This cache either needs maintenance or archiving! With no response to previous DNFs perhaps its time to put it out of its misery. Would love to see another cache or two placed in this beautiful park, to attract visiting cachers to Wanganui.
Last Find...exactly a year ago!! 30th Dec.2006!!!!!!
Last Find...exactly a year ago!! 30th Dec.2006!!!!!!
Not really surprised it got muggled, the last cache was in full view in a very public place. We returned to try and find the new cache location but could not find a clue of any sort at the previous GZ. Searched in the exact spot of the old cache in the howling wind and found no sigh of a "clue", then wandered aimlessly around the area wondering what we were looking for!!??!!. Searched the entire bandstand with no luck. Is there even a clue there??
this is the fifth time i have searched for this cache unsuccessfully including a nighttime attempt(no muggles),have confirmed gz location(precise triangulation) with three other cachers, and we all agree on the same point, but unfortunatly still no cigar(or cache!)perhaps another clue netties?...
First attempt last night, found all four waypoints without problems, but Fish and Chip eating muggles at GZ, meant no more than a quick glance around. Decided to go get my own and give up for the night. Second attempt this morning, searched for ages but couldn't find anyting resembling a clue.
Seems a shame to have such a great cache in town that seems to have been under the weather for some time now.

found position with right distance from all waypoints and have search 3times now once with the help of mortal 3 but to no avail ,and not sure what the clue is weather its on a laminated card or a container where suposed to be looking for?
Put another container here last weekend and its already gone. This never lasted a week so I am putting a clue here for a minor relocation to a more secure place. If it gets stolen again I am relocating it to either Westpac or ANZ bank vault. It will be safe there.
Hey-ya Netties. I have done all the walking around the lake and have been sitting on the final co-ords of this one for some time now (well, since March in fact), and kinda hoping you might get a moment to replace it? Thanks.
Checked cache tonight to find it missing and grafitti sprayed in places. Will make up new cache and replace later this month.
We were close, but no banana. Lots of muggles around today, will go back and nail it later.
1600hrs. Geo bro was getting tired and we dragged him half way around the lake again. In the end an easy find. Should have believed the gps.

Here with some of the grandies who spotted this cache. Neat hiding place. Thanks for this cache.
Found it today. Our first geocache experience. Was getting a GPS for Christmas but it hadn't arrived, so we tried thistype successfully. In,green person peg, out, McD ruler
Lovely park on a beautiful sunny day. Bit of guess work to find cache, only used one waypoint and worked it out. The Map noticeboard came in handy! Never did get to see the carved swan or the band stand, but saw a black swan sitting on her nest and a dear little pukeko with a damaged wing. The cache was very visible when you looked in the right place.
TNLN. Thanks. Enjoyed walking around the paths and through the colourful flowers in the Wintergarden.

15:19 I really like caches like this. Done 'Spitfire' in Hamilton & own 'SK8-Dude' in Wellington.
After lunch in the cafe across the road, I braved the sideways rain & explored the park. Found Tainui then White Swan. Gave me 2 possibilities so checked both to no avail. Found lots of duck eggs though. Walked lake for 2nd time, this time counterclockwise. Eventually found / guessed Hansel & Gretal & this proved my original choice of GZ.
But where was it? The measurements from the waypoints were spot on & it was a matter of changing my plane of thought to find the excellent cache. Very well done & I enjoyed the walk.
Good thing about the rain was that muggles were thin on the ground.

Finally, finally, finally found this cache which has been elusive for weeks..... Went back tonight in the dark and its there. Logged my visit, but as I was placing it back was spotted by 2 unsavoury characters. As I left they were hanging around so went back and brought it back home for a few days till the heat dies down. Will put it back end of this week in the early hours of friday morning. Tempted to put a TB in here but may go missing like two of mine have already. Interesting circuit board - some part of a nuclear reactor I think. Took nothing but left AMD 200Mhz CPU for those who want to downgrade.
Also in Wanganui for NZMCA 50th Jubilee Rally.
First multiple clue Cache for us, shame we
couldn't find it. Enjoyed the looking though!

5th holiday cache. In Wanganui for NZMCA 50th jubilee . Nice walk from Springvale Park. Novel way to locate cache really good fun even though cache not found. Please check since local council has given area a face lift and big clean up as feel cache is no longer
Second attempt. Last time about a year ago there was great activity about the site and couldn't get a good shot at it. Very surprised that it is still there after after painters gardeners and brickies had done their thing. However a local "toastie boy" has added his address and invitation to anyone, he plans to show you a good time!!!. So I wouldn't leave any TB's etc there.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Nice cache. We enjoyed the walk and the “searching†for the features. Unluckily the cache place was blocked by painters. Maybe next time.
Time to walk off the Christmas Day Pav. So headed to Virgina Lake. Full of childhood memories. An easy find - especially with the extended family doing the last wee search for the cache.
Took nothing but left a Te Papa phamplet.
cheers

We found this cache the night before, but came back in the morning. We managed to find it without a GPS. Taken Boris the Bumblebee.

Once I had a method sorted out I had little trouble finding the location using three of the clues. This is the most public cache I have yet found but poor weather on the day kept the muggles at bay. Left "peace" card, took clicker; dropped off Boris the Bumble Bee and picked up The Great Jedi Race Car #4.

Got the clues, but missed the cache. There is a major revamp in the area we were looking. In fact workmen had the area blocked off!!
So close and yet so far...ran out of time and had to return home without completing. Did this in the dark without first looking at the picture clues...just walked around and found 3 of the described spots. Must have walked over the cach a few times....will nail this next time in the area.
We really liked the way you set up this cache. Very cunning and a real treasure hunt. A lovely sunny day and lots of muggles around so had to time our pouncejust right! Used 2 of the locations to get to the cache.
In - McDonalds ruler and pencil
Out - Emery boards and reflector
Thanks for a nice outing and a stretch of the legs around a very pretty lake

We managed to find this with just 2 waypoints - just lucky with the path we took. Not too many people about which mad retrieval of the cache easy. TNLN. Greg and Bev

Popped by to read the logbook and drop off Jean-Luc II TB. The odd heavy shower has kept the strollers indoors.

Found with a little effort. Really helped that we both grew up locally and know the lake from so many walks around as children.
Just stopped and sat down near where we thought the final cache location would be, to figure out the place to go. Then Helen found it just like that.
A great cache, and a wonderful lake. It hasn't changed heaps in the last 20 years, the ducks are still as hungry as ever.
Boy was it hot there today.
+ manicure set
- Snow White

5.45pm. Finally found, was here yesterday (25th) but the lake was very busy on xmas afternoon. So came back after a good days motorbike racing on the streets. And found it quite quickly as not a lot of muggles around made for a more indepth search.

Found it after a short but fun search. Took niece an nephew for first find and they loved it (loved the ducks too). Took key ring, and pencils. Left snake, snow white and a beach buggy. Started Shrek on his search for Fiona.
Hi Folks,
Made a social call to drop in 'Super Owl' and a compass key chain!
