Find number 14172 at 8:47:46am on Thursday the 26 September 2024We're on our way to WA Goes Big, travelling from Croydon (Melbourne, Victoria) with a caravan in tow and making a leisurely caching holiday across the Nullarbor and back.Well, WA Goes Big is done for another year and we are on our way home again now, via Perth, Kalgoorlie and the Nullarbor but slowly over the next five weeks SmileToday we are off on an LGA hunt, heading south from Dawesville and travelling through the currently unlogged LGA's of Collie, West Arthur, Williams, Boddington and Murray, plus a side trip into the Thrombolites and the giant, Jyttes Hytte.Twas a bit harder to see as the water was high but still got a reasonable squiz.**Thanks for placing this cache TEAM LANDCRUISER**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.

Had a great day driving around finding a few caches with team adinache. Started with a 9 stage multi sand some Stromatolites at Lake Preston. Followed by lunch at a brewery. Then off to Martins Tank for a few caches along the track before attending the event. Not a big day for numbers but we got to tick off a few bucket list caches and visit some interesting spots. We are holidaying from the east coast and love finding spots like this. We wandered around doing the Earth Cache and AL, making comments about the Thrombolites, Samphire and the weird things floating /swimming past the jetty. Sadly no time to walk to the giant but we will make sure we call past again on the way back to Fremantle. Off to Bussleton Jetty for some different fun now. tftc. answers sent.

What a treat to come here and find the first ever Earthcache in WA....such a gorgeous location with loads of folks coming down to appreciate the beauty here! We thoroughly enjoyed our stroll down the jetty learning about the wetlands and the history here. The additional bonus was discovering there was a Giant nearby, we came for the thrombolites and the EC but after seeing so many people here we finally twigged.... we were doing the walk anyways so was nice to finally see the final Giant. TFTC and bringing me to this amazing area. I’m very interested in wetlands and did an extensive slide show with photos and information when I was teaching in the Cessnock area of NSW as our school had Wetlands on their property. I also live across the raid from wetlands and know the importance of them.?

The history of Stromatolites and Thrombolites in WA is fascinating, in some form or other for 3.7 Billion years !
How cool is that?
Checkmate! Young Earth Creationists!

Achilles thought he would take a break from fighting, and went with Briseis and baby Pyrrhus out to this quiet lake and came across this riddle.

But alas, unexpected danger lurked in the forms of hundreds and thousands of Arachne's minions, weaving their webs all along the path. Protecting the child, Briseis and Achilles managed to solve the riddle together and make a speedy escape.

12-Nov-22
Today the geocaching mission for TaurusSix and I was to head towards Preston Beach and then explore the Yalgorup National Park and onto Clifton Lakes and the Thrombolites area including all the surrounding wetland areas and lakes. Once again milder than expected but we do not mind this for geocaching. There were a few early spits of rain but otherwise a nice overcast day with the sun occasionally breaking through. In many of the areas we walked to collect geocaches unfortunately there were more exotic flowers than native wild flowers However it was certainly very colourful and we seemed to have a day of disrupting the sleeping mobs of kangaroos. What a wonderful area to explore.

This is our fifth cache find of the day in this truly magnificent area. It was very windy out on the boardwalk so much so the water was almost good enough to surf on. This meant viewing the thrombolites was not so easy. Never mind we will be back we just loved this area. Thanks for the earth cache TEAM LANDCRUISER we will submit our answers shortly.

03-Nov-22
Having done the earthcache at the Stomatlites when we saw we were staying not that far from this cache along the same lines we thought we would make it a target before we flew back to New Zealand Smile Enjoyed finding the necessary information and the answers to the questions have been sent to the cache owner. We took lots of photos and beat off lots of large mosquitoes!! Thanks for bringing us here and for the earthcache Smile

03-Nov-22
Having a holiday in WA we were just grabbing a few caches as we traveled. A few days earlier we completed one on the Stomatlites we then had our eyes glued to this one. Wasn't too far from where we were based too!! Time was quickly flying past so we made a dash out to here. Info sent by Niteowlnz to CO. Lots of pics taken between the mosquito attacks. Thanks for placing this earthcache.

Found on a trip to the west from South Australia.

After staying at Bunbury last night, I continued to make my way north to Mandurah, taking a rather circuitous route to find caches of interest, including this one.

Thanks TEAM LANDCRUISER for the earthcache.

12-Jul-22
I was hoping to stay at Lake Clifton but the caravan park didn’t look inviting. I backtracked here on sunset to complete the lab and log this find. Photos attached. Thanks.

11-Jul-22
We were very happy today when we woke up and found that yesterday's terrible weather had moved on and although it was still very windy and quite cool it was looking like a much better day for caching.
With a list of adventure labs, visuals and earth caches for today we headed off to try our luck

We really enjoy these Thrombolites and this is our second earth cache around them. The fact that there was a lab here as well meant that this was a definite to do four us today. We collected the answers for this earth cache easily and then went for a walk to have a look at them first hand. Unfortunately in the big wind and with a high tide the water was very rough and murky but we still managed to see what we came here for. We have sent our answers off to the CO and if they aren't good enough we will happily delete this log.

Many thanks for sharing this location with us.

Loved this one, we had a great stroll out on the trails to find some caches, before heading back to solve this one. We learnt a bit about the Thrombolites and attempted some citizen science with the QR codes provided - but were out of luck - before we headed back home for the day. TFTEC!

We had planned to do the nearby traditionals but couldn’t fight our way through swarms of midges. To future visitors, come prepared TFT Earth Cache

Thanks TeamLandcruiser, answers sent a few days ago
Just over 7 months since we left home and stated our lap, just over half way in our original time allocation and not even close to half way around the country… 25,000 ish km done, gosh we have seen a lot, but there is so much more to see.
Perhaps if/we I stopped looking at so many rocks, trees and beaches we wouldn’t be taking so long…then there are the flowers, old things and street art that keeps catching our attention.. maybe it’s the Geocaches… or the time we have spent prospecting, enriching our lives but not finding anything of material value, it’s all about the journey not the possessions. What ever it is, we are having a bloody brilliant time and I wouldn’t change a thing!
The last few weeks have been a bit blah with some bad news from the east, apologies for the late and generic log, catch up time a lot harder than I thought, I really need to make a concerted effort (even in difficult times) to stay on top of logs answers and photos.
Thanks for being one of the caches we found in the past few weeks.
