Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we decided wed drive in the Lake Ohau area & check out some of the local, to here, caches we visited the Round Bush DoC Campsite & went for a wander it was a pleasant surprise to find the Mistletoe growing on the Beech Trees & hear the Bellbirds walked along the foreshore & over the fence got to GZ & was pleased that I had gloves with me the cache turned out to be, more-or-less, a quick and easy find, logbook signed & cache was returned as found pleased to have found another one of these old caches were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN except photos:LN:LS this was #6,557 for us!
Had to wade thru the freezing water for a bit to reach GZ as lake level was high. Soon found what I needed.Log book wet. Tftc
Surprisingly quick find after a few nights at ohau lodge. The bright container helped. TFTC, all in good condition.
A pleasant walk along the shoreline from where we parked the car, then a protracted search to look for this old cache. We did a lot more bush bashing than was necessary! Our GPSrs pointed to a location behind a thicket of rose canes. Eventually StreetWalkerNZ found the cache about 6m towards the camping ground from this rose bush, and we never did find the other one.Really pleased to make the find here. Now to beat a hasty retreat back to the car away from the sandflies. TFTC.
#23604. This was the longest search of the day (but given how we'd driven down the lake, we were determined to find it). I did a lot more bush bashing than needed. Eventually I spotted a clearing a bit back towards the car park, and once there soon spotted the cache. TFTC.
Nice camping spot. Took the dog with me, he loved having a swim. Found quite quickly but didn't notice the rose bushes. Enjoying our drive around the lake.
What a neat spot with quite a few campers in residence. I followed the instructions as best as I could and went in and out of the bush in several places ending up on one side or the other of the same place. I decided the best way was to identify two rose bushes only to discover there are quite a few. I wasn't having any luck and as I was standing there trying to work out where to look next I noticed some rocks that looked a little too neatly stacked and needed investigating - and there was the cache! Very pleased to find it and its always special to find an older one. TFTC sp00k and Ciotach # 20,875
Camping the night here & after dinner we had a stroll along the shoreline in search of this cache. We noticed that it hadnt been found for some time & doubted that wed have any luck. Pushed our way into the bush in a likely looking spot, moved a couple of suspect rocks & there sat the cache. Pretty straightforward find. Thanks for placing a cache here & giving us a short evenings entertainment.
Found - ground a soggy - will find another route back. Notebook a little damp
Went the hard way around on the first go, then was rewarded when I found the east route. Keep it simple!
Fun spot, camped the night here, definitely didn’t wander way deep in the bush and get lost
We were heading to Mt Cook for a wee break and of course were caching throughout the area.
We had an awesome time with some brilliant weather apart from only one day where it didn't play ball. Great to see so many awesome caches throughout the area.
Visiting Lake Ohau for the day.
Nice walk along the lake front, so peaceful.

Staying at the campground. The lake is high so had to get my feet wet. Took the long way round to get it. Stopped to sit down while talking on the phone and it was right in front of me,

We still don’t know which one was the round bush, but after a short trek and a brief hunt, the cache was located and signed. Lovely spot, I may be back to camp some time. Thanks for placing this. Found with Flumsy2.
Definitely classic geocache found with Spoonz2 on the way to our days walk to Hopkins view. Tftc
Stayed at the camp last night. Friday this morning but will go and get the one up the road the do the Parsons track

A bit of a walk with two of my tour group. An absolutely stunning day at Lake Ohau today. A bit of a hunt around but geo- logic to the fore and the cache was found. t4tc
Went to the end of the maintained road and collected this on the way back. TFTC
Stayed over night in the lodge and before breakfast and riding some of the alps to ocean bike ride, decided to come further along the road.
What a great camping spot.
Took awhile to spot the sneaky hide but it was simple to find in the end.

An extended weekend with the whanau exploring the Mackenzie and Central Otago. Lovely spot for a picnic, and great to find such an old cache!! TFTC!!
We were a bit confused about climbing over a fence to look for the cache but M went to find it while I made lunch. I set up our table and chairs and made sandwiches and we sat in blissful surroundings to eat. Another great camping ground which a few people were taking advantage off.

Our home for the night. Our week away is coming to an end and this is our last night out camping. And what a nice place for it! Barely anyone here if compared to the sites on West Coast and around Wanaka. But the atmosphere is magic, views beautiful and lake nice and calming. If only it weren't for the sandflies...
Went out and got the cache in the dark some time after our late dinner.

A stunning spot. Been to Lake Ohau many times and never stopped down here. TFTC! !! Left trackable to enjoy the view and await new adventures.
A bit wet today, so onto plan C biking and driving A nice quick find after a wee lake shore wander. Cheers.
KiwiLegend was looking for a partner in crime to find a few caches around Omarama, so I volunteered to join in on the adventure. Had a great weekend, some biking, some canoeing, some FTF, some lonely and a very lonely cache. Thanks KL
Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

Tftc larger container is broken. And everything wet. Taking away the rubbish. There is a smaller green container now.
After a cold night at the DOC site, we set out to find this ancient treasure. The little one was of great help and finally discovered it! Beautiful spot, even when the skies are cloudy. TFTC
We spent a wonderful evening with a delicious dinner at the Ohau Lodge but beforehand we had a long stroll along Lake Ohau and sent three travel bugs on their next step staying at this beautiful place til they travel further. Good jouney!
After being defeated last time I returned again with a bit more time.
Took the required walk on a slightly windy afternoon but the place was deserted.
Quickly made the find after I ignored hint 2 and placed a small container with only the logbook in it inside the original container and the bag.
Thanks

We read the request for a new container – as we drove up the side of the Lake. All our caching containers are home in Nelson – we only bought a few spare logs with us on out trip. However, we did grab a plastic bag from the car in case. It is not going to add much to the weather tightness but may help for a while. So yes, we did find it and we did take the easy route. We also stopped for ‘a few more of our snacks here as it was lunch time. Only logging this now do we realise how old this cache is. It was set before we started caching in February 2005.Not surprising the container has suffered.
Thanks.
Thanks.
didnt have to beat any bush or climb, rather had a quick find : ) stayed here 2 times during the month! such a lovely spot and very near to the awesome ohau ski fields and the lodge! tftc cvit
It's a lazy day for me today and after sleeping in, I step in the car to go to Lake Ohau. After crossing the nearby ford twice to find a cache, I decided to park my car at this camp site and have a little stroll. The cache was actually found easily. Well, what remains of it, to be honest; the stash is broken, the lid exists of three parts... but the contents were dry.
Maybe the next cacher can take a small Sistema with them, or the CO can bring a visit, now the contents are still dry. Thanks for hiding!

Camped overnight & went for a walk along the shores of Lake Ohau. A lovely calm day with no wind. Quickly found & filled the log book. TFTC
Found with MrandMrsChosen1978 on our Waitangi Weekend road trip. Thanks for the hide. A quick search and the container soon located.
Found by mrandmrschosen1978, with Granville86a, while on a road trip over Waitangi Weekend. We started off traveling through Central Otago and on up to the McKenzie Basin exploring Lake Ohau to Mt Cook one day, then we spent another day by heading down the Waitati Valley before heading back down south. As we explored these areas we found this cache along the way. Thank you for the placement
A little tricky to find. Interesting patch of mint on the trail to cash. Grabbed some for our spuds later. TFTC.
After a tramp in the area we stopped here for a shower and view in the motorhome. Took geocoin. Tftc
Fefe.adrien and I went to the lake Ohau for visiting. Despite some showers we enjoyed the view on the lake and mountains around.
So quiet in winter...
Easy found for all boxes.
We signed on the logbook with our team name : Lekiprokos
Tftc
Need to walk much further than the hint but found in few minutes. Nice campsite.

The weather is not perfect, but Ninalila and I choose to visit this side of the lake and enjoy some caches.

Quick find on morning stroll from nearby campsite where we parked up for the night. TFTC
A lovely spot, nicely hidden from any curious campers. A hot day also meant a quick dip in the lake. Found with debsnz
After a weekend tramping over Gunsight Pass in the Temple, we decided a refreshing dip in the lake was needed. Of course we had to grab this cache, we were only 80m away after all. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Tftc. We took the easy way and headed off in our boat for this one as we were camping not far away. Definitely easy if approached from the shoreline by boat or walking from the DOC camp nearby! No prickles to report either. I was just saying to crayzee1 that 'this one might be a bit of a challenge' when he replied rather smugly 'if you were any closer you'd be standing on it' and sure enough it was true! The cache is safe & warm, the log is still a tiny bit damp but able to be written on, no worries. Tftc! Oh and caught two trout for our effort as a bonus!
Came down the hill to get the cache. Ended up staying the night. Nice sheltered spot
What a great spot! Fantastic views across the lake. We parked in the campground & enjoyed a short walk along the shore to the cache. TFTC.
As I was up this way doing planned caches I thought I might as well pick up the rest as well.
What a great spot this is. Must remember it for another time.
Cheers for the cache.

Tricky find. But best one yet I think. It's very wet inside the container. Tried to clean up as much as possible.
Found it during my trip from south of South Island to north of South Island.
Thanks for this cache!:)

Limited time and the sight of blood flowing from scratches meant this would have to be left this time in this great area.

nice place. we stayed at the campground nearby. did an evening walk and found a TB in there
TFTC. Fisher muggles were fortunately far enough away from GZ to enable a discreet search. Dropped TB.
Picked up a muggle friend who was returning to the Lodge after a walk; she came for the ride (and walk).
Made a bit of a meal of this but all's well that ends well - cache eventually in hand. TFTC>

First one here in 2013! Took a bad line at first and ended up with muddy feet in a swamp but met a curious bird in the bush in the process. Found GC which was a wee bit damp, but in okay condition nonetheless. TFTC.
A short stroll (160 meters) from where we camped for a few days. I'm glad the sandflys weren't as active at our campsite as they were at the cache.
Dried the inside of the container. Can't find any reason for the water inside, suspect someone has not replaced the lid properly at some time.
After NZ Mega event, accompanied with Sp00k & Ciotach on carvanning and travelling south/west tour. It was nice to find a cache that Sp00k and Ciotach have planted it. Thanks for the cache and a lovely view of the mountains across the water.
Found the easy way. Lake is super clear at the moment. Only issue I had was being eaten alive while signing the log. TFTC
