No luck, three of us hunted for around 20 minutes but it was not to be! Next time.... Great spot for a cache though!

08-Aug-16
Very first cache attempt on KI... and failed! Even roped in the muggle friends on the hunt, and still we failed Sad Enjoyed the fabulous remoteness of Cape Wickham... it was actually our best weather for our weeks visit, so very glad we spent our time up north. I will be back (probably in more favourable summertime).

Found it what a bugger that was, but a lot fun. However cache has been raided only colored pencils, plastic spider a very damp piece of paper. Also it comes with spider webs. Placed a local seashell. What magnificent view well worth the effort.

Wow, that took a while to find it. The difficulty and terrain rating is serious. You really need to dive into to grap it. Was very happy when I told it in my hands. Hope I did not collect too many spiders with my head. TFTC

Hi again energizer61
Glad to say that we found this one a couple of days ago. We are so glad that it hadn't gone missing, being as it hasn't been logged for quite some time. Sadly though there was no sign of the Humpback Whale Travel Tag in the cache. RoamingParsons from Bargara, near Bundaberg.

Sunday afternoon with cool change rolling in. Maintained cache, new container and log. Good to go. A truly beautiful lighthouse and spot on coastline. Thankyou for bringing us here. Cheers from team Bearsleys with Canaped

Rather overgrown and a bit hard to get to. But after the wallaby took off and tiptoeing around the dead bird I found it ok.

Great trip up here with Bearsleys, looking down on new Cape Wickham golf course - "will definitely be in the Top Ten in the world", they say. Mmmmm... Have they seen Cape Kidnappers in NZ, and Kauri Cliffs? Cape Wickham will certainly be a spectacular course, with the wind adding a sort of classic Scottish flavour to the links course.
Cache container had disintegrated, as previous logs had reported, so we brought a new container which should be better protected against destructive UV rays and refreshed the contents. Thanks for bringing us here.

Lovely day for sightseeing on KI and headed up to check out the lighthouse. Cache has gone to god though with just remnants remaining and no log book to scribe the moniker on. Beyond repair so needs a visit from cache owner to re set. Great spot.

14-Apr-14
Cache in a hundred pieces and needs resurrection.

04-Sep-13
Nice spot. Cache is full of water

25-Aug-13
A sunny day in paradise if a bit brisk. Quick find. Cache is full of water, which we drained and put back upside down. Log really needs replacing as it is mouldy and soaking wet. Geospouse says thanks for making me take a vague interest in history (shipwrecks and convicts) - which I never normally do.

A day working on King Island had me searching for caches the day prior to see what I could possibly find. After a few visits I made my way north of the island, to see another farmer, who was busy on his tractor so i made use of being this far north to grab this cache. A 20 minute drive had me parked near the lighthouse and the quick stroll up the hill soon had me making the discovery. Log was pretty wet but I was able to sign our name. Replaced the cache then made my way back to Currie to catch the flight back to Moorabbin.

Thanks for the cache.

Found on St Patrick's Day - I was on the island to play for a St Pat's gig. Had a bit of a look around the island on Saturday. Band most pleased that our hire vehicles was a 'star wagon'!! We don't often get star billing anywhere Big Grin TFTC

This cache is in urgent need of a new container. The existing lid is broken and can't be secured on. The container is clear plastic and has been destroyed by too much UV.

03-Feb-12
Easy find but this cache was scattered everywhere. Carefully gathered up all I could find and re-packed into container. The lid is missing bits so I put the cache upside down and wedged it under a branch.

Found this one and signed log . Unfortunately it has been scattered and needs urgent firstaid
Great location worthy of a cut lunch, a fishing rod or good book and a few hours

Was a bit windy at this end today. A short drive to read about the shipwreck, have a look at the lighthouse, and for the father in law to proide some local knowlege for a sailing party sussing out their next stop for the night.

Found while on a day trip to king island. We were lucky enough to go inside and climb to the top of the lighthouse as I was open to the public as part of it's 150 year celebrations. TFTC.

What a lovely spot. We spent at least a couple of hours here - Mr and Miss matmob fished off the rocks while Mrs hiked to Victoria Cove - another beautiful spot. Saw a pair of Hooded Plovers on the beach there, and a pair of Nankeen Kestrels have made their home in one of the lighthouse windows! Had our picnic lunch in the shelter and tried to imagine living in this isolated spot. Thanks so much for placing a cache here.

Nice spot! Easy find. Cache is in a poor state of repair due to seal failure in the container... we didn't get time to take up a new one. Signed log, took nothing, left a bent NZ 20c piece. Thanks!

Well this does not occur often.
I knew there was a cache up here, but didn't realise my cousins' were taking me up here for a view.
Remembered the hint and info, and with a look around, the GZ was quickly found, the cache followed quickly after.

As I wasn't expecting a spot of geocaching, I forgot to bring a pen (How disgraceful).

Enjoying an island holiday, it's a nice little bonus to go cache hunting. Thanks!

I had a few hours to spare on the island today, so borrowed a vehicle and headed "up North". The cache was easily found. I was impressed by the size of the lighthouse - even though I already knew it was the biggest in the Southern hemisphere the size still surprised me.

Found on a trip to King Island to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. Container was in good condition, but contents a bit wet, including log. Put new plastic bag and log sheet in. This is an interesting place, with great beaches great ocean and clear water. Our rent a car broke down at Cape Wickham (here) so we were in for a bit of a wait for help, particularly as our phone doesn't work here.
I loved the light house, and in years gone by, there must have been quite a village here.
One of the things I noted, was that at the picnic ground here, there was a memorial to all the children born at Cape Wickham in the 1860s to 1880s, and all the fathers were listed, but there was no mention of who the mothers were. Perhaps that has something to say about the values of society at the time, as there was probably no record kept as to who the mothers were.

Lots of shipwrecks here, heaps of them tried to go between Cape Wickham (King Island) and Cape Otway (Victoria), and many made the mistake of thinking that the light they saw was the wrong one, so they turned the wrong way and hit the land.

Took Photos, Left Nothing.

WOW!! What a huge light house. An easy find although it involved a bit of scrambling.
The book was wet so could not log our visit there.
TNLN because I left my swaps back on the mainland.

After what seemed like a long drive we arrived at this very impressive structure. We were alone at first, so were able to look for the cache without worries about muggles. It was found with it's lid off. The logbook was damp, but we were still able to write on it. Put it in a new plastic bag and made sure we put the lid on properly. We took a ring and left a jewellery kit. We checked out the graves also -a very interesting bit of history. The view was great too as it was a beautiful day. Thanks for bringing us up here, we enjoyed the trip and your cache.

Great spot on the island.

Finally made it to the top of the island - long drive! It was worth the trip. It's really quite interesting with some amazing views! The cache is quite well hidden and is quite full too. We changed a few of the knick-knacks and signed the log book.

YAY!! Hingrock FTF exactly 1 year after the cache was placed.

Found out later what the local muggle was up to when he stumbled across the cache. He is a mad bottle collector and was fumbling around in the bushes.

Visited the island previously but never had opportunity to venture way up here. Picked the best day of the year to do it so the views were absolutely fantastic.

Had an epic on the way when I had a blowout with one of the tyres. So after about 1 hr changing it with no tools I was able to get on the road again minus some skin and a close encounter with a snake while climbing under the truck to get at the spare.

Easily found and still in excellent condition. Took yoyo and left bendy bird.

Thanks Energizer. Best spot on the whole island.

Still a beautiful place, go get it people Wink
