After my dissapointment at missing this one last time while being so close, it was never going to slip from my hands again!
Though we mucked around a bit getting to GZ as I led the team a little too far down the hill before a brief trapse back up again followed by hmmm I think it was further round here oh hang on it must have been further around there after all and getting no help whatsoever from the GPS, we found what we were looking for and I wasted no time making my way up the chimney or rocky gap as it looks. I took a rope with me to aid my weary follower but left Geodaughter2 at the bottom as she had a slippage on the way in leaving her with some abasions on her forearm and elbow [B)] (nothing serious, she'll live), To spite my best efforts to convince my follower that all was OK and that using the rope will be fine he just could not bring himself to do it and I didn't want to push the issue so I hope that someone more experienced than I can give him the confidence to have a go as it really is a top spot! The lookout from here was terrific and as we've come to expect a finely stocked cache.
I have a left an LG mobile phone and took out the hotwheels car for the geo boy and a moist towelette to assist the geodaughter in licking her wounds, Thanks again Tangles top stuff Thanks for bringing me here.

I enjoyed the walk into this cache and found an interesting way to the base. I found the chimney without delay and now understand why it is recommended that 2 people go, though I think one should be a monkey! My 6' 1" 110 kg frame simply wasn't gonna cut it, particularly on the wet and slippery rocks believe me I tried! I have the cuts and bruises to prove it. I will be back before long with the calvalry on this one, I think I've got a backup plan worked out to.
Very well done Tangles youve beaten me this time.
Thanks anyway I will return!

A cache name of Vertigo? Owned by Tangles? Having just completed Y, UK and Void we wondered indeed what was lurking in the store for us. The day was quite warm by now and after the morning’s exertions and adventures we’d come here via the drinks and ice cream fridges of a shop enroute. After a hot walk along the track we were at the base of the requisite cliffline – gazing longingly at the tantalising river below. We couldn’t wait to get down there with Henry and have a dip.
First though we had to conquer this cache with the rather daunting name. Daunting because Altaire is not thrilled by climbing and heights. The chimney was soon located – mmmm…… fascinating…… doesn’t look toooo bad really. So up we scrambled and happily the box was soon in hand. What an excellent little eyrie to sit whilst doing the cache tasks – gazing out and down to a very attractive looking river. We felt like proper little rock climbers did we. And that’s as much as we want to feel like rock climbers thank you!
And thank you Tangles for an excellent cache and adventure. We took nothing but left a candle.

i'm guess that after doing quite a few of tangles caches, that he must be a rock climber ?? found the area no prob's ,said on Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner/Donder, Blitzen, and Rudolph. ......with a ho ho ho...
put on the red suit ,worked my way up the chimney, found the cache, what no cookies and milk for santa. as usual fantastic cache.

In company with Webguy, we wandered across to this one from another nearby cache...
We got pretty close (horizontally), but images of coming to an untimely and unpleasant end demanded that we start thinking in 3 dimensions! [xx(]
Mrs Wally decided to stand guard as Webguy and I set forth via the 'alternative approach' path.
Now I'm not sure about Webby's reference to his best 'santa' impression... However, the demonic laughter that was heard from above, as he found the cache hiding spot would lead me to believe that he is infact dyslexic!
I have to echo Webguy's comments - This is a seriously awesome cache! The access to the cache requires a level of dexterity and determination. The effort is worth it!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Just watch out for mozzies the size of a small japanese car in the warmer weather!!!
Took - Tubular Bells 2 DVD
Left - Photo Album & Allen Key set.

We had just walked across from Henrys Rd via the ridge tops, which really is a nice walk and arrived in the general area of the cache.
Got within 13 mtrs and decided, hell, I can't fly, lets rethink this.
Changed tactics and was then doing my best santa impression. A typical tangles hide, and thats not a bad thing, I consider this cache in my top 10 caches for location and "difficulty". It's not actually difficult, but, it does provide a challenge more than your average box behind a bush or under a rock. Seriously loved it!
Took a little car, left a bigger car.
Descended, walked back to the top of the ridge then followed the firetrail back to the car.
Can't recommend this cache highly enough, just get out and do it!

Followed the instructions this time around to try and make it easier for myself, followed the track and the GPSr was telling me to go a different way but I thought I'll listen to the instructions and keep following it down. Of course it was the wrong track so I had a hard slog to get to the cache. Nice spot and found the right track going back.

Tried this one on 18th sep 05 with some friends as part of a competition. one team found a laminated card on the ground but no cache to be found. Has this cache been destroyed?
Making use of the mountain bikes again it was a nice trip in and good fun retrieving the cache.
Excellent spot.
Excellent spot.
Good thing both Tim and I are skinny dudes. It's a bit squeezy getting up there. It's a nice spot to sit and take in the view out there. SWAG dog was not impressed at being left at the bottom because she couldn't make the climb.
I think the walk back to the bikes was more hairy than the actual cache. We decided to take a shortcut which resulted in us clinging to the edge of a cliff before clambering to safety.
TNLN. Thanks for another great cache Tangles.

Don't do this one via The Basin!
There: 2 hours.
Back: 14 minutes.
Take the track to the right, not left, RIGHT!!!
That said, nice cache, great spot, good swaps.
Took Diary, left Sticky Catch Game.
Be sure to go for a swim!

Er, yeah. Like Zactyl said. Long hot difficult bush-bash from down river then up and down the hill a few times!
Found it in the end though. Thanks Tangles.
In car, out thermometer.

Wow, what a location. At one point my son said "Dad, where's the road?" The track just just disappeared before us. Definite 4WD country. I wouldn't like to try this one in the wet. Lovely camping spot down at the river. Made the mistake of heading off for the cache without water and almost gave up 20m from GZ. Eventually made it though. We'll definitely come back. Swapped a little toy for the NT Emergency Services badge. Cheers, Mzuzu.
HI Tangles,
This was much easier this time! took the right route, water and a hat, didnt fry my brain, went around the 8 legged fiend lying in wait and found an excellent cashe! great views and a fun climb.
Didnt have any swaps so took the lot! (not really TNLNSL)
Great fun, Tangles!

Hi Tangles,
Arrived at Vertigo by the wrong route, the gps and a track took us up to the top of vertigo, after frying my brain on MTB, and climbing UP to vertigo, i didnt feel like heading back down and back up again in the heat so we gave it miss. on the way out we found we were on the track IN so we can do this the easy way next time!
Great views from here.
Be back soon!!

Hi, We eventually found it the hard way. Had a good look up river while we were there. Left the swap stuff in the car along with the water which was badly needed. Still wondering where this track is supposed to be.
This was our FIRST cache and we found it 09/01/05 at 1635hrs.
Signed the log The Silver Fox & son.

It's new years day and after the prior evening I was not feeling very clever. There is no better activity to clear the mind than a quick cache, especially when the mosquitoes drain the excess bad blood from your veins. Getting to the cache was quite a nice walk, but when guessing the approximate location from where we stood it enhanced a headache. As some sort of wanna be Santa up I went. By the time I was at the top I was thin enough to slide through any crevice as it was hot and humid day. TNLNSL.
When all is said and done, this is a great cache.

Found by Pi and XU9J4 at 3:45pm.
Another Tangles adventure.
This is the second time in only a few months that I have been down this particular access track, last time was after the old guy who has been out marking the tracks around here told me he had marked this track all the way back to the basin. That walk resulted in discovering the loss of the "Sink" cache, which was a sad day. I think it is worth noting that the old guy who has been doing the stone track marking throughout this reserve is 73, considering the terrain I think he does very well for his age.
This time the reason to come this way again was in search of what turned out to be another great Tangles adventure. We arrived at the base easy enough then we realised this was going to be fun. There was not going to be room for both of us to climb to the cache so XU9J4 decided to be Santa and headed up the chimney with me acting as an elf on the ledge below. XU9J4 did the cache thing and we both admired the views while being eaten alive by the mozzies (note: anyone thinking of doing this cache pack some insect repellent) then it was time to risk life and limb crossing the abyss and returning to terra firma. It was hot and humid today but we didn't have time to head down for a swim which was a bummer. Didn't have any swaps with me either as they were already packed ready for the trip to Hong Kong tomorrow, so TNLNSL.
Both XU9J4 and myself really enjoyed this cache it was worth the effort.
Thanks Tangles,
Mike and Martin.
(Pi and XU9J4).
P.S. Didn't see any snakes today but on a couple of occassions over the last 3-4 months I have seen snakes further down river so keep your eyes open they seem to be about in numbers this year.

I went for a stroll to start the New Year, added some rock climbing to spice things up and the cache was soon in my grasp.
I passed some characters that looked suspiciously like Geocachers as I began my descent to the base of the cliffs. (I suppose that I looked just as suspicious to them).
When I looked at the log, I saw that GammaPiSigma and XU9J4 had logged this cache today, so my suspicions were probably correct.
(If I had known that you were Cachers I would have stopped for a chat).
Took aqua bag, left thermometer and pliers.
Another fine cache by Tangles!
Thanks.

It's Christmas Eve, so there is no better time to make like Santa. This is one of the few things I've climbed where it's actually easier (and safer) to get down.
There were plenty of blood sucking wild beasts to do battle with. After admiring the peace of this place for a while it was off to Minto Mall to do battle with the wild christmas shopping beasts.
This one is well worth the trip just to take in the bush surrounds. I walked in the long way via the Basin.
TNLN thanks Tangles

I now understand the meaning of the word "vertigo".
No problems finding the cache location, it's just that the approach seemed somewhat daunting at the time.
After discovering that I had a right foot it was time to do the Santa thing.
Took some time to admire the view and to be chewed up by the mozzies.
Left an Aquapac and took that fine looking hydration pack.
Thankyou very much Tangles.
Merry Christmas to all.
Squarewheels.
