Coming up for lunch at Ivy Cottage (which is only open Fri, Sat and Sun) we decided to find a few caches. With full reception at Ivy Cottage We decided download caches onto an offline site as we knew there would be next to no reception further down the road. However there was reception for this cache. Old Man Hands and Little Miss Hands set off for the walk while Mrs Hands stayed at the lookout. They found the cache with easy but was unable to sign log as it was too wet. So a photo was taken instead.
Out for a walk to Ethel creek and thought these lookouts seem like exactly the place a cache should be hidden! Easy find but not game to touch the wet insides of the cache! Thanks for hiding
Mrs lat&long drove up the range today; I held tight to the roof handle. Its a thrilling road, isnt it? We strolled from lookout to lookout and eventually retrieved the cache. Sadly the log is unusable, but we took a photo in lieu of a signature. Certainly, a wonderful place and easy walk; just not sure about the road .
The view from the lookout is great!Found the cache, but the logbook is pulp. So a picture of the container instead of an entry in the logbook. TFTC

Got caught in the rain, no big deal as still warm. Unfortunately the cloud blocked the views. The cache log is very wet and needs replacing. TFTC
Very happy find. Beautiful walk and views. Thanks for all your caches. Happy day with batchy79.
Found after some searching. The logbook was wet and mouldered, so signing was not possible. Instead, I append a fotolog.

We walked out this track. Did not get much of a view as there was cloud all around. The cache took longer that it should have. Not sure how we missed in the first look in that area. We then searched further afield before coming back to where gps was pointing. Then after another look in the area we located with ease.

I have visited the nearby, much quicker to reach lookout before, but never found the time to get out here. It was certainly worth dedicating specific time to finally do this very easy hike. The views were great, completely parallel to the Palm Island group. The cache was easily found in its easy and save to reach location. It is very damp inside though, as the lid was not tightly screwed on. Still a great cache. Thanks.
Visited during my field work. Despite misty weather, the view was beautiful. Thanks!
This was surely a most beautiful walk. We are so happy to finally have the opportunity to be visiting this area and to spend the day, with good weather up in the mountains here.
We are trying to see as much as we can and the walk to GZ was incredibly beautiful with outstanding views across to Palm Island and the beautiful coral sea.
Thanks cassowary for this highlight.
A definite FP here.

Day seven and Friday of the big Townsville trip for Fangsoki, Crew 153, 1MinnieMoo, Pprime and myself. Today will involve a lot of driving for the 'North Loop' up to Ingham, Wallaman and Paluma. But, plenty of old geocaches and some hikes so it's a good day if tiring!
Having climbed Mount Fox this morning, we were now on a mission to head east through the Paluma area, grabbing more old geocaches. It was now well after lunchtime, and I'd long since run out of snacks. Thankfully here in town a lone cafe was open with enough options to make all happy and un-hungry.
Right, back to the geocaching and this was both next and just around the corner. Off we head into the rainforest. It was pretty lovely enjoying such a shady walk with perfect weather up here in the hills this afternoon. The track is well looked after and the serenity was just nice.
Given the upper lookout was first, we went there for a quick look before going to the lookout with the geocache. It was amusing that it was literally just below us. Down we go.
From here, on a day like this, the view is just spectacular. It was striking to me as resembling of the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains some 2000km away. But along the ridgeline, across the valleys and the ocean with islands beyond. I am so glad we came here for that alone.
While I was enjoying the view, I heard some comment that the geocache had been found. I joined in on signing the logbook at about 15:15, before making our way back. 3km is a decent walk after sitting all day, and so worth it for the views at the end. Ah, this is why we love old geocaches. Thanks for bringing me here, cassowary

The Trudge2TVL mob (Fangsoki, 1MinnieMoo, Captain Terror, Crew 153 and myself) go north! Yet another FP prized from me here - what an awesome little walk. Having enjoyed a lovely lunch at the cafe near parking, we headed out along this track - so well maintained, with matting to avoid any troublesome slipping, and such peaceful quiet forest land. Much enjoyed. With little todo we arrived at the first lookout - nice, but then descended to the lower lookout - which was soooo much nicer. Awesome. And a quick find at GZ as we enjoyed the view.
Thanks cassowary for entertaining me at this location.

A 9 day roadtrip to Townsville and back to Brisbane in the Fangsoki Pajero with the usual cast of cachers.
This 2004 cache was one that we were targeting on our trip today and we were not disappointed with the walk or the view from the lookout. I distracted the muggle while Pprime did the honours on the cache.

This was a great walk and we had a picnic with a very curious turkey at the lookout. TFTC cassowary
Day 6 of our Mega road trip. What to do today? Escape the heat for a day sounds like a plan. This cache was on the list so provided motivation for a drive. Arriving at McClelland’s Lookout car park, a group filling several cars were returning from their walk. Perfect timing as we had the track to ourselves. So lovely. Beautiful view and an old cache ticked all the boxes. We returned to the car and grabbed our picnic lunch to eat at the lookout’s picnic area. TFTC cassowary
Found it but took our hilking bag and forgot the geo bag which is a real shame as the log really needs replacing, it’s very mouldy!
1MinnieMoo and I were in the area - and this was one of our "big target" caches for the day.
We parked up and made our way into the nice area. I was thankful for the shady rainforest and the cooler breeze - even though it was still humid. It was a nice amble through the beautiful rainforest. The path is very well maintained.
We made our way straight to the lower lookout and I set about business. Being a larger lad, the "easier" route to GZ was not an option - so I did some fancy hand and footwork and I soon found the prize.
We both signed the log and then took some happy snaps. We returned to the upper lookout but there was nothing to be seen - just a complete whiteout of cloud. We headed back - stopping to get rid of the odd leech - and was happy to get back tot he car.
Incidentally, this cache is currently the 128th oldest active cache in Queensland. A fantastic place for a cache. TFTC cassowary

22/10/21 Find #5116
Day 14 of our trip, and Fangsoki and I left the beauty and humidity of Mission Beach to make our way to Townsville, the long way of course!
This was our main target for today. And this is my kind of place! I absolutely loved the foggy walk to this one, and didn’t mind the fact the leaches were showing interest even one little bit. I only wish I had been quicker at snapping the photos of the birds here. We were worried before arriving here that it might be a hot walk, but under the thickness of the rainforest and with the fog and cloud cover, the temperature in here was quite pleasant. I could spend hours in a place like this!
Arriving at GZ, I was a little distracted taking photos, while the no-nonsense Fangsoki got instantly in to search for the cache. Ok guess I should join him. And almost instantly after, he made the find.
Thanks for the cache cassowary. This one definitely gets a favourite point from me.

Nice walk to lookouts. Could see some rocks but low cloud cover spoilt some of the view. TFTC.
TFTC .....BEWARE
On approaching the lookout I was about to look for this cache on the left hand side .....as I moved in that direction I saw a large black snake curled up (see picture)
The cache thankfully was to the right hand side but be careful as the snake will no doubt move around the rocks.

Out and about for a days exploring - after a visit to Little Crystal Creek we enjoyed the drive further up the hill to Paluma, stopping for a walk through the forest to the lookout here, enjoying a bit of birdspotting along the way (no elusive.cassowarys yet, but I did tick off a.l couple of catbirds). Once at Witt's we followed the given directions and the cache was in hand quite quickly. Thanks cassowary.

Quick find, great view this afternoon on a sunny spring afternoon. Enjoyable walk out, thanks for a historic cache cassowary.
It was a pleasant walk through the rainforest. I ran into a primary school class along the way but soon left them behind. I soon arrived at the lower lookout and, after admiring the views, began to search. The container was quickly spotted in the third place I looked. Thanks for the cache
Looked everywhere but no luck for us. Lots of perfect little spots to hide a cache, but oh well!

It was already a bit late and I had to convince Mr TMR, that it's best to do the lookout in the afternoon. It's so worth it, wow, a stunning view and a nice, easy cache.

After enjoying the drive up and stopping off at the stone bridge on the way, I parked the car to enjoy the views at the first lookout, took the rainforest stroll and followed the GPS to the next lookout, down the the stairs to the bottom platform for an awesome view (see the photo), took some pics and then cache hunting....

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there cassowary. We found your cache "PALUMA" at 1:28:00 PM today.
This was our 3rd cache find in a caching run of 5 Finds & 0 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9795.)
[Blue]
We are trying to log at least one cache every day, so we can add to our streak of "Most Consecutive Days Cached", which we started on New Years Day 2014. Our route today took us to some really wonderful & scenic locations.
Thanks for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. For over ten years we have watched the quality of caches get steadily worse and worse. Once upon a time caches seemed to be "regular" sized, and well stocked with goodies for kids to swap. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this cache in a "special" place.
We gave the cache a favourite point for the view (and the exercise we badly needed).
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: Container is in good shape. We replaced the log.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Party Popper.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards

Lucky for an amazing view cos I had to wait for a school tribe of muggles to leave.. Needs more paper so I signed someone's postcard they left... Bet the view would be spectacular on cloudless days.. Tftc!!
11:52:00 AM. It was good to get out and go for a walk in such a lovely area. Not many people around and mist in the trees made for an enjoyable hike. Cache is all good but log is full and we had left out spare in the car. We then left and ventured on down the other track to the falls. All in all a great morning and a nice lunch at the local cafe. Thanks cassowary for placing this cache.
Today we were up at Paluma as geoD was participating in the recreational 40km mountain bike race Paluma Push. While he was gettng sweaty, dirty and wet, geoP went for a lovely walk to collect today's cache.
Thankfully there we no muggles to worry about at GZ and the prize was quickly found.
The log book has seen better days and is pretty full and slightly damp so it could do with a replacement.

What a great way to spend the morning wandering through the rainforest to view the first of two lookouts. Met some travelers along the way. No one was at Witt's lookout so after a few mandatory photos the hunt was on. The cache was soon located and is in good condition. SL TNLN TFTC
A nice reward for a hike through beautiful rainforest. It was a typical wet season day, so we were all alone and didn't meet anyone but animals. The Waterfalls were full of water and very impressive. The leeches could have stayed at home as well, but you can't ask for everything...
Went for the beautiful walk down to Cloudy Creek, bit chilly for a swim. We can't believe that we didn't encounter one other person the whole day!! TFTC
This was a little work after searching for other caches for most of the day! It was getting late so we had to make it to GZ as quickly as possible. Geoteen spotted its hiding spot, swapped an item and decided to help the TB reach its goal.
Decided to hike all the tracks in Paluma today, it was a nice cool day and timed it just right to have a great view from this lookout...TFTC

A month or so back I drove up to Little Crystal Creek and noted that there was this cache further up the road. Today I was back and went the extra km to Paluma town (which really hasn't got much - I was expecting something like Kuranda!) and back to the lookout car park. It was a hot day down near sea level but up here it was cloudy and drizzly - a nice respite. There were a couple of cars in the car park with stuff stacked alongside them and no one nearby. I took the track to the close lookout and of course there was no view with the low cloud today. Headed off into the rainforest and enjoyed some wonderful bush on the 15 minute stroll to the first of the the two lookouts. A few brush turkeys on the track that were too stupid to go into the bush so just trotted ahead of me for many metres.
The view was no better at the first lookout and I could hear voices below me. I headed further down the track to the second lookout and GZ. There were four young lads trying to get a glimpse of the view. They were backpackers, three from Germany and one from England (so they were speaking English to each other). I had a good chat with them for a while and eventually they decided to move on without seeing the promised view. Once they were gone I made a quick find. As others have noted the logbook is full and damp and needs replacing. As I'm a long way from home I didn't have any supplies on me. Signed the log with a felt pen and replaced the cache.
Thanks! A favourite for the walk and I'm sure the view is great.

We headed off today on a day trip up the very windy road to Paluma and stopped here for a look on the way and a couple of nice walks through the rainforest, the first lookout had me snookered for a little while until I discovered the side track down to the next lookout which was much better, grabbed the cache and continued back to the carpark for a quick lunch. [orange]The log book is quite damp and the zip lock bag has broken, could use a new one of each. [/orange]

A beautiful walk with great views and the bonus of a smiley at the end of it. Clouds around the distant peaks made it look pretty cool as well.
