When I travel, I often forget to get coordinates for caches near the places I'm going, but my dear friend "cachecajun" or my wife Melanie will give them to me over the phone (sometimes, with no other information) as was the case with this waypoint. I spent about half an hour looking for a "traditional cache" when I decided to write off GCM3M4 as a "didn't find". Now, a couple of weeks after I got home, I see that this is an "event cache". Oops. I wondered why someone would hide a cache in the center of a busy street!! I suppose I can now log this one "found it!" on April 28, 2005.
[;(]Announcement!!!!
The Great Gold Nugget Hunt has been postponed due to lack of numbers.
Sad, Us oldies would have liked this one. I thought that considering the distance from home, PERTH. That the few who had expressed interest would have been enough for this one to go ahead. But what ever……….. Will watch this space.

Announcement!!!
As a result of the Twin Dams BBQ, The Great Gold Nugget Hunt Cache Event has been confirmed to be held on the Foundation Day long weekend, Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th June 2005.
Event will kick off Saturday Afternoon through to Sunday arvo with over night festivities at historic Ora Banda. Road trip of approx 200km loop over the two days, sucking in some great history along the way.
For those that can make it, we'll have a pre-event welcome at the magnificent York Hotel on Friday night in the middle of Hannan Street Kal - some pub grub and a few throat lubricants.
Finer details to be confirmed soon, including accomodation options so watch this space over the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime, please log your confirmations and any questions you may have.
The Westy Clan, The Flintstones, BJ Hilly, The Where's Wally's, The Paddy Trackers and the Midnight Dodgers (if they can get out of bed) are looking forward to welcoming cachers from all points of the compass and showing you a good time.

Great idea P T's, count as in for the barbecue at the Rotary Peace Park this Sunday. It may be a good hangover cure after the R&M Ball on Saturday night.

Well after much research on the net we were unable to find out where this park is. While passing the Tourist Info in Hannan St. we tried here for help and now we know. So for anyone that is interested the new Rotary Peace Park is located about at the above coords. Hope this is of some help to others as we had no idea.
See you there on Sunday

Hi Paddy Trackers,
The 13th is not a good day for us as Mr is on dayshift and would not be able to attend until after 6pm. However the 12th would be good as we are both off of work that day.
We think that a get together would be a great idea .
Rotary Peace Park sounds nice. Have you got the coords for it as we have no idea where it is. Failing that just the general address will do.
Let us know if you need a hand as we will be more than happy to help where we can.
Looking forward to catching up with you all.
Regards
Mark & Karen West

Well, we were starting to think there wasn't a lot of interest in the Great Gold Nugget Hunt (Unfortunaely we are a bit slow at responding at the moment due to email probs). Though it now seems that maybe there is. Can we suggest a meeting of the Kalgoorlie based geocachers, in the form of a famly type barbie (could be another cache event!) soon to throw the idea around - and to finally meet each other. There is the Westy Clan, Where's Wally's, BJ Hilly, The Flintstones and the Paddy Trackers and ????.
Can we suggest tentatively Sunday 13th March. Could be The newly opened Rotary Peace Park (very nice spot), Hammond Park or the bush somewhere. Any ideas?
If you would like any reasonable response times on the email, email to [email protected].
Cheers

This sounds interesting it might be an opportunity to set up a couple of pensioners for ever & ever & ever…………. GOLD FEVER …….
We will keep watch on this one, although it is a bit far away it might be worth the effort. A bit of old goanna/kanga in the fire etc. No just joking. Sounds like it will be fun for a couple of oldies.

Hey Guys,
I was on the forum this morning and read just a few post before proposing a "Gold Rush" out here in Dubbo (NSW). I doubt we will be crossing events but I though it was quite a coincidence when I had just posted and read the forum further to find an almost exact same event being hosted.
I'm happy to postpone if it creates confusion between caches.
Good luck with it.
Bronze.

What a fantastic idea - if this doesnt get the geocachers in what will??
Team Prado definately are interested in this event. Preference being the July School Holidays due to work committments over the June Long weekend.
Lets hope it's an "explosive" weekend of events Paddy Trackers if you catch my drift.

Count the Where's Wally's in - sounds like fun! Let us know how we can help out... As a prospecting family we have some great spots out there (where you wont be able to help yourselves but put down a cache or two!) If appropriate for this event, and for those with a detector... we could also organise a stop where you can (or a least try to)find gold nuggets legally.
Thanks PT's! and keep us informed.

We never know what we are doing but if we are free we will do our best to get there. We did have plans to go North again around that time of the year but it possible things can change. Sounds like you will have lots of plannin ahead of you.
Living in the area you can definatley count us in. So long as it is 2 wheel drive accessable and work shifts permiting. We will keep our eye on this event. We hope that it comes off and we can attend.
Sounds good to me, long weekends are always best, they just don't give us enough annual leave!
Prolly me/tha other half, and i might be able to drag my wannabe geocacher folks up from esperance:D
4wd is fine - so long as the elmofreakmobile can handle it:D

Look good! Interested to attend this event on the weekend. Look forward to go to the East for a change. Our preference is a long weekend.
TLC would be interested in attending the weekend. Sounds like a great excuse to head east for the weekend. Great idea Paddy Trackers.
