The first cache of the day after a wonderful night camping under the stars nearby. An enjoyable drive up here and a quick find after a short bush bash. TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan
I never actually had a feeling of happiness seeing a Blue face reappear on my map. So today I decided to turn it into a smiley face. That was the easy part. I thought to myself lets approach this one from a different direction this time coming in on Tattersalls Road, unfortunately I took a wrong somewhere and end up on an extreme 4WD track that I believe the locals call the K9 track and there was no turning back once I as on it. It was steep and not suitable for my new 2023 Pardo. The last 100m was the worst. I knew I had to gun it up over a rock ledge without ripping off my back diff, I held the line and made with my rear passenger wheel spinning in mid air. I was extremely lucky as I was on my own. Once on Kerrisons Road I rang a mate to let him know I'd be over to use his car hoist to inspect the damage done. Damage list: One tyre with a chunk taken out of the side wall, Bash plate destroyed, scratches galore on the paint work. I was very very fortunate. Found the cache with Molly the Geodog and the Cache is in excellent condition. Molly refused to get back in the car, and when I picked her up and put her in she refused to look at me till we got to my mates place.
Today a muggle mate, Snips, joined me for one of my Sunday drives . I told Snips I have no idea where we are going or where we will end up, but Im sure it will be a fun day. I had a bit of a plan, but they have a tendency to go out the window when caching, so we will go with the flow and see where we go. 1st stop - I had looked for this cache last year with no luck and this morning I noticed it had been replaced, yesterday! EXCELLENT I was a bit excited about this as this cache will be having its 20th birthday at the end of the year and an oldie is always a good find for the stats Thank you Tas_Community for maintaining this oldie for future finders.TFTC Kerrison ClanKeep smiling
Thanks to one of our northern Tas_Community teams, this cache has been replaced.
##Cache Maintenance Required please.##This geocache has been brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit, to address the issue described in the logs. The cache owner needs to either fix the problem or archive the listing, after picking up any geo-litter. In the meantime, I've temporarily disabled the cache page.See the maintenance section of the [Geocache Hiding Guidelines](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines?expand=1#cachemaintenance). If there is a good reason for a delay in enabling this cache, please post an update note log here on the cache page so that everyone will know what's going on. When the maintenance is completed, you can re-enable the listing by entering an "Enable Listing" log, and then post an "Owner Maintenance" log to clear the "Needs Maintenance" attribute, if set.I will check back in 30 days to be sure that the maintenance has been done, or that further information has been provided. If there has been no action to repair the cache, or explain the situation, unfortunately I will need to Archive this cache. Caches archived because of lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. The Geocaching Community needs to have a degree of certainty that a cache is out there to be found, and the CO has a responsibility to maintain their caches.Thank youBalayangCommunity Reviewer -Australia
Can Co confirm it’s still in play. I’d like to come back and turn it into a smiley. Super pretty spot
Last stop for the afternoon. After reaching the coordinates we found what appeared to be a fallen tree that may once have contained the cache. After searching for around half an hour the Autumn sun began to set and it was our call to return home. May come and look again but I have a feeling this cache is no longer here
It’s been over 4 years since this cache has had a visitor and I was really hopeful that I would find it. It was a bit of fun getting to GZ but I enjoyed the scenery and all the shades of green. Surely it wouldn’t be that hard finding a shoebox sized cache…. But alas, it seems Mother Nature may have hidden it just that little bit better. Maybe another day….

Exploring way up the hill it’s a pity you can’t keep driving as the boom gate is in the way but a great spot.
Today I organised to go caching with JLROCKSTAR up to Liffey falls but slide to the thickness of smoke over the hills from the fires, we thought we would head north to Beaconsfield instead. A nice area and some good caches were found. All caches were signed as JLG98
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 5000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.

A great day out caching with gridge98, sorry I forgot to log these caches so logging them a month later.
We travelled up the west tamar up till greens beach and then came inland through the bush to some interesting places that we had never been to before.
Thanks to all the CO for their placements and apologies for the late logs.

Great drive into cache, even though the cloud was low and a drizzling rain had set it. Quick find. TFTC
After taking a few different tracks. We got to explore the bush a fair bit. Finally we found the right road. Got with in 80m of GZ then off we go tracking through the bush. Didn't take long to have the treasure in our hands.
Thanks for the adventure was a great afternoons travel.

Travelling around Australia and now in Tasmania!
Well what an interesting day we had out in the GeoCruiser.
Not sure that we approached any of the caches from the 'direct' route and some of those gravel roads we ended up travelling on 3 times. [:o)]
Wow we had read the previous logs saying approach from the North but we didnt realise that would mean a 50km trip around to get to the North[B)] Finally negotiated our way in from Browns Creek Road to make the find here. Access was okay but some of those pot holes are getting pretty big, slowly does it and anyone should be able to get here.

Bit of bush bashing required getting to this cache from the track. Nice area to have a play in the 4x4 and explore.

Nice to get off the bitumen every now and then.. Nice bit of country.. thanks ..!!
Wow. what a bash thru the bush this was. Gr8 spot for the 4wd lovers tho. Spent the day caching in the area and 4wd'n. No views here anymore but plenty from the nearby GA cache locations. Cache and contents in great condition.
How Quickly Things Change
I had come up from Hobart to be part of a flash mob.
Before leaving the mob Mrs D said we would go to see some antiques in Launceston.
But as we left the car park she decided to keep heading north.
Then it was off to Port Sorell.
As we were driving along Bowens Rd she spotted a sign in a tree "Fire Tower" lets have a look.
I was a bit sceptical as they usually have a gate on them and require an up hill walk, I know she had the wrong shoes.
We drove for a while and came to a fork in the road so got the GPS out to have a look.
Once the satellites had told us where we were I said to my caring wife "There's a cache up here and it hasn't been found for 3 years can I have a go at it?
After a bush bash and wondering if there was an easier way to it I found a clearing and the cache was easily found still in good condition, the log book was a little damp as it wasn't in it's bag.
Unfortunately the trees have grown so there was no view for me.

love a good excuse to bash the bus (4wd) around a bit, specially in parts of our local countryside we are yet to discover (were Burnie-mites) so i can predict we will b visiting here in the hopfuly near future. YAY!
We found this cache whilst in the area today bashing the hell out of our Landy along with Tas_Terriers in thier Lux. The cache was a nice interlude from the driving. Thanks Kerrison Clan for a top cache.
Nice spot - but not much in the way of views anymore - just an occasional glimpse through the trees. Had an enjoyable bash through the bush to get to the cache - which was actually found by a recent muggle we have introduced to the sport. His first find. TFTC
Had a couple of 4wd cachemobiles that needed a short outing so decided to make a late afternoon dash up the bush. Kerrisons Road in from the north is in good condition - the family 4wd or a 2wd hire car could make it easily. We came out via Tattersalls Road to make it a round trip. Definitely need a 4wd or a dirt bike for that though. To get to GZ from the road, we scrambled through the scrub for 80m, expecting to find an obvious track when we got there and kick ourselves. Not so - there doesn't seem to be an obvious way in - scrub bashing is the only solution. Vegetation has grown up so there isn't any view from GZ but there are some good ones nearby. A newer GCA cache nearby has the benefit of recent forestry activity to give a clear view over the Tamar mouth. TNL 1959 halfpenny. TFTC.
nice short walk into the bush on our 4x4 adventure with landy clan, great hide thanks kerrison
Headed out with whitewebbs on a beautiful clear winters day found this cache after a scramble up hill lots of trees, a true bush experience TFTC
Went bush for this one while on a day's caching with Tassie Trekkers. TNLN. TFTC
Rode the mtb up from Asbestos Road on a hot day. An easy find after a short scramble up the hill from the road. TNLN. TFTC!
A bit of a bush bash but walking along the tree highways made life easier. Took a thimble and left a soldier. TFTC
For some time we have been considering attempting the three caches along Kerrisons Road. Well, today was the day. We approached this cache from the north and were able to drive within about 100m in our 2WD car. We made a quick find once near GZ. Unfortunately the view was restricted by the trees - this is NOT a plea for clear felling - we enjoyed the immediate scenery before moving on. TFTC
Came up from Brown Creeks Road and was surprised with the number of roads in the area. Found the cache and was pleased we had the Gps tracking to take us back down the right track. TFTC
We knew this was here and planned to visit on the way back from "Bobby Dazzler", but enroute discovered that the coordinates were neither in the GPSr or on the printout of the cache summary that we had. I gave my Dad a 'quick' call and talked him through how to access the website to get the coordinates for us. Now armed with the coordinates we parked nearby and trekked up the hill. As usual on the return journey we found the easier path. These trees must come down with a huge thud!

Some how the highly "organised" cacher had missed putting the co-ordinates for this one in the GPSr so after phoning a family member and getting them to get the co-ordinates for us, we were on our way towards the cache. Getting to GZ is some true bush bashing but the cache was a nice easy find in a very awesome spot. I dare say there has been some growth here since the cache was first placed therefore it was a bit hard to see the amazing views. None the less, another great cache in a beautiful part of Tasmania!
Visited this one before but decided to give it a miss as it was dark and we had no torch. Found quickly today. Unfortunately no view as lots of low lying clouds. That is the biggest problem with attacking 'view' caches in the winter. But on the other hand it is certainly easier to climb hills and mountains in the cooler weather!
Great cache on our doorstep. Beautiful trees . Walked to fire tower first. Views were hazy, but still worth the extra metres. Cache was wet inside, so dried it out as best as possible and left another biro, the one there failed to work. TFTC Enjoyed time away from housey things.
Found this one in the dark and fog/clouds/smoke...........geeeeeeeeesh
After having all but no gps coverage i had to ph a freind and he sent me in the right direction along a huge fallen tree
After about 30 minutes searching with a torch the goodies were found......i wasn't leaving till i had this one
After signing the log i headed back to the 4x4 lucky i left the park lights on....arrived back at the car with only a sprained ankle after slipping off a log......lol....but i will live to find another
gr8 place with a gr8 veiw
thnx

A few motorbikes so a careful drive in. Short scrub bash to gz and cache quickly found. Limited views due to smoke haze. TNLN Thanks
A detour from the 'main' road brought me to a spot with a lovely view
This spot was only about 60 metres from where the cache was hidden
But what a 60 metres it is.
Most of that distance I covered walking up the fallen tree that ends in the previously mentioned cubby house.
But it's a long jump down to the ground if you're too big to fit throught the door
Cache was found with a bit of water inside, but logbook still dry. I rehid the cache on a slope so water won't pool on the lid
TFTC.

Finally got around to finding this one,
Nothing like taking our time,
Took the rough way in and out Via Tattersalls rd to test out the new 4x4 cache mobile and wasn't disappointed,
And what could be better than to find a Great cache with an excellent view,
Cache was wet inside but the log book was dry inside the ziploc bag Dried cache as best we could and replaced as found,
TNLN Thanks for an excellent cache Kerrison Clan

Found in the early morning, so early in fact that I couldnt see the view as the sun hadnt come up.
Well stocked cache.
Many thanks.

We found the cache while trying to look at the Tasmanian landscape through the surprisingly big eucalypts on a clear winters day. Ferrisons Road was in much better condition than we expected and there is an easy place to park in the saddle of hill near the cache. The little trek through the sparse scrub disappointed the middle CEyrettes who are still impressed by yesterday's adventure to Lookout Kimberly(GCPQWE) though playing in the cubby houses made with hollowed out Eucalypt trunks probably compensated for their loss.
The GPSr (Grubby Place SpottR) uncannily zeroed in on the cache once again when we reached the peak of the range. CEyrettes made swaps while repairs were made to the lid of the cache and the log was signed by all. We farewelled Arrow the travel bug and off we journeyed to the near by Dazzler cache.
We had to be careful of motorbikes though, they seemed to be everywhere.
Thanks Kerrison Clan for the cache.

We decided to make a detour to look for this cache on the way back from Yorke to Launceston which turned out to be a great idea as the views on the way were fantastic. We found a safe parking spot near gz and by the time we walked back to take a picture of the scenery offered here, the cloud and rain had moved in and stolen our opportunity. We donned the coats and headed up the hill in the drizzle. The GPSr led us directly to the cache for a nice easy find in the first place we looked. Unfortunately the cloud cover had become thicker now and there was no view from this fantastic vantagepoint. We signed the logbook and headed back down to the car, totally saturated from the knees down but happy we had made the detour. It would have been a waste of time going to the fire tower today as there was no way we could see the view, so we took your advice and enjoyed the 4wd trip down the hill
Thanks Kerrioon Clan for a great cache

Loved this one, - the road in, the walk up to fire tower, the views. First one for the day on a tammar caching trip.
Excellent! thanks.
Excellent! thanks.
Setting the geofourby to warp speed , I made my way to Tamars N/W Summit after work, to watch the sun go down and celebrate my 150th cache find! And what a great way to celebrate. It was a bit cool and breezy, but the views were as spectacular as always, and the setting sun bathed the summit in its orange glow. Found the cache easily, signed and then sat for a while . . . . . . . . . TNLNSL thanks muchly
Had to climb 30m tree to get to cache - lucky it was horizontal as it was dark. Gorgeous sunset. Thanks for an interesting break in the journey to launceston. Cache in good nick and easy find by half moon light, good coords. Took suggested route. Kerrison's road is now marked "no Through' off the good dirt road from Yorktown to narwantapu NP. Just as I was bemoaning lack of understorey and wildlife frightened a tawny frogmouth on the way down who posed in a tree while I tried the camera - no luck..
For the non-locals, the 2 roads I tried to use to get to GZ were impassable.
Hind Road has a bridge washed out and there is no way a 4WD would even get through that. S41 13.812 E146 45.531
Kerrisons Road from the south has a locked gate on it at apporximately S41 14.435 E146 43.509
It seems the best way into GZ is via S41 11.165 E146 41.340 or ask a local....
I'm not logging a DNF because I didn't even get to GZ.

Good walk through the scrub to the cache. Good place to park off to side of road. Good one.
Stunning views - well worth the visit!
Can't believe how far you can see from here - or that you convinced the authorities to name the road for you.
Thanks!

Nice bush drive to GZ. Couldn’t see any fire towers but enjoyed a wonderful view. Easy find in a great spot amongst It looks like the devils have left it alone in its hiding spot. There are some big fallen trees up there.
Went and checked out cache last weekend.
Replaced it in its original position. Boy the wild winds last year blow alot of trees over.
I went up to the cache via Tattersals Road on my dirt bike and can say those with 4x4's can go this way without to many problems. p.s. its fun to be back on a bike again.

Found today on the way out Tamar way doing a bit of caching. Travelled this road a few times before but had never ventured up here.
Cache Didn't seem to be in the standard hidey hole, but withsome teeth marks from a local devil it may have been misplaced by our 4 legged friends.

Might pay to have a quick check on this one if your going past just to replace it back to where it started before the devil playtime.
Found it today on the way home from our few days of R&R at Greens Beach. Awesome views, almost impossible to describe!
No dirt bikes in attendance today though.
Thanks MK for a great cache.

Had a great drive up to this, replaced our teeth at the top (Dual Cab ute's don't like corregations, lol)
Wow, what a view, i didn't realise Port Sorell & the Tamar were so close together, well, they look close from up here anyway, lol.
The recent storms have ripped through here pretty well, & there's a great big tree hanging precariously nearby, resting on another, just waiting to fall, we were lucky it was a still day today, I wouldn't like to be standing near the area on a windy day. So, just a warning to future finders, be wary of it.

WOW What a view, which ever way you looked !!!
Glad the view was so great though because I didnt go much on the drive there, took a wrong turn along the way which didnt help much but well worth the search.
Yes you were right about the trail riders, came across 4 having a ball !!!! They were black from head to toe, the only clean part of them was there white teeth as they were grinning from ear to ear.......
Was a very clear day so GPS lead us straight to cache...

We go past this area a lot albeit by another road.
This day it was extremely windy and hazy which spoilt the view a bit. But it is worth the trip to see it. The road then the track would pose no problem for most vehicles except for possible dust intrusion.
Cache not hard to find and we enjoyed the walk.
Thanks Kerrison Clan.

This cache reminded me very much of the drive upto Lone Wolf and Cub.
Cache was difficult to find due to lack of a decent satellite lock, best I could do was about 28 metres accuracy, which gave me a huge area to search and lots of hiding places! Nice hide KC, very well camouflaged, I would never have found it if I hadn't been able to channel CraigRat and use his keen caching skills
Watch for snakes on warm days - it's a snake paradise!

A nice New Years pressie arrived on the gc.com website. A new cache!
M.K had told me about the views from this area before, so I was keen to get up there and check it out.
I followed the good road in (and saw the shameless self-promotion of the cache owner ).. the road gets a little dodgy near GZ but there is a good spot to park and turn around a bit past GZ.
This is my kind of cache! There's really nice views of the Tamar and also of Port Sorell and the NW!!!
Cache was found after a short search in the wrong area... There are so many places you could hide a cache here!
Took PlayDoh left Torch & a gc.com.au sticker
Thanks heaps for this great cache Kerrisons!!
