It was gone. Now it's back. With a slight change to the hint. Smile

06-Feb-11
I took a number of caches before this one came to light- the three piled on top of each other at Parliament House were the start- this is the only one left of them.

I had also done the three required caches- I had the final co-ords for Tourist Tours, Bug Off I could re-work as I remembered the word required and Torture Time came back easily. Then to Google Earth and the 'CD' [^] method employed by a various finder (very technical I know!).

Once at GZ everything fitted into place except for a cache- I must admit I didn't have a magnifying glass look but the clue was pretty good. I'll keep an eye on this one as I know I;m in the right spot.

The geoson spotted this one straight away after I had done the google earthing to determine GZ. Clever cache clue idea. TFTC

Great to see this one back online. Such prompt maintenance. B&S should be held up as an example to all cache hiders. Big Grin

This now completes the series with parliament house now an unfound-free zone. Initially didn't find it at the hinted spot, but only because I was expecting something magnetic. A second look located it. Very quiet here today in contrast with Friday.

You beauty! I'll be there tomorrow, by electric bike.

Yep. It's gone. sniff.
But wait ....
Yep, it's back ! with a slight change to the hint.

19-Feb-10
Well that was a bit of a let down. After weeks of going out and solving multis and parts of multis at lunchtime I finally get close to the GZ of this one and can't find a likely spot... So I read the hint and it doesn't sound anything like where I am, so I head towards the furtherst cache for a bit and cross a VERY busy road after seeing a hint of the right coloured box. I get to the proper GZ find exactly what is called for, but can't find the cache. The bar mentioned is there but there is nothing behind it. Checked all the other bars and also found nothing. I think this one is gone.

18-Feb-10
Normally I wouldn't log maintenance for a single DNF, but the hint was so specific that I really feel that the cache is gone.

06-Jan-10
I had previously spent some time working on this one and had come up with a likely GZ. Today I was in the area and after a short search I made the find. Thanks for a fun cache.

And what a fun cache this was. Had the relevant GZ's and thought the best thing was to just buy a map and go for it.
Had a great ride around a pretty big area (fun in itself) and after checking the calc's (again), and thinking about it (again), the general GZ area was jumped out at us.

We approached the GZ, and with the clue true to it's word, the cache was spied.

Thanks B&S, a good fun cache, both in the working out and nice little hide. Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

939 - Another cache that was a little bit different and out of the ordinary - loved it.

Just as Sol says, a bit of work on the map (lucky we found Torture time not long ago), a ride around the general area and Bingo we found it !!

TNLN - TFTC !! Nice to knock off another sort of 'oldie'...

Cheers....

This one has been on my list for over two years - and it has been my closest to home for three months. Finally got around to Tourist tours last Nov, and very quickly worked out the geometry (which was only off by 100 ft) [^]. However, working out the position and finally getting around to the cache ended up taking me another 3 months. Covered lots of other ground in the meantime.

Approached the area with clue in hand, and it turned out to be spot on. Caught my foot on some left over barbed wire, but we got rid of that mess. Doing an in/out coin drop since there isn't any room in the cache for trade items. Thanks for a challenging problem with a simple solution. Loved every km. Cheers.

Finally I managed to do the other caches and took on the challenge of this one.

Solved to find a likely GZ and went out to test in the field. All very close. Severe muggle infestation put off the find until later in the evening. A great challenge and very satisfying to complete. Tks B&S yet again......

Hooray, 1st find on a caching day at 0650 after 2 DNFs. With hintage from the owner this was an easy snafle HOORAY!

20-Dec-08

Checked out the cache - still there, dry & untouched for 16 months! ... B&S

17-Dec-08
After contact from the owner letting me know I wasn't too far away, I found the correct GZ with the hint.

But no luck on the cache...perhaps missing?

16-Dec-08
Having done the requesite caches many years ago, I had to work backwards to get some coords. I came up with a reasonable guess and headed to my GZ. Nothing resembled the information in the hint. I'll have to contact the owner and see how far off I am.

18-Aug-07
After picking up a two of the required caches in the last few weeks I had all the info I needed. Using a good technique Mrs Bent showed me, I had the correct location for the cache. I went there on Monday evening in the dark with no luck but today it only took 10sec.

Great concept, another top bubble & squeak cache.

easy find after much legwork. never would have of expected to find shipping container there! thanks for the education of drawing circles in google earth.

31-Jul-07
Thanks for this cache, bubble & squeak.

It also helped me to find "bug off" since when the circle led me to an incorrectly coloured clue, I realised that I had messed up my arithmetic on the bug-off cache.

Found with Bewilderbeest and the geokids. This one has been on the To Do list for quite a while so it was good to finally get around to crossing it off. Found the location without any trouble (surprisingly). TFTC

Foud with SuperJaz. We didn't really have great tools to nail down the location of this one, but I guess we did alright - we drove up and parked right next to it! Found it surprisingly quickly, too.

L: U4D TB (just fits)

Thanks to bubble & squeak for another top challenge

Finally I get to cross this one off my list. A lesson for the future - it really helps to keep historical records! Did lots of walking around in BIG circles to find the cache location - I should have gone with my first suspicions. TFTC.

I only recently realised I had all three of the pre-requisite caches completed. With Google Earth and the clue, it was a straight forward find, even if I started at the wrong end... Thanks.

564. Finally completed the last part of the requirements this morning so naturally had to finish this one off. CoolAid made the find after we had walked to GZ from the other side. Unfortunately I had forgotten a pen so we had to retreat to the car. We then drove back to GZ and returned the cache.

TFTC and for showing me another use for an old CD.

Having recently completed Tourist Tours, we were in reach of doing this one. We hadn't saved the final coords of the other two, but still had enough scribbles on pages to reconstruct, then did the guesswork on googlearth to narrow down the area. Found with ease. A very original and rewarding cache, thanks.

I used the no-name CD tool as suggested. It got me right close to the area. I was surprised at how easy it was to use my GPS to find the centre of the circle - thanks for the lesson.

I went on Monday but I had my good clothes and shoes on, and I had reservations bending over and kneeling right down - so I didn't locate it.

Never mind, CT worked his way through the process this time and got us both back to the same GZ today. I was just starting to kneel down and have a more thorough "up close and personal" look. Instead, of course, CT yells out "Got it" after 1 nanosecond.

This is a simple but clever cache.

Thanks Bubble & Squeak.

Found @3:30pm with SecretSquirrel-BJC. I was looking forward to finding this cache, having finally found the other caches and could therefore pinpoint the GZ. Tried working out the coordinates on a map but never even got close. SS had the right idea using the GPSr and we soon had the right spot. A quick find, log and leave. TFTC.

I worked out the final coords this week and decided to grab it on the way though.
I used geometry to work out the GZ.

Fired up the Google Earth, upgraded to the latest version and then using the old grey matter I placed a few pointers where I thought I had found the previous caches. Was a bit concerned that one of them may have moved but after reading the logs I was able to determine that I had found it in its current location. Using a handy measuring tool on the the Dell 24" LCD (a Blank DVD) we zoomed and panned the map until the three points were on the edge and then by looking through the hole in the centre we arrived at our possible search area. All very technical I know. oh, for those technically minded we used Strathfield DVDs. We did not test any other models to see if they produced similar results (future exercise when it is raining again?) Took the brave step at going outside in the rain to test our theory and arrived at our suspect search area. After reading the hint we determined that the area matched the clues so we got out and got wet. The things we do for caching. We were rewarded with a find and upon opening the container were pleased that it was the cache we were looking for. Not much yellow to be seen today as there was a definate blue layer although this may not last. Thanks for the exercise and the chance to try a different style of caching.

First find in what turned out to be a full Australia Day of easy finds (7 in all. Fore! (and allrounder) did the hard stuff and I 'shadowed' them to the find. Nice location, although busy on Australia Day.

Found this one on Australia Day with Shadow! What a great day for caching!

After having to retrace our steps to Tourist Tours (on the way to Fallen, perhaps) we could then plot the circle for this one. I got so hung up on circles that I made a bit of a boo boo that was soon corrected.

None the less, we arrived and had it in hand pretty quickly.

Always fun to tackle B&S caches! - a sense of accomplishment was had!

Dropped past to collect this one just on 7:00am, it really stands out at this time of day. I had a look here a couple of weeks ago with no joy, I thought I might have screwed up the location but everything else fitted. Thanks for fixing this one up.

The area has been cleaned up (what a tidy little local council we have) and the cache is gone. Make that 'was gone', cause I'll be putting it back before lunch today. It is now magnetic.

19-Jan-07
Found @ 12:06pm. Yippee!

FTF for 2007 & FTF new container.

Found on the way to my regular Friday lunchtime run.

Thanks for replacing it so quickly - I really enjoyed figuring out this one.

18-Jan-07
Attempted to find this after finding "Mirror Image".

Completed "Torture Time" at lunchtime today so that I had the final co-ords to calculate this one.

Used Google Earth again & confirmed the location by analysing the logs. Once at GZ used the hint to see where I had to look but couldn't find a thing in 20minutes of searching except a tennis ball which I threw back over the fence.

As it hasn't been visited since February last year perhaps it has been muggled?

Will contact the owners.

Woops forgot to log this one when I did it. The above date may be out by a few days. Good one. The clue helped heaps. I already had a suspicion it was in this general area as I had noticed the containers from the nearby roundabout, though needed to complete Tourist Tours to confirm. Thanks Bubble and Squeak for another cache to make one think and learn.

Excellent idea for a puzzle. Nice one to do mostly inside in the warmth of winter. Was spot on with my calculations, so now I can go and retrieve 'Bug Off' which I should also have right. Thanks B&S for the cache. TNLN. Left the A-lure-ing Stumpy TB.

Well, my calculations were off yet again, well off. I was about 400m away. Without the hint I would not have found it. TNLN.

Well after finaly picking up Tourist tours, I was able to find this one in short order.

estimated the position and drove to within 10M of site.

Found it easily this time. I was just having a bad day before. My algebraic solution got me to within 25 metres of the cache site.

30-Jan-05
Did my maths, found a location which matches the description perfectly, yet no cache. Unless it's buried. Then again, I seem to be blind this weekend because didn't find most of the caches I went looking forSad

14-Jan-05
Used PhotoShop to draw on a map of Canberra with the three caches. Trail and error method that gave me the rough location and the clue made it easy. Clever cache. TNLN

05-Jan-05
I co-opted a couple of work mates to help with the calculations - the boss couldn't work it out as we were plotting different circles on the Canberra street map that hangs on our wall. After putting the 3 GZ's in we figured the area and with the assistance of the clue we found it pretty easily. Nice cache. TNLN

As I first started to look in to doing this cache I thought it would be easy as one of the caches I own and the other 2 I found a long time ago. Until I realised that one of them has moved since I found it. So I put it on the back burner for a while until I built up the enthusiasm to find t' tours again. But last week I had a brain wave.
If I plot the perpendicular line at the centre point between the 2 points I know I will get a line of points. Then if I call upon my local knowledge, make a few educated guess and try my luck Razz

Well on my second guess I got it right. Easy.

Now after finding the cache I am wondering if all this plotting can be used to find the centre of a sphere (Marble)

Warning SurprisedSurprisedSurprised
I did find a little saline solution bottle in the leaves near the cache. So this may mean there are sharps around.
Be careful!!!

This was easier than I thought it would be. I went for a bit of a drive last night to get the final coords of 2 of the caches and worked the third out on paper. Then armed with sophisticated mathematical instruments, i.e. a map and a ruler, we identified an area that looked possible. I had the cache 15 minutes after parking the car and a short walk. This was a very clever cache. Good work B&S and thank you.

26-Dec-04
Having placed a few similar caches it was interesting to see if I could find one. Without my computer software or other accessories I determined the cache area on a tourist map. Never went to search for "Buf Off" final location but now the calculated coords became in use anyway Big Grin To find the box I had to read the hint. I like this type of caches a lot.

With map, pencil & ruler, I determined the cache location at the centre of the circle in 30 seconds.
Determining the intersection point of the Perpendicular Bisectors of the chords connecting the known waypoints was easy with map in hand. I knew the exact location on the map of the waypoints, so this was easy.

I goofed though in not ensuring the angle was exactly 90 degrees, it was 88 degrees and on a 1:100,000 map and over the distances of several km, my resultant intersection point was 150m out! DOH!
After a query to B&S, I tried again, made sure of 90 degrees, this time got to within 10m – AH – much better – and found the cache.

Note for future geocachers – If you were one of the earlier finders of Tourist Tours, take note the final location has changed from its original one.

Anyway, found the cache just as a front came through and dumped a considerable bit of moisture on me – quite pleasant seeing as it was 30 degrees though.

Took the “Cache Watcher†TB, left a KIWI TB I picked up in Wellington, NZ.

Then it was Cooeee off I went in the rain on the bike.

Searched high, low, far & wide – no sign of said tall wire fence, barbed wire, yellow shipping containers or any other described item. It fact it appears there has been a wholesale cleaning up of the construction site. Did not go into private property or where signs forbade me to go. Got me mystified. Is it all still there????

28-Nov-04
I thought I was all cached out for the weekend, but when I saw this one on Sunday morning I just couldn’t resist… For me this cache involved sitting in front of the computer for 1/2 an hour trying to work out how to do the maths! I’m sure there must be formulas for this, but I decided on the trial and error method. (Was only 16m out in the end!). This cache turned out quite easy for me, but that’s because I knew the end locations of the caches in question Big Grin – it will take somewhat longer if you haven’t done those!
Now, what I want to know, is how many caches around the place did you find the centre of, until you found one with a decent hiding spot at the centre! – Very well done! TNLN.
Thanks bubble & squeak for another great cache!

Were hoping to get the FTF for this cache but we took a slight detour (buying an airconditioner) along the way and ThomasS was too quick for us.

Like ThomasS we had completed the three required caches and luckily had kept the details, so plotting the coordinate did not prove to hard and once we got the general location Mrs S remembered seeing something similiar to the clues whilst driving along numerous times and before long we were at GZ and had the cache in hand.

Thanks to Bubble & Squeak for yet another cache with a difference, as usual it proved to be quite pleasing to solve your puzzle and get the goods.

T - Nothing
L - Watcher TB (to find it look on the underside of the bars, its keeping a VERY CLOSE eye on the cache)

Attended a wedding last night, so by the time I'd logged on today my chance for a FTF was gone [|)]. Used Oziexplorer to find a point the same distance from all three locations. Another option (as Thomas mused) is to find the formula for the circumcentre of a triangle... I'm sure it's on the net somewhere..
A quick find once there. Kicked a soccer ball back over the fence (twice) to be helpful.
Checked that Cache Watcher TB is happily keeping guard.
Took marble, left euro cent.
