Labour Day caching adventure at Hoffmans Dam. A nicely camouflaged cache. Lots of cycling muggles around on a sunny morning after spring snow only two days earlier. Thanks for the cache.
TFTC! Naseby is as much a destination in the winter as the summer. The nearby Coalpit dam was almost entirely frozen over!
This was a super awesome cache! I love finding the big ones as they have heaps of swaps in them. Thanks for the cache and the walk around the lake TFTC
A southern adventure for a wee family Easter school holiday trip. After a few days in Dunedin we were now heading up to Naseby for a couple days...and hopefully some fine weather!
Finally arrived at our Miners Cottage in the campground...still drizzling but with a roaring fire all good! Decided, despite the rain, to head out on our bikes as we'd bought them all this way and not ridden them yet because of all the rain! Headed out the waterrace track for some fresh air...thanks...Getting a bit dim; but in the fading light Mr15 made the find in a spot I had checked but not well enough! Nice to sign this one off. Thanks.

Out for a bike round Naseby on the last day of our holiday. Found with Conbat. TFTC
Good to avenge a dnf from years ago. A nice easy find this time as was exposed. Added a bit more camo.
Kia pai to koutou Wiki o Te Reo Māori. Kua mate te rōhi, he poto te rākau. Ki te taha o tētahi pari ki runga i te roto te mea. He kōrero anō, engari, ehara i te pai te whakawhitinga ki te reo pākehā!
A nice quick find. Last time we were here the was logging going on so we could not get up here. Today, no worries. A nice walk to GZ and the cache was easy to spot. Fav Point for the location. Thanks for placing your cache.
Time for another road trip for Ms_KR and KR, so we headed south toward Otago. We cruised through from Oamaru to Ranfurly today, but had to take a detour as the road from Dunback to Kyeburn was closed. There were more caches on the detour, so no problem! Another glorious day.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Bit of a downhill clamber for this one and a wrong one..nope the burrows look well used here! Back up again and a quick look around and found it yay! Cache all good and dry tftc
what a lovely spot. good to have a decent size cache when you walk this far. left my duck friend tb here as saw two other ducks on the pond. tftc
Nice area, Ken was born in Naseby & spent his childhood days around this area, great to relive old haunts - TFTC
Nice little lake, although the surrounding area must have been more welcoming before the trees were chopped down. Now it looked like post apocalypse... An easy walk on the path to close to gz, then some interesting search - and yes, it's there! For now anyway, it looks like the bank could collapse at any moment. TFTC!!
Spending the weekend in Naseby and getting a few caches after having a few busy weeks at work. Needing a break!! We used to come up here a lot when the kids were little. One of my favourite places in the world. So peaceful and quiet. The trails up here are very familiar as we used to bike a lot with the kids around here. TFTC.
Decided that today's target would be to get as many caches as possible in the Naseby area. Some of the plan got side tracked by more interesting caches and some caches were unavailable due to all the holidaymakers in town.
Carried along the path from the last cache to the lake. Went for a bit of a wander and at first the gps gave us one sight which turned up nothing so we checked for another likely spot and found the cache. tftc

Heading home after a weekend in omakau catching up with a mate...making time for a few detours on way. Nice quick find tftc
Found while out riding with my geo-niece. Found in second rabbit hole we tried. Tftc
Wow quite the find. Once again Jdscout spotted it. We found an easier way to retrieve it. It's been there quite a while ! and I are on a pre Xmas campervan holiday. Geocaching is on my agenda. We both like biking and walking too. Thanks iclaymore! for placing this geocache it is find 8062 for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Found the cache quickly at the given coordinates. I did not catch what daywalk's comment "54 m from where it should be." means. Pic with Garmin GPS reading attached. TFTC
Have retrieved the wandering cache and returned it to the correct location. All good to go again! Spotted the cache exactly where our friend had said it was - stuck between the trunks of a 2- trucked pine, below the bike track, 54 m from where it should have been. All dry inside plus a few extra names in the logbook. Refreshed the swaps and put it back. But, we have made sure it is now totally concealed from view, so you'll have to investigate all the possible rabbit holes carefully! From the cache site we saw paradise ducks with their ducklings on the lake - cute!
We'll be at Naseby at Labour day weekend. A friend has told me where he saw this, so I'll search for it when we're there. I'll bring a 2 litre replacement, just in case the original can't be found.
Found it. Not in the location it should be. Apx 100m along lake bank sitting in the mud.... have placed it back by a rose Bush by the lakeside just down from mtb track.
Thank you andrebek! This cache should be inside a large unused rabbit hole, easily reached from the lakeside bank.
Little bit concerned by how enthusiastically the children were investigating rabbits burrows on the edge of the bank. Also we found a second rose so it took quite a few rabbit holes to find the right one.
Thanks quickly found this morning while out on a bike ride

First find of the day on a walk in Naseby Forest in perfect weather. The views over the Lake here were just spectacular. Found the cache after a few minutes searching, I actually spotted it from below and then realised that there was much easier access from track level. Great to find an old cache in such good condition, and good also to find a nice big container. Signed log, TFTC and it gets a favourite point
Certainly a great place to hide a geocache, signed my name to prove I found it . Happy geocaching to those who find it after me.
Took us a little while of going on wrong tracks and looking but finally found it.
Awesome cache.
Awesome cache.
Found this with jimbobjam on a trip in Nasby had a great time on our way to get Ice Cream!
1 January 2018 14:02. This is the cache I was after, a venerable cache indeed! Quick and easy to spot, but harder to get to. Glad I was here in good weather! I enjoyed reading the previous entries in the notebook before I returned it to the hiding place. Tftc.
As I lay my phone down to retrieve cache it was pointing 3 m towards the water. Would be a nice day for a swim too
A very pleasant walk which would be even better on a fine day. Despite the drizzle the lake looked very peaceful, would be worth returning on a fine day.
+ a marble, - nothing.

Mr was keen to take the short cut and I was keen to stick to the track... guess who won lol, well pay back was he had to piggy back across water race. stunning location in this light
A really lovely hot sunny sunday morning after the 12hr race yesterday, so headed out with D.K.D to go for a walk, wear the dogs out for their car ride home and of course grab some caches. Glad I had them with me here to help sniff this one out.
Cache bit damp but all good.

Here as support crew for Naseby Water Race. Taking some time out to give the dogs a run. Nice wee track
Fun time trying to find this one - enjoyed getting lost in the tracks on our bikes! Great forest area!! . TFTC
On a bike ride with a friend along the water race track. We sopped and walked around the lake, picking this cache up along the way. It's nice to see older caches still in existance.
An easy find today. What a lovely spot for biking! We were in foot but in enjoyed it just as much. Dropped off a TB. TFTC
Went for a walk around here on our day off from cycling through Central Otago - nice dam, but too cold for swimming today! TFTC
What an amazing ride. Took us places we would never have seen. Lost our bikes for awhile. 2 hours later...success. The best one yet. AWESOME!!!!!!!
Searched and searched but alas could not be found. Found a perfect burrow but thinking maybe the rabbits may have found use for the cache.
This was a lovely short walk even in the rain. A great crop of poisonous but fairy tale looking red and white toadstools along the water race. Thanks iclaymore.
It was a bit drizzly which didn't help my GPS receiver accuracy. Thankfully the Winglen GPS was performing better than mine so the find was soon made. A nice area, thanks iclaymore.
You forgot the mention the matagouri for extra ouch (Heafudd M had to put his shirt back on!) TFTC
A quick find on another superb Otago geoday. Appreciate the extra effort with the container. Definitely a favourite, +1 from me. This is what geocaching is all about.
Thanks for placing this cache!

Thanks for leading me here! We stayed at Naseby for proximity to the rail trail, not realising what great biking there us close by.
TFTC, Thanks Carrie, kept us busy for a bit =)
Lovely walk, and spotted it from the track, hid it a little better on the way out.

A continuation of the forest walk bought us to the extra large rabbit hole and the cache hidden there. A very pretty area and well worth the visit.
After initally walking on the wrong side of the lake, we did an about turn and all ended well. We made the Geo-Nana put her arm down the hole, she was more than happy to oblige!! TFTC
Which hole indeed. No need to go down the bank. Suddrnly the rose, small pine and rabbit hole become clear. Took geocoin as it has been here for a while.
this would of made a fav if we could of found it but we rapidly ran out of daylight
TFTC! This had us going the long way round but soon spotted the cache at GZ. Beautiful spot. Quiet and deserted today!
Hmmm, we covered a fair bit of the walk around this lake! Gorgeous spot! Easy to forget that the distance is as the crow flies! Love the hide!
Great spot! Nice view of the lake, and a well hidden large cache. We walked all the way around the lake. I like the "list of things to do in Naseby" inside the log book. We took your suggestion, and followed the water race! TFTC.
I think I may have had a bit of a look for this on my last visit. No trouble this time.
Cheers and thanks,
