Visited the area today for a Kayak Club & Forrest & Bird "cito" type event. Managed about 5 bags of rubbish and a large commercial oven in the section that TregearP and three others were covering.
This was one of three caches we found in the area. Cache was well secured in location but some water in the bottom and the official log is still sodden. The temporary log added by the last finder is still dry in a separate bag. Emptied, dried out, signed the supplementary log and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache usakiwi.

Out this way with the local canoe club helping F&B with the annual rubbish collection, great to meet some new canoe / kayakers and an enjoyable morning picking up rubbish and exploring the shoreline. Nice to see the planting in the area coming along, TFTC log had been replaced and remains nice and dry.
Ahahahahahahahahah!
Yeah, there is the quick way to get it, and the easy way.
Having come directly from Glimpse or View, I took the quick way, which involved wading through a river (note: maybe include the "May require wading"-tag).
I managed to sign the noteblock, which previously was probably a notebook before the dampness fused all the sides together. The container was half-full with water (Or should I say half-empty? Oh well...), so I placed it on its side, hoping that this will keep the water out for some time.
Anyway, drying the log would probably a good idea, as would be providing a waypoint for the beginning of the easy way in, which might be quite helpful.
The travelling fox is satisfied =-_-=

It's getting down to the pointy end of the holidays for me, just the one day left of my Christmas leave before a return back to the normalcy(!) on Monday of my working week(s). I was originally aiming to head out to Hori Bay today with mrs capperz and nightowl19 but a cautious read of the logs for the first 2 caches up that road left me wary and probably will need another pair of cachers eyes, at the very least, so will flag that plan for a couple of weeks.
So it was decided that a raid on the new caches on Cable Bay road as well as a couple of previous DNFs/DNfind the trail-head would be the order of the day. We set off later in the morning and picked off the park n grabs as they were placed ahead of us.
This was the did not find the trail head, Iwalked the DOC track towards G Zlast time but gave up after looking across the 'stream'. Same again today but having left the family in the car I ditched my shoes and socks and waded across. Surprisingly deep in one place, mid-thigh deep, but saved the phone and headed up back onto terra firma. After circling G Z with the arrow counting down slowly but surely I found a container which was a pest trap with peanut butter, and ants! Headed to likely hint item and found cache out in the open. Log book is now too wet to sign and will need replacing, I had nothing suitable on me, sorry.
Replaced container back under the hint item and headed back across the delta/stream.
T F T C usakiwi, nicee place this.

Out and about to keep those numbers ticking over. Found one, DNFd one, so keen to get a find here to keep in the black.
The resident sheep and cows seemed less than impressed to have their grazing disturbed as I made my way to the GZ.
Once close, I opted for the more difficult route, only seeing a far easier way in on my way out!
As previously noted, the log is on the wet side of damp but still writeable for now, so the next finder might want to bring some spare paper as I had none with me. Sorry.
Thanks

We have driven past her a few times and I always say to GK - there is one down there somewhere - and we keep on driving - well not today. It has not been found for a while and I think it was washed our from underneath in a flood that has been through there. Unfortunately the log was not in it's plastic bag so it was completely sodden - still able to leave our mark in it though. I think I will bring the grandkids here for a look around one day as it is the sort of place they would like tftc
Quick find. allot of water in cache container. but amazingly the log was dry! TFTC
Wow, this one hadn't been found for a while. Maybe the gates and stock put people off. Only some inquisitive Heifers and a keen family of white baiters today, TFTC.
After a nice spot of lunch at the Cable Bay Cafe we set off down Maori Pa Road to tick a few more boxes. This was a nice drive in and saw a nice fishing spot too. Cache located by Big Al. TFTC
#8519. I imagine the cache was easier to get to when first placed. I could see the likely hiding place, but looked around a bit to try to find the easiest route to it (still managed to get a nettle sting through my long trouser). Once at GZ is still took a bit of searching to locate the cache. We enjoyed exploring this out of the way reserve, and had lunch when we got back to the car. TFTC.
An interesting though bumpy ride through a couple of farm paddocks to get close to the cache. Fortunately, no close encounters of the electric fence kind, but the vegetation near GZ had their own special bite. I took to them with my walking pole to make a sting-free path to GZ where StreetWalker made the find. First to sign the replacement log!
Afterwards, we walked on a bit until we got to the seat and the stream crossing, that's when we turned back to the car. Always good to find an older cache. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

The last time I was in this vicinity I was a bit pushed for time - - and the ground was a bit wet, so I decided to leave this cache for another day. That day turned out to be today. Quite a cool drive. Gosh such a lot of plantings eh! The cache had unfortunately been on its side so its contents were extremely wet. Fortunately I had a replacement log so I did a bit of maintenance. The cache is now poked into a soft bit of the stump where hopefully it will stay dry. Wow. This cache is coming up for its 10th anniversary. Thanks for the hide .
nice spot, well done, didn't know this reserve existed, said hi to the cows
This has been on my "To do" list for an age. Finally worked out how to get to GZ, but unfortunately our vehicle isn't a 4x4 so had to walk further than I was expecting. Due to a technical error I arrived at the starting point without the cache detail. Fortunately I remembered one detail in the description that was enough to get me to a likely spot and there it was.

Parked up and headed off to the cache on my geobike, dodging nosey cows en route. Easy find at GZ. TFTC!!
Bit wet, but didn't stump us! did a better job of hiding the cache. Beautiful spot very private.
Yay great fun for the kids. We went whitebait ing first (8 haha) this is our first try of geo cashe as not very IT savvy but did it!
What an awesome little reserve that I never knew existed. The tuis were even out in force today. Will upload a photo later. Took the Earth Day TB. TFTC
Last time I wandered down here I wasn't geocaching, this time it seemed to take much less time. Cache was sitting in the open so tucked back under the hint item but still not really hidden. TFTC.
Had a small run with Holymu in the area and haven't visited here since the new plantings. Nice and peaceful and worthy a visit anytime. TFTC
Easy find to log my 50th cache. Seemed like the perfect spot to leave Earth Day coin
Last time I was here there were no caches about - it was over 30 years ago for a big Scout Adventure Camp. So good to return and see the great work being done by the Forest and Bird Society with lots of replanting. A great place. TNLN. TFTC.
Nice spot, looks like cache survived the flood, just Emptyed water out dryed inide and signed log which is ok suprisingly Thanx4TC
What a great little short-cut through to Maori Pa, making a nice little jog from Cable Bay - love it, thank you.
Twice I've stopped on my way to/from Cable bay and looked accross the srteam at this one and twice I've said "I must go around", last night wile going out to get the End Of The Line For Princess Moonlight I drove past and vowed to get it on my return. For reasons geocaching related I was already pretty wet - Ref: GC2MBXG and although it was after dark and the river was flooded it seemed like a good opportunity to ford the river. A challenging cache considering the circumstances - Funnily enough I then drove around to Maori Pa.
I came from the wrong direction. The river is pretty wide. Went back to geo-mobile and got more practical footwear and walked across. Water up to thighs but not really too bad - but sure was icy cold. Cache soon found. SL TFTC
Began on the wrong side of the stream, could see where we wanted to be but it looked a little too deep to cross. Finally drove right up to the kissing gate but didn’t leave enough time for a walk. Pity! Easy find..more should visit it’s a great place when you get there!!!
A great little spot and followed a netter heading off to try and score some other sort of elusive product! Hope they had as much success as we did with looking for our quarry TFTC Hope others take the time to look at a tree nearby and the way they are interwoven
Even managed to get a glimpse of the golden quarry in the river as we wandered along with a local fisherperson ( cant see what the fuss is about lol personally !!!) would rather chase caches ( at least I dont have to eat them !!!) that said we did indee find our cache - signed log thanks for the cache and bringing us here
Came in on the wrong side at first.
Nice and easy once we corrected the approach.

Another place of interest. Took us a bit of head scratching to find the entrance.

The Marchwoods got to try out their new car while searching for this one as we drove up and down looking for the entrance. Cache was found and signed. TFTC
Our last and favourite cache of the day. Went wrong way to start with and then doubled back on ourselves. Then shoes off and some wet feet but found OK in the end. A lovely spot and track down to cache. TFTC
Came in by the wrong entry - a creek crossing and head high grass (with 3 hay fever sufferers) made it more of a challenge than it likely needed. However, came up with the goods. TFTC. NAVFAM
this is our kinda cache, some where we did not know existed. the paddock was rather sloppy after all the rain though. good fun. thanks
Drove across the paddocks, opened and shut gates along the way- got right out to gz to find Muggles weeding around cache hide! Quick find and log, then outa there! Good one.
Meant to do this with the other Cable Bay Walkway caches but ran out of time. Returned this morning for a nice walk across the fields. No problems here, all in good order. TFTC, Biggles.
Nice short stroll on a walkway I have never been on before then a wee paddle which was bliss for my feet after the Cable Climb. TFTC (345)
Gee the grass was high, glad there were a couple of pre made tracks... Great spot, especially the bay further down the public road. Thanks for bringing me here! TNLNSL TFTC

Nice to knock another of your caches offEnded up on the wrong side of the creek so took my shoes off and crossed the creek with a kid on my back and found cache in bare feet,Thankfully co ords were spot on and had cache in hand in quick time.Wondered about the cache name but when we went down the other road later and saw the other entrance we got it.Nice spot for a cache and thanks for taking us out there.TNLNSL Hopefully get to knock a couple more of your caches off on monday
Mrs Fuddley failed to read the hole entry. Nice and easy once we got on the right track.
Doesn't it help to read the logs first. I didn't attempt to get to the cache from main road. Would never of known this spot existed without the cache. All good. Cheers.
Mr, Mrs and Oldest Miss Explorer did this one on the way back from Schroder's Mistake. We made a mistake too and parked just off the main road thinking it was the closet spot to the cache. We got within 40 metres but found the way was blocked by the creek and high tide. After re-reading the cache description we found the right way to access the area and had the cache in hand quickly. A good one for our 300th cache find. Thanks USAKiwi.
We approached this cache from the other side and needed to cross the stream to find the cache, a lovely peaceful spot. In with a dice and out with a shoe keychain. TFTC
(201) Taking note of others comments, we did get the right side of the river, although the drive to the parking area was a bit dodgy in our 2WD thanks to all the rain of late - an easy find for Mr & Jnr beltfamily.

Although we had a little rain yesterday, we were still able to drive fairly close in our car. Haven't been down this road before. Be careful which road you choose to go down to get to this cache. Easy find if you start down the right road. Found with BuzzTasman.

I forgot description of cache, so I went thru the river. I had nice swimming [:o)]. thx
Nice spot for a cache. Worth a walk around, we enjoyed the company of three fern birds the first I have seen here. Well worth the visit, thankyou.
This was a good one. We first went one way, then the other, then back again before we finally clicked how to get to it. Bear in mind there was torrential rain, and strong winds. Were soaked by this stage so we used the clue. Nice spot.
Nice spot. Got on the right side of the river eventually (even after reading the logs and thinking I wouldn't make their mistakes!). Lovely spot. Some very interesting birdlife around here including Kotuku (White Heron) and the even rarer Spoonbill Heron... and of course lots of nice chubby Kereru (native pigeon). I never knew there was public access here. Now I know where to come for some bird watching/photography. Thanks!

Easy find, but a little wet under foot, lts of work going on in a field close by looks like horse jumps, lots of people round.
One of our easiest finds on our trip around this area. No sheep droppings at all - just cow patties! Quite young stock here. Lovely to be able to drive so close to the cache at the end of a long few days of caching. Easy offroad access, co-ords spot on.

We did drive the wrong way - but read the logs before getting out, so backtracked and went the right way.
So close, and yet so far...
We saw a log that mentioned 'no dogs' -we didn't see any notices, but seeing as it is a sensitive area, we kept him on a lead anyway. Another fascinating area, thanks.
BTW - the box was pretty full of water, which we drained.
The plastic bag is pretty virginal, so has saved the notebook.

Brilliant early spring afternoon. We watched 2 fat wood pigeons cavorting in the trees amongst a group of playful tuis. Lots of new calves and lambs about.

Started off on the wrong side of the river - as we see has happened to most people! There was a eerie atmosphere as the mist scurried along the ground we were driving over. Just got to the cache before darkness fell.

Guessed the wrong road, didn't I?? Found a Reserve walkway entrance, and squished down through mud and cascading water - to find a flooded river occupying the full 40m between me and the cache!! So having come all this way, I persevered, and drove around to the correct entrance, and sploshed across very wet paddocks to locate the cache. No swaps, cheers, Grandalf.
Nice easy find on a overcast day - quick run in and out as I was on my way to get Cable Climb and couldn't resist picking this one up too. Found easily enough, GPS took me straight there! -0, +green star stone
Approached this one from the wrong side and was pleased to see most other people had too. Interesting sort of a reserve.

The first cache of a long and sunny day around Nelson. Usakiwi thanks for this a neat spot, we too apprached it from the wrong side of the river. The head cacher loved it (many rabbit smells). We brough two muggle friends who have been converted to cachers!

We started at the wrong side of the river, tricked by the fence note, but it was nice up there. The walk on right side was nice as well. Very pretty spot, lots of birds!
First cache of the day and a tricky start. I soon found out there are two ways to get close to the cache, but only one puts you on the right side of the river! Soon corrected, and found the cache reasonably quickly. I think I startled something nearby the cache, I'm not altogether sure what it was! No exchange made. Cheers Gav [319/FTF]
