Logs
On a road trip together with -moge-; across New Zealand; from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island; up, down, right, left ... So much to see, so much to experience. So many great, and sometimes old, caches! But I can hardly keep up with the logging. Far too exhausted from all the experiences. I am sorry that it will now be a standardized log for some founds.
Caught Nobby selling "authentic Watch badges" again. They looked suspiciously like old bottle caps glued to bits of string. When questioned, he claimed it was part of a new "community outreach program." Confiscated six bottle caps and a used bit of string, so the day's not a total loss.Carrot reported that someone stole a gargoyle. After extensive questioning, it turned out the gargoyle just went out for lunch. Said he'd be back by evening shift. Tried not to ask too many follow-up questions.Detritus attempted to arrest a raincloud, convinced it was following him. After explaining "weather" to him, he still insisted it was personal and grumbled about "cloud discrimination."Two thieves outside the Shades tried to rob Lady Sybil. One ended up with a handbag to the head; the other ended up running away and screaming, "I just wanted a few pence!" Couldnt stop laughing long enough to take a proper statement.Reminder: Consider issuing Detritus an umbrella.
CaptainVimes and I have crossed the pond to attend the Geo Toroa mega in Dunedin and tour around the South Island for two weeks.I was scrambling around up the bank when CaptainVimes called found it further down. Thanks Mcroni and happy caching
Round a bit by good luck entering the bush in the right spot a breeze today but a nice place to stop.
We are on a trip in New Zealand. A wonderful country with a lot of (old )caches. There are too many caches so we limit ourselves to the (old) gems or where we happen to make a stop. We found and signed this cache in good condition. Mcroni, thank you for this cache, regards xizat-NL. Take care, this hobby can develop to an addiction.
Found within our famous trip around New Zealand. Thanks for nice cache ....................................................................... TB Koumesovo geopivo DDEV7M
We bypassed this cache last year as we missed the tiny road to access gz. Kept a look out today & managed to find our way down. A short & pleasant stroll along the shore & we soon had this cache in hand. Great place for a cache. Thanks for placing.
Mr went for this while Mrs stayed with the car. Much further than he thought. Good coords and with luck found it. TFTC
Beautiful spot. Great cache - love the ones that bring you to a hidden spot. Drive down using the tiny road. Cars can turn around fine. Knee high on the bank
2 for 2 today as I'm hitchhiking up north. I was picked up by a Taiwanese girl and we made a quick stop here. I'd say this one is more like a D2/T2 but the views are great!
Nice walk along the lake shore. I missed the turnoff that would have passed close to the cache. Cache was dry but the next cacher may wish to replace the bag. Thanks
Day 6 on our holiday in New Zealand. Today our tour is going from Queenstown to Fox Glacier. We also visited this traditional cache, found it, and signed the logbook.

The complete month march I am travelling on both Islands. Christchurch heading south, next the westcoast.
AbelTasman-Wellington-Rotorua-Hahei and finally Auckland.
This was one of the caches I found; thanks for showing me the area.

Auf kleinem Stopp recht schnell entdeckt. Vielen Dank für diesen Oldie und ganz herzliche Grüße vom Rumtreiber aus Braunschweig, Deutschland.
Stopped in to pick this up while travelling through to the top of the North Island. Had christmas at Hawea camping ground and now begin our journey north. Looks like a great day for a roadie to Reefton

All good here. Dry log. On a days outing to the Blue Pools from our holiday spot in Wanaka. Tftc
Eventually found it. Gps is a bit off under trees. We ended up needing to go to the next broadleaf tree along from the willow. Tftc
Travelling today from Haast to Balclutha, mainly finding PWGT caches along the way. We noticed this trad along the lake shore and managed to pull into the hidden 'layby'. A nice little walk along the shore, then into the bushes to find the cache. Found a few spots that sort of matched the hints, and eventually spotted the container. TFTC
I went in expecting an easy find. Not so. A few scratches a lot later I finally had it in hand. Cache good condition. TFTC
What a cool spot and a piece of geocaching history! I managed to leave the care in a relatively ok spot and went for a little adventure from there. I did spend quite a bit of time searching as the GPS was all over and the area has probably changed since placement. i was very excited when I finally located it! TFTC!!
Nice find but the pen needs replacing
Did the best I could by scratching g it in the log

Our first cache of day which ironically kept us free of a strong norwester. We thought we might have a dnf here but we doggedly stuck to the hint and the coords kept us within 4 meters of find. Mr Pazza saved the day.
This took us ages to find. We were about to give up when Mr Pazza called out those 3 words you always want to hear while geocaching. ‘I’ve found it’
I write "WRITE NOTE" because it is a time when we can't go on a long adventure, so I travel in the memories of my visits to New Zeusemad. Of this adventure in New Zealand, I only stretch Travel Bug. Writing "FOUND IT" is probably not right anymore, it wasn't today, but I was here before. And unfortunately I won't get here again.
I am sending a beautiful greeting from the Czech Republic.

We parked the caravan up for a couple of days at Pleasant Point and use the car to explore the area we came through often enough but never stopped. This was our turn around point. We stopped at the DOC reserve to get our bearings and then promptly overshot the track. After turning around we drove down and found a nice shady spot to park up at. Things have certainly changed since this cache was set. Vegetation has changed and the D/T rating is well closer to 2/2. The attributes too are not all correct anymore either. Having said that we enjoyed the search. Thank you Mcroni
We are staying at Pleasant Flat campsite for a couple of nights and venturing out from there to find a few caches.
To start with we believed the D/T rating, big mistake! In the end I went back to where the GPS indicated and found the well hidden cache.
Thank you Mcroni.

(# 6141). Day 10 of my South Island odyssey. Today is getting some caches between Gore and Haast as well as having a good look around. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
GPS was pretty accurate and so was the hint except that we couldn't see a willow tree. M climbed under and found the geocache. What a gorgeous place!
Had to search a bit b‘cause i was offline.
Nice cache. Due due the heavy wind, there were no sandflies. Otherwise they will eat you nice place. Thanks

Using the GPS and the hint we looked extensively. We couldn't find anything. As it was in the lower bank, it was probably washed away by the flood mid December. I will send some pictures to the cache owner once I get proper internet.
Grabbing my 01/2005 jasmer cache! Yeah!
KL6 and I are in NZ for 16 days or so exploring the South Island. We plan to visit the Fjordland and all the up the Punakaki flat rock vía the west coast. Then back down to the lakes, Punaki, Tekapo, and Wanaka. Finally back in Queenstown after our huge campervan adventure.
Thanks to Mcroni for the Cache! Found around 1:21 PM - signed as Wæki3 (shorthand for Wæki3_KL6). This is Find #2169. We’ve also contributed a lot of caches in the Flagstaff Arizona area, and currently to date we’ve hidden 85 caches.

Vacations 2019 - Road trip trough New Zealand
With Geoesposa, this was my 50th anniversary. 16 days, 4200Kms and a few hundreds smilles after, i was sure i saw nothing....
I liked everything, the friendly and civilized people, the way the country works, the roads and especially the natural beauty of New Zealand.
I fell in love....
I decided to go back in 5 years, I easily see myself living my last days somewhere lost in any stunning scenery of this wonderful country.
With the itinerary studied at home, the caches were the ones that were in the chosen places, and a few used to stretch the legs. It was decidedly not the most important on this trip. Of all the visited, only half a dozen did not appear, all being in good health except two or three.
I will use this generic log, not for disrespect of the owners, but due to the amount of caches visited. Here the majority of caches serve to show something beautiful (as it should be), not giving importance to the container.
My thanks to all the ownwers who, allied to the natural beauty of the country, have made this vacation unforgettable.

While visiting Wanaka, we have taken some time out from the usual tourist things to find a few geocaches in the area. We have been having a great time exploring the area and partaking of some of the activities available.
Thank you Mcroni for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

We made a swimming stop at the nearby beach (BRRRR, cold) and I walked from there along the street to ground zero. Even with the hint it took me a while to find this well hidden box. Approaching it from street level did not really help either. TFTC!
Day 9 in Newzealand. Today we drove from Wanaka to Franz Joseph Glacier.
A very beautiful Country with lovely places. We were able to find nice Caches and See Lots of interesting places.

Day 2 of a 4 day road trip. My mission on this trip was to travel South and West and then East and North. This road trip was all about the numbers but not quite in the usual way. In fact it was hours and hours spent on the road in search of minutes (and caches). I'm filling in gaps in my 'minutes' found across New Zealand in order to complete the 400 minutes challenge for the cache GC7YQZ8 - at the start of this trip I had a 52 minute gap to fill. TFTC, Biggles.
Found on the way to Makarora to go tramping. A nice quick find once we had the right spot. Lovely place to stop. TFTC
After a Beautiful walk in the lake we found it
i agree with the last Comment TftC;)

Amazing views from the shore. After a bit forth and back, the leafs showed me the way to the nicely tucked in cache, bit overgrown though.

You can be sure that I was glad that I skipped stopping here last night when it was pitch dark. Now in the morning, after having spent the night in the freedom camping grounds nearby, I did the search in daylight, and gave after wandering around for 10 minutes.

Another short stop on our journey around the world. We walked for a while to the bushes, looking for a moment, but finally found it. Terrain 1 is definitely not. Thanks for the box and send greetings from the Czech Republic.
22128 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we went from Wanaka to Franz Josef Glacier to see many lookout points with great views and to find many caches near the road. Even at bussy spots, muggles had more interest in the view than in me, looking around for the cache. It was again a great cahing/viewing day.

Not long before the final destination of the day - the DOC campsite near The Neck - blumen-wiese and I passed this very nice resting place. We arrived there just around dusk, and we thoroughly enjoyed the extremely beautiful scenery. Finding this cache here was a nice extra.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Austria.

On day ten of our wonderful New Zealand trip Oztriaco and I made our way to Haast, Jackson Bay and to the lake Wanaka. What an amazing view of the Lake here. Thanks for the cache and showing us this beautiful place. Greetings from Austria.
Today we made a trip from Cromwell to Franz Josef via Haast, thereby visiting many new sightseeing locations and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was dry all day long, cold in the morning but it got warmer in the afternoon. Sun was our partial compagnion the whole trip.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to Mcroni for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Nor West Shelter (Otago). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Rustynz, Rebel98 and myself Gorby are Westies from Auckland. We regularly head away on cheap flights to here and there, this time we have flown to Queenstown for a 3 day adventure of fun and caching. Rebel is our nominated driver, I navigate and rusty tells us the hints and description.
When we pulled in here we find a lovely spot to see Lake Wanaka. Then the fun began! Looking for this cache.... which did not want to be found. I assume there has been a heap of growth here since the cache was placed. Even with the good description and hint, it took me and rusty ages to find, rusty was successful in the end and a big whoop-whoop went out. Glad to get back into the car and get warm.

First we went down another driveway (opened the gate), but being 400m away, and no obvious track (maybe we missed it?), we drove to the other driveway. Then it was only a short walk - yeah right. Its funny how you can make things way harder than you needed too?
First tried along the beach, but turned in too soon, for a bit of a bush bash, that seemed to drop off and end in a dead end. So retraced steps back to the driveway, and walked further along the beach, and cut in. Was not too difficult, and I soon was at GZ (although I went up the bank for a bit of search, then dropped down again)
It was then I found the cache in its hidey hole, all safe and sound. Lovely and dry.
For my return, I went up, yep to the crash barrier at the road, much easier, yes a little steep, but avoided all the bush bashing. I assume when this cache was hidden all those years ago a track used to run along the side, but due to landslips and tree growth, the cache is much harder to find.
Loved this little adventure, a cool hide, with amazing views of the Lake. Sorry no TB seen.

I ventured over the main divide via the Haast Pass with my caravan today stopping off for the night at the DOC Boundary Creek campsite halfway down Lake Hawea.
I went past the entrance heading east and had to travel for about another 1.5 km before I was able to turn around.
Out: TB.
Cheers for the cache.

Heute ging es von Queenstown weiter nach Fox Glacier über eine wundervolle Bergstrasse. Wir haben die Dosen am Wegesrand eingesammelt und die tollen Aussichten genossen. Danke fürs Legen.
I'ive started my beautiful trip of the South Island in Christchurch, I've visited many beautiful locations. I've travelled via Lake Tapeko, from Dunedin to the most southern part of Bluff. I've then continued with a cruise in Milford Sound and then back to Queenstown.
From there on I've visited Wanaka and the Haast pass to the Franz Josef glacier. I went all the way up to the Abel Tasman NP. Richmond und Nelson as the sonnierst cities were on my list as well.
I've soon reached the east coast in Picton and Blenheim.
After a couple of days, I've then travelled back to Christchurch via Kaikoura.
I've spent a couple of days in Christchurch and it's surroundings.
I've visited many geological sites and have found many caches along the way.
I've travelled 3500km and have experienced so much.
Thank you to all the owners

DFDC

Hmm not sure about a terrain rating of 1! Lovely spot to admire the scenery. Plenty of treasure still in the cache. Made a small swap. First log for 2018, surprisingly! TFTC
This one has been on my agenda for quite a while. Today was lovely day and I had plenty of time for the search. Once at GZ it didn't take too long.
All of this day we spent on the Haast Highway and on the way we stopped for short hikes, visits to lookouts and of course, for caches.
It is a nice part of highway 6 and gives a good impression of the influence of the glacier rivers and the forests around here.
They are so different from our own country and that is what makes this trip special.
After our installation onto Boundary Creek campsite we walked over for this cache. It took quite a while, but we found it.
