We replaced this cache today. The new cache is loaded with a whole bunch of kid friendly SWAG but alas we forgot a pen! If you're heading out here please can you bring a writing implement to leave in the cache. The cache is within 10m of the posted coordinates and is located down the hill from the path. Please cover with plenty of natural camouflage and replace as found. Cache on!
Cache replaced! Bring your pen and come claim some unloved months on this geocache! The trig point is hard to spot now and the lantana is thick in areas. Come pull out some lantana, do some CITO and claim a find!
New cache has been created, need a couple weeks more to get up there and place and this one will be back in action. Thanks for your patience.
Thanks Odee McPodie for transferring ownership of this retro cache.Back to School was transferred from Odee McPodie to user Roo_and_tribe
Dear Ngaambul / MattIt appears Odie McPodie is no longer maintaining this Geocache. We would love to take over ownership of this cache by placing a replacement and will perform maintenance on the cache as required. We're not sure of the process of doing this. Would you please consider us as being the new CO before archiving? Many thanksRoo_and_tribe
Hi Odee McPodie,The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 4 weeks) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.If you require more time please be sure to **post a note** (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 4 weeks to keep everyone up to date, if you do not then you cache may be archived without further note from a reviewer. Caches archived due to lack of maintenance are no longer unarchived and you will need to submit a replacement as a new cache.Ngaambul - Matt
We would be happy to take over maintenance of this cache and replace with a new cache.
Visited GZ came up empty handed, might need some locals to replace and take over community maintenance to save it from possible archiving.
We had a thorough look for this one recently. Turned plenty of logs over. It's not there.
Looking at the previous logs we knew what we were looking for in terms of what container, and kind of where it would be- visible from the path.
Would be a shane to archive this retro cache but I think that is probably what ends up happening here.

No joy for this he tribe at this retro cache. Had a good look and moved a few old logs. Still no joy. Think it's gone. Will watch and see if anyone comes up with the goods. Maybe the find in January wasn't for this one as no maintenance has been performed?
Would be a pity to archive as it was nice to visit Mt Nebo.

Might need a check??
I parked at the bottom of the hill and was about to take this one on til i noticed the last 2 dnf's,given all the previous finders before them i decided against it.
If its found again I'll commit to it another day.
Cheers

We were at the nearby Cornelius' Course cache and walked down towards this one. Had a good search but were unsuccessful. It was still a pleasant bit of exercise. TFTH
I looked for quite a while and in lots of spots based on the gps, comments and photos from previous finders. Pity, as I doubt I will come back. Might put it on my watch list and see what happens. Awesome views on the way, and of course there is the trig, which is why I was here in the first place.
Another one checked off my list.
Heading down the coast i decided to take the opportunity to grab a couple of caches along the way.
With this cache i ended up parking at the end of Walang Ave and walking up the trail to the coords.
Given the fact that it was a summers day and the route was about 850m uphill the only things that kept me going were the breeze, regular breaks in the shade and the thought that i wouldnt need to go uphill on the return journey.
However the further i went the more spectacular the view was.
At the GZ i ended up spotting the cache from a distance as there was no camo on it. I suppose there aren’t many muggles coming up here just to poke around off the track.
Thanks.

What a view!!! And a nice walk to the cache. Obviously there are some deer up there as I saw lots of tracks. You get a fav from me.
A cycle-caching day-trip to the Illawarra area on a 'warm' day. Spent most of the time looking for taps and bubblers to stay hydrated.

This was the 3rd of 22 finds.
Ended up taking probably the longest, most circuitous way to GZ. And worse, on the way back, spotted a short-cut but couldn't use it as I left my bike down at the head of the longer trails.

Oh, look!! A geo-trail. Why don't we follow that? No, no. We're still 200m out. Up the hill it is. Find cache. Oh look, a geo-trail. Let's follow it out. Hmm...
Go with gut instinct or follow the orange spray paint???? Hmmmmm....

A great energetic walk to find this one. Allow about 30 mins to get in.. standing in a certain spot it was quite visible to placed it a bit further into its hide hole TFTC left badges, took a small kids charm, signed log book on a random page as there seemed to be no date order.. a great cache. Thanks again
Bit of a hike no wonder it hasnt been found since january nobody wanted to climb that hill. Tftc
Found the cache with my dad. The last time I was up here I was in Primary school and we drove up the road in 4WD! Well hidden cache
Was on my way to this one when heavy rain started so I decided to give it away today.
Now that was a slippery trip!
I went by the up and over way.Up the slippery mud and leaves, through the sharp lantana bushes, and over the other side to where the slope is also slippery.
Signed log and back to O'Briens Road for the other caches.

#5 for us, Thanks.
On the way back from "Mine your own business" the kids decided they wanted to explore a side track. It turns out that it was exactly the right track for this cache and we had an easy on-track walk the whole way there. TNLN TFTC.
The trig point has been cleared a small amount and is easily accessible.
Will need to go back one day to see the bunkers that Cache Track mentioned.

We have chosen the more comfortable "around" way to the cache and on the way back the direct way down.
Paulyman and I took the longer route around to this cache, and it was quite a beautiful walk. Watch out for all those nettles though! TFTC.
This was a beautiful spot. Had the garmin navigating us to the spot, as snorris's google maps took us on a non existent shortcut. A really nice walk to GZ with beautiful views, glad we took the round about route rather than over the top! Thanks for the adventure.
First of the day bit of a wild goose chase we made it more complicated than necessary!! Didn't take the most direct route but found in the end ??TFTC
Oh boy we did so many detours to get to GZ and back on the road again, but enjoyed every minute of it. TFTC!
Well... If I had to go to school here I would be inclined to wag... We just walked about 3 km from Mt Kiera road, took the other way.. Good exercise. Now back to the geomobile . TNSL TFTC but I had great company so the distance didn't appear that long, nice scenery along the way.
Managed to tackle a number of great bush caches today and although it turned out to be a bit of a tuff day we were glad to find all the caches we were aiming at today. Thanks Odee McPodie. SLTN..TFTC
Reperio at 1140.
Well the day was too good to be mostly finding drive by caches...so I opted to make use of the sunny weather and head out on foot to grab a couple of caches out this way. Must have missed the track head along the way...and simply ran up the side of the steep embankment to find the track, and then down to GZ. This was a nice quiet little spot with nice scenery.

Have attempted this one quite a few times now without success. Finally bit the bullet and asked for some help. Finding the cache was the easy part. It was finding where to start that had us baffled! LOL. Anyway glad to have finally knocked this one off the list. TNLN SL TFTC
Can't believe I went over the top only to stop a few metres short of the track then back tracked and found another way around the side. Still the same result, a find.

Didn’t spot the track head on our way up the hill to collect SES Navrescue marker flags but co-ords were helpful on the way down. Getting gps to co-operate at GZ however was another matter. Mine was jumping continually around 10-120m while ozvixen’s averaged 7m. Thankfully hers was right before we headed up another steep hill. Returned via the trackhead which thankfully seemed a lot shorter on the way back.
Found this one whilst retrieving a flag for the recent NavShield event hosted by the Wollongong SES. TFTC!!
Lets see, I had 30 caches logged onto the GPSr today, so where is this one? 1,2, 3...oh no, only 29, damn, I left off this one, mmm. OK so I ring Webguy, and he gives me the coords from his computer. Seeing that I was parked near the water tank, it looked like an easy walk...hahaha.. Off along the dirt road, at the trailhead, off onto the deer tracks. Finally I get to GZ, took a while, but I found it, not the most salubrious spot for a cache. Now to return...maybe I can go uphill along the track? It seems to be heading the right way...OK, that dead ends, back to GZ, off downhill, miss the deer track west, and end up cursing the lantana, and all the other more vicious horned plants as I made my way back to the dirt road.
All in all an interesting cache find! Thanks OM....I think..

Nice hike with the three little martians. Tried three different approaches before sucess. Kids enjoyed the exercise and the search. Kids made fair swaps, left a TB, took a TB SL TFTC
After Pole Position I headed along O'Briens Road seeking an easy way up and over the hill. Nothing obvious in the end so a slightly more challenging than expected trip. I got there in the end though, relatively intact. It's been years since I'd been up here, I used to live down the hill in Figtree. After finding and signing the cache, back to the top and further west to finnd a couple more.

Spectacular views on the way to this cache. Fairly easy find in the end, but lots of mozzies and other bugs too. TFTC!
Decided to try and go cross country to this one from the top of O'Briens Road. It probably took far longer to go the 271metres but at least it was adventurous. Finally came out on the path to the trig about 10m above GZ. After a quick search I found the cache. Left Boomerang TB and Took the Jellies Geocoin. Thanks Odee McPodie for your cache.
Wow, this has been my nearest unfound cache for nearly a year now and today Ding and I decided that we should knock if over. So we headed off and had a good start then we lost the track, found the track, lost the track, found the wrong track, lost the wrong track, found another track, lost that track, contoured, bush bashed, found the cache, found the correct track. We definitely took the hard way, but the walk out was nice and pleasant. Found the old trig point too.
Thanks for the hunt.
I took a lonely coin that had been in there for months and left a shark TB.
Cheers.

On my way to check out possibilities to get to two other caches I took a turn right to pick this one up. From this approach it took some bushbashing and crawling on my knees even when it was only 150 m of a very well track!!

Tbone and I bagged the cache on Mt Nebo today. We love the large bush cache. Always an adventure - this time an attack of the thistles on Tbone. Plus just as we started the search at GZ a muggle appeared out of nowhere and started talking to us about the area. I was lost for words at the start. Need to improve my muggle excuse banter. Eventually we used the excuse of visiting the top and we walked very slowly until she headed on her way. Once all was clear, the cache was quickly in hand.
As we can't attend the Odee event tomorrow, we are pleased to have done an Odee cache instead.

Took Geowife to show her this one. I had found it 9 months ago. She liked the Tina travel bug, so we took her to Sydney to try to help her on her way around Australia.

Approached the hill from the south, Up the west road.. geokid and I attacked by some kind of bee..that kept coming back..had a quick look at the bush bash, but lots of spider hole that way.. so turned around when road started to descend..then geokid said he had seen another track on leading east. Much more friendly.. attacked by giant wasp creature. not sure if we were geocaching or playing D&D. Made it to top of the hill, then woops.. realized where cache was.. ... placed the JB Racer..(10.29 am precisely) End of his journey ! Brrrmmmm.,... Checkered flags waving in the mountain breeze. Crowds cheering... a hush falls.. .. they all look around expectantly, waiting for the car owner to approach... to take the trophy...
Quick photo as muggles approached.

Came in from the phone tower, a mix of the UPHILL track (the old road) and cross country while near the top.
Then spent a FRUSTRATING 30 mins in the lantana, either coords are 10m off or the gps signal is hard to locate in the trees up there, but finally I found it. (Obvious spot!).
Then back up the hill to the trig station, took pic. An unexpected surprise in the bush. I then decided to have some adventure and went direct back to the car - loved it. Great views from various loactions up there too, Thanks for a great cache.

Attempted this cache as darkness was falling....
1. Some young lads parked near the trail head warned us about a "vicious rooster" that was up the path! We carried on regardless & saw no sign of any roosters, vicious or otherwise.
2. After getting quite a distance up the path we realised we were on the wrong side of the hill & our torches wouldn't cut it for a cross country scramble.
3. We then tried the alternative trail to the cache, but that was far too muddy to tackly in the dark, so we returned to our caching mobile defeated on this occasion.
Maybe next time...

Like BigMickB, I used to live in the area. I used to use this mountain as training for long distance running. BigMickB and I where also training buddies. We have both moved out of the area, but every now and then come back to visit family and cache. I found this cache rather easily and I can remember a time there was a clear path to the trig station. I didn't go trying to find the trig station today. But enjoyed coming up here for the excellent views. TFTC TNLN

Found it!!!! We have been before, about two weeks ago, but couldn't find it. We got within 100m of GZ through the bush bashing option but picked the wrong track to follow. Our next option would have been to follow the 'around' track which, in the end, is how we found it. We found it because of some marks in the dirt as if someone or something had fallen or skidded down the bank. Great views from 'hint coordinates'. TFTC

Yippee! My second cache found. Thank you so much for the effort of hiding it. The views were fantastic. I really like the outlook up there and I enjoyed the short walk as well. My friend that was with me carved a path straight up and over through the lantana in bare feet! Unbelievable. One of our GPSes was off 200m, (old yellow etrex, don't know what the story is with it), but once at GZ I knew straight away where I had to be to look. Was just starting to feel frustrated when there it was!!!
took a bike ride up o'brians rd and got lost on a track that led back to mt kembla what a killer of a workout, turned around and went back to the top of o'brians to have a better look for a track... found a track which didnt necessarily lead to the summit but close enough...after a super effort through the mud slipping and sliding, and climbing through the scratching lantana may i add with the bike hahaha i came out with the cache...enjoyed the beautiful views from the summit and enjoyed my adventure.

Easy to find once I got there. Used to live close by but never made the climb to the top of Nebo. Much steeper than I imagined up there. I took the bushbash route - with recent rains it was a bit slippry and the lantana has come on strong. Tonight 110% humidity so I was dripping when I got back to the car. TNLN TFTC
