We are slowly winding our way towards Alexandra and enjoying stopping to pick up caches along the way.I'd identified this cache as a suitable target to do for my 15,000th cache. It ticks a lot of boxes. It's an old cache, placed the same year I started caching. It's an amazingly beautiful historical bridge. And it's an ammo can - who doesn't love finding those. We took lots of photos to mark the milestone cache find. Thanks for putting a cache here all those years ago.
The next leg of rattll and my South Island road trip, whatever number this one is. Today, we're starting in Middlemarch, heading up to Ranfurly, then coming back down the Manuherikia River to Alexandra. After our morning cycle, time to hit the road. We've discovered that one of our indicator lights on the van has stopped working, nowhere to get it fixed before Alex, so no time to dawdle (except for some caches, of course). We'd targeted this cache for the day, as on oldie, but also for it's spectacular location. A quick find at GZ. All good. Signed, and returned as found. Then spent an extra ten minutes getting photos of the bridge (see rattll's log). An FP from me. Tftc!
Found with graceygirl1234 while staying in Naseby for Australian Curling National Championships. TFTC
Had looked at this bridge in my precaching days so worth a return visit.. You dont see many caches like this - they made them robust in the old days. Cache exactly as described with also a well defined Geo trail. Thanks for bringing me here again.
Ive been here on many occasion but it was great to visit with Nelzarama today to collect this fab cache.A much photographed spot, especially in the winter months and a cool old historical bridge.TFTC
Heading out on a bit of a drive today with Kubabelle, this was our first stop.A beautiful historical bridge with some interesting history. We continued on into Ophir where we enjoyed some more history. The cache itself was a good sized find and everything was in good condition. Our names are now added to the log. Thanks for placing a cache here

I happened to be driving over it and stopped right after as I wanted to check it out. Plus, it turns out there was a cache nearby. Thanks for the find.
Wicked! Big cache and easy to find. Dogo got frustrated at us looking through it lol
Neat little hiding spot near a fascinating historical bridge. If it was a bit further away from the road, would be a nice spot for a picnic. Easy find - first ammo box. Yay! Thanks
31 December 2023 11:00 TFTC GSVNoFixedAbode for placing this cache, number 13219 for me. Thank you for keeping this old cache going, still in excellent condition after all this time.

After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. What a beautiful structure along with some history. We had the location to ourselves as we snapped some pics and located the cache. Soon our ink was on the log as we headed off to the next smiley. Awarding a blue ribbon to this hide. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
Could see this one a fair way away and the lid wasnt closed properly. Rehid a bit better. Beautiful bridge. TFTC
1MinnieMoo and I had decided to travel out of wet Queenstown - and settled for more windy parts of central Otago. We targeted this cache because of its age.And we were not disappointed. We parked up and had a look at the old landmark. We soon found the well-hidden prize and signed the log. A great excuse for a cache. TFTC GSVNoFixedAbode
21/9/2023 Find #6574Day 13 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo New Zealand South Island adventure. The weather in Queenstown wasnt expected to be fantastic so we decided to head to Arrowtown then further on for some older caches. We pulled in here and Fangsoki at first thought we were to go through the gate to the tower in there. My phone was pointing me however towards a much more likely tower, and we made our way over. A little look under this spot and under that and the cache came to light. Thanks for the cache GSVNoFixedAbode.
You know how sometimes you get somewhere and after the initial 5 mins of staring in awe you think... "there's probably a geocache here..." and then without checking you glance around and instantly find one... This cache was perfect. TFTC! Loved it!
We came from the Ophir township direction and it gave us a bit of a surprise. Wonderful structure and a quick find of the cache. tftc
Got stopped in Omakau for 20 minutes while two parts of a house on trucks negotiated the road through the town. Decided too veer off down here to a. let the traffic clear, and b. grab a smiley. Worth the detour, love the bridge. TFTC
Out for a wander along from Ophir.
Found by a happy geokiddo.
Ammo can reminiscent of my days letterboxing on the moors.

Out for a drive to go horse riding in Cromwell l, we drove over this bridge, and remembered finding the cache here this time last year, even though it was showing green, not a smiley. Turns out the person who’s job was to log as I drove (shall remain nameless!) had forgotten to log it! Time to turn the green into a smiley again! Great cache, quite a lot of bees about so the mini cachers were a little anxious! Very cool spot, and Ophir nearby is a gorgeous little town. TFTC.
A delightful landmark, thanks for the detour, no thanks to the local who shook her head at us as we were just walking back from the find. No fun Karen. Tftc, took the travel bug to come on the flight home.
Found by way of Dunedin.Greetings from the Czech Republic and Thanks For This Cache. TB in.

Had been looking for a cache for about an hour but many enroute were tricky to pullover to. This one sounded interesting and we happened to be passing by it! What a spectacular bridge...loved seeing the old logbook and writings etccin the good sized cache. Thanks
TFTC! Didn’t have a pen on me but loved looking through the history of finds in the two logbooks. Great wee hide, and an easy find. Ammo case a great touch.
Beautiful old bridge. Love Ophir, great buildings. Stopped to check out the pub. Tftc
Very cool bridge and lots of photos taken. Been a while since we have found one of these caches. Everything in good order. I loved the road approach to the bridge from Ophir, through the rock face. TFTC
Wow there's a name I haven't seen in a while. But the bridge was an absolute treat, such a cool old structure and obviously very well built.Cache was a quick find.TFTCP.S Sorry for very late logging.
What a lovely old bridge. After a few pics, we set about finding the cache, no problems here. Took the cache container up to show my aunty in the car who was learning all about caching on this Christmas afternoon. Thanks
Beautiful scenery, bit of history, and we had Sunshine and bright skies when we were here.
Sun is out!
After a damp morning, we found out way here. Enjoying finding places I've not been to before.
One cool bridge

We spent the night at the nearby Blacks Hotel, which was an awesome spot. So I was excited to see a couple of nearby caches, and this one was at such a great site, so had to be collected!
A weekend trip was planned awhile ago to venture up to national park with watcache and xsaveya and hopefully up the mountain to have a play in the snow. Having such a fun weekend and caching as well tops the weekend.

What a stunning little bridge. Pleased I made the short sidestep to see it and find the cache. Several vehicles made use of it while I was there today. Thanks for bringing me here GSVNoFixedAbode TFTC # 17,200
A trip has been planned for 4 days away (1-4th May, 2021) to collect all off “RIMA” – part of the Pokai Whenua Geo Tour in the bottom third of the South Island including Stewart Island. This time round, there is myself, rustynz, Rebel98, FMZ and his skeleton called Bruce. We have picked up a car at Dunedin airport and will return there.
My first cache for the day, 12:48pm, that's a first! Usually when us Auckland westies go away, we have done 20 ish caches by now. But it's the way we have travelled, one of our team had to get a cache at Karitane from the previous geotour. Love the bridge, wasn't expecting to stop here, but one of our drivers decided to and I'm pleased about that. Nice big ammo can here. Thanks for the cache.
