Logs

13-Apr-13
I should have read the previous logs and would have known it was missing.

05-May-12
Needless to say, yellow submarine was there!
The cache has noiw been recovered and wil be placed somewhere new - as a Little G cache in the future.

25-Apr-12
LG found yellow submarine on 25/4 /12 and will contact CO to see what he would like to do with icon of a cache

15-Mar-12
I had downloaded caches along the cycle route before this was archived. Had a look but couldn't find it. This water feature is such a gem that a replacement cache would be very welcome.

27-Feb-12
I can't believe that this could have gone missing - but am archiving it as the long string of DNFs suggests that it has.

24-Jan-12
Night time caching didn't help with finding this.

18-Jan-12
had two goes and got a clue but still couldn't find it, must have had a man's look ........

16-Jan-12
no find ....

25-Dec-11
Had a good look after failing to find this cache three years ago.I will try again before heading home in a few days...thanks for the continuing adventure.

18-Dec-11
Didn't have much time to have a decent look, managed to rip my shorts though...

27-Nov-11
Gave it a good go but it beat me, seems I am in good company.

20-Nov-11
did not read the instructions properly but ill be back good place pretty cool water wheel

alexander

13-Nov-11
Finally. about 3 attempts, but the first serious look. Only took about 2 minutes and no trouble opening the cache. TFTC

08-Oct-11
This has been the one that LG has had his eye on for so long & looked most times we passed without success. Spurred on by the success of TikvaNZ and his systematic style . It was still a challenge (even armed a nudge in the right direction ) but we had mainly been looking in the correct location and still came up empty handed ! To be honest LG had put in the most of the effort , while Magic sort of stumbled across it! - Not what we were expecting which was half the problem all along . Container proved no issues opening thank goodness Nothing would have given Magic more pleasure than LG finding it but it is funny how it goes some times. The main thing is that the monkey is off our backs . Thanks LGM

02-Oct-11
I stopped here very briefly just before the second snowstorm hit. It was very windy and extremely cold. The water was freezing so I decided to leave it for another day. Today after dropping my son & his girlfriend at Orana Park I went for a blat around McLeans Island on the bike and then headed out to attempt this cache. Given its reputation this was the only cache I was aiming for today and allowed myself an hour to find it. Within 10 minutes of taking things slowly I came up trumps. It nearly took as long to open the cache. TFTC.

03-Sep-11
drat very cold water imported specially I guess to foil unprepared cachers . we'll be back . thanks for the cool water feature

20-Aug-11
Water very cold tonight. I will be back!

31-Jul-11
Finally attempted this after hearing all of the hype...took a chance and found it very quickly! TFTC

17-Jul-11
Finally found after months of hunting and freezing but luckily after finding it, it only took 5 minutes to open, nice hide.

08-Jul-11
Easy find, the water was cold though, big storm brewing up in the hills. My hands were too cold to figure out how to open it though. Will have to come back and work that out another time when passing. Thanks

05-Jun-11
To tricky for us today may try another time while not pushed for time.
WILL BE BACK!!

08-Mar-11
TFTC. ?This was enjoyable and worth the effort of the hunt and then the contemplation to open it with out applying pressure.

19-Feb-11
We are sure we were looking in right place but could find nothing despite half hour looking. Sad

19-Feb-11
No joy. Will try again soon

08-Jan-11
Hahaha. Neat one. All very logical tho when you think about it. We put the logbook in a new plastic bag too. I think the container was as hard to put back together as it was to take apart! SL. Cool

05-Jan-11
Found! Took us around 10-15 minutes to locate this one, and around 5 minutes to figure out how to open the device. Great idea for a cache. Thanks Moneydork

We didn't know this had been found yesterday when we stopped to have a quick look and only knew it had two recent DNFs, so probably didn't give the search the effort required.

27-Dec-10
After two DNFs at the last two I looked for I wasn't to hopeful when I read the logs for this but it wasn't too far away and I have always wanted to check this one out. Imagine my surprise after a wee bit of searching the find was made!. Now the next stage was to extricate the log, no tools to be used but a nice sunny day over this side so I was prepared to spend a bit of time if need be but the log was signed relatively quicky, the cache was replaced and I left one happy cacher!
Thanks
erninz

21-Nov-10
Hi Moneydork
Sad to say, we didn't find it,
We did have a good idea of where we should be looking, and spent a bit of time without luck.
A muggle victim?

06-Oct-10
Last cache search of the day. Found the first 5 but not this one. Wondered whether it had been moved or taken as no logged 'found' since June. However, trying to use the Geocaching app on an iPhone was not successful as there is patchy Vodafone coverage at the site. Ah well, the rest of the day was a great school holiday activity for the kids who all said "Please can we do this again next holidays?" [|)]

03-Oct-10
Struggled, also had people waiting in the car, should have taken down the clue

01-Jul-10
Will find this one day. Gee that water is cold!!!

19-Jun-10
2nd visit to this site today, first time didn't have GPS with us, found it pretty quickly with it. Nice challenge getting in to the submarine too. Cheers TFTC

18-Jun-10
Looked for quite a while...and got wet/dirty searching.. but just couldn't find this one...

23-May-10
Tried but had impatient people waiting in car. Next time.

14-May-10
(103) 4th for the afternoon, and going well... Took me a little while to find, but I must of struck it lucky as only took a couple of mins to figure out how to open it.. Great idea.. TFTC.. SL.

25-Apr-10
Yeah! At last! It was our 3rd attempt and we are really happy to get rid of this. How to open was an exciting question. While SHE just gave (wasted) comments HE tried hard to get into it. BTW, we have learnt that we should trust the coords and it is really helpful to read all the comments. Thanks for this excellent cache.

12-Apr-10
We really enjoyed this one, it was something a little bit different. A nice find with the kids, TFTC.

12-Apr-10
Checked on this cache today.
All is good.

10-Apr-10
First found this one with Mrs Tramper Ted in Jan 2009. We struggled and struggled but couldn't get it open. This time we had Mr E with us, it took a bit of thinking and fiddling, then success! It did need a man to help in the end. Red Face Very glad to tick this one off - an excellent cache with a difference, thanks!

05-Apr-10
Great cache and name.... thought it was great.
Took a bit to find.... and a bit to open it. Last
person had put the top back on backwards, so
it was a little tricky to open. fixed up the O ring
and back together the right way this time.
SL. TNLN. TFTC.

21-Mar-10
Found on the way to ChCh. 13th for the day and determined to sign the logbook. found with direction from gracie7. TFTC

20-Mar-10
This is definitely the cleverest one to date.Wev'e had two visits here, and this time brought Little Horrible.Well another pair of eyes is always a help.So we hunted for quite sometime, and have to say it almost got the better of us.But Womble T didn't want to leave,so he had one last hunt for it,and Yippy he had found it,although we had all looked in that spot !!.He had a small problem getting it open as it was a bit tight. But our names are now in the log book.TFTC It's been fun.

20-Mar-10
Well what a hunt.Just about ready to give up and decided to extend our search and there it was. A very clever hide.Took awhile to figure out how to open it. TFTC.

07-Mar-10
Great cache and note book nice and dry. Thanks.

06-Mar-10

The Princess found this one straight away... but it took the 3 boys to work out how to open it...
Used the last space on the paper so wer added another...

3 Boys and a princess.

06-Mar-10
2/13 On a trip home from ChCh. Fast find for this awesome cache, one of the more unique that I have seen and a challenge to open but dad was determined to work out howBig Grin Quickly signed and moving on to the next one. TFTC and we will be telling people this cache it a must see Big Grin

28-Feb-10
2nd time lucky. TFTC

20-Feb-10
Went for this cache ahead of closer ones today 'cos it looked like a bit of fun. Took a little hunting but knew when we had found it. Opening it was not a problem. TFTC

07-Feb-10
A clever hide and tricky cache.

06-Feb-10
Unfortunately, we couldn't find it, however we did see a large eel that looked as if it had been washed down the wheel!

30-Jan-10
Came across some fellow cachers, had a good chat and had a combined effort to open it. Great cache.

30-Jan-10
Got it on our second visit. Met fellow cachers there and between all of us managed to get the log. A good challenge. Thanks

13-Jan-10
Took longer to work out how to open than to find. This hide and opening is really worth the effort, to say you have done it!!!!!!!!

06-Jan-10
Great ideal.Took a bit off locking.think out side off the box. TFTC

21-Dec-09
Was it towed up the Wiamak by a jetboat? TFTC

18-Nov-09
One of those "easy the second time around" caches. Container easy to open by following the arrows on it. Decided to discard the soggy paper mache that was past saving. New log in good condition. TFTC.

15-Nov-09
Wow, nice hide guys. Sunny calm morning - very pleasant

13-Nov-09
Oh rats. Did not have cache name with us. Will be back to get the sucker.

09-Nov-09
TFTC TNLN Took a while to get into the container a very cleaver cache.

08-Nov-09
Great wee hide on a great day - TFTC

06-Nov-09
Took us a little while to locate the cache and a bit more time to open it. Sure was a tricky cache. TFTC

10-Oct-09
Awesome concept - but container will drive you mad trying to open - and soaked wet inside including log. Suggest replacing with something completely watertight and it will make a brilliant cache.

10-Oct-09
Took a while to find this one and it took just as long to get the cache open.TFTC TNLN

27-Sep-09
Had just been listening to "Yellow Submarine" in Solid Golds "Top 100 Beatles songs" earlier in the day, so nice to get this. yes, it is a bit moist inside, I've wrapped extra protection around the substitute log, which is getting full. I suspect the seal may be slightly leaking. TFTC

16-Aug-09
What a great hide and a different cache. Took some time to open and we felt quite exposed, but worked it out in the end. The log was ruined and a substitue was almost as bad, with too much you-know-what. A fun find. Thank you.

01-Aug-09
Took longer to get it open than it took to find it. Very clever. Log wet but only to be expected. TFTC

27-Jul-09
Really neat little cache. Nice change from the norm Smile

26-Jul-09
Found cache easily enough after a day of skiing at Mt Cheeseman, but couldn't find a way into the submarine in the five minutes I allotted to the task. Will be back here some day. TFT challenge.

11-Jul-09
#766 (3/11 in inland Canterbury on a sunny Winter's day). A great hide. Cache container took a bit of getting into, but we managedto find a peaceful way in. The newish bit of paper used for recent logs was dry. TFTC.

11-Jul-09
Lucky StreetWalkerNZ was with me as I can't even open a marmite jar without help. He both found the cache and opened it as well.
Very novel. TFTC.

14-Jun-09
Second visit, this time not so dark! Should've trusted the GPS more, we spent ages looking in the wrong place. Glad to have muggle-ish mark with me. He figured out how to open the damn thing!!

14-Jun-09
Original contents soaked and yucky. Someone has added a small piece of paper in a new water-proof bag but this will not last long (getting full already). This cache really needs some TLC!!

06-Jun-09
Easy find, much harder to open the cache though.TNLN

21-Apr-09
Searched and searched with 4 pairs of eyes but no sign.

10-Apr-09
finally we found it was not what we thought

05-Apr-09
As we have seen the cache was a little wet, but the log was dry.

Had a little trouble finding the cache, but got there in the end, opening the container wasn't a problem.

28-Mar-09
This one's got me stumped1

[This entry was edited by HotPJ on Wednesday, April 08, 2009 at 5:30:24 PM.]

22-Mar-09
GPS was all over the place.... a muggle turned up so we left him to it....

18-Mar-09
Just when you are feeling confident that you have this caching thing sorted up comes a hide that stumps you. Didn't bring a print-out of others comments which 'may' have helped, so maybe next time we are passing we will have to have another go? Could be some time tho, as we are only down on holiday. Still a lovely spot to stop at, thanks for showing us the area.

06-Mar-09
Took some hunting but then was obvious. Great hide and didn't have to get too wet to get it. TFTC. TNLN.

01-Mar-09
Found after a long search, have to trust the GPS more in future. Opening the container was another team effort - diagnosed the possibilities but bit tricky after the mileage its done. Have tried to improve seal by using engine oil! Also added another log sheet& plastic bag. Great hide, nearly had us beat except for persistent other half. (#348) TFTC

08-Feb-09
Revisited with a friend. Knowing how to open it helps - I was able to do one part, she another. However, it was incredibly difficult to close again. Suspect this is why it was flooded out.

Replaced entire contents. Cache is dry ... for now.

Don't think much of the container.

08-Feb-09
Finally !!! joint effort.

but contents were just Icky ! Sorry, log book was totally soaked so we added a few pages to form a temporary log book, new plastic bag, put in silica to try to help and left a little aquatic themed button.

Hope we got it sealed properly. I have the old log book drying out in my HW cupboard at home and will post to owner if it dries out adequately, but it really smells !

Thanks for the cache, its a great concept. Don't know how I did not see it the first 2 times I was here.

07-Feb-09
This is our favourite cache so far!! Took a wee while to find it but much longer to actually get the thing open. We did manage it though...without tools but with a little persistence. Unfortunately cache has a "hull breach" and contents thoroughly saturated. TFTC.

01-Feb-09
Container would not open. Googling proved the (obvious) way being attempted was the correct way to open the item, but the second step part just wouldn't move. Please ensure item is functioning correctly.

29-Jan-09
Found but container wouldn't open.

15-Jan-09
Whole of cache interior soaked tried to dry in the sun but new log or container needed

31-Dec-08
Log very wet. Tried to dry it in the sun. Great hide.

31-Dec-08
Thanks a really neat hide great cache spot

30-Dec-08
Like all that have gone before we too took time to work out how the ****** thing opened but open it did, and sign the oh sooo wet log we did..

Thx MD for an entertaining cache.

27-Dec-08
Classic.

No probs opening container and signing the wet logbook.

TFTC

26-Dec-08
A hot day caching in motorcycling gear.
Book is a little damp but container seemed dry enough.
This is a great cache.
TFTC.

26-Dec-08
Fast find slow opening.
Great spot for cache.
Sadly the logbook is wet.
Thanks Moneydork.
Cheers TT

25-Dec-08
Found this cache though we didn't sign the logbook because of how wet and smelly it was. Awesome cache idea and I clicked on to it really quickly! I love the way it was done.

30-Nov-08
Had a look for this on way over to Christchurch for swimming but we didn't have long and it was neally dark, But we didn't give in, had a look on the way home and found easily. Dad found out how to open it while I signed the log book. The log book is a little bit damp. Thanks for this new style of cache. TFTC TNLN

14-Nov-08
Took a few minutes to find and was a quick open. Thanks for the interesting cache.

30-Oct-08
Found easily but opening was another matter. Finally got it. Nice to see something other than Traffic officers hide along this stretch of road.

TFTC TNLN

27-Oct-08
We found it all right, and knew how to open it, but it wouldn't budge for us (it's a bit silty), so we haven't completed the log book Sad

15-Aug-08
This one was bugging me as I'd tried twice unsuccessfully and so calling on the superior searching powers of a recent convert to the geocaching scene, made a special trip out to find it relatively quickly and with a little logical deduction were able to open and register our find. Enjoyable. Thank you. Hatas
