coin for the TB. I hope lots of people have a go at this in the coming spring and summer becasue it's a really worthwhile jaunt in the gardens Smile

Hi Everyone

We are new to this. I am one of Centennial Park's Rangers and we have found this cache lying on the road. It is a clear box with DUCK POND written on it, it has a log book plus 8 or so things in the box. We would like to put it back in the correct place, I tried sending an email to the contact listed on this web page but no one has replied. Could 'Philma' or someone please contact me to get the box back to the right position.

Thanks.

After re-thinking WP1, I went back today and had no trouble first go. After that I just seemed to find eveything with no problems. I think I had psyched myself into thinking that this was really hard but it is actually a lovely walk all around Centennial park. I left a blue speckled duck egg in keeping with the theme and took the Green Jeep TB. TFTC Philma, it is lovely

18-Feb-09
I had a very good tour of the whole park on the way to WP1 since I work at the opposite end to the co-ords. I quickly found a likely looking spot, right on the gps reading, even found where I reckoned the info should be hidden but there was nothing there. Is this one of those really tricky hides that you spend ages trying to work out? I figure if I'm stumped on WP1, I will need to wait a long time before I have another go at this! mmm.....I'll study all the previous logs and see if WP1 has some trick that someone has given a hint to.

Finished this one off from where we left off last time, no trouble finding the waypoints, curiously the final cache was showing as about 30 metres north (pretty much in the middle of the flat overgrown grass) of where it actually is. The final cache is no longer concealed as mentioned in the clue, though I did try to do some covering with bark, the camouflage is pretty good anyway.

Had a great walk around the park TFTC!

I managed to find the first three way points easily as I strolled around the park enjoying the views. My eyesight was also given a good work out! Arriving at GZ I was met by a flotilla of ducks and other birds keen for a feed. As I fed the ducks I observed the area that I thought had to be where the cache was hiding. Unfortunately the area looks as though a herd of elephants had parked themselves there as every plant was pushed down and the area torn up.

Looking at the logs there doesn't appear to have been anyone there for a while so perhaps this is just every day damage done by the caring public as they enjoy the views.

It would have been nice to claim a find at the end of the walk but I decided against adding to the carnage and didn't look for the prize.

It's alwasy a pleasure to return to old haunts and I'll come back next time I'm in town.

Yay! What a great day. Nay has been suggesting for months that we go to Centennial Park and with a nice, albeit overcast day, we decided to pack the pram and iZac into the car for a trip.

We found WP1 quickly, and then performed a quick pitstop on Zac. Just before we arrived we witnessed a 'stupid' pedestrian wander into the path of a cyclist on the road nearby. Spectacular accident. Thankfully both were OK, but I think the pedestrian's pride was heavily bruised after his girlfriend said 'I told you to look out'.

WP2 was a bit difficult. We needed some help and Zac needed a bottle. After we found the waypoint and concentrated on feeding Zac a group of Emos feed the local ducks, swans et al. One was concerned by the tags on the wings of one said fowl. As he expressed his dismay, another women laughed and suggested the bird might be thinking the same of the Emo's face piercings. Very funny.

The other waypoints fell quickly, and the cache was very close to where we parked the car. Co-ords were a bit out, but it was obvious where it should be.

Zac was so excited by the find that he fell asleep. I dropped off the Taz TB on his behalf. All up, a great walk (6 km in all) and a wonderful afternoon - just what the Spindoctors prescribed.

Thank you Philma for a great cache.

Tried this one before, but once we got WP1, it was a nice two hour tour of the beautiful park. Found it on our birthday celebration weekend (and our one year anniversary of geocaching). TFTC.
