Destroyed by fire. Very sad that this long standing cache has been toasted. Not the first of my caches to go that way. I'll free the location up for a local to take on. Hope someone does. The tower needs to be admired.

31-Dec-17
Not really a DNF as there is NO information sign at the listed co-ords to get the needed numbers to calculate GZ.
Had a guess to some of the answers but didn't come up with anything.
If I had more time it would be possible to force the answer but thats something I didn't have.
Can the CO fix this up or at least disable it until it can be looked at.

16-Dec-17
Reckon this one needs a look at. As far as I can tell it's gone and as per previous comments the area has been well burned not too long ago.

16-Dec-17
As per my comment.

01-Dec-17
Too hard without first sign. Saw no obvious area relating to the hint. Would recommend a co visit or disable if not able to get here in a timely fashion. Interesting spot either way.

24-Oct-17
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

20-Oct-17
No luck today, all gone by a bushfire.
The notice board with the information has gone, burnt by bushfire.
All round the tower fire has been.

15-Apr-17
Was really difficult to find this one as I couldn't find the first cache. But managed to work out where it was from one of the comments.

Really cool tower and view.

Forgot the clues but figured it out. Replaced the pen. Thanks.

Today was exploring the BB NP. Awesome views and beaches. Got the coords pretty easily and headed off towards GZ. Luckily for me the cache was quite uncovered and I spotted it on approach. Didn't need the hint Smile. My GZ was a few metres off. Signed log. Took nothing. Covered up well Wink. Tftc

Sat down at the look out to work out the co-ordinates and got distracted for some time watching whales in the distance! After a while Geomum and Geoteen went off in search of this cache which initially had us walking around in circles because we couldn't see what was right in front of our faces!! The usually unlucky Geoteen claimed this find. TNLN. TFTC Smile

21-Oct-16
No luck today.

26-Jun-16
Great spot. Double checked our co-ordinates. And was any easy find. TFTF

24-Jun-16
Solved the questions, found the ants home but not the cache. A few recent tree falls may have hidden it???

14-May-16
On our way through New South Wales and a little bit of Victoria we came to this cache.
It is a nice and long journey.
The weather is sometimes sunny and sometimes rainy.
Thank you very much for leading us here and hiding the cache.
Greetings from Switzerland,
Resbug Smile

Out and about having a look around Boyd today. Whilst we were here we couldn't go past working out the info we needed for this multi. Boyd tower was well worth the look, whilst we were there we soaked in the view which was superb. Thanks djcache for bringing us out here

Came to Boyds Tower to drop off four 15 &16 year old Majura venturers from Canberra who were heading off on the Light To Light walk on this March long weekend. After obligatory start-off photos, the base party of Mrs MajuraHathi, MajuraHathi and The Split were left to check out the tower in mist this morning. We counted the lizards and dodged the massive spider orbs as we made our way to the originally mis-calculated GZ to the amusement of Mrs MH (too much rush and not enough
attention - geocachers disease?) and then to the correctly and perfectly aligned GZ where The Split and MajuraHathi found the well located cache.
Thanks for the fun this morning at Boyds Tower!
Cheers
MajuraHathi

First trip we failed because we didn't read the description properly. Second time was an easy find having the right coordinates.

08-Nov-15
Found with Boot65. Lovely spot, well worth the visit and paying to enter the park.

08-Nov-15
4456. Found with Relish64. We gathered the info, paid for our pass and wandered in for a quick find. It was then off to the impressive tower and the views.
Thanks for the cache and bringing us to this impressive spot. Worth a favorite.

I grew up in the Eden valley in the UK so thought it was worth a trip to the Aussie version. Lovely views and a lot warmer weather than the uk version!! After a dnf on a previous log I was not sure if the cache would be here or not but it is still there and in good condition and an easy find. TFTC

Suscoe's 7th find of the afternoon as we wandered the back blocks south of Eden with Phetlern.
We had just finished the SST trail and this was a good opportunity to locate some further off the track caches.
What a terrific area, we remembered coming here a few years ago and it still is as interesting as it was back then.
Calculations done and the search took place.
The cache was found, logged and returned to its hiding spot.
Thanks to djcache for this hide.
What a great structure.

The plan this afternoon, with our fellow Victorians the Suscoe duo, was to head south as far as this cache and work our way back to Merimbula. In contrast to the last couple of days, around the SST series, the ratio of caches to kilometres was vastly different in the south.
It was interesting to read of the exploits of Benjamin Boyd. There has certainly been a change in our attitude to whaling!

We sighted Andy Warhol Geocoin (TB3RYRB) still in the cache.

Our thanks to djcache for bringing us here.

We were staying nearby so went for a stroll to look for this cache, after getting the coordinates, I headed off. The GPS had trouble getting a reading under the tea tree but the cache was found soon enough. Great spot, even though we have been here many times it is always a pleasure to visit. TN L TB TFTC

Cache find #2061. We came to this same place early last year, and there was another cache up here. Today we found the info we needed to come up with a set of coordinates, that soon found us at the cache. Took the pathtag. TFTC.

Found by The Empire + H @ 4pm
Great historical information at WP1 and the walk to GZ was a great reason to check out some more lookouts. That's where I saw the whale! They don't hang around for a long time, more feeding and less frolicking. WWish I'd seen some frolicking. Thanks for the cache djcache.

What an excellent puzzle - thankyou! Well all enjoyed this one on a rainy Saturday afternoon Smile

Fantastic views. Great hide too. Tftc.

13-Apr-14
Like many others, we too missed the info board. We quickly rectified this situation and grabbed the interesting info. Then headed down to GZ. Hint: if you mix up A and C you will end up in the ocean, and then, after only fixing one of the numbers you will end up near a termite hill with no cache beside it. Once I fixed that we quickly found the cache then spent some time looking at the tower. I'm disappointed we didn't come during whale season. What a spectacular piece of history and the view is awesome. Thanks so much for bringing us here.

Worked out the new GZ but was followed in by muggles so I went to the tower sight seeing and took a photo for the muggles then they left. Found the cache dropped off a TB and was on the path before the next lot of muggles turned up.
Thanks djcache for the cache

Out on a long-weekend-long caching adventure with BatgirlandCo.

Well this was a little embarassing... we managed to miss the incredibly obvious information needed to answer the questions! Red Face But after much wandering and head scratching we worked out where we'd gone wrong...

We then soon had the cache in hand. And saved the best until last... Whilst signing the logs we heard and saw several whales swim past!!! SurprisedBig Grin Wow! Best GZ ever!!!!

TFTC!

Did we have a whale of a time or what? Most definitely!

Car-trouble on an attempt to get to Green Cape exactly 12 months ago ended that trips caching exploits and entailed some disasters of our own but admitedly although not to plan we still enjoyed some local sights, sounds and caches in the vicinity. We almost thought that this trip may end in another Disaster when, having completed the earthcache at Disaster Bay, we were confronted with lots of Road/Area closed signs. Thankfully the park ranger arrived whilst we were considering our options to re-open everything! Thank goodness we didn't get up early and miss that! Had we been only a few minutes earlier we might have turned away (I was briefly thinking we were going to have to make another trip next year for this). So with everything up and running we spotted HEAPS of whales, diving birds, lizards, a goanna, a rather pretty python (yes folks - it's warming up), a sea eagle and lots more!

As for this multi - we managed to miss the sign on the way in. I have no idea how - we must have been off in some surreal whaling moment. Wandered up to the Tower wondering what we should be finding or doing discussing Boyd's exploits and couldn't figure it at all. Returned to the start point only to see the sign right there large as life (may as well had had a 10 foot tall blinking neon sign with arrows saying 'Look at this!').

Anyway once the answers were derived we sheepishly returned down the track to GZ and soon had the cache. Whilst signing it we heard some strange sounds and soon realised what it was. Yes - a group of at least 3 (and I think 4) whales being very noisy, calling, blowing and splashing about at the foot of the cliffs!!!!!! What a sight!! And to think - if we had figured it out the first time we would have missed that too.

A day of amazing timing and cool coincidences. So glad we managed to get here this time - it was totally awesome and well worth it!

A nice stroll and a great view tfth it was fun

05-Jul-13
Well a lesson was learnt today - look at the GPS instead of concentrating on the item concerned. We had been here several times in the past. Walked to the tower and then pulled the GPS out to check the details! Almost tried to cheat (and I would have been successful) however did the correct thing. We have done most of our day's exercise in one cache! However it was all v ery enjoyable. Found at 1230hrs, took nothing and left our usual ladybug. Thanks djcache.

A great spot with an amazing tower. We all wanted to get inside and go up the tower. It was a shame it wasn't open to the public. Once we found the cache it was time to start the Light to Light Walk.

The starting point for our Light to Light Walk! Out walking today with Jemmalong (Mr, Mrs, & Junior!) and Yvonne.
We got the clues, solved for 2nd WP and then headed off to enjoy some views and find the cache. After the find, it was time to strap on the backpacks again and start the walk properly.
This was a great spot for a cache, I enjoyed the visit.
TNLNSL, thanks for the cache djcache!
best wishes,

Found at 12.00pm
We were wandering around the area, taking a break from boating at Mallacoota.
A lovely location with stunning views, if you ignore the mill next door.
One wonders why the tower was never declared a lighthouse - politics?
We also visited the nearby historic whaling station.

Thanks

Located the cache and noticed that the termites were not interested in the plastic cache container. Signed the log and replaced the cache then it was off to check out the other attraction nearby. This is the 801st find for WazzaAndWenches

Day five of our family holiday; We're in Merimbula for another couple of days then heading for a visit to Questacon in Canberra before returning to Echuca.

With the weather being a bit unkind today we spent most of the day inside. Late afternoon we decided to take a short drive down the coast to Eden and that then ended being a longer drive to visit a location we last visited almost twenty years ago.

We left our Victorian CFA Parks Pass on the dashboard hoping it would pass for a valid park entry if an inspector came along while we walked to GZ.

Cache info was gathered then the cache was quickly found while the Wench took a few photos.

Thanks djcache.

Found by Mary & David at 1205. Happily paid our 'Day Use' fee to begin this magical experience. The most incredible views , and we were lucky enough to spot a pod of dolphins chasing fish just off the coast, with a cloud of seagulls wheeling overhead. At the north ground floor window, there are crosses carved in the outer wall, and an inscription to Peter, who was killed, we assume during construction, carved into the window sill. Having seen the rocks along the headland, we understand why they called it Red Point. Our thanks to djcache.

12-Nov-09
As I was coming from the south, I did these two out of turn. It certainly is an amazing structure though. Pity about the ladders (although I suspect the Parks people are worried about people climbing, as there are several signs saying - don't!).
I walked all the surrounding paths and photographed all the views. Maybe you should consider an Earthcache nearby?
Thanks, Robmc.

A very interesting spot, with quite a colourful history. Attitudes have changed hugely since this was built. We noted a rock or two missing from the top of the structure, and hope the local council keeps it intact, for the history and the lessons it holds.
A magnificent day to visit, and to make it more interesting, we were greeted by a couple of whales cruising in front of us.
Found the cache fairly easily, once we had checked out the area.
Thanks DJ for a most interesting bit of history.

Found by Team Ladava on the return trip from our Cup Week Capers in Merimbula.
Another cache another wonderful location.
My how the world has changed since the days when whaling was very much an accepted enterprise.
Parked and paid our dues at the signboard, gathered the required information and off toward GZ to gaze in awe at the audacious structure and wonder at the skill of the craftsmen who constructed it.
What a fascinating part of our pioneering history.

Made our way back to car park and spent 20 minutes chatting with a retired couple from Melbourne who had visited Eden in May, found their paradise and were still in the nearby caravan park in November.
Our thanks once more to djcache for the cache and bringing us here.

Found this on the last day of our extended weekend in Boyd National Park. Fantastic area and interesting facts about the whaling era.

As both kids were asleep in the car we had to do this one separately, GPS had me walking around in circles for a while before I located the cache.

04-Oct-09
This place has an interesting history. Some of our current world financial crisis was caused by over-committed entrepeneurs so it's interesting to read about Boyd's misadventures all those years ago. The impressive structure is still in great condition and a testomy to it's designers and builders. Thanks for bringing us here to this great spot - some passing whales would have capped off a perfect day, but we guess you can't have everything go exactly according to plan.
