Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Opotiki Park we decided that we should go for a bit of a road trip today wanted to do the Adventure Lab in Matawai (done) and Mrs McMike2012 wanted to look at the Motu Falls, which just so happened to have a cache near the Suspension bridge, which we nabded this cache was easily found, log book not completed as the log book extremely wet, so replaced it without signing we then continued our road trip by back-tracking to Motu then following Motu Road all the way back to the coast at Tirohanga some 70kms of windy, narrow & in places steep, gravel roads pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,785 for us!
Quite a tricky little cache for a 1/1.
Eventually tracked down container and signed log. Lovely views from swing bridge and a nice walk into reserve.

Lovely spot so far off the beaten track. Well worth the time to walk the full trail if you have the time. Thanks to The Shirelings for coming out for a ride into the depths of rural NZ. TFTC
Found this one while on holiday away from our home in Whangamata Thanks for a great cache.
I looked high and low and round I went until finally success! But not before I was muddy up to my ears I'll have to come back for the walk with better shoes. TFTC!!
Always on the lookout for an adventure off the beaten track and this one added a bonus waterfall. Really surprised at the size of the valley after leaving Matawai. Great spot for a cache but unfortunately a wet log. Happy to give info on GZ of required
Took the whakarau road to the gisborne highway. 40km of gravel but a really stunning bit of scenery
Thanks for the adventure

As there were a few options it took a bit of searching to find. Unfortunately the log is soaked so difficult to sign. Track was closed due to a slip. TFTC
Up with family at a farm, so decided to do this track walk today.
Made all the finds pretty easily.

Beautiful spot but quite hard to find it. In the end we looked at the most obvious place really carefully and foud it. Thanks and greetings from the Czech Republic:-)
1.15pm. Loved the swing bridge and view of falls from it. Searched and searched to no avail then just as we were giving up there it was. A cunning little hide. Left a signature path tag.

A plan was hatched for a lonely cache adventure and a cluster of cachers soon signed up. After a 4am start we met up with the others and after a brief planning session and caffine top up, we were on our way. We clocked up a few miles and the 4WDs were a handy TOTT to enable easier access to some of the caches (probably why they are so lonely) and both looked well travelled at the end of the day. Always happy to find one of the older caches and this is a great place for a cache placement, thanks for sharing TFTC.
THis weekend just back from the OZ Mega 2015 I was once out and about caching with friends. This time it was ROSMAR, 11HPG11, & again Alpenmilch80 who was along for the test driving of her new beastie and trying to get a hang of some back country roads.
THis was the last one that we choose to collect here as we needed to keep going to make the most of the daylight. a quick find although one of our number wasn't keen to cross the bridge
So again thank you for the FUN of the hunt

Out and about today with 11hpg11, rosmar and Cats&Dragons to find some lonely geochaches (distance & last found) in the area. I was very keen to join when I caught word of the plans to give my new car an off-roading practice run. The end result was a very dirty car and a happy owner. Found the geocache in its very good hiding place.
Had an awesome time out with the crew. TFTC

Another mission, a new area this time. The plan was to do some off-roading and 4x4 caches, plus a few others in the area. Cats&dragons and I set off on Friday night and had an amazing light show of sheet lightning and heavy rain. Our spirits were not dampened though and we made the long slog to Opotiki. We worked out our plan of attack for the next morning and found a few great looking caches to check out. We were meeting up with Rosmar and Alpenmilch80 in the morning before heading to some wild country.
A nice wee area to explore, will have to do the full track another time. Braved the swingbridge for a moment to check out the falls but I was soon off and back to firmer ground. A nice wee hide too. Thanks for bringing us here.

Tricky hide for sure. Real hands and knees stuff here and a bit of feeling around. Thanks

This is a lovely area, doing a bit of sight seeing with my geomate and a muggle and it's always great to be able to find a cache at the same time. TFTC
IMPRESSIVE falls. GREAT place for a cache - took a bit of finding as it was well tucked away. TFTC
Was in the region and decided to check upon this one.
Waterfall huge with lots of water today.
Cache all good, changed the silica gel bag and dried the log as it was a bit damp.
Cheers

Log dated late 2009, yet I am the first to sign the log?? Maybe replaced logsheet and put wrong date on it. Nice area. SL TFTC
road trip from camp at Tirohanga, two mates and I. the Motu road is a great drive, slowly, you don`t want to rush this one. easy find, then on to Matawai
I really enjoyed the drive in up the Motu road on the way to Gisborne. Nice spot for a break.
I did a slight detour to see these great falls. Not a lot of water going over them but that didn't take away the splenour of them.
Thanks for bringing me here.
Cheers for the cache.

Nice spot. Suspect the cache has been muggled a few times as I know of other members that have visited this site yet I did not see their ID's in the small log. Lovely spot and if one is keen a trip further up the valley is well and truly worth a look.
Well the Micro Motu was certainly Mighty today. Found with no probs - signed temp paper/cache.
Lots of Clematis (Old man's beard) flowering in the trees round about looking lovely but very lethal to our native trees.
Been here many times, running in Motu Challenge, bringing visitors for falls and walk - always a lovely place.

After a bit of a sleep in after getting home in the early hours of the morning we decided to o for a ride though the Motu, we also decided that we would do the cache nearby as well, found this cache quickly, and bumped into some visitors that we saw at Shine Falls in the Hawkes Bay, spent a few minutes catching up before heading off on our way, love this spot, also love the information boards at GZ, excellent spot, thanks for bringing us here, TFTC TNLNSL (1566)
The falls were magnificent after lots of rain. Unfortunately we didn't manage to find the cache and as we were pretty certain it had gone missing we put in a temporary replacement and contacted the owners who gave us permission to log the find. Luckily it mid afternoon after all the competitors in The Motu Challenge had been and gone otherwise we may not have been able to get there.
Well worth the drive

Signed Gekoh's brand new log sheet. YuGeo4's log sheet was dry and usable as well. The original log sheet was dry and readable, but looking a bit worse for wear.
Great location for a cache.
A nice waterfall and a cool bridge.
I was very tempted to drive the Motu Road through to Opotiki, but I didn't really have time today.
Thanks for the cache.

What a great location!! Although the wind was quite strong and made the swing bridge quite a scary experience. TFTC

Have been over this swing bridge a fw times in my time but never realised there was a cache on it!!
Found after an extensive hunt around, found the pencil on the grass and were fearing the worse but found container a little while later, We replaced the container with a new one of the same size and description and put in a couple of new pages too.

Last cache of the day and battling against the setting sun. What a stunning location for a cache. Just love the gravel roads on a brilliant day like this. Would love to come back later in the summer and look to camp in this area. Thanks for dragging me out here!
Thought it was time for the annual visitation of a cacher to this cache. WOW! understated. What a great place.
Cache was visited in December - "Dried contents of time capsule, Ross & Lucy"
Cache did take a bit of finding today as WP was out on the green grassed area today.

Easy find, GPSr spot on the co-ords. Enjoyed views of Motu falls and old swing bridge. Cache contents slighty damp, not bad since last visit was nearly a year ago. Dried out, but used new logsheet to log visit. Decided to be an adventurous pretend rally driver, and took the old Motu Road to Opotiki, complete with navigator, GPSr and support crew (kids x2). After nearly 2 hrs to complete 48km, I don't think we'll be getting a drive with any WRC team, any time soon!!!
TNLNSL, [TFTC #14] and great views.

Nudge beat me to be the first to find. I don't know how long he was infront of me but it couldn't have been by much. I was on a four day 4x4 safari that started here so I had to stop and check out the cache and the cascade nearby. This is pretty remote but well worth the trip.
