I reached this area after finding some of the Hutt Valley caches and went initially to the bus barn but wasn’t greatly impressed with the terrain so I tried the recommended track. Parking seemed to be at a premium and so I parked on the flat and was already puffing when I reached the track proper.

Luckily I got my second wind on the zig zag section and made it to the GZ in around 25 minutes. I had stopped to admire the view and noted a big rain bearing squall slicing across the harbour. I found the cache easily but hastened to log the find and skuttle back before the rain. I had just started the car when the rain arrived.

The views were impressive and I would like to explore the further reaches of the track in better weather.

Just checking to make sure all is well. Cache still in good condition. Took TB Smile as it had been there awhile and was probably board.

Nice walk, first time I've been up via Kowhai St. Cache in very good condition. Took about 20 mins to find - many places to hide a cache in the bush and my GPS pointed 7.9 metres away from the location of the cache. GPS reception is patchy but is okay in the vicinty of the cache.

We have come of age with our first FTF Yipee. Enjoyed the views and the hill was good for the heart!! Had to look a little to find it, had overlooked it earlier. Took TB Funky Chicken and Highlighter pen. Left TB Smile and pinball game.

Have placed Funcky Chicken in this cache, so for the time been has become a New Zealand native bush hen.
